For Birth Control "I hate this pill, and I wish I never would have tried it. I had a cyst on one of my ovaries that ruptured, and it caused me to have a period for a month or two straight, so my doctor put me on this pill. I have gained weight, my chin is constantly broken out, I had absolutely no sex drive, and worst of all, my emotions are crazy. It's taken a toll on my relationship. I cry about the dumbest things. I was never like this before I took those pills. I quit taking it before I finished the first month because I got to the point where I hated myself and everyone around me. I haven't taken it in months, and I still have days where I feel miserable, and my sex drive has not gotten better yet at all. I do not recommend this pill at all. It has ruined me."

For Birth Control "The only good thing that came from being on this pill was that it prevented pregnancy. Unfortunately, the side effects forced me off it. In the beginning, there was cystic acne (face, chest, back), mild weight gain/bloating, and mild mood swings. I gave it some time, my body just needed to adjust. After four months, the acne cleared up, but the mood swings worsened and depression kicked in. It only got worse from there. Just before stopping this pill at nine months, I felt like a completely different person-crying over every little thing, everything irritated me, little sex drive, constantly depressed. These side effects were having a huge negative impact on my life, totally not worth it to me."

For Birth Control "I am towards the end of my third month on Lo Loestrin Fe, and I'm wearing a pad for spotting half the month still. It tends to start the second week of pills in the pack and lasts about a week, then it goes away and comes back about 4 days before the white pills. I'm not really sure when the spotting stops and the period begins. The bleeding is mostly brownish. I have gained close to 15 pounds in the last three months, which is depressing, and I seem to be more moody than I used to be. I was hoping that the breakthrough bleeding would have decreased by now, but I have been keeping track on a calendar, and it has not. One good thing is that I do not have the weekly migraines that I had on my old birth control (Yaz)."

For Birth Control "Do not recommend: Mood swings - screaming at everyone in sight and then crying hysterically. Depression, weight gain, cystic acne on my face, chest, and back, severe headaches. Very light period was the only positive I can think of, but it is not worth the negatives..."

For Birth Control "I have not had a negative experience with this pill. Now, the reason this pill was prescribed to me was due to the low amount of estrogen it contained. I have horrible side effects when I take pills or birth control in general that has a lot of estrogen in it. If you are taking this for acne, it is not going to help you. It is not meant to help treat acne. My periods have been much lighter, and last month I didn't have a period. On the website, it also states it is not uncommon to miss a period with this birth control. I am not complaining that I don't have one. I have not seen weight gain or mood swings either. It is working perfectly for me. Probably the best birth control I have been on, honestly. No side effects."

For Birth Control "Amazing. Though I take this pill every day in the morning, and it’s so great. I haven’t gotten my period in eight months now (no, I am not pregnant), no more cramps, no more buying pads, it’s a relief! Also, I have not gotten any side effects such as headaches, weight gain, depression, etc. The low dose of estrogen doesn’t mess with your body too much. Highly recommend."

For Birth Control "This pill changed my life! I suffered from such bad cramps before that I would be throwing up nonstop for hours. I now barely have to take Advil when I get my period, my periods only last 4 days, too. I do not break out, no mood swings also! I did gain a slight amount of weight, but nothing too big. Love it! Going on year 2 now of being on LoLo!"

For Birth Control "I originally took this pill to regulate my periods and obviously prevent pregnancy. Before taking any sort of birth control, I had PMS with moderate to heavy periods. Ever since this pill, my period is where the blue pills stop, and my period is so light, no cramps, no PMS. But I have realized I am gaining a little weight. My breasts definitely seem a little bigger, so used to a B cup, so when they get bigger-I know the difference. This pill has done a good job. I haven't had sex without a condom while being on this birth control. I see less acne, though."

For Birth Control "I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe in September and have been on it for 5 months now. Since I have started taking Lo Loestrin Fe, I have gained 18 pounds and cannot for the life of me seem to lose any weight (I work out 5 days a week and maintain a raw vegan diet). I have been the most emotional I have ever been, I cry all the time and get very anxious. I have absolutely no sex drive (when I went off birth control from January to August last year, it was much higher). I also get violently ill every time I drink alcohol (even just a glass of wine). I first thought this was because I might be allergic to alcohol, but when I went off birth control, I would never get ill, and my hangovers were non-existent. Everyone varies on it, but my experience has not been so pleasant."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about 3 years. I got on it because I've had horrible cramps and heavy bleeding on my period. I only have a period for 2 days, I get mild cramps now. The only side effect I had other than the period was that I had gained a few pounds. I would recommend this pill to anyone."

For Birth Control "Used this birth control for 4 months now, and it gave me really bad acne. My boobs became bigger and bigger (now happy about that), and the top of my hair started thinning. Gained a bunch of weight. This and the depo shot, I can honestly say, have ruined my life. I don’t feel pretty or confident."

For Birth Control "After being on the same birth control for 2 years, with very little positive feedback, I decided to switch it up. I tried Lo Loestrin Fe because I had received a free trial from my doctor. Oh man, was it ever the best thing for me. Previously, I had pretty severe acne, which nothing could help, but after 2 months, my skin is completely clear. The only downfall is that I have experienced some weight gain. Overall, I would recommend this form of birth control to anybody who is struggling with skin issues."

For Birth Control "Had almost every side effect! Gained weight, very moody, my face and back broke out badly (which I usually never have), very tender breasts, frequent headaches, tired. Was just NOT a good experience, after 3 1/2 months, I couldn't take it anymore. Scared to try a different one now since how bad of an experience this was."

For Birth Control "First month was great. Slightly more anxiety, but thought it would surpass. The pill got worse month by month. More anxiety, more depression. Weight gain, nausea/vomiting, extremely painful periods with crazy mood swings. Cannot wait for this pack to be over so I can switch."

For Birth Control "I was on Lo Loestrin for almost a year. Within the first 3 months, I gained 10-15 lbs and was still happy with my body but concerned. Recently, I went up to a 20 lb weight gain and decided to switch off due to the fact I did not know when the weight gain would plateau. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone that is concerned about gaining weight."

For Birth Control "I got on this medication for the contraception part, but to also help clear my acne (It was pretty severe). I've been on it for about 3 months and have had a lot of improvement. Acne is almost completely gone, and I am just left with the dark marks that will hopefully go away with time. I still have a few pimples here and there, mainly on my cheeks, but that is something I can deal with compared to where I was before. As for the other side effects, mine were nowhere near as extreme as some people's in these comments. Some weight gain (mainly in my boobs) and almost nonexistent periods (which I don't mind). I did get a few cystic acne bumps on my cheek, but only a couple, and they went away within a few weeks. Birth control works differently for everyone though!"

For Birth Control "Loved this birth control. Didn't have mood swings or gain weight. Also didn't have a period except for an exceptionally light one every 4 months or so, which was great in my opinion. The only reason I had to stop was because my stupid work switched insurance companies and the new one didn't cover this."

For Birth Control "WORST BIRTH CONTROL. I was on it for a little over a year and just got off of it (thank goodness!) First 3 months of taking the pill, I gained 18 pounds... And my diet and exercise did not change whatsoever. I developed these extremely painful vaginal infections while on this pill, and my sex drive dropped significantly. Never suffered with acne, not even during my awkward teen years, but as soon as I started taking this medication, I broke out EVERYWHERE... Face and body. But worst of all, this pill made me absolutely PSYCHOTIC. I'm generally a really happy person, but all of a sudden, I became EXTREMELY testy, angry, and teary all the time. Even had quite a few gnarly panic attacks. I would never recommend this to anyone..."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lo Loestrin for 8 years! Absolutely the best birth control I've been on! Was skeptical at first to the idea of no period, but loved that fact after several months. For Birth Control "I've been on this BC for less than a month. I love it. I'm 5'6", 110 lbs, and 23 years old. I work out 6 days a week and have a normal diet, nothing radical. Noticed no weight gain with this pill, no mood swings, no headaches. This has improved my skin and is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Just be sure to set an alarm and take it at the same time each day (I take mine at 10 pm) before I go to bed. If you're hesitating, don't. Give this a shot and stick with it, you'll be happy you did. For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for three months. I gained over ten pounds and went from a C cup to a DD. This pill was absolutely terrible for me. I lowered my sex drive, and my emotions were so all over the place that I considered seeing a therapist. Seems like a lot of side effects for such a low dose of hormones. Not worth it at all."

For Birth Control "I started this BC Lo Lo in September and have since gained 27 pounds despite a healthy diet and exercise. I have little to no energy, experience several depression days a month, and just don’t feel like myself at all anymore. For Birth Control "I just finished my first pack, and I love it so far. Normally, I can tell the exact moment when I get my period because it is so painful. It's gotten so bad that I've been close to vomiting from the pain before. I have experienced no spotting, no reduced sex drive, or weight gain so far, and the pain is gone. I love it!!"

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I've just finished my fourth month, and I no longer have periods. After month one, around the time of the two brown inactive pills, I only had very light spotting, but only one small panty liner for one day was enough. Ever since I've taken this, I haven't had any cramps or backaches, I now have wonderfully clear skin, and my boobs actually became a cup size smaller. I haven't noticed any weight gain, and overall there haven't been any negative side effects for me. I love this prescription-it's perfect for everything I need it for."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lo Loestrin for a little over a month now. I've experienced slight weight gain (no more than 5 lbs, all of which seemed to end up around my midsection, of course!). No increase in breast size, which I was greatly hoping for. I was previously on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a month, and that was bad. The lower dose of hormones in this pill seems to really be working for me. However, I didn't even get so much as a slight period last week when I was supposed to have one. I'm one of those women who want a period EVERY month, just to be sure, so I'm a bit unhappy with the lack of a period on this birth control. I occasionally experience nausea, fatigue, and irritability, but nothing that interferes terribly with my life."
