For Birth Control "This medicine got a three-star rating only because I'm not pregnant. These pills make me so sick 24/7. I'm so tired, moody, irritable, nauseous like you wouldn't believe, and I've never had terrible cramps until I started taking this medication. I'm currently waiting for a response from my doctor about switching!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill for about 5 days. Previous to this, I’ve been on various types of birth control, but I’ve never had side effects like this. It has given me such bad stomach pains and nausea that I’m currently sitting in a hot bath at 5 a.m. because I got desperate to feel better, and I couldn’t sleep. Birth controls definitely have different effects on different people, so don’t let this turn you off, just be careful."

For Birth Control "I’m only on my second week of this pill and honestly do not like it. I have the worst nausea all day and am so tired all day long. My mood swings are crazy as well... constantly irritated. I will change it as soon as I can."

For Birth Control "It's been a month on the pills, and I have noticed spotting on the second and the beginning of the third placebo pills. I was very drowsy and drained, and my period was a little heavy, and the cramps weren't so bad, but I noticed during the spotting sometimes my blood was brown, and when my period actually started, it was brown. The pills seem okay, but if I have the same problem this month, I would try to change...."

For Ovarian Cysts "This stuff Mono-Linyah messed me up. I've been taking it for at least 5 months. I have PCOS. My periods were fine; light, regular, no cramping. It seemed to be helping my mood; then, out of nowhere, I started having panic attacks. I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety in the past and have had anxiety attacks, but never pure panic that lasted an entire day, much less an entire month. I also have had some personal things that could warrant anxiety, but not to this extreme. The entire month of December was a nightmare. I couldn't take deep breaths, I couldn't eat, I was nauseated all the time, and felt like I was on a constant roller coaster. I thought it was just the holidays, and once they were over, I'd feel better, and I did start feeling better, but then one night, I had a huge panic attack again. What changed? I thought I was getting better. Then it hit me; I had just started the new month over. I quit the next day. It's taken 6 days to feel even sort of better."

For Birth Control "I am ready to get off this pill. I have been on this pill now for a year and some change. I want to get back on my lower dosage because this pill is just horrible to me. I have been on BC pills for 10 years and never experienced what I am going through right now. I gained 20 lbs and changed nothing with my healthy eating habits, my migraines got so super bad I had to get an MRI to make sure everything was okay. I am usually nauseated and I spot a lot. Three weeks out of the month I am spotting or lightly bleeding with some bad-ass cramps. I have my appointment Thursday and I am ready to be done with this!!"

For Birth Control "I was on this medication for almost a month, and I’ve never been more miserable! Constantly nauseated/vomiting, anxiety and nervousness were crazy! I’m also in nursing school, which made it difficult for me to study and stay focused with being so sick! I do not recommend this medication! Also, getting it out of my system took 3-4 days. Too much estrogen for me!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Mono-Linyah for a little over a month now, and I can give nothing but negatives. I have the worst cystic acne on my chin that I haven’t experienced since I was 15. I’m 21 now, and this is ridiculous. I’m constantly nauseous and have bad migraines every week. I’m switching back to my old birth control. This is absolutely horrible. If I were you, I’d look for something else before getting this one."

For Birth Control "I have to say, in my personal experience, it caused no nausea, not excess bleeding, but the mood swings were horrible beyond belief. The first month of taking it, a little bit before my period started, I would just be angry for absolutely no reason. The next month, the same thing. It progressively got worse to the point I was having very dark thoughts, which I almost acted on. I stopped them immediately. That anger went away. I'm on another pill that works better now."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for 14 months, and initially, I got the most intense cravings ever, and as soon as I eat something, I feel nauseous to the point where I can’t eat anymore. Period is the same length but slightly lighter. I am still taking this pill but changing to the patch in a week because my side effects won’t go away. My mood swings have been all over the place. I find myself crying for no reason, and I’m never happy. I don’t even get out of the house, it’s so depressing. I am 5’7” and weight 115 lbs, and so far, I lost 6 pounds. I have nothing left to lose! Thought I would gain, but lost weight instead. I hope the patch will work better."

"Mono-Linyah is absolutely terrible. Worst birth control I’ve ever taken. Stay away from it. Made me so dizzy, nauseous, made me break out like crazy, made me gain weight, made my period 10 days when my period usually only lasts like 3 days. Screwed up my stomach, gave me so much gas. In all, worst decision I’ve ever made. And it’s only been 3 weeks."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for almost 10 months. It cleared most of my acne, and I had no breakthrough bleeding as I took it at the same time every day. I actually skipped my periods with this pill, no problem. But it has bloated me so much to where I think it's messing with my digestive system. It makes me very nauseous too. But the worst thing it has affected is my mood. I get so upset over small things and think the world is working against me. I've gone into pretty deep depression. So I decided to stop taking it, but I got into a relationship, so I needed to use something. So when I started back up again, I've been on my period for 3 weeks now. I finally just stopped taking it and am hoping to find something that works better for me."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking this med to help control my cycle better. Immediately made me gain weight, noticed increased acne, mood swings, excessive fatigue, and severe upset stomach. Within an hour, I would go from feeling hungry to nauseous, then it traveled down. I do not recommend this med. All of this just from one week of use."

For Endometriosis "Reading these reviews has really shed so much light on my situation. Since I started taking this pill, I've experienced extreme mood swings/depression. I often experience nausea and have gained 20 pounds in a year. I don't know if that is directly because of the pill or more related to the depression/exhaustion that I experience. On the bright side, my periods and cramps are much more manageable, I break out less, and I'm not pregnant. It does what it's supposed to do, but I don't think that it's right for me. I'm going to talk to my gyno to try to find a better fit."

For Birth Control "I took this for 5 months. I had severe cramps, nausea, heavy bleeding (with many blood clots). The symptoms got a little better in 3 months, so I kept taking it. Also, I noticed body hair decreased, so that was a plus. However, within the last week, I’ve experienced severe anxiety with racing thoughts to where I have discontinued this pill. My head is foggy, and I feel tense, with a general unwell feeling. Hoping this will ease now that my period is here. I let the nurse know, and she took me off of it. I know this will affect everyone differently, but if I can stop someone from experiencing this, then I’ll be happy. I do not recommend. I gave it a 2 because I did not get pregnant and the decrease in body hair growth."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this pill for about four months. My periods are regular now. Also, my sex drive has increased. But the first month on this pill, my whole face broke out with acne. (I’m still treating the breakouts.) I also became very depressed in the first two months. Sometimes when I eat, I get nausea, so I have to stop. Also, my skin has become itchy and my hair is shedding a lot. And my periods are still moderately heavy. In my case, I have more negatives than positives, so I will be switching."

For Birth Control "I feel bad that this medication has such bad reviews, but if we're being honest, switching from Sprintec to this was life-changing! Gave me zero side effects, unlike Sprintec. I did spot a little during the very first month, as well as some nausea if I didn't take it with food, but my body was adjusting to a different pill. Going on two years on this pill, and I don't think I can go back!"

For Birth Control "I got switched to this brand from Sprintec/Tri-Sprintec, and after reading reviews, I was so scared to even start taking it. But Mono-Linyah has been soooo much better than Sprintec, Tri-Sprintec, and Estarylla. I used to get nauseous immediately after taking those, had mild headaches, no appetite, and NO sex drive at all. Now, after only one month on Mono-Linyah, I feel a whole lot better. I have zero side effects after taking it, no nausea/headaches, and my sex drive is finally back. My period is the same as it was when I was on Sprintec, about 3-4 days long. The only downfall I’ve noticed is that my face has a few more small pimples the week of my period, but nothing too bad, as they’re very tiny (and could be caused by anything, not just the BC). Overall, I’m happy and will continue taking this."

For Birth Control "Honestly, in the first two months I did have side effects like nausea, weight gain, and got bad acne, but I knew that my body would get used to it. After that, my body went back to normal and my skin cleared up, I wasn’t nauseous anymore and I started losing weight easily. As for mental health, it never made me get depression or anxiety, but then again, I never had that in the past, so maybe that’s why I never developed it. My periods came every month and I never got cramps or heavy blood, before I was on the pill, my cramps were bad and painful, so I’m glad they’re not anymore. Again, all bodies are different, but I really like this birth control for me."

For Birth Control "I’m sure this BC works for some people, but it did not for me. I had the worst nausea of my life, I had to stop taking it. I also had bad headaches and was so tired from not being able to eat or sleep. I will definitely be switching to a progesterone-only BC, this has too much estrogen for me."

For Endometriosis "I had been on the Depo-Provera shot for many years, having a good experience. Towards the end, I had some bleeding. I went off it for 2 1/2 years. After meeting with my doctor, he put me on Mono-Linyah. I am 27 years old, 5 feet 1 inch, and weigh 115 lbs, possible endometriosis. I started on the first day of my cycle at 7:30 in the morning. By 10 am, I was experiencing a migraine, and by afternoon, I was nauseous. This continued for 6 days. Symptoms progressively got worse. The migraine was so bad I could hardly think straight. My stomach hurt so bad with cramps and gas. I was vomiting every day by 3 in the afternoon. As well, my left ovary, which was already enlarged, had the worst pains I’ve ever felt. I’ve had cysts rupture the past year and cause nausea and vomiting, but I’ve never had a pain this bad. It honestly felt like I had a baseball for my left ovary that was about to explode. I took my last pill on day 6 at 7:30 am, and the next day at 8 pm, I was finally feeling better."

For Acne "I've been on for about 1.5-2 years. I was on Norethindrone and Paragard (IUD). I had to get off the Paragard because it would always shift, painful, and I didn't know it, but I was having a reaction to the copper. The Mono-Linyah was prescribed because of my acne and severe period bleeding. I have never done the bleed week because my doctor said I could just skip it. I will say I have gained 20-25 pounds in this short amount of time. Nothing with my diet or exercise has changed. I am nauseous, lightheaded, and hormonal. Oddly, it cleared up my face acne really well, but I started breaking out on my back and butt, which was really bad. I also was losing hair really badly, and I'm not sure if it was from this or not, but it really hasn't cleared up. My biggest issue is weight gain, nausea, and crazy cravings."

For Birth Control "This was the second brand of birth control I've tried after the first one made me feel horrible emotionally. However, this one isn't that much better. It started out fine during the first pack, but then it started making me so nauseous that I woke up to throw up in the middle of the night. This also happened a different night on the second pack. It hasn't happened since, but now I occasionally feel like throwing up or have other pain in my stomach area. The other issue is how much it makes me sweat. Before trying the pill, I would have the occasional anxiety sweats, but nothing unmanageable. Now, sweat literally drips down my arms, especially during the placebo week. I can't get my body to a comfortable temperature on my period, and it makes an already hard week that much more difficult. I don't think this pill works for my body at all, so I will definitely switch. It is very effective though, I will say."
