For Asthma, Maintenance "I have been using Breo Ellipta for 2 years now, first 200 mg, now 100 mg. I live on a tropical island, so the fungus in the environment is very high. From 65% use of pulmonary capacity, I have improved to 95%. Now I can’t afford it anymore. Therefore, I am going to stop using it. Let's see what happens."

For Asthma "I made the mistake of buying a 90-day supply of Breo. It gives me a sore throat back where it hits when I inhale. My allergist even asked me about this irritation. Now I have an asthma attack, and I can’t get better because my throat is so sore. I believe that it is not doing its job, so I'm going back on the old tried and true. The steroid inhaler that has one Rx in it, and I don’t have to throw out after 6 weeks. It also costs less."

For Asthma "I started on Breo just under a year ago, and the results on asthma were initially pretty amazing. I barely use Ventolin at all now, however, a month after starting, I started to get skin boils, which were large and painful and required antibiotics to heal (had never had these in my life and no other changes could account for them). These have continued, and I am just now stopping Breo and going back to Flixotide, as the trade-off is not worth it. I also seem to have a long-term low-level chest infection/mucus with the Breo, so obviously not great on the overall immune system."

For Asthma "I have severe adult onset asthma, mostly irritant triggered. This is the first long-acting bronchodilator that works for me. Others make me feel worse within 3 weeks. I have gone off Breo twice, but ended up back on. Observations on and off have been consistent. The first couple of weeks after starting are very rough, with lots of coughing and attacks, like it's clearing all the crud out of my lungs. After about 2 weeks, I turn the corner and feel so much better. On Breo, rebounding from a significant irritant exposure that inflames my lungs is shortened to 3-5 days from 3-4 weeks without it! Rebounding from a bad attack is also much quicker and easier. Also, the good stretches feel so much better than before. I honestly didn't realize just how much it helped until the last time I went off. Within 3 months, I couldn't take it anymore, as I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. I pray it comes down in cost, because at $350 per month, I can't afford it once the coupon expires."

For COPD, Maintenance "Horrible medicine! Has fluoride causing bone problems, and vilanterol is a poisonous hazard! Why are pharmaceutical companies trying to kill people? I have gained over 60 lbs. Now I have bone pain. My hips are so bad I can barely move. An X-ray showed osteoarthritis just since being on this drug. I am so depressed, I have never been so sick or fat before. I bruise easily. Tired all the time but unable to sleep. It is miserable. Problems seeing, I have a halo around lights outside, lighting really bothers me, night blindness. Worst part: I am a nurse and just tying all these symptoms to this medicine. So many medicines I gave my patients knowing they cause harm, and I take medicine that’s horrible for my body. I look in the mirror and don’t even know that person. I used to run track. Very athletic until doctors started giving me medicine."

For Asthma "I've been suffering with asthma for a few years now. I was diagnosed as an adult. Nothing would work for me. I was on so many different medications, constantly switching things, trying to get something to work. My allergist prescribed Breo to me around a month ago. I haven't had any wheezing, which is huge for me. No coughing. No shortness of breath. No runny nose. I can actually sleep through the night. It's the first time in years that I've felt like my lungs can fully fill up with air. It's amazing. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 instead of a 10 is because it's caused me to have a constant sore throat. At first, I thought I was getting sick, but after 2 weeks with no other symptoms, I looked it up and saw sore throat is pretty common."

For COPD "I have been on BREO for a short time and already can feel the difference with it. I am not as short-winded as I was and don't have to use my inhaler as much as before, maybe 2 times a day. I am glad my doctor put me on it."

For Asthma "I was diagnosed with asthma 32 years ago, have been in and out of the hospital several times, and used my 'reliever' daily. One month ago, I asked my doctor about Breo and said it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It is the best thing ever in the 32 years I have tried, and I've tried all of them. The difference was immediately noticeable. By the end of the first week, I no longer felt the need for my 'reliever,' and I have not touched it for three weeks now, even sometimes forgetting to take it to work with me. Never before in all those years did I dare go anywhere without my 'reliever,' so I cannot rate Breo high enough for the change in life it has given to me. Just amazing!"

For Asthma "I was diagnosed with asthma in August 2014. I got it due to living with a smoker who smoked indoors and through the night. There were cats, and the house was being decorated, so my asthma kicked in. Started on terbutaline and Pulmicort in the UK, but it just didn’t do the trick. I moved to the US and was first put on Singulair (Montelukast). This worked great for nighttime wheeziness. And then came the Breo. This stuff is fantastic. No side effects, and I have only used a nebulizer once in about 18 months. No rescue inhaler usage at all. I am totally managed on it. Great stuff. I just hope I can get it when I go back to the UK! Also, I have been using GSK vouchers to get it free or really cheap."

For COPD "My primary doctor had her assistant go downstairs to the pharmacy to get this inhaler because I was in breath distress. It did not help at all, and it cost me $348, which I had to pay out of pocket because it is a Tier 3 medication. After using it 3 times, my face and hands began to swell. I cannot use it, and it is upsetting that I had to pay so much money for it. Albuterol works, and my RX plan covers it with a small co-pay. I also must say that it is difficult to use. There are far better medications and inhalers than Breo Ellipta."

For Asthma "I am on Day 18 of Breo for mild to moderate asthma with a chronic productive cough for 8 long years. Nothing has changed yet. I still cough every few minutes. The doctor said it could take up to 8 weeks. I honestly don't see this working for me. I was on inhalers 5 years ago too for the same issue, and none of them worked either."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I've had asthma since I was about four (now forty), and it's been terrible. Mostly triggered by allergies. Been on every cortico you can think of. I'd go through three rescue inhalers a month. I've been on Breo for about four months and have had two rescue inhalers filled. I can exercise without using it, I can sleep at night, and I have gone days completely forgetting I had a rescue inhaler. It has been a miracle drug. It is expensive, though, but my doctor gave me a discount card, and it's free now. My only issue is when it's very cold and you work your bronchi hard outside, it hurts, but it's worth it. Also, you can build an immunity to it, and it starts to not work as well after four or five months. BUT it still works well."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Not sure why the doctor gave me this inhaler as my asthma had been pretty good. So day 1 and 2, I was feeling great, breathing was really good, lungs were clear of mucus. All downhill from there on day 3, headache started and coughing. Day 4, headache persistent, coughing all day, so had to use Ventolin. Day 5, constant headache, coughing still, lungs full of muck, and feeling really sick, body aches and pains. Day 6 same as day 5. Nope, this drug (or drugs) are not for me. Day 7, went back to my Seretide and took probably 4 days to be feeling better."

For Asthma "I have been battling asthma for over 40 years, utilizing maintenance inhalers and rescue inhalers. Since I have been on Breo, for the past 4 years, I have not had to use my rescue inhaler. In fact, my pulsox always used to read between 91 and 93% on room air. Now it reads 95 to 97% on room air. When I take long, deep breaths, I no longer cough. Not sure whether the weight gain is a side effect or because I've always had the tendency to be a 'fatty patty.' I'll blame the med. LOL."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I am not sure if this product is the cause. However, my mood has gone slowly down since using it. I am so fearful of falling into a depression, having gone through a very difficult time with depression during the late 90s and early 2000s. So I will consult my pulmonary doctor before continuing."

For Asthma "I am a healthy 42-year-old who has had severe asthma since I was 11 years old. Struggled all my life to successfully prevent attacks. Was prescribed Breo about 18 months ago, and I’ve not had to use my blue Ventolin inhaler since. Truly superb, and no side effects-can’t believe it. Has changed my life, I can fully breathe in and out for the first time in 30 years!!"

For COPD, Maintenance "Been on Breo Ellipta for four months. At first, I thought it was a cure-all. I could walk upstairs and not have to sit down right away. Walking wasn't such a chore. But then, after about two months, I started to gain weight-15 lbs., all in the midsection. Along with horrible bloating! Most of the time, I just thought I would burst from the pressure. Also, now I'm not able to walk any distance. It was good at the start, but I will be stopping this medication."

For Asthma "I have had asthma most of my life, it has gotten worse the last few years. The doctor put me on Breo, I have been on it for a week now. It has helped my breathing, but the side effects are awful: itchy rash and welts on my jaw and forehead, skin turning purple on my chin, and body aches. I'll try for a few more days but may have to stop."

For Asthma, Maintenance "This medicine has worked wonders for me, completely eliminating the need to take the other 3 asthma medications I take (including my fast-acting inhaler). I didn’t have trouble sleeping at night due to breathing issues, and I didn’t have sudden attacks at work or while doing physical activities. I cannot give this medication all stars because of the ridiculous price of the medicine. I am a single mother and cannot afford health insurance for myself, and I somehow don’t qualify for any assistance. I am shocked that this one life-changing medication is almost half of what my monthly rent is. Simply put, I cannot afford this medicine and therefore continue to take breathing treatments 3 times a day and burn through my albuterol inhalers at work and exercising. I find it absurd that you can get prescriptions that people abuse and/or sell illegally for nothing, and I can’t afford an inhaler so I can live a normal life. I will also note I don’t smoke, and I eat healthy and exercise."

For Asthma "I noticed that I felt better instantly from using Breo. But I was worried about what I would do once my coupon expires. I did have a terrible cough when I started using Breo. Then it went away. So because I worried about what to do when my coupon expires, I started to wean myself off. Then I noticed that my terrible cough came back, with yellow phlegm. Not sure of what the cause is."

For COPD "I have COPD/emphysema and never smoked, so I was surprised at my diagnosis. Now 65 years old. I tried several inhalers, none of which worked or had side effects. My doctor finally prescribed Breo. It worked really well for my breathing. Then, after about a month, and thinking I was losing my mind from the intense depression and anger, I stopped taking it. After a day, I was beginning to feel like my old, happy self. I tried the Breo one more time and those emotions hit me again immediately. I also had dizziness, hoarseness, fatigue, and insomnia. I will NEVER use that again."

For Asthma "Breo Ellipta was the miracle asthma preventer at first. Couldn't believe it. Then became less effective in a very short time. Left me feeling extremely bloated, and I started to put a bit of weight on around my stomach. I have been working out every day for years. I've now chucked my Breo away and will never use it ever again. I've also noticed other side effects with my vision since taking it. DON'T use Breo."

For Asthma "I have moderate asthma, have tried several of the two-component inhalers to keep it under control. Dulera was, for a time, my go-to, it worked much better than Advair. However, each time I was on Dulera for more than a few months, I invariably developed a really bad bronchial infection. My doctor then put me on Symbicort, which worked well. We moved, I changed doctors. He pushed Breo, which I dutifully switched to. After six months of using it, my findings were that Breo does absolutely nothing for me. It's as if I wasn't taking anything. I switched back to Symbicort and noticed (again) major improvement in my breathing and reduction of mucus. I'm staying with Symbicort for now."

For Asthma "I was diagnosed with moderate persistent asthma, uncomplicated, as per my spirometry test from a pulmonary specialist. He prescribed Breo Ellipta 200 mcg and vilanterol 25 mcg. During the use of it once a day, I always had a hoarse voice, which eventually became laryngitis. I stopped the Breo, and all side effects were gone. I've always had seasonal allergies all my life. I do not get the wheezing or coughing or lack of breathing. I only get rapid breathing on exercise or overworking, which an albuterol inhaler stops. My absolute eosinophils were always high for the past 4 years. My pulmonary specialist said to see me in six months?"

For COPD "With weather changes, I get a cough, mild asthma. Was using my rescue inhaler, sometimes more than once a day, especially when it rains. Dr. put me on Breo, and I haven't coughed since, going on 3 months. Only fault is the price, insurance does cover some of the cost."
