"I have had this for a year. Before the IUD, I was diagnosed with menorrhagia and had one (small) fibroid. I used to plan my life around my period; wore a large menstrual cup, extra-long pad, and period panties (and still leak). I modified my diet and took iron supplements that did not work. I experienced extreme fatigue, irritability, depression, anxiety, migraines, and severe PMS. Insertion was painful. I bled for 10 days with painful cramps. My first cycle was awful, and for 3 months had strangely painful random cramps and spotting. After that, my periods got lighter and now I just wear pantiliners. In 5 months, PMS symptoms were gone. No more depression, night sweats, or raging mood swings. In 8 months, I no longer experienced debilitating fatigue, so I started exercising on a daily basis. I am now in the best shape of my life at the age of 37, no longer anemic, and have lost 25 lbs. My body fat has gone from 32% to 24%. Even my thin hair is growing back! I am SO GLAD I got this IUD!"

"I had terrible menstrual cycles that were heavier than normal, but I mostly got it because of the common side effect of it stopping periods. Every month, I would have really bad menstrual cramps - I'd have to drop on the floor in a fetal position out of nowhere because it hurt so bad and was hoping birth control would help. Before my appointment, I had taken some ibuprofen because I heard that it was painful, and to be perfectly clear, it was. The pain was on a similar scale to my menstrual cramps and had some slight bleeding. That being said, the pain was quick and over with, the levels tamping down to slight pains for a couple of hours after my appointment. I had a regular period with lighter pain levels the first month, then I had some light spotting for the next 3. After that, my period stopped altogether. The only reason I give it a 9 out of 10 is because of the initial pain of insertion, slight weight gain, and some random cramping maybe once or twice a year. It's very worth it to me."

"I got the Liletta IUD on 12/5/22 at the age of 16 for really heavy periods, having to change my tampon every hour. Keep in mind I was using super plus tampons. I am now 18, still have it, and have no periods at all, my last one was in September 2023. So after about 10 months, I haven’t had any cramps. I’ve had a change in weight from 115 to about 122, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a first try. If you just want birth control, I’d try the Nexplanon, the one in your arm. That one was great, with no bad side effects, it just didn’t lighten my period."

"This has significantly improved my quality of life. I’m in my mid-30s, never used hormonal birth control before, and this is my first IUD. I needed to treat HMB and severe PMS. I was losing 8-16 oz of blood every month. I thought about my period constantly and had to plan my entire life around it. PMS symptoms were so bad my doctor almost put me on SSRIs to help manage the mood swings, anxiety, irritability, depression, and apathy every month. She suggested trying this (or Mirena) before trying other drugs as it would also help with HMB. I am going on 4 months now, and my periods are unbelievably light, no more cramps, iron levels are improving, and no more mood swings. Insertion was painful, but ibuprofen helped. My first period was painful, but since then, they have been lighter and my most recent cycle had zero cramps. I am in a stable mental place now and actually feel like myself even during PMS. I still have mid-cycle spotting, but I really don’t care. I feel like a person again!"
