"I've been on this pill for 6 months, and every day I take the pill, about 4-6 hours after, I feel nauseated. Most of the time, I can push through it, but sometimes I can't. My depression got noticeably worse, and I developed anxiety while taking this pill. The only positive things are it has a $0 copay (at least for me), and I haven't gotten pregnant. 3/10. Do not recommend."

"I took this for a month before I immediately got off of it. I originally had been on Lo Loestrin Fe for over a year before my insurance stopped paying for it. Then switched to Microgestin for a few months, which was fine except I was getting occasionally cystic breakouts. Switched to this, and for the first month, I had never been more emotionally unstable. I had the worst mood swings and cried hysterically for no reason (and I don't cry very easily either). It got to the point where I had some rather-dark-thoughts. As soon as I switched back to Lo Loestrin Fe, the depression, mood swings, and frantic crying subsided. I had some 2 months left of the Aurovela Fe, but I would literally never give it to my worst enemy."

"I was prescribed Aurovela because I wanted to go on one to regulate my periods as they were long (normal a week or more) and heavy, and I felt like I was anxious, pissy, and impatient. I am sensitive to medication, so I have always been scared to take strong medications. Basically, I got on the first day of my period, and I felt fine the first week. I did start to notice I was cramping more than usual, and my body definitely felt more “full,” especially in the chest area. What started to get me worried was that my period went on for 14 days and was heavy every day. I got very constipated, and I ended up having to go to the doctor, who prescribed me a heavy-duty laxative and instructed that I should go to the ER if I don’t get better. I immediately stopped the birth control as I found some research papers that stated that hormonal changes due to birth control can inflame the colon. I’m only 2 weeks in, and I wanted to keep going, but having an inflamed colon is not fun at all."

"Doctor prescribed this medication for my cramps and flow. I took it only for one month. I know the pill reacts differently to everyone, but the symptoms for me were horrible depression and anxiety. I was cramping and spotting also, which wasn't normal. I hope it works for you all, but the doctor said that it was because the estrogen was high for me, so she recommended me something lower."

"This was my first BC medication, so take with my review what you will. I quickly learned to take the pill during nighttime, as it made me very nauseous and sick to my stomach. This was a side effect for me that did not go away. The first month I was having full-blown panic attacks even when I was asleep, and I never experienced panic attacks like that. I was also very moody, but I blame it on retrograde haha jk, but seriously though, I was fatigued and bitchy. It did, however, grow a little bit bust-wise."

"I switched to this birth control after I was on Etodalac. This one didn’t give me periods, only brown spotting for 4 months, then all of a sudden, it gave me the worst period of my life. All month round, I had breast soreness, terrible cramping, terrible anxiety, and what felt like depression because I would always cry. Do not go on this if you have very bad anxiety because it made mine so bad, it’s absolutely ridiculous."

"I've been on this pill a month. I've been nonstop bleeding for 2 weeks of that month. I was hoping it would stop after a few days, but it's heavier than my normal period was. I have PCOS and was hoping this would help. But the daily nausea, bleeding, and the fact that since I started this I've been so angry and irritable. Everything around me makes me annoyed and just angry. Horrible, constant cramping and leg pains. I do not recommend this pill to anyone. I was gonna try and do another month of it, but I really don't want to feel like this anymore."

"Not as bad as all the reviews say, but still not great. It completely got rid of my period and cramps, which I don't mind, as my periods were awful before. However, it did nothing for my hormonal acne, but also didn't make it worse. I also recently found out I have high blood pressure despite living a healthy, active lifestyle, and I'm convinced it's due to this birth control. I plan on switching off of it."

"I've been taking this pill for a year now, and I finally found the source of my anxiety. I feel so validated from these comments. I thought I was an anxious mess and couldn't sleep because I was getting married and getting adjusted to married life, but I'm even more anxious than ever, and as I can see from these comments, this is definitely the source. I have never taken medication for sleep or anxiety until I started taking this pill, and my doctor started me on a low-dose sleep/anxiety med when melatonin wasn't working. If you can, get another generic or just be prepared to be gloomy, anxious, and sleepy all the time and know it's not you, it's the birth control. I'll be starting Hailey FE 1/20 soon, and hopefully, it'll be better. Giving it a 3 because it worked in the sense that I'm not pregnant, but I can't believe how it wrecked me emotionally."

"I pride myself on taking care of my 4c natural hair. This pill has made my hair become weak, brittle, extremely dry, and damaged, and even worse, it’s falling out by the handful. I’m completely devastated. I have been using this pill for 3 months. Also experiencing extreme, swollen, and painful breasts. Last night, fluid was leaking from one breast! Extreme mood swings, depression, and anxiety. Almost unable to focus, which is completely outside my character. Came here to see if I was crazy, and I’m clearly not judging by all of these reviews. Today, I’m stopping cold turkey."

"I actually loved the birth control. It definitely made my boobs bigger and made my acne not bad at all. No weight gain or anything. Right when I started it I did have some mood swings, but after that I was completely normal. The only long-lasting side effect I had was a low sex drive."

"I've been taking this for 9 months now. I had severe pain with my periods along with hemorrhagic cysts that would burst about 4 times a year. I was so afraid to take birth control because of the horror stories, but after seeing a really good doctor who explained everything well and listened to me well (she is amazing), I finally gave this a try. This is the first birth control I've taken, and my periods have never been easier in my life. I don't even have cramps anymore! It has been a world of difference. Everything is a trade-off, of course. I've gained about 10 pounds, I get occasional headaches, 1 or 2 bad ones a month, and I feel a little out of it. But really, it is worth it for me. It beats having to deal with extreme pain every month, ER trips, and fear of something really bad happening with a cyst. Overall, the side effects have been minimal. People usually only give reviews if they have bad experiences, but I wanted to put this out there as my overall good experience with this medication."

"I was on Junel Fe 1/20 for just over a year, and I had decided to stop birth control and then decided to go back on. I had wanted to continue with Junel Fe, but my doctor gave me Aurovela 1/20 and told me it's the same generic and it is the same thing as Junel Fe. It is definitely NOT the same. It has been only 4 days, and I had to stop it. I am writing this after sleeping only 2 hours a night since I started this pack because my headaches are so unbearable that I had to take Tylenol every few hours to not be in pain, and I am so nauseous literally all the time that it doesn't even feel real. I never had any of this with Junel Fe. I immediately asked my doctor to switch me back, and I just hope these side effects go away. I don't ever want to feel like this again. Please do not switch to this!!!"

"This is my first time using birth control. When talking to my doctor, I requested something with a low dosage so that I still may receive my menstrual cycle. The doctor suggested Microgestin, but the pharmacist gave me the generic brand, which is this pill. I have had the worst experience when it came to mood swings and weight gain. I do not like this birth control. My mood swings are horrible, I have had the worst attitude you can think of. It makes me very aggravated, irritability out of control, always getting into an argument. When you get to a certain section of pills, it makes you eat, eat, eat, and eat like you can never get full. The hunger feels ridiculous. After I had my baby, I lost my weight going back to normal size, but starting those pills added my weight back. THIS IS NOT THE PILL FOR ME. I will try one more pill before I give up on birth control, everything is meant to be natural."

"I have been on Aurovela for over a year, I really like it. I started with Blisovi and Junel, but like others have said, my pharmacy substituted it with Aurovela. I honestly see no difference at all. I’ve been on the birth control pill for 6 years, and I never experienced any severe side effects like others have talked about. I do get some hormonal acne, but I’d rather have that than a kid. I did not gain weight or experience increased depression or anxiety (which I am diagnosed with prior to birth control use). I would highly recommend this, as some high-dose pills my friend was on caused hair loss. This medicine is fine, if it affects you badly, just switch!"

"I started this birth control in June 2020. It is now November 2020. I had severe depression in the second and third months of taking it. I felt extremely depressed. I was experiencing suicidal thoughts and a complete emptiness that I've never felt. My sex drive is very low. Although it did clear up my acne, and I do struggle with acne. However, the sadness has subsided, but I am currently experiencing some of the worst anxiety of my life. The anxiety is 24/7, and I sometimes cannot sleep. It is debilitating anxiety, where my heart feels like it's beating so fast that I am about to pass out. This is not a good birth control. Please read reviews before considering."

"Horrible B/C pill!!! I don't have to worry about getting pregnant. Since taking this pill, I have been on my cycle off and on for weeks! Walgreens carries this brand only, so I switched pharmacies quick and stopped taking this and went back to Junel."

"I was wary of taking Aurovela Fe 1/20 at first as I normally take Junel 1/2 FE until my pharmacy had to give me this one due to shortage. During the first month, I hadn't had any problems with bloating, weight gain, or sudden mood swings, but at nearly the third week, I did experience some bad chin acne till the end of my days."

"I switched from Junel Fe to Aurovela Fe 24. I was really scared reading the horrendous comments, but after talking to my doctor, she convinced me to give it a chance. The first day, the natural nausea. The second day, the small acne. After that, it was exactly like Junel. My skin is clearer than ever, my period went from heavy 7 days to 2 light days. My appetite has increased, but I am on a weight gain journey, so it is helping in that aspect. My mood hasn't been affected in any way, and I have had mental health issues in the past, including taking anti-depressants at a time. I don't know how it would affect those going from high estrogen to low, but I would still recommend giving this medication a chance, especially if you have been on Junel or fall under that umbrella of lo loestrin, etc. Everybody's body is different, and the one positive comment I had seen before going on it mentioned that those who have bad experiences are more likely to post about it, so here is your positive comment!"

"So far, I’ve only experienced bloating and breast soreness and fullness. I already have fibroadenomas in my breast, so it makes them really sore and tender. Emotions are a little higher than usual, but I still recommend."

"I have been taking it for years and should have stopped years ago. I have moments where I have horrible anxiety and depression. I have gained so much weight. It’s also raised my cholesterol levels. The only good thing is my cramps aren’t as painful and don’t cost me anything. I need to find another option."

"I'm 31 years old, and after months of having bad periods and also discovered I had an ovarian cyst, I finally broke down and decided to get on birth control. My OBGYN decided to give me this because it's a low dose, which I'm glad about because that's what I wanted. The first couple of days, I was nauseated at night, and it awakened me (only for a little). I did have one period during my second active week of being on the pack the first month. So far, I haven't really had a period, just spotting. I can tell that my body is going through what I normally would be because I would be a grouchy lady. And I can smell the blood when I'm in the bathroom, but it's not heavy at all, just small splotches of old blood sometimes mixed with new. I have also cramped lately, which has greatly been reduced, but it's manageable. I guess I'm used to bleeding heavily, and instead, I'm not, so my brain is making me think something is wrong. The only problem I'm having is making sure I take it on time."

"If I can stop one person from taking this, it'll be great. One of the worst medications I have ever been on. My gyno has prescribed it due to being diagnosed with PCOS, etc. I have never in my life ever cried more and had complete mental breakdowns in my life. It made me super depressed, I had gained over 20 pounds easily. Etc. It extended my period for over 2 months straight. Please don’t take this."
