For Birth Control "I started having panic attacks during the placebo pill week of taking Nortrel 1/35. I am not one to have panic attacks... at all. Just recently, (over a year after the panic attacks started), I realized I was switched to this from my original Necon around the time I started having the attacks. My doctor switched me back to Necon, I took the first pill and the next day... panic attack. I've been reading women say they have panic attacks when they're taking this. Mine is the opposite. I have them when I'm not on it. How weird is that? I'm thinking it's going to take a total readjustment of my body to get over it but these panic attacks are debilitating. I dont know what to do. I feel so helpless and stuck."

For Birth Control "I started the Nortrel 1/35 birth control a week ago and have been nauseous ever since!!! I have no appetite, everything makes me nauseous. I have HORRIBLE mood swings and starting to get cystic acne. I was on depo shot in 2017 but got off after reading many horror stories. I decided on the pill because It was the safest form to me. Despite all the horror stories I can say my experience on depo wasn’t nearly as bad as being on the pills and definitely thinking about switching back!"

For Birth Control "This medication served its purpose, no pregnancy or pregnancy scares. Yet, periods seem to be an extreme hormonal withdrawal and a aterrible emotional state for me. My period was very regular and light but the emotional instability I felt for days during my period was pretty rough. Other than that one issue I’d recommend nortrel 1/35 I’m switching to a cooper IUD to hopefully steer clear of synthetic hormones to try and avoid the withdrawals. Being close to natural always feels best ladies. Best of luck! "

For Birth Control "I hate this drug. Supposedly they took Necon 1/35 off the market so Walgreens gave me this. I didn't have a period for three months and it tore my stomach up so much that I had to miss work days due to upset stomach and vomiting. I asked to be put on the name brand drug. Ortho Novum 1/35, while it is expensive $65 per month it's worth not having all the pain and discomfort."

For Birth Control "I have been on modicon in the past with no side effects except for a little spotting. Went off birth control pills for 6 years. Just started Nortrel and they said it's generic for Modicon. I only lasted a week and a half on it. I had severe nausea and got acne from it. I stopped taking it for 2 days now and I got a full on fake period. Just wanted to let people know about the nausea if they are sensitive to that type of thing."

For Birth Control "Well when I started this pill, it took 3-4 months to regulate my period and it worked for about 2-3 months. Then I started missing periods and it was gone for 2 months. Finally my period came but I had it for 2 weeks. So then I start the new pack, I'm good for a week then I got my period. It lasts for 4 days then it stops for 5 days. Then it comes back for a full heavy week. It stopped for a couple days and then it came back at the HOMECOMING DANCE. All of this happened before the placebo pills. So currently I am transitioning to a different one. Also it made me very irritable and lowered my sex drive by a ton "

"Been using it for 6 weeks now. Periods are now at every 2 weeks with 1 week off. Bloating, increase water retention. Menstrual cramps are horrible. Sex drive has decreased. Only been using this to decrease menstrual flow, and seen any difference, now hate the product. Only upside....my breast size increased."

For Birth Control "I switched to Nortrel 1/35 after a horrible experience with Ortho Tri Cyclen. With Ortho, I had migraines constantly (never had them before taking that pill), so I had to switch. My gyno recommended I try Nortrel, and skip my period for the first three months. Those first three months were definitely the worst time I had with Nortrel. I had cramping and it wouldn’t go away when I tried to use the bathroom & I was very nauseous and extremely sensitive to smells (trash and minor body odor from others). Once I made it past the three months, I was fine. No cramps, no migraines, lighter periods, and less severe PMS symptoms. I’ve been on it for a few years now and I haven’t wanted to switch. I do still get ovarian cysts occasionally (which I had before birth control) & spotting every now and then. But overall I would recommend, with the recommendation to just fight through the first three months."

For Birth Control "I am a 26 year old woman and this is my first time EVER on birth control. I was recently diagnosed with a 5 cm uterine fibroid and was recommended this BC by my obgyn in hopes that it regulates my period and helps with the HORRIBLE pain. As of right now I’ve been on my period for 7 days. It has been HEAVY, nonstop, and with very bad pain and giant blood clots. I started this BC on Monday and it is now Wednesday, my period has not stopped or gotten any lighter at all. I Don’t think I’ve had any side effects yet but it could be because I’ve only been taking it for less than a week. Last night I woke up from my sleep with nausea and threw up. I have been feeling fatigued but it can be due to my anemia and constant massive blood loss. I’m really hoping this BC works for me even if it takes my body some time to get used to it. I don’t want to give this BC a low rating because I still don’t know how my body will continue to react to it but I’ll come back and give an update."

For Birth Control "I've started this birth control and its been shy of a month for me. I did experience nauseousness for the first week then it went away. I hardly had an appetite as well. However, I noticed large amounts of hair shedding after I showered each time... and my hair is noticeable feeling thinner than ever before. Very depressing! I had to completely stop taking it."

For Birth Control "I was on Ocella for few years. My insurance stopped covering it so my OBGYN recommended to switch to Nortel! This pill is the worst! My bleeding literally doesn’t stop! Even when I’m on the 3 weeks of the pack I still bleed! After going back-and-forth with my doctor he asked me to stop taking the pills for a while and my bleeding is extremely heavy that I can barely even walk! I don't like this pill and will never go back on it"

For Birth Control "So far I haven't really had issues with this birth control yet and I have been using it for 3 months. The main issue I had is that it made my back breakout more than usual but it seems like it's getting better now. I take it at night so it doesn't make me have any nausea. My periods are still not regulated normally with it yet but I have noticed they have gotten lighter, yet they are still painful."

For Birth Control "I had been on less strong pills before switching to this one, and I wish I never switched. This pill is absolutely awful. Prolonged bleeding and continuous spotting, terrible. TERRIBLE. constipation and bloating, and extreme anxiety and depression. Only pro is that my skin has been doing better. I wouldn’t give this pill to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I’m 20 and have been taking Nortrel for about 3-4 years now. I have little complaints about this brand of birth control. When I think about it, it definitely modified my personality a little—it is easy for me to be sad or anxious. However, I have had no physical issues with this birth control. I definitely would recommend."

"They switched me from Necon to Nortrel saying it was the "same". Within the first week I knew it was bad for my body. My acne got worse and hurt, and my doctor said it should be helping my acne get better. Since I started 6 months ago with Nortrel I have had dry eyes and now I have a hard time seeing far away, which my eye doctor said is due to dry eyes since I have 20/20 vision. I was on Necon for 4 years and was so upset they switched me. I'm stopping the pill completely now and I'm worried about side effects of going off but it's not worth the dry eyes and other bad side effects. Very disappointed."

For Birth Control "This is my first birth control pill I've tried and the first night taking this and I woke up with severe nausea and have been in the bathroom vomiting on and off for 4 hours now. Hopefully the nausea will go away and the vomiting will subside so the pill can do its job."

For Birth Control "I have not had a good experience with this brand. Like others, I used to take Necon, which I liked then got switched to this brand. Since the switch I have noticed an increase in anxiety and mild depression. I am a teacher so that comes with enough stress. This medication seemed to worsen it. I have never experienced such high levels of anxiety. After reading the reviews of this mediation I see now how it can affect some people. I am not going to continue with this brand."

For Birth Control "This birth control was awful. While it did it's job in ensuring pregnancy prevention, I experienced the worst headaches and cystic acne of my life. Horrible mood swings and painful cramping. Do not take this medication if you have other options."

For Birth Control "I'm not pregnant after taking Nortel 1/35, so that's a plus. I haven't had many of the side effects some others have. I occasionally get nauseous and I get a pretty annoying headache during the placebo week, but other than that I have 0 complaints. It's important to remember everyone reacts differently to medications."

For Birth Control "I have been on this for 2 years since I was 18 and have had a great experience. My doctor started me off on Taytulla and I had so much anxiety from it. It cleared my skin, my boobs did grow a little, and I don’t notice a change in weight gain at all. Protects from pregnancy. I started the pill to help with acne and to help with me being emotional the week before my period, during, and the week after which left me with one good week out of the month where I wouldn’t cry everything! It fixed it after a month and my skin after about 2 months. One side affect I noticed was my skin did not tan the same and I was more prone to burning. Now that it’s been 2 years, this side affect has subsided. But so has it’s positive affects. I feel like I break out more now than I did in the past 2 years and that I am starting to be more emotional like I used to be for a longer amount of time around my period. Might just be the point I’m at in life but figured i’d share!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Nortrel since 2020. I was on no previous birth control, so this is the first and only one I have used. I didn't experience any weight gain, and it has served its purpose. I was with a long-term partner for the first two years I was on it and had no pregnancy scares, and it's been the same in my current relationship. My period is now regular and trackable, and my cramps are still painful but not as bad as before. Before the pill, I had extremely randomized irregular periods and unbearable cramps that were so bad they would make me vomit. I haven't had to worry about that at all since I've been on it. My only complaint is that it has affected my mood. I feel I am much more irritable, and I have battled with feelings of unmotivated and depressed. I can't necessarily say that's completely from the pill, but it absolutely could be a side effect of it. Overall though, it does its job, and I wouldn't switch to anything else."

For Birth Control "I am 32 yo female and had a hysterectomy so I only have my ovaries. Fast forward a couple years and I’m moody and having acne on my chin so bad. I was on this birth control as a teen and it worked great. So I asked my gyno if I can go back on this. I’m on my second month and my acne is cleared up and my moods have never been better. Even sleeping better. The only down side I am having is my boobs hurt and they when from a A cup to almost a C. If they did not hurt it would be great. I know everyone is different but this is my experience on the Nortrel 1/35. I am going to stay back in this as long as I can. My gyno and I agreed that since I don’t have periods anymore ( from my hysterectomy) that I only take the yellow hormonal pill. I don’t take the placebo so every three week I start a new pack. I hope this review helps."

For Birth Control "Like most, I was taking Necon which was discontinued so Nortrel was / is its replacement. Nortrel has been the worst experience ever, especially days before and during my cycle. Per my experience ( migraines, nausea, and stomach cramps that feel like something is ripping it apart) all of which I didn't experience before, I don't think this drug is safe. I don't have cysts but the side effects of this drug is sure to cause some problems. I've decided to have my doctor change my prescription."

For Birth Control "I’m very emotional & depressed. I feel LOW. All I want to do is lay down & eat. I’ve been sleeping longer. I have no energy. It’s making my endo cramps worse. Just horrible. I haven’t been on it long but I’m feeling worse day by day. I switched to this birth control as the last birth control I was own gave me severe acne. And when I stopped it started to clear up. "

For Birth Control "Just like everyone else I was on Necon for years no problem whatsoever. I got switched to Nortrel a year ago I'd say. I was a normal healthy person until I started this darn pill! The worst part about this pill is the nausea! I get sick almost every single day vomiting for hours and not being able to sleep due to an upset stomach and taking the pill a few hours prior. it's ridiculous. As for my periods they're all messed up. I could or could not get it who knows. For a year now I've seen doctors thinking it's some type of GI stomach issue. I'm beginning to think it's the stupid pill I am officially done taking these pills and if I start getting better I'm doing something about this as an writing to a company. I can see many females health have been at risk due to this pill and that is not alright! Nortrel watch out your reviews about to be bad.I've also been experiencing horrible moods along with depression and twice the anxiety I've ever had.making me feel like I'm unhealthy and insane."
