For Birth Control "I’ve used this pill for 3 years now. I’ve experienced depression, cramping, towards the end of the pack I get extreme nausea prior to my period. Not sure what that is, but you get used to it. This month I noticed my pack changed. I'm 4 days in, and on my 3rd day, my pill tastes disgusting! I thought maybe I had something on my hands, but it happened again tonight! The pill literally tastes like poison!!! I almost threw up. I had to brush my teeth and tongue immediately to get the taste out. Furthermore, I’ve been coughing since Monday and have a taste in my mouth. I think I now owe this to the pill. I am not sure what they did with the change, but the colors of the pills are now 21 white and 7 pink placebo. It used to be pink for 22. Also, the packet is smaller, that’s fine. Except something is different. I’m going to try to take one from a different pack tomorrow and see if it’s my pack or not, but I’m thinking something is up."

For Birth Control "My experience has been horrible... I feel like throwing up all the time. The worst part is just the feeling of it. Also, my boobs are sore, and my body aches. I feel super bloated, and I actually look bloated. I guess this pill reacts in different ways for different people; however, for me, it has been a horrible experience. Some of the symptoms I have experienced are: calf cramps, headache, continuous nausea, body ache as if I were getting the flu, headaches...."

For Birth Control "This is the worst experience I have ever had with a birth control. My acne is worse, and my mood is awful. I've felt depressed for the whole time I've been on it, where I just want to cry for no reason or if something does not go right. I have had calf cramps as well. My normal birth control is Lutera, and I have no complaints about it."

For Birth Control "I haven't experienced any of the negative side effects (admittedly, it hasn't been very long, but supposedly the first three months are the worst). I have noticed less intense period cramps and decreased flow, which is nice. I guess I'm one of the lucky people that doesn't get the negative effects, or at least they aren't any more noticeable than regular stress. I am getting it through my college health center, so it's cheaper as well."

For Birth Control "This birth control was completely effective for me when I was sexually active. However, when I was not sexually active for my last two months of taking this pill, my periods were more painful and barely bled at all. But while I was sexually active, I barely had any acne, didn't gain any weight, and had no problems with my sex drive. I took this birth control for almost 2 years."

For Birth Control "I left a review a month after I was on this pill and gave it a 10/10. Now after three months, my opinion and experience have changed entirely. 1. I have never had a yeast infection, and I am 99% sure I had one, and it is finally gone after a couple of weeks. 2. My periods are painful and heavy. 3. I am currently experiencing heavy bleeding while having a week left of my pills (i.e., I'm not supposed to be on my period until next week). I am very concerned and am calling my gyno tomorrow to switch pills immediately. I loved the pill I was on a year ago (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo), so I think I'm going to look into it again."

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia for a year and a half, and I've had a regular cycle twice! I get it early, and it lasts 7-12 days, and it's just brown, not a true 'period.' Recently, I've started to get the bad acne everyone mentions. I'm 43 and have pimples on my chin and forehead (never had it before). It has eliminated my breast tenderness and cramping, though - that's why I stayed on it. But it's just too unpredictable, and so I changed to another birth control. I do not recommend it."

For Birth Control "Just finished my first month on this pill and have no serious complaints so far! I have had horror stories of past birth controls (having continuous bleeding for a month straight, debilitating cramps, 7 pounds of water weight/bloating within a month's time), but so far, so good with Orsythia! I have always been a highly anxious person, and while I do notice occasional mood swings (presumably because my body is still adjusting), I feel as though I have been much happier and less stressed. I have been eating very healthily and exercising (thankful for no insane cravings), but I haven't noticed any weight loss yet. I attribute this to a few pounds of water weight, but I expect that it will dissipate as my body fully adjusts to the pill. Overall, I feel as though this pill has had little to no impact on my day-to-day life! Minimal cramps, no headaches, no spotting, same sex drive. Seems like a dream so far! Keep in mind everyone's bodies are different."

For Birth Control "I have the same problems as many of the other reviewers. My medication was changed from Avaine to Lutera to Orsythia. I had no problems with Avaine or Lutera, but I've been on Orsythia for about a week, and I'm experiencing horrible side effects. I've had headaches, moodiness, and cramps. It feels exactly like I'm PMSing, and according to other reviewers, I just might be. I'm glad I came here so I can be prepared for a possible mid-cycle period."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for 3 days, and I can already tell what the side effects are. I have horrible nausea and have been vomiting. My legs and feet are swollen, I have started getting acne on my jawline, and I have been having the worst cramps ever. Gonna stick with it for a week until my doctor gets back to prescribe new medication."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for close to seven or eight months. It was great at first, absolutely no side effects, until the last three months on it. I was bleeding for four weeks at a time with one week of no bleeding in between. This was my only issue with this birth control. I have been on three other birth controls before this one (stopped because they were discontinued) and have never had any problems with any of them, which just shows that I am not prone to mood swings or breakouts, cramps, etc., so this pill worked for me personally but may not work for just anyone."

For Birth Control "I have been on it for about 6 months, and it is great except for the fact that it makes me extremely emotional the day before my period, and I have cramps on my period, both of which I never had before using the pill."

For Birth Control "My experience so far is not that good, but not that bad either. However, I would like to try a different brand besides this one. I've been using this brand for about 2 years. When I first started this birth control, I had very bad headaches for the first 3 or 4 months. My appetite at that time also increased. My acne was getting worse as well, but it's a good thing it has cleared up. I've been feeling so bloated and depressed lately that I felt like crying for no reason at all. I have had some chest pain as well, which I think is known as heartburn. It doesn't happen often, though. Now the pros of this brand are that I haven't had bad cramps like I used to. My periods have been regulated and light. It's not horrible, but it's not great either."

For Birth Control "This is by far the worst birth control I have ever experienced. I have been on the pill for 5 years, and this was given to me as a filler between my annual exam (I normally have a different brand). I had no idea that brands can differ so much, and I thought nothing of it. Right away on this pill, I became sick to my stomach and thought I had the flu. I had horrible gas and heartburn. My breasts hurt horribly. I got horrible acne all over my chin! Then, by the third week, I started to feel mild cramping in my calf and sharp pains all over my body. This pill has inspired me to go off the pill in general. Horrible experience."

For Birth Control "Age 29, Japanese. I've been on this BC for about 1.5 weeks, and this is my first time using BC in my entire life. I was very worried about using Orsythia, which is not approved in Japan. I couldn't even find any info in Japanese, so I wasn't sure if it fits Japanese bodies. Right after I started to take the pill, I had the same symptoms as I do during my period, such as cramping. On the 9th day, I started to bleed, but like a spot (still need a pad). I checked the Japanese site and found out that it was a normal side effect people have when they start to use BC. So maybe even using different brands, I would have the same thing. The site said that the symptoms wouldn't last longer than 3 months. I'm still bleeding on the 11th day, but I gotta see."

For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I have tried, so I have nothing to compare it to. For the first two months, I can say it was not bad. My mood was okay, it was not that big of a difference. My third and fourth months were pretty bad. I had really bad mood swings and awful cramps that were so bad I had to take off work. I would then have bad breakthrough bleeding a week before my period, so I would be bleeding for two weeks straight. After my fourth month was over, I switched."

For Birth Control "I had no problems when on Aviane or Lutera, but since my insurance switched me to Orsythia, my periods have gotten a bit longer, and my cramps have gotten worse. With Aviane and Lutera, I barely had any, but now they're back to like before I was on the pill. Plus, my breasts have been achy when they didn't use to be, and I've had more headaches. One month, I was even worried I was pregnant because I was so tired, bloated, and had so many headaches. I'm hoping I can get my doctor to write me a prescription for something else if my insurance doesn't cover Aviane or Lutera when I get my refill next month. Not terrible, but not as good as Aviane or Lutera."
