Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Uveitis "I suffer from a very aggressive case of uveitis in my left eye due to sarcoidosis. I have already had my right eye removed because of it. I became part of the research study developing this implant on the advice of my medical team, and it preserved the sight in my remaining eye. I had minimal side effects: temporary pain after surgery, developed cataract (had removed 14 mos. later), increased eye pressure (used eye drops). On my 2nd implant now - usually lasts about 4 years. Highly recommend to anyone with uncontrollable uveitis."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Uveitis "Yutiq implanted in both eyes 4 months apart, like 1 or 2 years ago. I received it as soon as it was FDA approved for the United States. Best thing I ever did after 21 years of injections. I am almost 2 years out with no needles or any need for any other medication."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Macular Edema "I was diagnosed with a rare systemic disease which attacks my retina: Birdshot uveitis. Usually, biologics are used to treat it, but my side effects were many: sugar diabetes, high blood pressure, and extreme fatigue. I had my first set of Retiserts in 2008 and two other sets subsequently. I have just had the fourth in my left eye. I did have to have surgery to lower pressure in both eyes and now have glaucoma. I have had uneventful surgeries, no side effects except the above. I probably would have been blind from the uveitis and edema without them. But as stated above, you should heavily weigh your options. I was 58 when I started, and I am 70 now. Still with usable sight. My disease flares and remits at will."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Macular Edema "I've had three Retisert implants done. They work wonderfully but have had two that separated after being in for a while. The first separated after 6 years and the second after 3 years. The surgery was a breeze and prevented me from having injections. They did prevent recurring floaters. Thankfully, my insurance covered it because it is quite expensive."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Uveitis "I received the Retisert on January 20th, and it is now February 20th. I received it in my right eye. This is my second surgery, previously 5 years ago, and that was a successful surgery. Hoping for the same success. So far, so good. I highly recommend the surgery."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Diabetic Macular Edema "Very expensive drug ($9000) - only use if covered by insurance. Kaiser gave me this drug, and I have had it in my eye for 2 years, and it's working. I have had glaucoma eye surgery in my eye to keep eye pressure low. The only negative thing is that it leaves a very small capsule in the eye that does not dissolve. So my Dr. does not think I can use this drug more than 2 or so times. I may switch back to another drug that works up to 3-6 months per injection and costs much less."

Fluocinolone ophthalmic for Uveitis "Just had Yutiq implanted this week. Be aware that the applicators are not of high quality. I’m thankful my doctor had the ability to have an alternate package from another lot number on hand since the first applicator wasn’t sharp enough to pierce my eye. Am hopeful this medication will keep my inflammation quiet for an extended time. If you’re going to charge almost 10k for a medicine, invest in a good applicator!"
