For Birth Control "I don't have anything to complain about besides a big decrease in appetite, which is good and bad. It helps me eat healthier and eat the right portions, but I almost feel like I have to force myself to eat now, and I love food. So I've ended up shedding a few pounds, which I'm already tiny enough. But besides only a little spotting, my first period was shortened and minor cramping, it's working out fine for me! I was on Lo Estrin prior, and that made me feel a little moody and emotional and brought down my sex drive as well."

For Birth Control "I got put on this birth control, Tri-Lo-Sprintec, two months ago to prevent pregnancy and to clear my hormonal cystic acne. I know everyone recommends you try something for at least three months before you ditch it and move on to your next possible solution. However, sometimes it just doesn’t work that way, and you just can’t take the mental abuse some of these medications cause. I’m not writing this review to scare off anyone from trying it, I searched and searched before being bold and reminding myself that everyone’s body is different and that maybe this birth control could potentially be my solution to clear skin. It wasn’t. I now have cystic acne on my cheeks, chin, and back. Starting out, I only had chin acne. I’ve always dealt with acne but haven’t had it this bad in a long time. This birth control has also made me have two mental breakdowns, I’ve never in my life had such a breakdown before. It made me lose my sex drive and did I mention how emotional I am after being on this BC? I hate it."

For Birth Control "I had to switch from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to Tri-Lo-Sprintec due to my original being discontinued. The first 2 out of 4 weeks of each birth control pack is just fine. I didn't mind the weight gain, and my mood swings were similar to my other birth control. HOWEVER, this birth control will seriously mess up your health. I've been having constant migraines, and at one point thought I was having a heart attack. I talked to my doctor about my symptoms, and she agreed that it was best to get off this birth control. It gave me panic attack-like symptoms and is not worth preventing pregnancy. My period comes 3 days late anyway, so I spend those days panicking if I'm pregnant. Do yourself a favor and invest in something else."

For Birth Control "I have been on this for going on my second month because my pharmacy has been out of my usual brand (Tri Cyclen Lo) for the past 2 months, and I’ve noticed my face has broken out really bad, like not normal, and I’ve had really bad mood swings. My first period on this pill was barely anything, and it was 2 days early, and not normal! I would not suggest this pill at all!"

For Birth Control "This birth control worked well for me with minimal side effects. It did not give me acne, and my periods were short and light with minimal cramping. No hair loss, loss of sex drive, or nausea. My only symptoms were constant bloating, weight gain (15 lbs in 7 months), and a constant insatiable appetite. I can say that it helped stabilize my mood, I experienced no major mood swings or outbursts. My insurance recently switched me to Tri-Lo-Marzia, and while I’m enjoying this pill (weight loss, less of an appetite, no bloating), it is causing some major mood changes. I know there is a pill out there for me, but I don’t think either of these are it. If your pharmacy tells you these medications are the same, don’t listen."

For Birth Control "As far as effectiveness, I did not get pregnant while taking this medication. However, I experienced so many side effects I eventually stopped taking it and switched back to Ortho-Tri-Lo. I experienced problems with mood swings, irritability, anxiety (racing heart and anxious feelings for no reason), depression, cramps, spotting, headaches, decreased sex drive, weight gain, breast/nipple tenderness, and vaginal irritation. All of these are side effects I had never experienced with Ortho, so I switched back and have little to no side effects. It definitely was not worth the money saved because it made me feel like a crazy person, and I really did not have control over my emotions. I would experience all extremes, especially anger and crying."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been on this birth control for about 5-6 months. I switched from Loestrin 24 due to mood swings. One thing I hate about this pill compared to Loestrin 24 is that this pill has 7 placebo pills, and Loestrin 24 only had 3 placebos. I had bad side effects as soon as I started taking the pill, but I decided to stick with it in hopes that my body would adjust and things would get better. I am now ending month 5 on this pill, and things have only gotten worse. My periods are now 2 and 1/2 weeks long. I start bleeding when I start week 3 of the pack, bleed through that week, the placebo week, and a few days on my new pack. Also, I have terrible mood swings, insomnia, no sex drive. Only positive: no acne. I am 21, 5’9”, and 120 lbs for reference."

For Ovarian Cysts "I have been taking Tri-Lo-Sprintec for over 7 months. The reason I have kept taking it was because my last birth control pills gave me awful mood swings, depression, and zero libido. I was crying almost every day for no reason, snapping at my husband. This one is better, but only just. After trying it out for these past months, I am talking to my doctor about stopping. I’m done settling. He says I need the pills to protect my ovary since I had one removed and I have no children yet. I’m also in my mid-20s. With Tri-Lo-Sprintec, my libido has gone up from zero to two, but it is still affecting my marriage life. We’re frustrated and unhappy as I don’t feel like my normal self at all, even if there is slight improvement from the other pill I took before. I also have severe sinus congestion that I didn’t previously have, and I am tired of it all."

For Birth Control "Okay. So. I know the demographic of girls who look at these reviews, your mom/partner/family/whoever is pressuring you to go on birth control, but you’re terrified to because of the side effects. I once upon a time was like you, dear reader… and let me just say that my story had a happy ending. For the longest time, I refused to go on birth control, primarily because I was terrified of gaining weight. I grew up a fat kid and worked hard as far from obese as possible - I would be darned if I let a silly little pill destroy every ounce of progress I made. However, this pill worked amazing for me. The first month I had extreme side effects (severe mood swings, but no bloating/weight gain), but after that it was all sunshine and rainbows. Shorter periods, lighter cramps, and no weight gain! Just remember that all BCs work differently for different people!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Tri-Lo-Sprintec for about 6 months now. This method was recommended by my gyno for normal contraception but also for my cystic acne that was out of control. I would constantly have 4-5 painful bumps on my face, and they would take weeks to go away. When I first started this pill, I immediately noticed extreme mood swings. So extreme that I could acknowledge when I was going to blow up because my face would get really warm, and I would just flip out on my boyfriend. On top of my mood swings, I cramped a lot, and my sex drive was non-existent. I'm still on this method and still have bad mood swings - I think I've gotten used to just being grumpy. On a good note, my cystic acne is gone, it took 3-4 months."

For Birth Control "When I first started this, I was terrified because of the experiences other girls had, but everybody is different. Considering this was my first ever birth control, I was mostly scared of weight gain and mood changes. None of that was the case! I come from a sex drive that is very low, but when I was on this, that completely changed. I also never had an ounce of weight gain, and my mood never changed a bit. My periods were very irregular to start with (11-15 day cycles with a 2-week gap in between for the first 4 months). That quickly subsided and became more regular. My cramps were very minimal, and let’s face it girls... period cramps make us want to crawl in a hole and cry. Since this is a hybrid type pack, you don’t have to take it on the dot every single day at the same time. There’s a little give in the timing, but still try to be consistent. I was on this for about a year, and I have nothing but good things to say!"

For Birth Control "I had used BC before. I stopped it because I was not sexually active anymore. I got the TLS this time, and can definitely see a few side effects in these three weeks. From lack of appetite, mood swings (also an anxiety attack while taking a class, NOT GREAT AT ALL); zero sex drive and migraine. My period during the first week went full for five days and spotting a dark tone for a few days after, too. Which is very irregular in my case. Everyone's different, but I definitely don't see myself using them again."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen since I’ve started birth control and come to find out it had been discontinued. I was forced into the brand Sprintec. I’ve been on both regular Sprintec and Tri-Lo-Sprintec, and the results aren’t far from the same: bleeding for 3 months at a time and, of course, mood swings. Bleeding so excessively has ruined my sex life completely, and I do not feel appealing at all on the pill because of it. At this point, I’d rather not have any hormone in my body."

For Birth Control "Worse pill ever. This birth control gave me hypertension that it was 167/112. I was at the ER for hours doing X-ray, blood work, and CT scan. Leading up to my visit to the ER, I had horrible chest pains, discomfort, and tightness. All my results came back normal, and once I decided to stop this pill, the next day my blood pressure went down to 122/82. So please, listen to your body. Before the chest pains, I suffered with horrible headaches, migraines on the 2nd and 4th week of the pills, also suffered from horrible anxiety, mood swings, insomnia, and loss of appetite."

For Ovarian Cysts "I have been on this birth control for a month, and honestly, it screwed up my mental health. I have been on the regular Sprintec for a year but switched to the lower dose because I have experienced weight gain. The side effects I have experienced since taking this BC were severe loss of appetite. I can go a day without eating, and it would continue the next day, but I would force myself to eat. Worst of all, I have terrible mood swings. I feel sad for no reason, or the smallest things that make me unhappy feel like the worst thing ever happened. I feel isolated even when I’m around people. I believe that I’m on the road to depression if I continue on this BC. I do not recommend it at all."

For Birth Control "I was on Tri-Lo-Sprintec for a while, and I thought it was such a great BC that didn't cause me to have anxiety or mood swings... until I received the scary news that I had a blood clot in both of my lungs. The clot caused permanent damage to my lung and should have killed me. I'll take my cramps over this pain any day."

For Birth Control "I used this as birth control for treating my acne. This isn't my first birth control, and I was switched to this one because I didn't get a period with my previous birth control, and it would cause severe mood swings. Before starting this birth control, it had been years since I last had a vomiting spell, and the same month I started taking this, I started vomiting. Once a month, around my period, I would throw up. It would happen out of nowhere to where I was scared to go out of my house for fear I would get sick and would not find a bathroom in time. Also, I never knew when my period would come, never around the week it was supposed to. Did not help tame mood swings. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone!"

For Birth Control "My pharmacy switched me over to this from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and this is the worst thing I have ever taken. At first, I was experiencing spotting immediately after being an hour late in taking my pill. It was so bad the first month, I spotted for a week and then got my period the next with horrible cramps and headaches. I have been on it for three months now, and I have spotted every month. This month I got my period for two days over a week before I was supposed to. In addition to this, I have been experiencing crazy anger and mood swings for the first time. To the point where I got mad at my boyfriend for trying to plan a vacation with me and then cried immediately afterward. I have also had some pain in my ovaries and broke out more than ever."

For Birth Control "So I was prescribed Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and they gave me Tri-Nessa Lo, which I've always done great on. Was on for 2 years, now the pharmacy switched me to this Tri-Sprintec Lo because my other was discontinued. I'm almost halfway in this pack, and I am having terrible mood swings, even the slightest has set me off. On top of that, I had stopped my period after being on the non-active pills for the Trinessa. Well, when I first started in this pack of Tri-Sprintec Lo, 2 days later I started bleeding bright red blood. I hate this pill but cannot get in to see my OB-GYN. I just want to feel normal again, and on top of that, I've had a nonstop headache. They are not the same as Tri-Nessa - Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I would not recommend these to my worst enemy!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 6 months, and my doctor switched me to Tri-Lo-Sprintec due to insurance purposes (which is the generic version) (cheaper). I have no serious side effects with Ortho Tri… I normally don’t get bad side effects from any medicine. But after a month and a half of taking Tri-Lo-Sprintec, I've noticed depression, fatigue, crazy mood swings like NEVER BEFORE, dry mouth, decreased sex drive, nausea, sore breasts. I do not recommend this birth control to ANYONE! I have never experienced such severe side effects!!!"

For Birth Control "I was taking Trinessa Lo for about 3 years (with no side effects) until it was discontinued, and I was switched to the Tri-Lo-Sprintec. I've been taking it for about 9 months now, and I think I'm going to stop due to its horrible side effects. I've been bleeding for over two weeks (mid-cycle), cramping, having mood swings, and worst of all, I've been experiencing an increase in intensity and frequency of migraines. Even when I'm well rested and stay away from 'triggers,' I wake up with a migraine that gets worse throughout the day! I forgot to mention that I also feel nauseous on a regular basis. I started experiencing all these symptoms within the last few months and didn't realize until recently that I had been switched over to a new pill (I assumed that my old pill had just changed packaging)."

For Birth Control "Used for approximately 1 month. Experienced restless nights, increased emotion-i.e., felt I was going to cry over silly things that wouldn't normally make me emotional, mood swings, increased anxiety, headaches, and increased agitation. I'm very in tune with my body and didn't feel like myself. I felt like I was 'PMSing' the entire month. Was prescribed Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo-however, my insurance only covered generics and substitutes a 'similar' product. No similar really-with the exception of both being labeled as birth control. Switching ASAP. I rated it a '3' because ultimately it did its job, and I did not get pregnant."

For Birth Control "This birth control was the worst I've taken. I used to get Microgestin Fe from Planned Parenthood, and it didn't make me bloated or cause any unwanted side effects other than occasional nausea. I switched to this one when I finally went through my insurance, and this made me so nauseated all the time and so, so, so bloated. I thought I was crazy with my mood swings, but I read other people had the same problems. I would cry at everything, and the last week before my period every month, I would have a complete breakdown one day, cry for hours on end, and be depressed. I also waited so long to change it, but reading all of this and how others reacted similarly, I knew I needed to."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for three years now, my doctor switched me over to it from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo due to the cost. At first, I really enjoyed this pill, no significant changes at all, no weight gain, no moodiness, no appetite change. Everything was fine. The last year and a half, I have noticed a difference, and I hate this pill now. It has decreased my sex drive to absolutely zero. I have been with my boyfriend for three and a half years, and I have no desire to do anything with him. It has made me miserable and extremely emotional all of the time. I feel depressed and get angry very easily. The only upside to this pill is that my period lasts for two days, and then it's over. I will be switching immediately, it's ruining my relationship."

For Birth Control "The first 2 months of this pill weren’t bad, after month 3, that’s when I started to notice the painful side effects. The breast tenderness lasted the entire 5 months I was on this pill, and my cramps got worse. The cramps were so bad that sometimes I wasn’t able to fall asleep or do certain things. I would experience random spotting and bleeding in the middle of the pack or right before placebo pills. There were some months where I would skip the placebo pills so I wouldn’t get a period, but still bled and had severe cramping. It did help my acne, but gave me horrible mood swings. I would become super angry at one moment and then super sad for no reason. I was VERY emotional, I would often cry on this pill. I noticed that it also made me isolate myself and took away my motivation to do things. The good things about this pill are that it helped my acne and never made me gain weight. I actually lost a little weight on this pill and was able to maintain the same weight for 5 months."
