For Bowel Preparation "This is very unpleasant but effective, and the reviews were helpful. I took the first round chilled, but otherwise as directed. There was really no difference chilled or at room temperature. Started working in about an hour last night, and within minutes this morning, although I wouldn't have thought there was anything left! Both times my body went into shock with chills, shaking, weakness, and headache with the second dose. Very effective, but the hardest part was getting the drink down. Last night, I drank it way too fast. This morning, I took the advice of sucking on a lemon wedge between sips, and it went down much easier, but was harder getting the water down."

For Bowel Preparation "Not kidding, this stuff tastes fine if you prepare. Put it in the refrigerator the night before you take it so it's chilled, add lemonade Crystal Light to the cup after you dilute it with water, and use a straw. It literally tastes like slightly off yellow Gatorade. I was so worried about taking this because I get nauseous easily on these kinds of meds, but I had zero issues. No nausea, no bloating, no headaches, just the runs. Took one dose at 6 pm the night before, took about 30-45 minutes to kick in then went nonstop for probably 2 hours. After that, it became less frequent until I went to bed around 11. The first one should more or less clear you out. In the morning, I took the second dose around 5:30, same deal. Took about 30-45 minutes, nonstop for probably two hours, then less frequent until I went in for the procedure. Was totally out through the whole thing and had a positive experience overall considering my expectations (this was my first colonoscopy)."

For Bowel Preparation "Focused on the positive reviews. Did the same day prep, began at 4:30 AM, colonoscopy at 12:30 PM. First 6 oz bottle with water and Peach Mango Crystal Light. 2 16 oz bottles of water within an hour. BM within 30 min. Same dose at 8:45 AM. Of course, fatigued, light headache since no food. Day before, light breakfast, light lunch, and light dinner. Gatorade in the evening. Overall, went as expected and recommend over two-day prep."

For Bowel Preparation "First time using this prep. I don't care for the split dose. As far as taste, it's medicine. I got it down. It took a few hours for the first dose to work. I took it at 6 pm as directed and got to bed at midnight. I had to get up once to go at around 1:30 am. I woke up at 7:30 am with a wicked headache! I took the second dose at 9 am and it worked right away. As far as the water goes that most don't like, I didn't have a problem with. I drink water all day."

For Bowel Preparation "I didn't have a good experience. Was violently ill with chills, vomiting, and a terrible headache. I drank lots of water, iced tea, and ginger ale, but I couldn't finish the prep. I'd rather use Fleet's Phospho Soda and Fleet's enema."

For Bowel Preparation "I had read good comments about Suprep... in fact, one was, “I love this!” All I can say is that this person could NOT have been a super-taster as 25% of us are. It smelled kind of good. I followed all the directions explicitly. Throughout the day, I had 14 additional cups of clear liquid (about 8 being filtered water) plus the 5 cups of water taken with Suprep, so I feel I was properly hydrated. The clear liquid included chicken broth and light apple juice since I was told you need salt and sugar to avoid a headache. I got nauseated, a headache, and after the 2nd dose (which I dreaded taking after my experience with the 1st dose), threw up 3 times. Five years ago, I used GaviLyte and had no nausea, headache, or throwing up. Suprep was recommended, so I went with it. NEVER AGAIN! I heard that doctors like it because it does a good job of cleaning out the colon. I agree with the quote, “AT WHAT PRICE GLORY?”! From now on, I will stick with GaviLyte!"

For Bowel Preparation "4-17. I was so skeptical to take the medication Suprep (based on the possible side effects). I took my first bottle at 4:30 (did not drink the entire 16 oz at once). I drank big sips until I finished, then waited 30 minutes, then I drank another 16 oz of water and waited another 30 minutes, then finished. Took effect within an hour and a half after I started. I just got a small bothersome headache, but it is going away for now. My output is very clear, I haven't really gone to the bathroom that much since I stopped eating yesterday. If I managed to handle without food another day, then I don't need to drink the second bottle since I am clear now. So the bottom line works okay for me."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep tastes like a nasty sour grape to me. Yuck! I wanted to vomit when drinking it. BUT... My original prep was Trilyte. That, to give you an idea, was 4 liters (4000 mL) that you had to drink. It made me very ill, and I began vomiting. The endoscopy center said that Trilyte was all that my insurance covers, but was able to find me a 'sample' of Suprep. I still had troubles with it. But it did not make me vomit. The troubles I had were: nausea, bloating, abdominal cramps, and headache. The positive side is that it really does work! It really cleaned me out. Also, I managed to not vomit while taking it. Also, it is half of the amount of Trilyte. There are 2 6 oz bottles that you dilute with cool water along with 2 more 16 oz waters each time."

For Bowel Preparation "I took my first dose at 7 pm, an hour late. I was able to drink the 16 oz mixture in about a minute by holding my nose and chugging it down. Before I let go of my nose, I followed the mixture with a chaser of apple juice, so I was sure not to experience a bad taste in my mouth afterward. I wouldn't say it was the most unpleasant thing I've ever had to drink, but it was not the greatest either. Much like other reviewers have said, it reminds me of grape-flavored cough syrup with a sour/bitter aftertaste. This was still present even with the nose-holding method. I did feel a bit sick to my stomach afterward with a slight headache. It took an hour to begin. So far, no cramps. Will repeat in AM."

For Bowel Preparation "I took the Suprep Bowel Prep at 6:00 p.m., and it started to work at 6:30-ish. It is now 7:06 p.m., and I have had no cramping, nausea, headache, or vomiting. When my stomach rumbles, I run to the bathroom. Lots of watery diarrhea. I have been drinking tons of water, about 14-8 oz cups so far. My only complaint is the Suprep tastes like ocean water. Very salty. I chewed a piece of cinnamon gum after drinking it."

For Bowel Preparation "Was very nervous to begin the process for my first colonoscopy and the Suprep, but knew I had to go through with it. Thanks to the reviews I had read, I made sure to put both bottles in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours prior to the first dose, and I also used bottled water, which I had in the refrigerator as well. Bottom line, get the stuff as cold as possible and drink it with a straw. Took me about 10 minutes to get the first dose down. The taste was weird - not really bad - but I did suck slightly on a lemon afterwards. My biggest side effect was a slight headache and chills, which lasted a couple of hours, and the same thing after the second dose at 2 in the morning. But the stuff did the trick, and I followed the directions to the letter to include the two 16oz of water after each dose. Don't let some of these reviews scare you from getting the colonoscopy, the whole process isn't pleasant, but it isn't THAT bad."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my 5th colonoscopy and 5th different prep. I was happy it was only 16 oz. twice. However, 15 minutes after the 5:00 dose, I was physically ill, which never happened with the other preps I have used. By 7:30, I vomited after willing it to stay down that long. When the 9:00 dose came along, I tried to sip it between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. I got 8 oz. down and literally projectile vomited at 10:00. Nothing else was going down. Like many others, I had a headache, bloating, and cramps. Bottom line, I was sick from the prep. The nurse the next day said she has heard this from many people, and I was possibly allergic to it. I would not recommend this to a first-timer. Nor will I ever use it again. I would rather drink the gallon prep."

For Bowel Preparation "Never again. The taste is a mixture of pure salt and saccharine. The side effects are severe: headache, high BP, nausea, vomiting, irregular heartbeat, may need to go to the ER. The most unpleasant thing I've EVER tried to drink. I think the doctors are getting kickbacks for prescribing this because, for me, the Miralax method is much more pleasant to drink and COSTS A FRACTION OF THE PRICE of this poison. Research shows NO SIDE EFFECTS from Miralax, much safer. Go figure, common sense says something's fishy with so many horrible reviews and so many requiring trips to the ER for adverse reactions, and they just keep prescribing it."

For Bowel Preparation "Took the 1st dose of Suprep at 6 pm, made me feel like I had the flu... chills, headache, and I was in the bathroom every 10 minutes for about 3 hours. Woke up at 1:30 am to get the second dose ready for 2 am. Chugged it down because I have a hard time with textures and taste. I managed to get it down, along with the water. About 15 minutes later, my body completely rejected it, and I threw it all up. I'm sitting here now at 3 am, searching the web to find answers to whether or not the colonoscopy can still happen?? All signs point to yes... so hopefully I won't have to reschedule."

For Bowel Preparation "First time using this prep, and it does work much better than others. It is the most disgusting, foul-tasting thing I've ever had. If I have to use it again, I may try some of the tips I've seen here, like the lemons. After getting the first dose down, it took about 45 minutes to start. The second dose was the hardest to get down. I guess because I knew how bad it was going to be. Almost didn't keep it down. Drinking this and the 32 oz of water in an hour makes you bloated for sure. I did get a headache, but that may have come from being dehydrated, which I was by the time I got to my appointment."

For Bowel Preparation "Female, 54 years old. Normally, I eat a high-fiber diet and was directed to a low-fiber diet the day prior to prep and clear liquids the day of prep. Took first dose @ 5 pm; nauseated, abdominal cramps, headaches. Drank about a 1/2 gallon of water over the next few hours, and nothing happened. Woke up @ 3 am and felt the need to fart, but it was diarrhea and gas. Couldn't go back to sleep because of hunger. Liquid diarrhea continued until 6 am when I took the second dose. As the hours and diarrhea continued, it became clearer, almost urine-colored. The cleansing continued up to the moment I had the procedure at 11 am. Lots of gas and continued 'cleansing' diarrhea until about 24 hours after the initial dose. Opt for water, not soda, after colonoscopy."

For Bowel Preparation "Tastes absolutely disgusting. I did not read reviews prior to taking this product. Dreading taking the 2nd dose tomorrow. I experienced nausea, abdominal cramping, and headache with the use of this product. I noticed in the comments some people added other flavored liquids to this product, but the instructions specifically state not to do so. I've had other colonoscopies performed in the past using various different prep methods. This, by far, is the worst. My doctor convinced me to take Suprep as opposed to the Crystal Light and Miralax method. Come to find out, with my insurance, the Suprep would have cost $70! I called my doctor's office to let them know I couldn't afford the out-of-pocket expense, and they gave me the product for free as a sample."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep prescribed in preparation for colonoscopy. As a laxative, it's highly effective. I threw up most of it, but whatever got left starts working within 15 minutes. On recommendation, I did chill it. The taste is vile, and the gag reflex kicks in. Then, a massive headache and chills. Spoke to the doctor. He recommended drinking the second dose slowly. That helped to keep it down, but headache/chills are worse and nausea kicked in. I envy those who do not have these side effects."

For Bowel Preparation "I will never use this prep again. I had severe nausea and vomiting and ended up with a headache that was akin to a migraine x 3. I couldn't really say if I got 'cleaned out' enough because I did not even get to the point to where I could do the second bottle. I am on my way to the pharmacy to see what else I can take. My colonoscopy is on Monday. If there is no other prep that I can do, then I am cancelling the whole thing."

For Bowel Preparation "Currently sitting with my head in the toilet after not even half of the first drink. I started it 40 mins ago, and I've been extremely nauseous to the point where I can’t move or I’ll get sick. And I have chills and a GIANT headache. Probably going to have to cancel. These side effects are MISERABLE, along with the terrible, terrible taste."

For Bowel Preparation "This was the foulest tasting prep I've ever tried. I didn't experience the cough syrup taste; to me, it was very bitter. I chilled it and used a straw. Mixed the first dose with apple juice, which didn't help at all. I didn't know about the lemon wedges, but chasing each sip with Diet Mountain Dew helped a great deal. Not very good results after the first dose, but did with the second. Have had queasiness, mild headache, and some cramping, but not any worse side effects."

For Bowel Preparation "I have had prior colonoscopies and other preps, and this stuff is by far the worst. Is it effective? I believe so. However, it is the most vile-tasting liquid I have ever drank, and I could literally barely keep it down. Not a good choice for a sensitive stomach. Oh, not to mention the headache and chills."

For Bowel Preparation "I had my fourth colonoscopy this morning and used Suprep as my prep. It is expensive, but I purchased it anyway, because it was recommended by my gastroenterologist. It tastes awful and it gave me nausea and a headache. It works way too fast, as I was going in 10 minutes after taking it. As the day went on, I started feeling dizzy, as if I were going to faint. The nurse at my doctor's office thought that I was dehydrated, even though I had been drinking the liquids recommended all day. I was unable to take the second dose and was not totally cleaned out for my procedure. I recommend the Miralax prep, which I have had in the past with no trouble."

For Bowel Preparation "Well, I read everything on this site before using the Suprep bowel prep kit before my colonoscopy, and I tried everything. This stuff is terrible! They really need to make it into a pill or something. I threw up twice each time I used it. It made my face itchy and red. I had a terrible headache the entire time. Some people below said they were on the toilet for about 2 hours, not me. I was on the toilet for 2 days. It cleared out my bowels, but the adverse effects are not worth it. It tastes terrible (even with Gatorade), it makes you burp, it will be like peeing out of your butt for like two days, your butt will be raw before you even make it to the colonoscopy, it makes you throw up and possibly break out into an itchy rash. I hated this stuff. When I have to do this again in 5 years, I will be trying something different, and I hope that they have a pill by then."

For Bowel Preparation "Whoever said this was not bad is nuts! This was awful. I gagged through the first bottle. I've been on an all-liquid diet the morning of and took my first dose at 6 pm. It's 9:30, and it still has not worked. My stomach, however, is nauseous, and I have an unbelievable headache. I'm dreading the next 16 oz. The thought of having to drink it is making me even more nauseous! You would think there would be a pill that would work just as well, especially since I can't stomach this nasty concoction!"
