For Pneumonia "I've been on this medication a couple of times, and for whatever reason, something has not quite felt right, however, the dosage I was taking was over, and I went on my merry little way. However, right before Christmas, I was diagnosed with having bacterial pneumonia for the second time in less than a year. For whatever reason, the doctor chose to put me on a very high dose with another antibiotic to go with it. It was almost immediately after being discharged from the hospital and going home with my prescription and taking it that I noticed several different changes about myself, which included a loss of taste, appetite, and sleep. By day 5, I figured they were normal side effects, but by day 6, my legs, feet, ankles, and toes on both feet blew up with pain."

For Pneumonia "Doc said I had pneumonia, but I had very few symptoms: runny nose, sore throat, and cough. Only went to the Dr. when pain started in my right lung when I coughed. Went through one 10-day round of Levofloxacin. Around day 3, my right elbow got a little stiff (no pain), but it stopped after 2 days. Around day 7, my right knee developed a pain that came and went for 2 days. I can't be sure either was caused by the drug since neither issue lasted more than 2 days. After X-rays and a CT scan, the Dr. said the infection was much improved, but not totally knocked out. And I'm still having pain in my chest and back. So after a break of several days, I'm starting a second 10-day round. My main point is I did not experience the bad side effects."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed levofloxacin for 7 days for UTI, and after 3 days, the pain went away. Now, after 7 days, I still have the pain back again. I've been having a UTI that doesn't go away, so I'm back to pain again."

For Sinusitis "I took number 5 pill today of a course of 8 pills for a sinus infection. And I am scared and done. The side effects are horrible: nausea, dizziness, headache, jittery, insomnia, leg pains, heart palpitations, weakness, sensitive to heat. I can't even stand the hair touching my neck or the shirt near my neck. Absolutely horrible medication! Am hoping it all goes away now that I am stopping it!"

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "The pain in my legs from the hips to the knee was excruciating. I thought I had bone cancer. This lasted for 2.5 weeks even after I stopped taking the med. Walking was almost impossible even with pain meds."

For Middle Ear Infections "Not that long ago, I had an ear infection in my right ear, and the doctors prescribed me an antibiotic. It didn’t work much, and I got an ear infection in my left ear. They then gave me this antibiotic, and it was stronger than the past one. If you don’t know how painful ear infections are, they feel like something is stabbing your ears with a knife. Right now, I’m recovering from it. I still get sudden pains, but it worked for the most part. This antibiotic is recommended for adults, and I’m under the age of 18, so I’m pretty sure I had a major infection."

For Bronchitis "After a week's use, my bronchitis was cured. However, aftereffects were terrible. Seems every tendon was attacked; Achilles, knee, wrists. Pain persisted for months. Required cortisol shots eventually. Also suffered shortness of breath for two months. Cure was worse than the disease. Beware of this drug."

For Pneumonia "After taking this drug for 5 days, I had excruciating pain in my arms, elbows, hands, fingers, and knees. I have spent most of my nights awake, waiting for these pain episodes to cease and sleep 1 more hour. I had one return visit to my doctor and one trip to urgent care because my hand and fingers were blue. Today is my 7th day off of that poison, and I am beginning to be almost pain-free. Do not take it."

For Sinusitis "I was given a 5-day script - 750 mg 1/day. On the 4th day, I started getting pain in my thighs and legs but attributed it to random aches and pains. Unfortunately, that wasn't true, and it was from this horrible Satan antibiotic. On day 5, I started having body aches 100 times worse than when I had the flu. What was extremely painful were my legs. I couldn't even get to a standing position without almost crying because it hurt so bad. Then I had joint pain in my calves, ankles, and feet. I pray this is temporary even though I have yet to read a review where the person had temporary pain. This is so scary, I am crying because I am 36 years old with a newborn and toddler and can't be crippled forever. I wish I would read a review where it was temporary."

For Sinusitis "I went to an after-hours clinic to treat my sinus infection. The doctor prescribed me 500 mg of levofloxacin at 1 pill a day for 5 days. I took my first dose that night and had horrible anxiety and heart palpitations. I fought bad nausea the whole night too. The effects lasted for 2 days after I took that 1 pill. The next morning I started to get strange feelings in my left leg. It's hard to describe, but it feels like a dull ache in your muscles. I also started to get an odd tingling/numbing sensation in my left leg as well. This feeling (obviously) alarmed me, and I immediately stopped taking the medication. I took only that 1 dose, it's been more than a week now, and I'm still having issues. I still deal with leg pain/numbness/tingling, and now I'm getting a little of it in my left arm. Please don't make the same idiotic mistake that I did and READ about your medication before you take it. Be careful and DON'T take this or any antibiotic in this family unless there is no other choice."

For Pneumonia "Flu and pneumonia. Given this antibiotic in the ER and 750 mg once daily for 7 days. In addition to prednisone. Rib pain is unbearable when trying to breathe, take full breaths, and especially coughing. Doc prescribed Tramadol for rib pain (not enough, of course), but it seems to work great with the other meds. I'm able to breathe and cough without extreme pain. Highly recommend asking for Tramadol if Levaquin is causing pain. Not sure if it's the Levaquin for me or just the constant coughing leaving my ribs feeling broken. Hope this helps anyone suffering the same."

For Bronchitis "I was given this medication at 500 mg for 5 days from an emergency doctor. This is day 6, and I am just now able to walk across the room without intense pain, nausea, and dizziness. I am sore all over and weak, I have not been able to go outside due to the sunlight. I have 2 more days before I can go out in sunlight. I did not know this the first day I took it. I went to the prescription shop, and my skin felt like it was on fire while I was in the car. I have had night sweats, intense pain in my arms, shoulders, back, legs, and abdominal pain. Also, check drug interactions before taking anything else. It is not recommended to use aspirin or other painkillers with this drug."

For Pneumonia "Took levofloxacin for pneumonia and cleared up quick. Within 2 months, my Achilles was sore every day. Made an appointment with a podiatrist for Nov 17th. Achilles snapped on Nov 14th. Surgery went well to repair the shredded Achilles. In a cast for 3 months. Since sore after 3 months on my feet and working. I nurse it every day. Avoid this drug, if possible. Not worth the side effects."

Levofloxacin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I can't find the 0 for this crappy poison pill. I'm 3 years out and still suffer pains and other toxicity symptoms. Do your research before taking this horrible pill. I talk to at least 2 new people every day damaged by this pill."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I'm a 62-year-old female who had an MRI on my left foot with a diagnosis of cellulitis in my leg and foot. I was prescribed an antibiotic by my foot doctor. Cellulitis was still present after the completion of the antibiotic. He referred me to an Infectious Disease doctor. I have no open sores. This doctor prescribed levofloxacin and doxycycline. I did read the warning sheet on both and told my family and friends I refuse to take levofloxacin. They talked me into taking it. I took one dose at 750 mg. It gave me a terrible nightmare, which I awoke from with anxiety. I also could tell my blood sugar was very low. I started walking around and felt pain that went from mid-calf down to my heel on my right foot. I stopped both meds. I now have a painful ankle with shooting pain in my inner foot. I'm going to go to the ER to find out if there is tendon damage. I also need another antibiotic to treat cellulitis. I should have never taken them. I suffer from fibromyalgia. Seriously, think twice."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "If I could give this drug a 0, I would. I have never had such a severe reaction in my life. It was so bad I ended up not only in the ER from the reaction, but also at the eye doctor's, as it caused my entire eye to turn bright red, swell, and lose vision temporarily in it. This medication also caused me severe joint pain, shoulder pain, and leg/severe calf pain."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I advise anyone issued this medication to refuse it and ask for an alternative. I was prescribed this to take 1 every 12 hours for the first 2 days, after that 1 for 8 days for an infected finger. I had a very small cut which I had used antibiotic cream on, and it made my finger itch and then swell. There was no pain present, and the cut had disappeared, however, my finger was swollen and very itchy. I went to the hospital urgent care here in Spain, and as I am allergic to penicillin, I was given the levofloxacin. First day no problems, second day I couldn't stand up due to severe cramps, I was not sleeping, felt anxious and uneasy. I also began experiencing tightness and pain in the arches of my feet when walking. I still have pain in my feet."

For Pneumonia "2nd dose of 750 mg legs levofloxacin nearly finished me off last night with swelling all around ankles, and behind knees, as well as tendons on arms looks above my wrists. I had lower jaw pain and nervous system with head jerking on its own, as well as shoulder and, of course, headache. Was told to immediately stop taking this med. While those areas are slightly swollen, do feel better compared to when on that drug. Just praying these effects have not done permanent damage to my body."

For Kidney Infections "I have been taking levofloxacin for 10 days. In the first few days of taking it, my legs and knees were hurting so bad, and my body ached. At some point after taking the medication, I started feeling aches in my side, as if the kidney infection hadn't gone away. Additionally, a few hours after taking the medication, my eyes became blurry, and I'm only 25 years old. I'm not sure what else to do, and I still have one pill left. I really hope these side effects go away. Furthermore, my urine is cloudy, and my discharge has turned yellowish, which wasn't the case before. I'm concerned about what's happening with this medication. Is it even working? It's been a horrible experience, and I do not recommend this medication to anyone!"

For Sinusitis "My ENT doctor prescribed levofloxacin for sinusitis. After taking it for a week, I came down with serious tendonitis in my Achilles and have been limping since with extreme to moderate pain. I would never recommend anyone take or prescribe this medicine and look for other options. After doing some research on this, I have found that there have been numerous lawsuits over this and that it appears to have been taken off the market before."
