Hymovis (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Nov 2018: two injections one week apart of Hymovis. First injection went well, decreased pain, did not try walking but could do gentle senior yoga. Second injection, terrible reaction, increased pain in knee so bad could not even walk. Returned to doctor who aspirated injection site. No relief. SO MUCH WORSE. Had to rent wheelchair. Am now scheduled for arthroscopy in February 2019. Wanted that to start but ortho would not do because of cardiac history. New ortho, New anesthesiologist, hopeful I will be walking soon. My advice: get two ortho opinions before any of these gel injections. You want a permanent fix, not months of disability"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for : "My knee cartilage is in pieces. I had shot number 3 today out of the 4 I'm due to have. Not feeling much better. But it can take a few weeks after last shot. I learned the hard way - stay off your knee after getting the shot and rest that day - at least it works for me . The shot did hurt . So far so good. Hoping for the best.."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Had three knee surgeries in 2005. Since thenI have been getting Injections the past seven years with orthovisc. A great sports doctor surgeon gives them to me every six months. Lay around for two days with ice. Sure they hurt but not for long. It is touchy in the injection spot for three or so days. I get three over three weeks. I would say yes doing this is better than surgery and months of rehab. I'm 63 now and plan on shots until they stop working on me. Doc told me I'm a record for her. Going into 13 years on injections since 05. OUCH LOL. But yes Orthovisc is the ticket."

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I have been getting knee shots for years, Monovisc for the last few. I am 70, no athlete, just want to walk for extended periods. I get Monovisc 2 times a year, a cortisone shot halfway betwern the Monovisc shots. Both wear off a bit before the next shot, but not so I am in a horrible way. My doctor is highly skilled, and have minimal discomfort during injection. Knees ache a lot for 6 to 8 hours, then fine next day. Take Tylenol for the first day aches."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Torn meniscus in my knee, Given 3 injections of Orthovisc. Pain and swelling for a very long time. Drug was totally useless. Another orthopedic doc said I need knee replacement. Today I spent an hour on phone with pharmacy, BriovaRX, told them about useless drug & that I wanted to speak with their CEO about bill of $741.64. I found my insurance company paid them, are you ready? $2,083.20! I spoke with 4 different employees who kept putting me on hold and could not give me the name of their president or CEO. Then to all insult, the "resolution" employee tried to justify the outrageous cost of the drug. Told them I will not pay and will still pursue finding their CEO. I see a lot of unhappy people here & 6.0 rating for an "expensive specialty drug" is poor. Next will contact manufacturer, Janssen Products. Apparently a team of people decide how much this drug should cost. Defective product period."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I have bone on bone OA in right shoulder. I have been told that I will inevitably need a shoulder replacement. I would like to put this off for a while, if possible. I have had 3/4 injections. I was told not to draw conclusion as to effectiveness until well after the last injection. I have had more daily and nighttime pain since starting injections, which I find disheartening as I had good pain control (1-2) before starting. Now it is a 3-4. I am hoping that in the end the Orthovisc will not fail me!"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and told I was bone on bone. I have had cortisone shots but now they are not working so my doctor recommended Orthovisc. I had the 3 shots in both knees and it was very painful. I am now 4 weeks since the final injection and my knees feel worse than they did when I started. I do need to lose weight and I thought for sure I would be able to get out and start walking and doing exercise to help in the process. Well I can't walk so I can't exercise. I really don't know what to do and my doctor says I need to go back in April for another round of shots. I am even taking HA in pill form but nothing is working. I really thought this would help me but I don't think it has unless I am one of those individuals that it takes longer to work on. I am 62 years old and until now very active. It is very depressing."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "After moving to a mountainous state, my left knee began acting up and was very unstable. I had had menial meniscus surgery years ago and had stability issues on and off. Not really pain. But after moving here, I was referred to a chiropractor that gave me exercises that did wonders. No pain, instability hardly there. But I got the orthovisc anyway, thinking that it would help with stability. O M G Upon getting into the car after the shot my left foot became tingling. Then an hour or so later I got a bad headache. An hour or so after that my knee that had been pain-free started hurting. It is now 24 hours since the shot and the knee still hurts even at rest and the foot is still tingling. I DO NOT RECOMMEND and I will not continue with the shots. Hope my chiro can fix this. I feel that orthovisc has taken me back to square one but worse."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I started the knee injection on July 31, 2018 and completed 3 injections in both knees on Sept 5, 2018. 5 weeks since my last injection and knees are greatly improved. I am 71 years old. The weeks prior to this week, were worrisome. I was thinking they were not going to work. But this week has shown great improvement. I started riding my three wheel bicycle and that has helped a lot. I would highly recommend the injections, however, I would add , listen to your doctor and rest for 48 hours and go slow. Expect it to take several week to show improvement. Well, worth it"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I've had continuous knee problems and really want to share my story because hopefully doctors and insurances will see orthovisc as more of an acceptable treatment for younger people. I had orthovisc injections 5 years ago and was pain free for about 4 years. As far as I can tell I've had no side effects and after all the failed physical therapy and failed cortisone injections that left scar tissue I was so happy with the pain relief orthovisc left me in both my knees and the life I was able to lead on without pain. Now that I'm trying to get orthovisc injections again I'm being told that it's not an option. That I have to start from square one with physical therapy and cortisone. Unfortunately my options are cortisone and surgery. Hopefully my review on orthovisc will spread and more people may share their stories about it. Hopefully one day there will be enough success stories that orthovisc or similar treatments become more accepted by doctors and insurances."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "This is my 3rd time getting the Orthovisc injections. I have also had Synvisc, Uflexa and Hyalgen in the past. The Orthovisc gives me the most relief out of all of them. My doctor uses a fluoroscope to ensure the needle is in the right place. He usually does a pain free injection. If it does hurt it’s minor and doesn’t last long. I make sure to ice my knees several times after each injection and take it easy for 48 hours. Within a few weeks of finishing the series I am almost pain free! I get the injections about every 6 months. I am hoping to avoid knee replacement by doing the injections. I’ve heard it’s possible so I’m going for it. I really appreciate the Orthovisc for the quality of life I have with it."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "My first round of orthovisc I was told would last 6 to 9 months for my bone on bone knee pain. The shots were painless and I was pain free for two years. Now I am back for my second round. It sure beats knee replacement which was my only other option. I am having pain again so I am ready for round two. Hope it lasts as long this time. I highly recommend it."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "53 year old male, powerlifting for 35 years, multiple meniscus surgery's, bad arthritis, knee replacement is needed I was told. I had my first orthovisc shot today, don't know about anyone else's doctor, but is was painless, couldn't feel the shot being administered. I can't wait for my other 3 rounds. Before my shot I'd say my pain level on a daily basis is probably an 8, at times I hate to walk to my car to go out for lunch, so I know what pain is."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I was sedentary after unsuccessful rotator cuff surgery and next thing I know my right knee is throbbing. Pain that would wake me out of sound sleep. Trouble walking. Some days better than others. I had meniscus tear repaired 15 yrs earlier. Figured worst case another scope. After MRI they say I’m bone on bone and potential candidate for replacement. Next was Cortisone which did nothing. Then tried the 3 orthotics injections 1 week apart. Injections with numbing injection first were not bad at all. The knee felt unstable after each injection and relief really didn’t start until about 3 weeks after last injection. It’s 15 months since and my knee has been holding up well. Occasional issues with very heavy use like 6-8 hours of moving up and downstairs. Not sure I could be trusted to go on a 4-6 hour hike but you have to adjust your lifestyle. I’m shocked to hear people had pain with injection and I can only think they didn’t get the lidocaine injection first."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Spent last summer in physical therapy to no avail. I have since learned that physical therapy just builds up the muscles AROUND the knee to help stabilize it. After much thought, pain and more thought, decided to try the Orthovisc injections. Started with the first injection third week of October, 2017 and had last, third, first week of November, 2017, It is now July, 2018 and still seems to be working. The injections stabilized the knee and I have been almost pain free. The only reason I did not give this injection a 10 was they were quite uncomfortable to get!!"

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Had my first monovisc shot, which was also my first gel shot ever. It didn’t hurt too much to get. Six hours after I got the shot I was in the ER with feet Mickey Mouse would have envied, having an asthma attack and with my throat partially swollen shut. It was not fun times. Worse, after a week of pain but decidedly less creaking, my knees hurt worse than ever, and now when they buckle the pain is excruciating for hours instead of a few seconds like before. It’s truly miserable. My allergist said there’s no data on allergies to monovisc, but that is all I can think it was since everything started an hour after the shot and deteriorated rapidly."

I can barely walk, sit or stand after these injections. I can’t sleep I try walk but too much pain. I have been out of work for 3 years now my doctor say next step is replacement and disability which will be hard for me to get because of my age????? Crazy when I’ve worked all my life DON'T really know what move to make now"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "Felt better almost immediately. Been dealing with knee pain for 10+ years. Done many things: cortisone, orthoscopic, PT and nothing worked until this. Shots were not painful at all, but in my left knee the gel hurt more than the right, but it’s possible since that knee is more of a mess with excess fluid that there may be a correlation. Hopefully I’ll be able to start running for the first time in years. I had a great sports med orthoped who really knew what I needed. Of course I went to 3 others prior"

For Osteoarthritis: "Hyaluronan is an exceptional medication ! Have had 2 rounds of this over the last 5 years, and it gives relief for approx. 6 months. These injections have prevented me from needing to get 2 knee replacements. I do not want the surgery due to down time and mandatory PT."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis: "I'm 45 and have been told I will eventually need a double knee replacement. Had a meniscus tear repair on my right knee a year ago ( knee still hurts) and now have a tear in my left knee. Cortisone injections didn't last. Finished my last shot of a series of 3 Orthovisc last Friday (injections were very painful), and I have no relief at all. I would say since getting the shots my knees are worse. I can't stand more than 5 minutes without them both hurting terribly, lots of swelling and trouble sleeping. I've been told it can take up to 6 weeks for the shots to provide relief, I'm hoping I see relief sooner than that."

I was driving my car my knee started hurting it got worse as 15 minutes went by. Within 45 min. I couldn't walk at all. Called my doctor, he said he might have ruptured a vein with the needle. This started at 2pm this afternoon. It's now 10 pm I have had the leg elevated since 3pm I still can't walk and in extreme pain!! Going back to see Dr. tomorrow. This better get better : ("
