For Birth Control "So the first time I was on the pill, I was put on Beyaz. Beyaz made me gain about 15 lbs. It made me crazy with mood swings. I got off of it within 6 months. After that, I would go back and forth on whether to get back on birth control. So about a month and a half ago, I decided to go to the doctor for a check-up. I told my doctor about my experience with Beyaz. He told me that he had the perfect birth control for me, Lo Loestrin Fe. I was scared to take it, but it was worth a shot. If anything, this birth control has made my weight stick. I have had NO mood swings. No weight gain. The only symptoms I've had were going from a C cup to a D cup and breast tenderness near my period, which is overall normal for me. This is the best birth control by far."

For Birth Control "Excellent! Do not be afraid of the reviews. Everyone is different. I'm 47, tried others, but this is by far the best! No weight gain, less mood swings, overall fantastic. Biggest challenge is taking the pill at the same time every day."

For Birth Control "I recently started my second pack, and I couldn't be happier! I had taken two different kinds of birth control in the past, and they made my vagina very dry and had no desire for sex. With this medication, I'm wet and in the mood for sex. I haven't had any side effects except for mood swings for the first three days. I would strongly recommend Lo Loestrin Fe."

For Birth Control "Would not recommend! This is my first birth control, and I’ve been on it for 3 months. I take the pill every day without skipping any days, and I have non-stop breakthrough bleeding. I started this pill to prevent pregnancy, but honestly, what’s the point if I can’t even have sex because I’m constantly bleeding? I’m also having terrible mood swings. I cry almost every day and have been feeling very depressed."

For Birth Control "I will say that the shorter and lighter periods were great; and with my insurance, it was $45 for a 3-month supply. However, since I started taking it two months ago, I've gained almost 10 lbs, have been nauseous, dizzy, feverish, cranky, and have had breast tenderness and insomnia. Two months of feeling pregnant and sick, and I called my doctor to put me on something else. Glad it worked for others... wish it had worked for me too."

For Birth Control "I read a few of the reviews on this page, and many said that in the first month or so, they had terrible acne! This is also true for me, but this is the only birth control I've been on where my skin is 100% clear after about month three! I also always suffered from severe mood swings with other birth control-crying over nothing, bouts of rage, extreme insecurity-but this is so much better. The only downside is that, for some reason, I am very tired, especially in the morning-it's almost impossible to wake up, even with 8 hrs. But the changes in my mood outweigh the tiredness! Great for people who have a lot of bad side effects with other birth controls!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 2 years. Prior to this pill, I had the Implanon in my arm that worked well, but I was unsatisfied with occasional irregular bleeding. Most doctors, like mine, will tell you that there is nothing 'unhealthy' about not having periods (Google it), and that's what I wanted without getting my tubes tied. I skipped the inactive pills and have been doing so since beginning to take it. Two years later, I couldn't be happier. I experienced no weight gain, no breakouts, no mood swings, no cramps, but I never had bad cramps anyway. The only way I can even tell I'm taking it is because I haven't had a period, which has been awesome. Don't let negative reviews scare you away. It depends on the person!!"

For Birth Control "I actually really enjoy this birth control. It's been the first and only birth control that I've tried, and I can't complain. I didn't gain weight, my acne didn't get worse or better, my sex drive is fine, and really, I didn't have any of the awful symptoms that typically accompany birth controls. The only thing that did happen to me was when I first began using Lo Loestrin, I had a different mood each week for the first month. One week I'd be sad, the next mad, the next happy, so on and so forth until my body got accustomed to what was happening. Now it's like I'm not even on anything!"

For Birth Control "I have been on six different birth controls, from the shot to different pills, and have always had bad side effects. I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for a month now, and I love it! My hormones are balanced out, no mood swings, no depression, no weight gain, nothing. I think I'm actually losing weight, and I feel great. The only downfall is I have been spotting a little bit, and my breasts are tender, my mood is a little off the week before my period. Other than that, no complaints! If you have had trouble with birth control like me, I advise you to try this. I have gotten severe depression, weight gain, and everything else from other birth controls. If you get a green card from Planned Parenthood, this pill is free!"

For Birth Control "After reading many of the reviews on the BC, I've concluded the three things common in most people are mood swings, depression, and loss of sex drive. I'm 29, I've been on this pill for four months, and all of these are true for me. No interest in sex at all, my boyfriend gets on my nerves all the time, and I cry pretty much every other day for no reason. What differs from me in most reviews, I have not had a period at all since I started taking it (DR says it's fine, but I'm not sure how I feel), I didn't get acne (didn't really have a problem to begin with), and I gained weight so my pants barely fit (mostly in the stomach area. May be bloating?). I feel my depression and moodiness are getting worse, so I think it's time for a change."

For Birth Control "I've just hit the 1-year mark on taking this, and I have to say it's been a positive experience. Before taking this, I hadn't had a period for over 10 months. During my first month, on the exact day it was supposed to start, I finally got my period. Since then, my periods have only gotten lighter and lighter. Now I spot for 1, maybe 2 days a month on the white/brown colored pills. The only other times I spot are if I'm careless about taking it at the same time every day. I have noticed a decrease in migraines (I didn't get them that often, but still), a slight increase in breast size, no weight change, and not really any change in acne. The only downside is that I'm a little more emotional about silly things I wouldn't normally be."

For Birth Control "I have been on the pill for about a year and three months. It works excellently as a birth control. My breasts only grew like half a size. It also gives me extremely light, short periods, which is pretty awesome. My reason for originally getting it in was to regulate my periods since I was spotting for weeks straight before. It has not only regulated my periods but has regulated my whole monthly schedule. My cravings are intense, with insatiable hunger at certain times of the month. The only thing I really hate about this pill is the mood swings. I have the most violent and depressing mood swings for no reason whatsoever at random times of the day. It feels like intense anger. This in itself makes me want to get off the pill."

For Birth Control "I have a history of anxiety and depression and have been actively working toward losing weight, so I was fairly nervous about starting Lo Loestrin Fe. I had read many reviews here and saw that others experienced many difficult side effects. My first night, I experienced a severe mood swing. As soon as I realized that I had no idea how I had gotten so upset, though, it became easier to shake off. I'm one month in and have experienced some light breakthrough bleeding and sometimes have a hard time shaking off sad thoughts. But overall, I've been very pleased. No daily side effects, and I've continued to lose weight."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this for 6 months. First, just let me say that ever since I started my VERY first pill, I have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Since the first pill until now, we have never worn a condom. I didn't even have my period until the 5th pack. My face cleared up, and I actually lost weight!! BUT I was always very tired and emotional. I've started having breakthrough bleeding and horrible acne. My insurance won't cover this, so I have to pay $60.00 a month. That's not bad, but I heard that you can get other ones for free. Because of the breakthrough bleeding, I am now switching to Sprintec 28. Everybody is different, give it a try!!"

For Birth Control "My first three months on this pill were like a DREAM. I switched to it from Orsythia (which I had been taking for 3 years) because I was having painful periods and my sex drive was gone. This pill completely stopped my period with NO spotting or anything, and never any cramps. No acne, no mood changes. My breasts even grew. I was so happy. Now I am on month 4, and it is hell. I'm having migraines and nausea all day, and bad mood swings. I am stopping this pill and going back to my OB."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control ever. This is the second one that I have used. I switched birth control as I had bad mood swings on my first one. And I just felt I was lying to myself and others. So I switched. And it was awful. The first three months I knew my body had to get used to it, but I had very irregular periods. They would never come when I was on the last week of my pills. It would come in the first week of the next pack. Sometimes it wouldn’t come at all. I was on it for about five months until today. About three days ago, I broke out very badly. If I could put a picture up, I would. It is so painful and itchy. It’s all over my face. I can’t go to class because of how bad it is. My anxiety levels have been very high. I have been very depressed. And really haven’t felt like I have the energy to do anything. Please, if you are starting this pill, read these reviews. I wish I had when I first got them. It helps a lot."

For Birth Control "I have tried multiple birth control pills over the years and have never been able to find one that I could tolerate, either physically or emotionally. I am on my first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe, and surprisingly I haven't had any debilitating side effects. I am just entering my 3rd week of pills, and I am bloated and have started spotting. I'm not sure if this is breakthrough bleeding or if I'm going to have a full-blown period. Regardless, I am going to wait it out, as I'm thrilled not to have any nausea or intense mood swings. So far, so good!"

For Birth Control "Personally, I had an okay experience with Lo Loestrin. I was on it for a couple of months. During these few months, I had gained 15-20 pounds, got stretch marks around my thighs and breasts, and my boobs went from C’s to DD’s. I was very unhappy with this weight change because it was extremely drastic. I had my period only a couple of times, and when I did, it was so short and light that it was as though it was never even there, which was amazing. My mood swings were the same, no change. I have been off the pills for over a year now, still haven’t been able to lose this weight or lower my cup size. I may not have given my body the ability to regulate itself to the hormones, but I really didn’t want it to get any worse than it was. I’m currently trying new birth control pills, which unfortunately have a higher dose of estrogen, but weight gain isn’t a popular side effect."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control ever! I was taking this pill for a little over a year, and yeah, I gained about 10 lbs and had breakouts, but the real issues were that it made me extremely irritable, emotional, as well as depressed. My sex drive became nonexistent, and I was having severe dryness, plus yeast infections. So I guess, yes, it completely worked as an effective birth control because I just didn't want to have sex, plus what boyfriend would want to have sex with their emotionally crazy girlfriend who is dry or having a yeast infection? Honestly, I've been off of it for 6 months, but I remember even after the first week off, my body was normalizing, and I felt radiant! Stay away from this pill! You've been warned."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for over a year, and I love it! I used to be on the NuvaRing, and it was the absolute worst experience. I was constantly crying, arguing, and depressed without any reason. I also gained a lot of weight on the ring. I have not gained any weight on Lo Loestrin Fe, except for in my breasts. I also have not had any mood swings in comparison to the ones I had before on the ring. My periods (when I do get them, which is rare now) last for 2 days and are super light. A downfall is that since Lo Loestrin Fe is so new, it is still pricey without insurance coverage. But it is great, and after using it, I'm hesitant to switch to anything else."

For Birth Control "This is my 4th month on Lo Loestrin Fe. I have to say, the first 2-3 months I wasn't a huge fan. I spotted for the first week or two, I was breaking out a little more than normal (usually I get 1-2 pimples on my chin right before my period), but this made me break out about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks into my pack :( and would only 'clear' up for about a week before it started again. I had slight cramping, felt a little crazy, and periods lasting about 3-4 days seeming no different than normal. I almost lost hope! BUT!!! I stuck it out like most doctors recommend. Month 4 = no period, no mood swings, clear face all month until my sugar pills (slight breakout only), no weight gain (though I do work out every day). Give it a shot!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about a month, and I love it. No mood swings and same sex drive. The only noticeable difference is my breasts! They are so tender. They feel as if I have a 90-pound clip hanging on my nipples. I do get nauseous throughout the day, but it's bearable. My weight is the same. Sometimes I have an appetite, other times I don't. Overall, this is a great birth control."

For Birth Control "I am about to finish up my fifth pack of Lo Loestrin. Lately, I've been noticing weight gain, even though I have changed my diet and started working out 3-4 times a week. I have gained about 10 lbs in the last 4 months and continue to gain 1 lb per week. At first, I didn't think it could have anything to do with this pill, now I'm starting to wonder. My skin has been clearer, and I have not had a period or bleeding at all since I started this pill. But the weight gain is a big deal for me. My breasts have gotten bigger and are a lot more tender. Mood swings have been tremendous, didn't notice a change in sex drive. I think everyone is different, and every birth control you take is going to affect each woman differently."

For Birth Control "I have nothing bad to say! This is my first time taking any birth control, so maybe I'm a little biased. I was very hesitant to take any birth control due to the known side effects that come along with most oral contraceptives. However, after two separate ruptured ovarian cysts, my OBGYN said birth control is really the only way to prevent it in the future. I've been taking it a little over 6 months now - no weight gain, no acne, no mood changes, no loss of libido, and my periods are so light now, mostly spotting, no cramps, and a shorter duration! I definitely recommend this!"
