"I've been taking TriNessa for 10 days for birth control, acne, and regulating my period. So far, I've lost 11 lbs. The first 5 days, I had awful mood swings and barely had an appetite for anything. It's odd for me to lose so much weight because I'm not overweight and have never lost this much weight in 10 days, but otherwise, it's going okay! Haven't noticed a difference in my acne, but time will tell!"

"I began taking TriNessa to clear up my skin. I have never had perfectly clear skin, but before and during my period, my skin (including back and shoulders) would break out horribly. After only a week of the pill, I noticed my skin was very clear. I have never had such amazing skin! During my period, I still get a few zits, but not bad enough to wear makeup. My period never starts until the 5th placebo, and has always been short, but I no longer cramp! My mood is stable, and I have gone up a cup size. I am stopping the pill due to a 10-pound weight gain in three months. I'm a runner, and have always been able to maintain my weight. I intake 2000 calories, burn 2400/day, and went from 120 to 131 in 3 months."

"I've been taking TriNessa for 3 weeks now. I have a little stomach pain sometimes, but I guess I can deal with it, and it is clearing my face, which was something I noticed today while looking in the mirror. I was glowing, loved it, but I've been bloated, and I really don't like looking pregnant when I'm not... but I do hope I'll gain weight, just not in my stomach."

"I had to give this medication a 10 because, ultimately, it is extremely effective in the prevention of pregnancy. I started taking this pill when I was 17, and I'm now 21. As a teenager, it was great. No acne and predictable periods. But I gained a LOT of weight (I was usually 109-115, and now I'm 135-140), mostly in my thighs and lower abdomen that would not go away. I also completely lost my libido. It was devastating. I have terrible mood swings and am usually completely incapacitated every first day of my period. I also started to have quite a bit of spotting for the last year and a half. I'm always nauseous, dizzy, tired, achy, and depressed. It also increased my migraines and made them much worse. I do not recommend this."

"I've been on TriNessa for two years. I take it every day at the same time. I've never missed a pill. It cleared my acne. I've not had a pregnancy scare, and this is the only form of birth control my husband and I use. I have not gained weight. Sex no longer hurts due to endometriosis because the pill had reduced the side effects. My only complaint is my constant mood swings, which change in a second."

"I absolutely love TriNessa! I am a 25-year-old woman with no kids, with previous issues of no period, late period, long period, breakouts all the time, and constant bloating almost all the time. TriNessa has cleared my bloating, my acne, and my periods! I absolutely love it! But I do remember at first it was hell, I would have headaches, and I would feel like I needed to throw up."

"I have been on TriNessa for 3 months. My insurance no longer covers Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I've been told this is the closest generic to Tri-Cyclen Lo. It's been terrible. I've been emotional, sad, and irritable. I have highs and lows throughout the day. I've had very depressing thoughts. I have cramps the first day of my menstrual cycle for the first time in my life, and I'm 32 years old. I spot between periods. I now have acne, so I am going to the dermatologist to get a prescription for that. Everyone says to give it more time. That, because I was on Ortho for almost 20 years, it will be an adjustment. They tell me that TriNessa is forgiving and my body will come around. I don't know what I'll do..."

"I've been taking this birth control for over a year, and it's probably the best one so far. It's cleared my skin so much, I haven't gained any weight at all, and most importantly, the periods are shorter. The bloating is horrible, the cramps don't usually last for more than 1 day. Like every other birth control, it has cons, the mood swings and the bloating are pretty much the only ones I've experienced. I would recommend this to a friend."

"I decided to try this birth control to regulate my menstrual. I'm finishing up the first pack now, and I will not continue. I knew it was these pills making me feel depressed. I noticed it when I was in my 2nd week of pills. I was crying and feeling down and everything for no real reason, and over petty stuff. The first thing I thought of was the pills. So, I decided to research it and see that I'm not the only one. I just got over depression and definitely don't want to go back down that road. I'd rather deal with my menstrual over this feeling."

"I have never really been able to take birth control because it makes me unbearably moody and depressed. TriNessa seems to be doing the same thing. I have been taking this pill for about a week now, and I don't feel like I want to do anything, and I seem to be unusually frustrated with everyone and everything. I'm not sure if this will get better or if it will continue to make me feel this way. Judging from the other comments on this pill, people have been having the same problem."

"I’ve been on TriNessa for about a year now, and it’s been the worst year of my life. At first, my doctor told me it would take a while for my body to get used to it, so I didn’t stop taking it. I didn’t gain weight, but I’m having trouble losing weight. I go to the gym regularly and eat well. I’m a happy person, yet now I have never felt so depressed. I randomly cry, I’m always sad, I find it hard to get out of bed, and I’m always stressed. It’s about to ruin my relationship unless I get off of it. Any recommendations on what other birth control won’t make me depressed?"

"I have been on TriNessa for about 10 months. I will say that, as far as birth control goes, it's pretty effective. My periods were basically 3-ish days long and were super light, and, most importantly, I never got pregnant! That being said, I was extremely moody and went through a pretty bad depression. After reading some reviews, I now realize that there are plenty of women who have had similar experiences. I've been off of TriNessa for about a month now, and my mood has had a drastic improvement. Now on to looking for a new birth control."

"I've come to the end of my first month on this. I started taking it to help regulate my period. It has helped do that! But the anxiety and depression have been high. I get crazy moods where I can't stand anyone, and I don't want to be around anyone. I feel more bloated since taking them."

"TriNessa just makes me extremely tired all the time, and hungry even after I just ate! I went from barely finishing 1 meal a day to wanting 3 and snacks in between. Not to mention the added-on depression and EXTREME anxiety."

"This is hands down (for me) the best birth control I have ever been on. I have been on Ortho Cyclen for years, and my current insurance doesn't cover it, so my Dr. switched me to TriNessa. I was literally terrified to take a different pill. With TriNessa, I have had no cramps, no menstrual headaches, and insanely LIGHT flow. I also feel better. This bc has honestly been the best pill for me."

"I was recently prescribed Trinessa after using Tri Sprintec for years. I heard Trinessa was great for clearing up acne, so I was really looking forward to seeing the results as I get occasional breakouts and cystic acne. I’ve been on Trinessa for a month now, and it’s been HORRIBLE. I’ve been extremely emotional, my anxiety has been intense, and the worst of all... my acne is the WORST it’s ever been. I’m so ashamed of my face and am losing self-confidence, and it all started once I began taking this pill. I have contacted my doctor, and they are putting me back on Tri Sprintec."

"I was on Tri-Cyclen before I moved and lost health insurance. Immediately after losing health insurance, my doctor moved me to Trinessa, the generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, without consulting me. I liked Ortho TCLo because I had no side effects and it cleared my adult acne. I cannot stand Trinessa. Although my acne is still clear, my mood swings are unpredictable and heavy. I am normally a strong and reliable person. I am constantly dealing with jaded, cynical thoughts, oversleeping, and utter lack of positivism. I will be switching back to Ortho TCLo even though the costs are astronomical without health insurance."

"I have only been on TriNessa for 2 months now, and it's really nice. I have never really had much in the way of acne, but with this, I never even get a pimple. My periods are 3-4 days, pretty light, with no cramps. The first couple of weeks, I completely lost my appetite and lost a couple of pounds, but now I'm back to normal. No complaints!!"

"I’ve been on Trinessa since I stopped breastfeeding my little one about 9 months ago. My periods have been heavier and longer, and I’ve had stronger cramping than I did with my previous birth control. I’ve gained about 15 lbs since I started this medicine. I’m hungry all the time! And I get nauseous fairly regularly. Also, I’ve been very depressed. I’ve always had a tendency to struggle with anxiety and depression, so I wrote it off to that, or maybe even postpartum, but I took some time off of this birth control and have come to realize that it may have been a big cause of my unhappiness lately. Going hand in hand with my depression, I’ve had no libido on this pill. Overall, the pill has done its main job because I’m not pregnant, but after the research I’ve done, the negative side effects are going to cause me to change birth control."

"As for preventing pregnancy, TriNessa worked like a charm. I originally had begun taking the pill to regulate my period because I got them twice a month. As for physical side effects, they were minimal. I never gained any weight, never felt nauseated or sick. The only downside I found to the pill was it made my patience go down to zero. So if something happened that normally I would blow over, I would get very angry and blow up. My mood swings were extremely bad, people just didn't want to be around me because of how angry it made me. I ended up getting off of it because of my mood swings, and my period stayed regulated. So that was a plus."

"My regular birth control was discontinued and was switched to Trinessa 3 months ago. I had weight gain 1+ months later, but didn't put it together. I'm now in my 3rd month and I've gained a total of 15 pounds, anxiety, acne, and breast tenderness. I'm done! I'll be 48 years old this year and don't need the extra problems. I see good and bad reviews, and I'm so glad that I googled it."

"I was on the pill for about 8 months. The only side effect I experienced was a low sex drive. Other than that, the pill was effective! I had regular five-day periods, no headaches, no nausea, no weight gain, and (thankfully) no mood swings. I am no longer on TriNessa because of the lack of libido (I was on it purely for contraceptive purposes). If it hadn't been for that, I would still be on it!"

"I have been taking TriNessa for one year, and this pill is great. I have never had a change of mood, heavy periods, breast tenderness, gained weight, or lost weight. I have had more interest in sex than I had, which is good. I love this pill, what else can I say!"

"I started taking the pill for my irregular cycle, and it has worked, but I've noticed I started having headaches, bloating, and terrible mood swings. In addition, I've become somewhat lazy and gained a tad bit of weight. I'm about to be on my next set of pills starting tomorrow, so I hope it gets better."

"I have been on this pill for about 2 1/2 months, and compared to my previous prescription (which I had no period, just spotting at the end of the month), this is horrible. The only time I don't bleed is during the first week of pills. Then it's light bleeding the second week and gets heavier with each week's pill. I can see how it's good for birth control. Who's going to have sex when they're bleeding all the time?"
