For Birth Control "Honestly, it's awful. I was unable to get Sprintec, which I've been on for 13 years, and I ended up getting Mili and was told it was the same. It is NOT! I want to cry all the time, I have to force myself to eat because I have no appetite, and my stomach doesn't feel happy. I've always had anxiety, but this has brought it up a whole level. I'm also breaking out like crazy. I'm trying to resolve my prescription because if I don't take my pills, I get cysts, so I'm in a lose/lose situation. This is a terrible pill."

For Birth Control "This was my first time taking hormonal birth control, and I can say it is my last as well. I was only on this pill for 6 days, and within those days my anxiety was triggered like never before. Not only was I nauseous every day, but I started experiencing paranoid thoughts and almost delusions. With already existing mental illnesses, this medication triggered all of them to be so much worse. On the 6th day of taking it, I felt out of touch with reality and started sobbing and continued sobbing every day on and off for about 4 days out of fear and anxiety that had suddenly taken over my whole brain. I have never experienced this level of feeling out of control mentally. Please, if you are thinking about taking this specific brand of birth control, don't if you have existing mental illnesses. Overall, horrible experience, I am traumatized."

For Birth Control "I've tried 5 different brands of birth control pills over the past 8 years, but I've finally found the one. Although I experienced some horrible nausea during the first 2 months, I've always been susceptible to nausea when starting a new brand of BCP, so I know to wait at least 3 months for your body to stabilize. I'm now on my 4th month of TriNessa and I feel GREAT. No more nausea, no more mood swings - just crazy clear skin and a babyless womb. Best of all though, and the reason I gave up on all the other brands I've tried: TriNessa does not make me depressed. The other BCP made me suicidal and anxiety-ridden from the moment I started them. Ladies, our bodies are different but don't lose hope on the BCP that's perfect for you."

For Birth Control "Tri-Lo-Sprintec was the first birth control I’ve ever been on. At first, I wasn’t too sure about it. The first few months were rough. I’m talking depression I’ve never experienced before. I was crying over nothing, had tons of anxiety, and was suddenly super insecure. It was such a dark time in my life, I legit thought I was going crazy, and my poor boyfriend supported me through that nightmare. I stuck through it, however (idk why), and surprisingly it all went away one day. It lasted about 3 months, but after that, I had no bad side effects - no weight gain, no acne, and it really helped me out with my period pain. I used to curl up in bed and cry because of how bad my cramps were, and on this pill, it was finally manageable. I still experienced a little pain, but it felt like what a 'normal' cramp was supposed to feel like compared to what I used to go through. Honestly, overall a good experience, but I had to go through a nightmare to get there, and it really depends if you think it’s worth taking the risk."

For Birth Control "Estarylla is the first brand of birth control I tried, and I'm finally changing my BC pills now. I hate the way these pills made me feel. At first, I didn't realize what was going on with me, I was thinking I'm going crazy in my own head. Severe mood swings, I felt depressed all the time. My anxiety got WAY worse. I'm finally getting off these pills. The good part is my period got regular, and my cramps are not as bad, but I can't do Estarylla anymore. I do not recommend this brand to any girl. If you want to stay happy and enjoy your life."

For Birth Control "Personally, I LOVE Mili birth control for my acne. I had terrible acne and tried everything to get rid of it. I was on this BC for 2 months and my acne cleared so much to the point where I literally had none. My pharmacy recently switched me to Estarylla and I’m only the second week in, and I have experienced depression and SEVERE anxiety that comes along with constant panic attacks. I will not be continuing it."

For Birth Control "The first year of being on Tri-Sprintec, I did great. The second year has been rough. Bad anxiety, depression, and I'm just so freaking tired all the time, some days it takes everything I can do to just make it through an 8-hour shift and make it back to my bed. I've always been a very energetic person until this past year. I also haven't had a sex drive in forever, it seems like. And these mood swings, I can't even deal with. I've really been struggling the past year. Never really thought that it was the birth control doing all these crazy things to me."

For Birth Control "Tri-Lo-Marzia totally got rid of my sex drive. Before I got on this pill, I had a very high sex drive. Within a month of being on Tri-Lo-Marzia, I physically could not get aroused even when I wanted to. It made my vagina dry. I could literally tell the blood flow to my genitals had decreased. It's effective at preventing pregnancy because you will no longer want to have sex. It also gave me extreme mood swings and anxiety every month during the week 3 pills. On a positive note, I could not tell any changes with my acne or weight. I did not experience any spotting between periods, but it did make my cramps worse and flow slightly heavier. 27 years old, 160 lbs. Light periods lasting 4-5 days."

For Ovarian Cysts "I hate to write a review this awful, but I have to. People should know how life-altering this pill is. I started taking Estarylla a week ago and had to throw them in the trash. If you have, or have ever had, any bouts with anxiety or depression, do not even look at this pill. I don’t remember a time I have felt so low and lethargic, and then let’s not forget the cystic acne that popped up on my jaw and chin. If it works for you, that’s great, but it has torn me up!"

For Birth Control "I recently was told I was to start taking Mili as my pharmacy, CVS, no longer carries Sprintec. I am 3 weeks into my first BC pack of Mili, and I have never felt more awful. I have had a headache and have been extremely nauseous the past 4 days. My anxiety is through the roof, and my breasts feel like they have gone up a whole cup size. When I was on Sprintec, I never had any of these issues. I really never would have expected this when switching from one combination pill to another."

For Birth Control "I've been on Tri-Linyah for about a year and a half now, and for the first year, I had no symptoms at all. My skin got better, no weight gain. But these past six months have been terrible. I've had EXTREME mood swings-like fine one hour and the next, I'm full of anger and sadness. I've been crying over the simplest things and getting anxious and sad before bedtime. I look forward to my period week because I know I'll feel like myself again for that week. It's been making my relationships struggle, and I'm about to quit it because the side effects definitely aren't worth it."

For Birth Control "2, only because this drug did technically do its job of preventing pregnancy, but that’s the only good thing that can be said about it. I was handed this generic after moving jobs and getting a new health insurance plan. I was on Tri-Sprintec for almost 10 years with no negative side effects. Within a couple of weeks of starting Tri-Estarylla, I started feeling extremely nauseous at all times of the day and night and having terrible anxiety. For about five months, I felt sick and crazy without having any idea why. I went to three different doctors and was put on anxiety medication, but no one could figure out what was wrong with me. I came across other reviews of this drug and saw other people having similar experiences. I’ve changed generic brands a few times in the past and never thought anything of it, but just to be safe, I called my doctor and asked to be put back on Tri-Sprintec. Sure enough, I’ve felt fine ever since. Everybody is different, but for me, this stuff was awful."

For Ovarian Cysts "I was prescribed this form of BC to help treat my PCOS and irregular periods. I've been taking Estarylla (previously Mononessa) for about 10 years now. To be honest, I think it works very well. My periods are light flow, light cramping, and always on time. My acne has always been mild and usually only on my face. I do experience some depression and anxiety, but I figure that's just me. It is important to take this at the same time every day for best results. I also recommend drinking plenty of water (because it's great for your body! :)"

For Birth Control "This was awful birth control. I just stopped taking it and am starting to feel back to my old self, and I have only been taking it for a week. Within three days of starting it, I started feeling very nervous and detached, like I wasn't a part of my surroundings. I felt very zoned out. Almost 'emotionless' is the best way I can describe it. I also experienced heart palpitations and shortness of breath. My gyno said these side effects that I'm experiencing are not what is in the 'literature' for this medication. I asked if there was another pill we could try, and she said they would all give me the same reaction and suggested I go for an IUD or the copper implant. I'd rather not have something implanted in me that I can't just quickly stop or take out should I experience severe side effects again. I'm sure they get a good commission on the IUDs, so that may be why she was pushing for it."

For Birth Control "Wow! This birth control was a true nightmare for me. By the 3rd week, I was feeling every side effect in the book—from depression to anxiety to being irritable in a quick second, tender breasts, cystic breakouts (mind you, I don’t break out other than a pimple here and there). This was full-on cystic acne around my jaw and mouth. I didn’t want to leave the house for weeks. I felt isolated in my thoughts. I have never felt depression like I did on this pill. I tried to stick with this one because I was told it would “regulate,” but after 2 months and 3 days, I broke down in my bed, shaking from anxiety and crying—I made the decision to quit it."

For Birth Control "I've been taking TriNessa for the past 14 months now. It's the first oral birth control I've ever been on, so at first I thought it was normal. I knew when my period was coming, it kept me from getting pregnant, and it cleared up my face. However, ever since I've been taking it, my anxiety has reached a whole new level. Not to mention, I have depression for the first time in my life. I have had suicidal thoughts, I've felt my self-esteem go down, and I've felt irritable towards nearly everyone in my life. It has affected a lot of my close relationships, such as my boyfriend who is constantly having to put up with my depression and anxiety attacks. I would consider another pill if you have these issues."

For Birth Control "I went on this drug as a birth control method and to make my period regular. Now, I’ve realized it’s taken a toll on my mind and body. When I started it, for the first six months, I would get angry and upset for no reason. Eventually, it calmed down, but has come back with a vengeance. Then, I lost all sex drive. This week, as a result of a negative experience in bed (probably due to my lack of arousal), I’ve had horrible anxiety that should only have lasted for a day, but has gone on for seven. I’ve been unable to sleep more than 4 hours at a time, unable to eat or keep food down, and unable to feel comfortable. I can’t think rationally, and it’s beginning to take a toll on my relationships with my boyfriend and family, and my motivation in classes. I’ve had anxiety before, but never like this. I’ve been crying every day and feeling like I’m going insane. I don’t feel like myself anymore. Going off of this pill immediately and hoping it gets out of my system fast."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill, Femynor, for approximately a year. It started out okay, but a few months in, my periods started happening in the middle of the pack and lasting until the end. Also, the main reason my doctor recommended this pill to me was to clear up my acne. I have not seen a difference - I still break out a lot every month right around the second week, and my face doesn't tend to clear up until after my period... just for it to happen all over again. I came on here to see if anyone else had similar side effects and was surprised to see how many comments there are on anxiety/depression. I have never been one to be super anxious/depressed, but this past year, it has been so bad. I can't confirm this is the sole reason, but it does seem a little suspicious. I stopped taking it this month to see how I feel - I'm getting sick of trying out different pills though, this must be my fifth try. Just remember, everybody is different!"

For Birth Control "This BC is great! I had previously taken Alesse and only took it for two months, as I got crazy anxiety from it. A few years later, I decided to try Tricira Lo (generic of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo). I had pretty bad acne before starting it, and this pill cleared it up almost completely! I love it, and for this reason, I'm planning to stay on it for a looooooooong time. The only side effects were that my boobs grew a little bit, and I gained about 5-10 pounds the first three months, but after 5-6 months, both stabilized. I've been on it for about two years now, and my acne hasn't returned. If you want a low-dose BC and have moderate/severe acne, this pill is worth a try!"

For Birth Control "My experience being on this pill is by far some of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I started it when I was a senior in high school (about 2 years ago), and I immediately was thrust into an extremely dark depressive episode, which had aftereffects that lasted for about 3 months-just because of how deeply scarring this episode was. I was extremely happy, positive, and stable with some mild anxiety that I was quite good at managing, with no history of depression or ideations of self-harm/suicide. However, starting this pill had me thinking some of the darkest and scariest thoughts of my life, and after I stopped taking it, I almost immediately (a day or two after) felt a tangible difference in my thoughts and feelings. A couple of days ago, I decided to try it again, just in case maybe it would affect me differently-but it did the exact same thing unfortunately, and I was thrust into another very scary depressive episode with extreme anxiety. Please be very careful."

For Acne "I started taking Tri-Sprintec when I was 17. I am now 24. This was originally recommended to me by my OBGYN for acne and migraines, and it has made my skin great and migraines disappear. Occasional breakouts, but nothing major. In the beginning, I had no major emotional, weight, or period issues. My periods are still very light and last about 5 days. After a few years, my weight spiraled out of control, and I ended up gaining about 45 pounds (from 122 to 160!) and also dealt with depression, anxiety, low energy/lethargy, and increased appetite. Every body is different, which is why it is important to monitor your symptoms over YEARS. Things can change. I am now switching to a lower dose of hormones and seeing if there is a change."

For Birth Control "I had a baby girl 6 months ago, and I started this about 2 months ago. At first, I was doing great with it, but then, after about 2 weeks of taking it, I have really noticed some not-so-great changes in me. My chin is constantly breaking out, so it did not help clear up the acne. I have really had some bad mood swings of just feeling really sad, and my anxiety has been pretty bad. It has really messed with my sleeping patterns. I also gained about 16 lbs from the time I started taking this pill until now. I wear contacts, and it really seems to dry my eyes out and make my vision a little blurry, which I haven't really had much trouble with before. I am seeing my doctor soon, and we are planning on switching me to another birth control pill."

For Birth Control "Love, love, loved Mili. It was the first birth control I ever took. I was on it for three years, then my body got adjusted to it, and it stopped working, so I had to switch (this is not the medication's fault, it's a genetic thing). If I could go back on Mili, I absolutely would. I started taking it for bad periods and horrible month-long cramps, and it fixed them completely. I can't comment on weight loss/gain or bra size changes because I was still going through puberty when I started this, so any weight difference or change in bra size could've been because I was in peak puberty. I also had clear skin almost my entire time on Mili, even though I was a teenager, and I never struggled with anxiety or depression while on Mili until right before I went off it, but that was for personal reasons, not because of the birth control. Overall, I loved this birth control, and I never would've gone off it if I didn't have to. 100 percent recommend."

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for a year and a half now. It's prevented pregnancy, made my boobs bigger, and made my periods more regular and lighter. However, I have been severely depressed and anxious. I never realized that it was because of TriNessa due to the fact that I've been dealing with anxiety and depression for 7 years now. However, ever since I started, I have been so anxious that, at one point, I was borderline anorexic from being nauseous with no appetite. I've had severe sleep disorders that have stemmed from the anxiety and depression, and I've had serious thoughts of suicide on multiple occasions. DO NOT take TriNessa if you have a history of anxiety or depression!!!"
