For Bipolar Disorder "I began taking Fanapt back in December of 2013 as recommended by a psychiatrist when in the psych ward getting my anti-psychotic med readjusted. It works well. I won't say great because I have not had any more problems since taking it. I have a couple of side effects that are listed, but would get them anyway either due to my brain injury or other medications that I take."

For Schizophrenia "I have schizoaffective disorder. Got most of the 'call your doctor' side effects. Was so cold, I was freezing in a tub of scalding water. Body aches were worse than the time I broke my arm. Couldn't stop shaking or twitching. I am absolutely terrified of this medication."

For Bipolar Disorder "I think this med saved my life. I have been able to play with my kids again, sleep well, and haven't had anxiety. It made my face tick go away that Vraylar gave me. Vraylar made me feel like I had ants crawling up and down my bones. And I gained so much weight on olanzapine. I have lost weight since starting Fanapt. I felt dizzy for a little bit on the second day, but my PA told me to stay hydrated and it would go away, and it never happened again. I'm so grateful for this."

For Bipolar Disorder "I got a full scholarship to college and lost it because my head was so messed up. I failed three other meds; side effects were crazy. This one changed my life. I have never felt so clear and like myself again. I feel motivated again, happy, healthy. I had a dry mouth when I started, but it went away. I have been on it about 8 months now, only 1 mg at night to help me sleep too, and it's the best med I've been given. When I went to the pharmacy to get it the first time, they told me it was going to cost a fortune, but I called my psych office and they had made some mistake when they submitted. They re-submitted it to insurance and now it's free. Whooooo!"

Iloperidone for Bipolar Disorder "Fanapt is the only antipsychotic that actually works for me. I had pretty severe symptoms and tried so many different medications and finally found one that works. I've been on it for a couple of years, and it still works the same as when I first started it. Very thankful that this exists."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have suffered with BP I my entire life but wasn’t diagnosed until 5 years ago. Until I found Fanapt, I had awful experiences with other medications. I took a med that lowered my WBC to a deficit that was dangerous and switched. I had severe weight gain (35 lbs) and grogginess with another. I tried Vraylar and I began having twitching in my face and in my hands. This brought me to a breaking point. Most of the meds had some positive effects but were so overpowered by the enormous life-changing side effects. After this, I changed to Rexulti, but the twitching did not stop. I feared it was irreversible and would be with me for the rest of my life. About three weeks after switching to Fanapt, the twitching ceased! My doc said he has seen this with other patients as well. My weight returned to normal and I began to have a feeling I had never experienced before; calmness. I am so grateful for this medicine. It has truly changed my life."

For Bipolar Disorder "My doctor switched me to this new med because I had tried three others and had horrible side effects with all of them. Vraylar, Risperidone, and Lamictal. I had really bad restlessness and gained weight with all of them. I was getting scared I wasn’t going to find one to help. I have been on this new one for two months and it’s the most even I’ve ever been. I had a fast heartbeat at first but it went away. I take 6mg twice a day."
