For COPD, Maintenance "I have had emphysema for 18 years. Lately, I've had more difficulty breathing than ever before. Ipratropium bromide makes a huge difference, expanding the lungs to enable them to take in more air and use it more efficiently. But there's a caveat. Disagreement as to whether or not it is one of the anticholinergics that contribute significantly to cognitive decline is very concerning. Frightening, actually."
