Fluticasone "It works as quickly as most steroids I have used, but it starts to cause oral thrush after a few days even though I gargle, rinse my mouth, and brush my teeth and tongue after each of the twice-a-day uses. My doctor added an aerochamber spacer to help with this problem, but the thrush returns after approximately ten days instead of three. At that time, I have to start using Nystatin oral rinse to kill the thrush. I wish there were a better way!"

Fluticasone "I agree with several others, Flovent was fast at managing my allergy/exercise-induced asthma. Seriously, within a day or two, I have decreased albuterol usage, and on the third day, I was symptom-free. I did not specifically notice joint pain related to this medication, but I do experience some pain at times in my hands. I attributed that to getting older. I do, however, notice a dreaded 5 lbs weight gain each time I am on it that quickly subsides when it's my off season."

Fluticasone "My son was diagnosed with asthma at 5 years old. It has gotten worse as he's aged, within the last 2 years, peaking. I was giving him Albuterol up to 4 times a day. A day when he got sick, we were in the E.R. often. Finally, we got a new pediatric doc, and they prescribed Flovent. This drug is great. My son now only uses his rescue inhaler when he has a lot of chest congestion. The Flovent allows him to run, play, and go all day without Albuterol! So glad we found it. And no side effects at all."

Fluticasone "My son has taken this medication for asthma maintenance for nearly 4 years. When he takes it consistently, he has very few asthma exacerbations. Before he was on it, he had to be hospitalized due to a severe attack and status asthmaticus. When he missed it for a few days, he had another exacerbation requiring emergency treatment. I'd say the medicine is effective for him. He has had no side effects."

Fluticasone "Picked up my prescription - 200 mcg - 6 days ago. After taking the prescribed dosage for 2 days, developed hoarseness and sore throat. Did not take any dosage for the past 3 days. I'm not sure the medicine is helping me if this is the reaction I have. The doctor said I should take a 1/2 dose today, and then every other day. I'm considering consulting a new doctor for advice."

"Not really a wonder medicine. Been on this 200 mcg powder for nearly 3 months, and the pharmacist told me it's a type of steroid that takes 3-4 months to work. The pharmacist also said that once it kicks in, I won't need to use my rescue inhaler (Ventolin) anymore. Well, it's been a solid 3 months, and all I can say is that it's not doing anything to me at all. No side effects, but no notice of change in my breathing at all either. I still need my inhaler 3-4 times per day. So I am not knocking this drug, but in my experience, it's HIGHLY overrated by pharmacists. Had asthma for over 40 years, and this is not the 'end all be all' drug for me. Oh well, thank goodness for my Ventolin! :-) I will update again in 3 more months."

Fluticasone "I have used Advair, Pulmicort, and Serevent for maintenance of my asthma and have had fine experiences with all of them. I recently tried Flovent, and I love it. The instructions say that it can take multiple weeks for symptoms to improve, but mine improved seemingly immediately. I was taking my albuterol constantly, and over the last 2 weeks, I have only had to take it a handful of times. The relief I get from taking Flovent has been well worth it so far, and I plan on using it for at least a few months and see if anything changes. Throughout the day, sometimes I have been feeling like I don't even have asthma, which has been a welcome relief because I have been uninsured for most of the last 1.5 years and haven't had access to asthma medication because of that. I would highly recommend using Flovent. I also think that Advair, Serevent, and Pulmicort are all fine options as well, but I am going to stick with Flovent for now."

Fluticasone "I have COPD and CHF. Combined, they left me unable to walk more than a couple of hundred meters without stopping to catch my breath and recharge my weak legs. After starting Flovent, I notice a marked improvement in my overall stamina. Works well for me."

Fluticasone "I have used this for over a year. Absolutely no side effects from the Flovent HFA. The powder type irritated my throat and caused hoarseness. Highly recommend the Flovent HFA for mild asthma. And yes, if you stop it, it will take you 2 weeks to get back to normal again."

Fluticasone "When it actually comes out of the inhaler, it is a decent product. The problem is it is clogged and requires cleaning 2/3 of the time. Wish my insurance still covered Asmanex, a product that works and dispenses every time."

Fluticasone "If you found yourself on the ground trying to catch a bit of air, then you know albuterol is a lifesaver. I got where I couldn't eat candy and walk and breathe at the same time. During the COVID two days, I used half of my albuterol 100 doses. I was given Flovent, and 5 minutes later, I could breathe, no breathe like I hadn't in over 10 years. In my book, as of now, here is my 10 points out of 10. I'm still blown away."

Fluticasone "I had been wheezing for a while, went to the ER, was treated for an upper respiratory infection. About a month later, wheezing started again. My doctor sent me to an asthma specialist who put me on Albuterol, but later I had to be taken off. I've been through so much in the last year. One of my doctors put me on Flovent about two weeks ago. I couldn't sleep for wheezing and coughing. After a couple of days on Flovent, I noticed I wasn't coughing or wheezing anymore. I feel a lot better. I think it's because of the carpet in my apartment, so did my doctor."

Fluticasone "Was on Flovent until my insurance stopped covering this medication. Arnuity is just not as good, sadly. I really hope my insurance will cover the generic form of Flovent that is the replacement. Flovent worked great with little side effects. Arnuity, I'm noticing more muscle pain and soreness and I'm pretty sure this is the cause."

Fluticasone "I had been coughing for about two years and gradually getting worse. Because of my history of breast cancer in 2010, my doctor ordered a CT scan of the chest. Results indicated emphysema/COPD. I tried Breo Ellipta first but was plagued by nausea. Started Flovent November 15, 2022, and now only an occasional cough. I am thrilled with the improvement. The only side effect is an occasional raspy voice at times."

Fluticasone "I have been having a rough few months with my asthma, needing my rescue inhaler 6+ times a day. I gave in to taking a steroid asthma medication. The 2nd day after I started this, my lungs started burning, and I started coughing hard like I have bronchitis. The 3rd day, it was worse. I stopped taking it, and after 2 days off, I am feeling better. One of the side effects is causing an upper respiratory infection, well, that happened rather quickly for me."

"I was on Flovent Diskus 250 mcg twice daily for approximately a year before I discontinued due to insurance dropping it and a lack of efficacy. It really worked well for my daytime asthma symptoms, but did very little to treat my nocturnal symptoms. It didn't give me any side effects, though, which was nice."

Fluticasone "Have had asthma all my life. Asthma specialist had me on Qvar and felt great. Insurance stopped paying and was put on Flovent. Lungs went downhill in a week. Sore chest, wheezing, coughing on and off all day, and throat was sore, lung function test way down. A year later, insurance changed and I was put back on Qvar. Symptoms are gone and lung function is up and almost normal!! Thank God!"

"I'm stopping this drug immediately. I'm sitting awake again with the most severe foot and toe cramps that I have had in my life. I had an asthma flare a month ago and started taking Flovent again, and my gosh the pain and foot cramps are too much. I'll find anything to take other than this. I have lost sleep every time I take it. No more. I'd rather just have attacks and go to emergency. I need to sleep. This drug is dangerous for some of us. I used to take this, no problems, a few years ago, and now I can't even take it. I have mild asthma and transverse myelitis. I'll ask for a different maintenance medication."

"Was switched from Qvar 80 due to lack of availability. Qvar 80 was not as effective as it had been and seems different. Glad they couldn't get it anymore, as I have not felt this wonderful in years! I can breathe! Been on it 1 week, and the first day's usage was phenomenal. Best switch in medicines that I am very grateful for!"

Fluticasone "I was placed on this after months of trouble breathing. Within a few short days, I could feel the effects of the inhaler starting to help me breathe better. However, I since lost my insurance and found out how expensive it is, so the company is letting me apply for a prescription program, so hopefully I get approved because this inhaler really works."

Fluticasone "This is a miracle product. I’ve been using it for 20 years now. I don’t know what people did before this. My chest is so tight and stiff if I don’t take it. Thrush is the only side effect, though. After I take the medicine and wait a certain amount of time, I don’t remember exactly how long you’re supposed to wait. But then, the first thing I drink is unsweetened cranberry juice and water because this washes the medicine away without feeding the thrush Candida/yeast. This is a side effect possible. But sugar feeds the thrush. So that’s why I drink cranberry unsweetened with water that will discourage the thrush and irrigate your digestive tract so it cannot grow."

Fluticasone "This medicine stopped the random sharp pains I would have in my chest after a long-haul flu-like infection. It also drastically reduced any asthma symptoms. Side effects were blurry vision at first, but they went away with continued use. I am now tapering it down to see if I am able to stop using it altogether. Very grateful for this life-saving med."
