For Birth Control "My insurance switched me to Tri-Lo-Sprintec about a month and a half ago without me knowing. I decided to give it a shot since it was free and I was paying $100/month for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo previously. On OTCL for 2 years, I had no negative side effects, which was a relief after trying everything under the sun (most recently Microgestin FE, which made me incredibly depressed). The 1.5 months since I have been on TLS, ALL of these negative side effects: irritability, depression, weight gain, depression, headaches, lethargy...you name it, I have it. I am SO upset that I finally found something that worked and insurance dictates what pill I should take. I'm speaking with my doctor to fix my Rx ASAP. Not staying on TLS no matter what."

For Birth Control "I've been using Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for the last two years. I absolutely love the pill; it got rid of my acne, and I never experienced negative side effects. That being said, I can't say the same for Tri-Lo Sprintec. Recently, my insurance only covers Sprintec. My doc switched me and assured me it's the same exact pill. I've been using it for a week. I'm beginning to break out on my face, which I could live with. What I can't live with is the relentless and extremely painful abdominal cramps and bloating I'm experiencing. These are the worst cramps I've had in my entire life. After doing research, I've found many women share a similar experience to mine. Also, Ortho and Sprintec aren't exactly the same. So, beware of switching to it."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 10 years and loved it and had no side effects. I had to switch to Tri-Lo-Sprintec 2 years ago after my insurance wouldn't cover Ortho anymore. Since switching, I have gotten horrible acne, and I never had acne before, even as a teenager. I've also become very moody and have no sex drive. I've also gained between 5-10 pounds that I just can't get rid of. After reading other reviews on this pill, I was finally able to put the pieces together and realized the pill seems to be the culprit for my issues. Once I finish this pack, I'm getting off of it. Stay away from this birth control!"

For Birth Control "I’m 21, and I’ve been on this birth control for about 2 months. I’m trying to stick it out to see if I’m one of the lucky ones like some other reviews I’ve read and my body will just get used to it. Since I’ve started taking this, I quit my job, sleep most of the day, never want to get out of the house. Showering and brushing my teeth is even a chore now. I’ve never felt like this before. I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen at first, and it cleared my skin and never gave me any side effects. I was on that for 3 years, and I swore by it! The pharmacist and doctor both said this was the same thing, just a generic brand. I can assure you it’s not. I’ve noticed a little change in my sex drive. I have no appetite and can barely stomach anything. I’ve lost weight. Depressed state of mind all the time. But none of this even compares to how bad my acne is! My jawline and all around the sides of my cheeks and face. I never even broke out in these places, and now it’s awful!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed Tri-Lo-Sprintec to help with my irregular periods. When I first took them, they seemed to be working. A few days later, I started experiencing abdominal cramps, was spotting in between, and pelvic pain. I took this birth control for two weeks when my stomach pain became severe, along with my pelvic pain, and I had to be rushed to the hospital. The hospital made sure I didn't have any cysts on my ovaries or that my stomach pain wasn't related to my appendix. Luckily, my reproductive organs are in good health, and the ER physician suggested I get off Tri-Lo-Sprintec and try something different. I know everyone's body is different when it comes to taking birth control, but I won't ever take this brand of birth control again."

For Birth Control "I was on the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo all of my high school years. Never had acne, 3-day periods, no cramps, no bloating, and actually believed it was impossible to gain weight on it. Coming to college, the price of $110 was too much, so I went to the generic. 2 months in, I've gained 20 pounds, horrible cramps, and have horrible acne. Switching birth controls after this pack."

"Best thing ever. First off, I read the reviews, terrified. I got on this anyway. Perfect. After the first night, I actually almost stopped taking it. I had a major panic attack. Stayed up the entire night, thought something was going to get me. Like completely irrational. I thought I was going to die. I continued to take it, and it was perfect after that. I’ve been on it a year and couldn’t ask for anything else. My period is completely predictable. No acne whatsoever."

For Birth Control "I had absolutely no problems with this birth control. No nausea, spotting, mood changes whatsoever. It reduced my menstrual cramps. Also made my boobs swell, but I think that's a good thing, haha. Anyways, I switched to Trinessa (another generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen) because it's free with my insurance, and it gave me migraines with aura as well as mood changes. I really wish I stuck to Tri-Lo-Sprintec."

For Birth Control "I wish I could give this medication a ZERO. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 8 years with no side effects. My insurance switched me to Sprintec, and I only took it for a week when my entire face broke out, which never happens to me. I had horrible headaches and developed an ulcer, which I'm not sure is related."

For Birth Control "Switched doctors and started taking Tri-Lo-Sprintec. I was breaking out so badly, like never before. I even switched my face routine and eating habits. After the third month, it cleared up my face so much I was amazed. Still have light scarring, but it feels so good to be able to not wear makeup and have a clear face. Don’t give up, it just takes a while to kick in and get hormones balanced."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Tri-Lo-Sprintec to use for birth control as well as to help my acne. On day 3 of this pill, my legs began getting very itchy. In the days following, I had sparks of pressure in both of my legs up until day 9, where the pain had become one-sided and started making my right leg throb nonstop. Birth control has ties to blood clots, so I was super worried. I stopped taking the pill right away after that, and my leg pain went away within 2 days. It also gave me really bad acne even though I had only been on it for less than a week and a half. I do not recommend this pill at all."

For Birth Control "I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 5 years and loved it until I got switched to Trinessa Lo due to having to pay cash for it. I was nervous, but fortunately, the transition was unnoticeable, and I continued to take it for 5 years. In December 2018, my pharmacy switched me yet again to Tri-Lo Sprintec, and I did not know until I got home and couldn't return the 3-month supply. Let's just say, I was right to be nervous about the switch... I HATE IT!! It's been 2 months, and I have been eating everything in sight, which in turn makes me feel bloated all the time. I've never experienced such crazy mood swings, I feel depressed and not like myself at all. I was hoping to just suffer through the 3 months and then try to find Trinessa Lo again. After looking around the Internet, I just found out it's been discontinued. Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo too!!! Now I don't know what to do because I'm afraid to try another BC and risk having worse side effects than I have right now."

For Birth Control "This medication is terrible. My insurance switched me to the generic last year. I took the medication for several months and was miserable the entire time. I was noticeably irritable and extremely anxious. I stopped taking the medication and switched back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and the problems went away. I am currently waiting to receive information on my new insurance and ran out of Ortho. I had an extra pack of Tri-Lo-Sprintec and decided to give it another try. I regret this because just a few days into the medication, I am once again anxious, grumpy, and miserable. Maybe it will work for you, but it definitely doesn't work for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for about a year. It does a good job at avoiding pregnancy and preventing acne. However, about 6 months in, I started to notice that I became severely depressed. I’ve been thinking really bad thoughts (self-hate/self-harm, etc.). And lately, I have been having extreme anxiety to the point where I can’t even function properly. I feel like I am going crazy because I can just be sitting down or doing anything, and suddenly I start crying for no apparent reason. I’m constantly sad all the time, and it’s extremely exhausting. I think I need to speak with my doctor to discuss getting off this birth control. I personally don’t believe the pros outweigh the cons."

For Birth Control "I wish I could give this a negative score. I was using Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo before this was available as a generic, and my insurance company made me switch. The pharmacist ensured me the only difference was in ONE inactive ingredient, but I beg to differ - my skin is so broken out I feel like a teenager again. I have constant headaches and a migraine so bad, I went to the ER. My period is wonky, I hate it. I have an appointment at the doctor in 2 weeks, I'm going to beg for an IUD. This is the worst pill I've ever used."

For Birth Control "I started the original Tri-Sprintec a while back and had the worst stomach pains and was throwing up so much each night after I took it. I was scared to start Tri-Lo-Sprintec, and when I did, my cramps started to ease. I have to say overall, I am extremely happy with this product. I don't use the pill for birth control, I mainly use it because of bad menstrual cramps and very heavy bleeding. And so far, it's been very good. I do have some spotting between periods, but that's apparently normal for a little while."

For Birth Control "Two months ago, my insurance informed me they no longer cover Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (that had no side effects) and would basically have to switch to the generic form, Tri-Lo-Sprintec. Being assured that it was the same thing and that keeping Ortho would cost about $150, I went ahead and took the generic. I could only make it through one and a half packs before I couldn't take the side effects anymore. I was gaining a lot of weight for no reason, constantly bloated, breaking out, fatigued, suddenly depressed for no reason, spotting, and even my period just starting for no reason! I finally finished my second pack today, but my period started a week ago. I told the pharmacy to switch me back, worst BC, not the same as Ortho Lo."

For Birth Control "So I was on a different BC that was the exact same thing as Tri-Lo-Sprintec except I didn’t have the same side effects. I was recommended Tri-Lo-Sprintec by my Dr. I’ve been on this one since Oct 2019 with no problems in the beginning, and here it is in February 2020, and I have been having the most worse headaches/migraines. And my breasts are constantly itchy, and they have small dry patches on my nipples. Also, my sex drive drastically dropped. So, I would not recommend this pill, it started off great and ended bad."

For Birth Control "My experience with this birth control was the worst! Stopped it only after a month and a half, and my body took so long to get back to normal. I originally wanted birth control to help my bad period cramps, but after the changes/side effects, I was like I’d rather have the damn cramps than all of this. First off, it made me super bloated 24/7, it also made my left breast get really big while my right breast stayed normal small, I couldn’t even wear tight shirts or bikinis, it was so noticeable and bad I could only wear big t-shirts. It got to the point where I was staring at my body in the mirror crying because I hated what it was doing to my body. That night I threw my birth control in the trash, and that was the end of that. I know everyone’s body is different, but I do not recommend it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have the Kyleena IUD, yet still experience awful periods—heavy flow, for 6-7 days with horrible cramps nonstop. I started Tri-Lo-Sprintec as recommended by my doctor, however, after 1 month of use, I am OVER IT. I have been constantly nauseous and visibly bloated, experiencing horrible abdominal pain, diarrhea, heavy/sore breasts, and abruptly waking up at 5 a.m. to projectile vomit!! I’m on birth control to prevent pregnancy, not FEEL pregnant!!! SHEESH."

For Birth Control "I switched to Tri-Lo-Sprintec because the previous BC I was prescribed ruined my mental health. So, my doctor recommended this BC because it has lower estrogen. Sort of loved it the first week because it helped with my mood and appetite. In the middle of the week, I started breaking out (I never break out badly), and it was terrible. Six to eight days in, and I’m breaking out in rashes on my face, specifically beneath my lower lash line and on the eyelids. I stopped taking the medication on day nine because it was just too much."

For Birth Control "I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews for Tri-Lo-Sprintec, but honestly, I got so lucky with this being my first bc pill. I have no major side effects of depression, weight gain, anxiety, etc. The only thing would be a slight decrease in sex drive, but that’s about it! It has worked really well for me, and I have little to no complaints!"

For Birth Control "Terrible! I've been constantly irritable since switching to this from Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I've also experienced low sex drive, intense food cravings, and vaginal irritation. My pharmacy told me this would be the same as Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but it's definitely not. I thought I was losing my mind until I started researching this drug and saw how many women were having the same problems. I went to the pharmacy today, and they switched back to the Ortho Tri-Cyclen. It's so expensive, but definitely worth it if it makes these mood swings go away."

For Birth Control "Holy moly. This is the absolute worst birth control I have ever been on. I got on it to clear my acne, and it didn't even help with that. It made me bloated all the time, have extremely heavy periods, not to mention it made my anxiety 17,461,565 times worse. I felt like I was going crazy. I had horrible mood swings, especially around my period, my boyfriend thought I was a psycho bitch... which I was. It also lowered my libido extremely, and after 8 months, I decided I needed to change it. Idk why I waited so long. I've noticed what seems like an immediate change! I'm feeling less anxiety again, feeling a surge in my sex drive, and my anxiety has completely gone away. If you are experiencing these symptoms, do NOT wait to change! You will feel so much better, and no one needs to feel like that! (Only thing it did was keep me not pregnant, so obviously have to give it props for that, but honestly, don't get this birth control.)"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have had bleeding for over a month now, and I have never had an abnormal cycle. Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo is the way to go. If it's the 'same,' why am I experiencing different symptoms? The bigger problem, ladies, is why can't women choose which birth control pill they want to ingest at a reasonable cost? Why is Ortho now $60 under our plans, especially when we are experiencing such horrific side effects? It costs the insurer more in the long run because I now have to call the gyno, go in for a check, an ultrasound, etc., due to abnormal bleeding versus simply giving us a choice."
