For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Well... I read the bad reviews but decided to take it anyway. BIG MISTAKE! I realize not everyone has had these effects, but I’m sharing what I went through. Day one: very foggy-headed, dizziness, and nausea. Day two: I was overwhelmed with extreme fatigue and still dizzy, foggy-headed, nausea, plus a really bad headache. Day three: took Advil with it and no headache, not as foggy, still a little dizzy and nauseous, but no more than if I had a mild ear infection. Manageable. Day four: I noticed hot flashes and chills... weird. But I’ve not been hungry at all, and the previous symptoms are now quite manageable. I feel like I’ve got a grip on things now. I’m ok. Day five: I start feeling agitated. I feel extremely insecure. Day six: I can’t stop crying, why am I crying so much? Still extremely agitated and so incredibly insecure. Still not hungry. Day seven: Depressive dark thoughts. I’m done!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking this for 5 days, but my side effects are horrible. The drug is working so well I'm trying to push through. For the first two days, I had a really bad headache and was so nauseous it was really bad. The nausea left, but then on the 3rd day, a severe rash developed. It has been miserable. I'm going to give it another day or two because my appetite is so much less than it's ever been. It's almost shocking. I have to make myself eat. Really hoping the itching goes away."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Today is day one of the rest of my life. That is what I keep telling myself. I'm a little nauseated, and my joints kind of hurt a little. I'm a lot more tired than I thought I would be, but from what I have read, that will pass. I am not sure when I should be taking the medication, though. I will keep everyone posted on my progress, and hopefully, in a week or so, I will be singing the praises of this medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took Belviq for over 6 months, and it worked for a while. I lost 60 pounds. However, when I stopped taking it, not only did I gain the pounds right back (even working out 5 days a week), but withdrawals from this drug are very harsh and debilitating. I was so nauseous and vomiting every time I tried to move. Lingering effects: brain fog still happens. NOT WORTH IT!!!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took 1 Belviq pill yesterday at 7:30 a.m. Side effects were mild. Slight headache. A little dizziness but mild. Woke up this morning dizzy, nauseous (took a dose of Pepto-Bismol, which was no help), headache. Feel like I need to eat to stop stomach from feeling queasy. It is now 12:15 p.m., and these symptoms haven't subsided. Also had slight itching on back and arms but no rash. I can hardly walk a straight line. Feel miserable. When my doctor mentioned this medication, she said it worked from the inner ear. I am prone to motion sickness and am wondering if anyone else having these side effects gets motion sick as well. Is it possible these are people who cannot take this medicine? Motion sickness is triggered from the inner ear. Maybe that should have been a red flag for me. Or maybe that has nothing to do with it, just not understanding what she meant by the inner ear thing. Not going to take any more."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took it for a week. The first 2 days brought a headache, and then that resolved. I was also a bit nauseous those 2 days. I did notice that I had almost no appetite right away, so apparently it is effective for satiation. I had to stop taking it, though, because of the following: Cough started immediately and resolved the day after I stopped taking it. Dizziness and difficulty with balance. Deep sleep and trouble getting going in the morning, when the dizziness was worse. Sneezing and sore throat. Now, this may sound like maybe I just had a cold, but I didn't. I am a nurse, and I know the difference. Some difficulty with memory and concentration. Dry mouth, but that is no big deal. Another deterrent for me is that I can't take my migraine medication with it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Been on it for several days and can't take it no more. Horribly nauseous, the scariest night terrors ever, and head hurts so bad I thought I would pass out. I really thought I could get through it, and it would work. I just can't take it. So sad."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "The bad news. The side effects are tough. First... the first week you will have bad side effects. But they do wear off. I would give it two weeks no matter what. Also, I forgot to get a refill and went two days without it, and I was very, very, very sick. Nausea, heartburn, headache, head cold, anxiety. I am a space cadet at work. It is affecting my work. The good news, I have lost steady more than I expected, and I have no desire for sweets or 'binging' like I normally might. It almost feels like there is a disruption in your mind where the hunger thoughts are. My recommendation is to take it for short-term bouts (perhaps when you are first starting a diet). And be sure to start and stop when nothing important is going on in your life."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I just started Belviq today. I took the pills at 9:30 am after breakfast. I started to cough, and I feel nauseous exactly after 2 hours. But I'm excited, nothing that I can't tolerate. I don't feel hungry at all, at least it is too soon to know. Need to mention that I plan to take one pill a day, and in the afternoon I will be taking 2 veggie capsules of Leptiburn."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have chills and a terrible headache. Feel nauseated, and I only took one pill. First day, and I am hating side effects. I also have a rapid heart. I will give it two more days. I am not going to deal with bad side effects for any longer than that."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "When I first started, I had bad side effects, such as feeling like I had a head cold, etc. Anxiety, trouble seeing, headaches. But they did wear off. Then I was okay, but for really bad cognitive problems, unable to remember things at work, some problems talking. But as long as I was losing weight. Finally, I realized I was having loose stools due to this drug and came close to a couple of accidents. That was it. I stopped. Yikes, I had horrible withdrawal, heart palpitations, nausea. I am weaning off. When I got off the drug, I don't think I ate anymore, but I gained 4 lbs the week after cutting back the dose. I found a similar thing when I started, for the first two weeks, I didn't lose any weight, but then I lost fast. Something is up with that."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Today is day one. I am 5'2" and weigh 221 pounds. Approximately two hours after taking the first dose, I have a horrible headache and feel pressure in my chest. No body aches or dry mouth, and no nausea. I came to this very hopeful site for support and to read the experience of others, which has been helpful. Thank you for letting people post reviews. It is very beneficial for us newbies."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took the first pill yesterday around 8 a.m., and it worked right away. By 4 p.m., my stomach was a bit queasy, so I ate some dinner. By 6 p.m., I was feeling sick to my stomach with pain and nausea. I went to the bathroom a couple of times and was still very nauseated. By 2 a.m., I was throwing up. I then took some anti-nausea meds and finally fell asleep by 4 a.m. I woke up around 8:30 a.m., no longer nauseated but felt like I got hit by a freight train. I've been on the couch all day taking mini naps. It is now 7 p.m., and I'm finally starting to feel better. I called the pharmacy to see if I could get a refund, but they said no. I can see how the meds work but not at the physical cost of being deathly ill. I hope this works for someone else."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started taking just today! I couldn't believe how full I got at lunch. I am making sure to eat a little something low cal, low fat, and low carbs every two hours. Never hungry, slightly tired, and a little bit of nausea after I ate lunch. However, I'm very excited about how I end up in a week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started the Belviq with optimism. Quickly realized this is not for me. Already depressed after father's death a month ago, causing me to eat and gain 10 lbs in that month. The first dose made me lethargic, dizzy, unable to function my daily routine. I took 2 more days to give it a chance. I broke out in a rash during that time that looked like shingles. I was also very nauseated and was awoken with an agonizing headache. I flushed them. Money wasted."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Belviq twice a day faithfully. First week, no change in appetite, cravings, or weight. Second week, I felt like I gained weight, still no change in appetite, GAINED 3 lbs. So upset after spending $88.00, I abruptly stopped and made the doctor aware. She never said to wean off. Within 2 days, major withdrawal. Had abdominal cramping, nausea, and vomiting all night until I took another pill. Then decided for the next 4 days to slowly wean off, which I did. This is as strong a medication. Don't stop abruptly! Didn't work for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Belviq 5 days ago. I am incredibly drained and exhausted. Have had headaches, issues with balance, a feeling of not connecting to my own thoughts or words, eating more, gained 3 pounds... And today the exhaustion was so bad I fell asleep behind the wheel of my car twice on a short trip to my grandparents' house. I left a message with my doctor's office and will follow up tomorrow. Take the side effects seriously. I have never had issues like this with a medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This is the first day on Belviq XR, so I haven't been able to notice much of a change in my eating less. I didn't experience any headaches or nausea. I actually had a little more energy. Now I've just done 3 months on Phentermine 37.5 mg, and I went from 282 lbs to 251 lbs (without exercising much). I wanted to continue the Phentermine, but my doctor said 3 months is the limit. He suggested I try Belviq since you can remain on Belviq longer. I am 5'10" and my current weight is 251 lbs. My goal is to get down to 190 lbs, and I am very optimistic about reaching this goal."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 5 ft 5 in & 158. I fight hypothyroidism & Hashimoto's & have also gone through 5 years of fertility medicines. My usual weight is 138. My doctor & I didn’t care to get me down to that weight - we were hoping for high 140s, something a bit safer due to being pre-diabetic & high cholesterol. With menopause knocking on my door, weight loss is near impossible (I even work with a trainer 3 times a week!). Anyway, this medicine was BRUTAL for me. I had the same experience as someone above: slept like a rock (I usually wake up at 6 am, but couldn’t get up until 8:30 am), started craving & eating JUNK that I’d never eat before, chills, fatigue, some nausea & my breasts weren’t swollen but they were incredibly sore to the point where I couldn't sleep on my belly. I was SO ineffective & lazy (which isn't me), I stopped the medication because I had also GAINED 4 pounds in 1.5 weeks. (I only took it for 9 days!). The withdrawal after only 9 days has me with horrific vertigo. Ugh. AWFUL. So glad I’m off it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I do not recommend this medication to anyone. A couple of days after my first dose, I came down with severe symptoms: nausea, vomiting, and chest palpitations. Made a visit to the local ER. After multiple tests, I was diagnosed with a virus. Since it was during the Christmas holidays, I associated it with 'holiday foods.' Has taken a few weeks to get back to 100%. So, on Monday, I took my second dose of Belviq, and on Tuesday the same symptoms occurred! And... today is Friday! Stay away!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Another update: I have officially been on Belviq XR for 1 month. I am down 10 pounds. I am watching what I eat and going to the gym 3X per week. (I've been doing the gym for about 2 1/2 weeks now.) I felt like the pill isn't lasting as long as it was: I was feeling hungry at night. So my Dr. has now switched me to the regular Belviq 10 mg 2x daily. Took that first pill this morning. I feel a tad nauseous, like I wish I hadn't eaten breakfast (which was small). The only side effects I experience are: I'm cold all the time, super thirsty, and occasional constipation. All things that I can handle. I have high blood pressure, but my blood pressure has gone down this past month! I see the Dr. again in a month and will update then."
