For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Mono-Linyah for about 6 months now, and it works in the form of preventing pregnancy, but it has created quite a few other issues for me. I didn’t break out, and my periods got lighter, and my cramps did go away, but my mood swings were terrible. I got super depressed a month into taking it. I also was always so irritated and moody that it created a lot of tension in my relationships. I never realized it was from the pill for a few months, and I ended up getting even more frustrated because I couldn’t do anything about the way I was acting and feeling. My stress did go away while taking the pill, but my sex drive also completely disappeared as well."

For Endometriosis "I have been taking this medication for 4 months now and have been bleeding heavily for 4 months straight with severe cramping. I have been having severe mood swings and increased depression. This was prescribed to help slow down the process of my endometriosis returning, and my bleeding has been heavier than before my surgery."

For Birth Control "I was originally on a different pill, but my insurance wouldn’t cover the name brand, so I was switched to Mono-Linyah. The first month I took this, I suffered from painful cramps and mood swings. I attributed these to switching birth control, and after the first month, they went away. I continued using this pill for a year with little side effects and a lighter, shorter period, yay! But after a year, all the benefits stopped. My acne has exploded! My hair is thinning and falling out. I bleed randomly between periods, and during my regular period, I experience horrible cramps and really heavy bleeding. I started experiencing abnormal levels of anxiety and panic attacks, and I slipped into a really dark depressive state for 2-3 months. The only reason I’m still taking this pill is because it does its job in the sense that it prevents pregnancy. I will be seeing a doctor soon to switch."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for about 2 years. At first, this pill does the job, relieves cramps and lessens bleeding, but recently these symptoms have come back. I have miserable cramping, heavy bleeding, and extreme backaches (to the point I can’t walk). Along with this, about a week before my period even starts, I not only become depressed, I also experience almost suicidal thoughts. These things have made my period one of the most miserable things that I have to deal with each month."

For Birth Control "I've been on birth control since I was 14 because of horrible periods and cramps, and have tried a lot of different pills. I am now 22 and have been on Mono-Linyah for a few years now. At first, the pill was a godsend as I was experiencing a lot of acne on Sprintec, and this pill cleared it up. However, I feel like as I get older I'm beginning to experience a lot more PMS. I cry, get mad, and feel overall depressed and low during placebo week. My periods have gotten super heavy, and my cramps are back with a vengeance. This pill worked for me when I was younger, but now that I'm getting older, it seems to be working less effectively."

For Birth Control "Y'all, this Mono-Linyah BC was terrible for me. I had run out of my regular Sprintec prescription and had to take this as a backup. This was one of the worst months of my life. I'm talking mood swings that made me actually feel like I was a crazy person. Extreme highs and lows. I've suffered from depression since age 15 (I'm 22 now) and anxiety for the past 3 years, and this made it so much worse for me. It got to the point where I was self-harming, which I've never done in the past. Also, I had acne from age 14-21, and when I got on Sprintec last year, it cleared it up completely! As soon as I started this BC, however, it started coming back :( I would avoid this BC at all costs! It is not worth the emotional damage to you and your loved ones as a result of the mood swings."

For Birth Control "I'm usually not one to write reviews like this, but this pill caused me so much grief I feel I need to. Anyone who has any form of mental illness, BEWARE of this pill. I had such terrible depression and anxiety while on this pill that I couldn't get out of bed for days on end. It also affected my thyroid so severely I lost almost 50 pounds in two months without doing anything to change my diet or activity level. I have never had this much acne on my face in my entire life, to the point I don't like to leave my house anymore. One thing I will say, it didn't affect the flow of my period very much, it stayed relatively consistent as if I wasn't on the pill. I don't recommend this pill to anyone, really. It caused a lot of hardship these past few weeks that I wouldn't wish on anybody."

For Birth Control "During the time I took this medication, I gained nearly 25 lbs with no change in my eating and exercising habits. Towards the end of my nearly 2-year experience, I began to get horrible migraines very frequently. They were unlike any I had ever had before, I wouldn’t be able to go on with my day if I started to develop one, and oftentimes sleeping them off did not work. I believe it changed my mood drastically and caused excess anxiety and waves of depression. And the worst part, my sex drive was absolutely 0. Now that I have stopped taking this pill, I have further realized how awful it made me feel! I just got Kyleena placed a few weeks ago, and I’m hoping that will help me continue my path to feeling my normal self after 2 years. I gave this a 4-star because I never got pregnant while taking this correctly, and it was easily accessible."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for 14 months, and initially, I got the most intense cravings ever, and as soon as I eat something, I feel nauseous to the point where I can’t eat anymore. Period is the same length but slightly lighter. I am still taking this pill but changing to the patch in a week because my side effects won’t go away. My mood swings have been all over the place. I find myself crying for no reason, and I’m never happy. I don’t even get out of the house, it’s so depressing. I am 5’7” and weight 115 lbs, and so far, I lost 6 pounds. I have nothing left to lose! Thought I would gain, but lost weight instead. I hope the patch will work better."

For Birth Control "Mono-Linyah was great at first, but then I started to notice a change in my mood. It literally made me super anxious and depressed! Like I couldn’t even step out of my house. It increased my appetite, but because I was so depressed, I lost weight. However, it did help my skin tremendously, so I have a love/hate relationship with it!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control my entire teen years and now into adulthood. I struggle with both anxiety and depression, so it is very hard to see if this pill has contributed. As far as acne goes, it hasn’t helped at all, and I still have awful breakouts. Ironically, my skin is the clearest on placebo week, if that tells you anything. I only continue to take this because this helps tremendously with my awful bed-ridden cramps. I have not gained any weight with this pill, but I did go up two cup sizes back in high school when I first started taking it."

For Birth Control "I began taking Mono-Linyah to help with menstrual pain, but I've only taken it for a week, so I can't comment on its effectiveness in that regard. However, I have diagnosed depression and self-diagnosed borderline personality disorder - I would not recommend this birth control to those who share my situation. While taking this medication, I've experienced worse depression and awful mood swings, to the point of paranoid delusions and suicidal thoughts - those of which I haven't had after years of steady recovery. Please be safe and keep an eye on your mental health if you take this medication."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for almost 10 months. It cleared most of my acne, and I had no breakthrough bleeding as I took it at the same time every day. I actually skipped my periods with this pill, no problem. But it has bloated me so much to where I think it's messing with my digestive system. It makes me very nauseous too. But the worst thing it has affected is my mood. I get so upset over small things and think the world is working against me. I've gone into pretty deep depression. So I decided to stop taking it, but I got into a relationship, so I needed to use something. So when I started back up again, I've been on my period for 3 weeks now. I finally just stopped taking it and am hoping to find something that works better for me."

For Endometriosis "Reading these reviews has really shed so much light on my situation. Since I started taking this pill, I've experienced extreme mood swings/depression. I often experience nausea and have gained 20 pounds in a year. I don't know if that is directly because of the pill or more related to the depression/exhaustion that I experience. On the bright side, my periods and cramps are much more manageable, I break out less, and I'm not pregnant. It does what it's supposed to do, but I don't think that it's right for me. I'm going to talk to my gyno to try to find a better fit."

For Birth Control "I switched my birth control after 5 years from being on the Depo shot to taking these pills. I have been on the pills for 4 months now, and let me tell you, it is the most horrible experience ever. I am bleeding heavily every period, and I know the last week is supposed to be my period week, but I have periods every other week it seems like. Another symptom I have had is very bad depression. I came to the conclusion that it is because of the birth control pills that are making me depressed. I have never in my life been depressed before, if you know me, you know I am not like that at all. I cry a lot, my cramps are bad. I am very emotional and moody! I don’t recommend it, and like everyone says, everybody’s body is different, and I could just be having these side effects because I’m switching after all those years, but me personally, I don’t recommend this pill. I am going to try a different BC pill and see if I like them better!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this pill for about four months. My periods are regular now. Also, my sex drive has increased. But the first month on this pill, my whole face broke out with acne. (I’m still treating the breakouts.) I also became very depressed in the first two months. Sometimes when I eat, I get nausea, so I have to stop. Also, my skin has become itchy and my hair is shedding a lot. And my periods are still moderately heavy. In my case, I have more negatives than positives, so I will be switching."

For Birth Control "I was on this for 2 months. I wanted to give it a chance. Immediately upon taking it, I was extremely fatigued. I spent most days in bed and was unable to care for my kids. I did bare minimum. Usually, I’m bursting with energy and would describe myself as a super mom. I gained over 10 pounds, I constantly looked 4 months pregnant and was extremely bloated. My clothes were tight on me. I was irritable and felt depressed. No libido. My placebo week, instantly I felt great. The doctor said I was imagining it. As soon as I started again, I felt awful. One week after throwing them away, I lost 5 pounds and my energy has returned. I feel great. It WASN'T all in my head."

"I am currently 36 years old and was given Mono-Linyah after being on Sprintec for several years. Despite this being a generic form of Sprintec and being reassured that my body should experience nothing out of the ordinary, my body reacted very negatively to Mono-Linyah. I experienced a horrendous breakout after being on this pill, which is highly unusual for me and frankly never occurs. This, of course, made me quite self-conscious. My mood swings were also very bad, and I became tremendously depressed throughout my use of this pill. I did not notice any weight gain or loss. I became severely unhappy with both my emotional state and skin health changing. The only thing that I personally changed in my routine during my use of Mono-Linyah was my use of Mono-Linyah. I stopped using this birth control after a week, as I could not take the side effects anymore. I am happy for those that can use Mono-Linyah and have a positive experience with it. This is not the case for everyone, sadly."

For Birth Control "I was so scared to start taking this pill because I came on here and read all the negative reviews. But what you have to remember is that everyone's body is different and will react differently on this medication. For me, I have not had any changes whatsoever. I am still completely the same person I was before I started taking Mono-Linyah. No mood swings, cravings, bleeding, depression, or anything negative like that. If you are about to start this medication and are worried after seeing all the terrible reviews, just remember I was scared to take it too and I couldn't be happier with it. I have nothing bad to say about it! Just remember everyone is different and if you have a negative reaction to it there are plenty of other options to try!"
