For Birth Control "I was prescribed this medication to ease the effects caused by my uterine fibroids (extremely heavy periods with large clots, having to change a super tampon plus a thick pad every two hours, irregular cycles, pain from head to toe). I am not using this medication for birth control, as I am not sexually active. Prior to taking this medication, I had been off hormonal birth control for about four years. Unfortunately, this medication is not helping me, aside from clearing up most of my hormonal acne! My periods are still heavy but now last two to three times longer with constant spotting and discharge of old blood in between. I have intense bouts of nausea and dizziness, along with headaches, diarrhea, complete loss of energy and motivation, and moderate pain everywhere. I've never experienced side effects this bad from birth control before."

For Acne "After 2 1/2 years of horrible acne, during which I was on antibiotics and topicals that never ended up working, my dermatologist and doctor suggested I should try birth control. I went to Planned Parenthood and was put on Microgestin Fe 1/20. After about 6 months on this pill, I actually lost weight (due to nausea at first), breasts grew, lighter periods every month, and no change in everything else. As for my acne, it probably got better about 40%, but still had at least 3-5 pimples/cysts all the time and no reduction in face oiliness. Trial and error, now trying Ortho Tri Cyclen."

For Birth Control "So I've been on this pill for two months now. At first, it was a little rough. I was nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. Every time I ate, my stomach hurt like anything. Then, about the third row down, it went all away. Now my face still gets acne, and for some odd reason, my face is dry as well. Never used to be like that, smh. And I've gained weight on this. I was almost down to my pre-pregnancy weight, then bam, almost gained all the weight back, which was about 30 pounds. I've had one period, no cramps, which is ok. I haven't had a period yet for the second month, though."

For Birth Control "I had been taking Microgestin for 2 years, lost my insurance, and had to take a break from my birth control. Finally got my insurance after about a 6-month break. I went to see my doctor, and she gave me Lo Loestrin. I took that for 3 months, but got no periods and no side effects. I wanted at least a light period to know I’m not pregnant. I was then given this Blisovi. The first week was bad with nausea and headaches. It was horrible, but the third week it got extremely bad. I started to get vertigo, and it absolutely wrecked my month. I went to a concert, had one drink, and almost fainted. I’ve taken 1/20 before, but something about this BC is not working. Good luck, ladies, hope this helps."

"If you suffer from mental health issues like depression or anxiety, don't take Junel Fe. I started this a couple of months ago to slow down my endometriosis bleeding and pains from it. Well, the past few weeks I've been in a horrible state of mind. Dark thoughts, life doesn't seem worth living, high anxiety, and irritability. Yes, it has slowed down my bleeding, but I'm also experiencing vaginal dryness and nausea, too. So I'm stopping this now. I already suffer from mental illness, and this made it a thousand times worse. I'm glad I looked at these reviews because I was wondering why I was feeling like this all of a sudden. Hope I helped someone else who is going through the same."

For Birth Control "As a 21-year-old woman, I’ve taken this pill for some four years now after becoming sexually active and truly have had little to no problems. I exercise about 4 times a week and don’t have the best diet given my age. But while on this pill, I have stayed the same weight, give or take 5 lbs depending on my diet and exercise. I never had acne-prone skin, even in my teens, but the pill didn’t make it worse. I never had headaches, nausea, or other common side effects. My period was always pretty light with minimal cramping, and after taking this pill for some years now, I haven’t gotten my period in maybe two years. IT IS AWESOME. My insurance even covers it so that it’s free for me. The only con with this pill is my lowered sex drive (though I was never really an animal anyway) and vaginal dryness. Definitely would recommend."

For Birth Control "I was so nervous reading the reviews, but I've had a great experience so far! My last prescription made me so nauseous I had to stop mid-pack (it was my first birth control experience too). I was scared to try Junel Fe, but I really love it so far! I've been more bloated than usual, and my boobs have been sore, but other than that I am okay! Been taking it at night to reduce nausea, and that's been helpful, but sometimes I'll get a little dizzy during the day. Usually doesn't last long and I can resume normal activities!"

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I’ve ever taken. How could this be sold to women as a form of contraceptive? I was on it for 3 months and experienced terrible nausea, headaches, back pain, cramping. You name it. I was originally taking Junel and had no issues. I am now done taking birth control as my body cannot take this anymore."

For Birth Control "I have been on several different forms of the pill for the last 5 years. I have been on this one for the past 6 months, and it is hands down the worst one to date. It gave me mood swings, no sex drive at all, horrible migraines, nausea, bloating, anxiety, and depression. I stopped taking it completely 2 weeks ago and have already noticed a huge difference. Yes, this pill is great at preventing pregnancy, but that's about it, and the side effects are not worth it. Please do not take this pill."

For Birth Control "After many years on Lo Loestrin, I started to experience break-through bleeding, so my doctor switched me to Junel, and then my pharmacy switched me to Aurovela. This was several months ago, and they have been some of the worst months of my life. I've always had anxiety, but I've never experienced this level of anxiety and depression before. My mood has been all over the place, and I've generally just felt horrible (low energy, frequent nausea, etc.). A couple of days ago, I ended up in the ER with dangerously high blood pressure (I've never had problems with blood pressure and have always run low). The switch to Aurovela occurred right when the symptoms started, but I had experienced some major life changes around the same time, so it was only recently that I realized everything I've been experiencing is due to this medication. After seeing these reviews and doing some research, I am certain this pill is responsible for everything I've been going through, and I will be stopping this birth control immediately."

For Birth Control "My first three months on this pill were like a DREAM. I switched to it from Orsythia (which I had been taking for 3 years) because I was having painful periods and my sex drive was gone. This pill completely stopped my period with NO spotting or anything, and never any cramps. No acne, no mood changes. My breasts even grew. I was so happy. Now I am on month 4, and it is hell. I'm having migraines and nausea all day, and bad mood swings. I am stopping this pill and going back to my OB."

For Birth Control "I was on this for a month and a half. First month I was so nauseous and had horrible headaches. Also had been super anxious and emotional. Start of my second pill pack I got borderline cystic acne out of nowhere. I just switched back to my old birth control. I googled the reviews tonight and saw that 80% had negative effects, no wonder I feel and look like this. I can’t believe anyone thought to prescribe this to me, I’m actually livid. Four days before Christmas and I have over 25 pimples on my face. When I say last Friday my skin was clean, I’m not kidding. Livid."

For Birth Control "This is my first time taking any form of birth control. I’ve been on this pill for about 5 days, and I’m feeling fine. The first day, I did experience some slight nausea, but it went away after around ten minutes. I don’t get any more of it (for now at least)! I haven’t noticed any side effects so far except for my period already starting to be a lot lighter. No acne, mood swings, weight gain, or anything so far. I’ll keep you guys updated next month :)."

For Birth Control "The week before Thanksgiving, I started Aurovela. I experienced 24-hour nausea, oversleeping (one day, slept 15 hours!). I could not keep my eyes open for anything. I was vomiting 2-3 times a day, usually only stomach acid or water because I couldn't keep food down. I had cold sweats, and my entire body was achy. Worst out of all of this was my anxiety and depression. I don't remember the last time my anxiety was as bad as it was. It was terrifying. I had initially thought I may have had food poisoning. During my second week, I was examining everything that could be contributing to my being sick, the only one thing was the birth control. My doctor stopped me immediately, told me to wait until my next menstrual cycle, and then she gave me a lower dose. I was very skeptical, and for good reason. I started it 3 days ago and am already experiencing the same symptoms. I will contact her and discontinue use. The increase in anxiety and depression was surely the worst part of it all. Be aware."

For Birth Control "I'm 26, first birth control pills I've ever used. I'm on my fourth month, getting close to starting the fifth pack. Pros thus far: no breast tenderness (they did increase in size), no acne (skin actually cleared up), no weight gain (I'm very active to begin with), no nausea or headaches, much lighter periods (prior to the pill, my periods were heavy enough where both a pad and a tampon were needed... Now a tampon alone is good enough!) Cons: ever since starting it, I've been having two periods a month... 15-day cycle and it's about two days longer than the period prior to taking this pill. The pros definitely outweigh the con, but I can't stand having two periods a month!"

For Birth Control "My biggest fear with BC pills was the weight gain - I can assure you now that this does not happen and is somewhat of a myth. I'm married, been on this pill for about two plus years and haven't had any scares or issues. I get a little nausea when starting a new pack, so I always take it at night (my only real hang-up). Never emotional, super light and predictable periods. Very happy."

For Birth Control "I have never been on birth control and was always kind of opposed to it, given the horror stories of side effects I had heard of. However, my gyno talked me into trying Taytulla. I was so nervous to try it, especially after reading some of these reviews, but honestly, I am so glad I did. I just finished the first month, and so far the only side effect I've noticed is an increase in appetite. That's it! No nausea, mood changes, headaches, or anything like that. There was one day with some random, very minimal spotting. Right now I'm on my first period since starting Taytulla, and it is drastically a lighter flow, which is really nice. Another perk I've noticed is clearer skin. It has only been one month, so I really hope things continue this way and no worse side effects present themselves. Based on my experience so far, I would definitely recommend it, but it seems it's different for everyone."

For Birth Control "Horrible. Absolutely horrible. My pharmacy switched me from Junel to Aurovela. Here’s what I have experienced: headaches, nausea, dizziness, acne, crying, yeast infection, and probably worst of all, anger. Like, someone is going to get hurt, anger. In my 22 years on BC pills, this is the worst one. I’m going to stop these and wait till my next refill and insist I get Junel again."

For Birth Control "Before I started this medication, I had read reviews of it, and I was horrified. It's now been a year and four months that I've been on Junel Fe, and I honestly haven't encountered any issues. Before I was on birth control, I was depressed, had anxiety attacks very often, always tired, had my period for at least six days, and had a lot of cramping. I never had any issues with having acne. Ever since I started, I feel like a whole new person. Zero anxiety attacks, no longer depressed, very light periods that last three days (at most), no cramping at all, and still no issues with acne. I constantly see reviews that other people leave saying that they're constantly nauseous or having headaches or gaining weight, but I personally haven't had any of these issues. Although this medication doesn't work well for some people, it works perfectly for me! Don't let other reviews discourage you. I almost didn't start using this medication due to the bad reviews I had read. I'm also glad I'm not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I have tried multiple birth control pills over the years and have never been able to find one that I could tolerate, either physically or emotionally. I am on my first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe, and surprisingly I haven't had any debilitating side effects. I am just entering my 3rd week of pills, and I am bloated and have started spotting. I'm not sure if this is breakthrough bleeding or if I'm going to have a full-blown period. Regardless, I am going to wait it out, as I'm thrilled not to have any nausea or intense mood swings. So far, so good!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking my Junel 1/20 for almost a month now. I just have my placebo pills left for next week. I haven’t noticed any bloating or weight gain. However, I have noticed a little more acne, my temper is a little worse, and it sometimes makes me nauseous. The biggest issue I am having is becoming very dizzy at times, mostly at night when I lay down for bed. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue or if I might be getting dizzy for other health reasons. Thanks!"

For Birth Control "Look, you're going to read all of these 'DON'T TAKE THIS PILL' reviews, and the truth of the matter is you don't know until you try it. Everyone's body is different and will react differently to medication. So, don't let these bad reviews scare you away. Try it, if you don't like it, you can change it. Now to my review. I got this pill as a trial to see if I liked it. I ended up loving it. I had very few side effects. I think the most I had was a headache and nausea. Oh, and about 2 weeks of breakthrough bleeding. But of course, my insurance doesn't cover it... If it did, I wouldn't be switching. The only crap thing about it is the price if it's not covered by insurance, which is $171."

For Birth Control "I was switched from Junel FE to Blisovi FE due to a change in my prescription drug coverage. (Both are generic drugs for Loestrin.) I've been taking Blisovi for three months and have not experienced any negative side effects. No breakthrough bleeding, headaches, acne, nausea, or weight changes. I'm not sure if this is because I switched from one generic equivalent to another, but my experience has been very positive. My periods seem to be even lighter than when I was on Junel and come like clockwork. I was nervous to try Blisovi after reading all of the negative reviews, but I feel people tend to share negative experiences more than the positive ones. This drug works and is affordable. Give it a try!"
