For Birth Control "I had previously been on Orsythia until my pharmacy started to fill it with Larissia, which made my breasts severely sore and sensitive. From Larissia, I moved on to Lutera, which caused me to gain 7 lbs in 1.5 months. I did not notice an increase in appetite, just an increase in weight gain. My scalp turned extremely dry and flaky to the point that I purchased several medicated and moisturizing shampoos to try and correct the issue. I experienced extreme bloating almost daily. The first day of my period was extremely painful, it felt like terrible stomach inflammation."

For Birth Control "I'm reasonably satisfied with Lutera. My chief concern with oral birth control has been emotional side effects (feeling so crazy), and I really cannot tell any difference at all in my mental health or emotional state when taking Lutera. It's not a perfect fit still, as I cramp way more on the last 2-3 days of 'white pills' than I ever have, though the cramps are mild. I've also noticed breast tenderness. But for me, the worst effect is that I have had about zero sex drive in the 4 months I've been taking Lutera. That's been a major drag."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for about 3 months now. It has been much better than any previous birth control pills I have taken. Some side effects that I have noticed are enlarged and tender breasts and a decrease in sex drive. I have also noticed that I am a lot more emotional than usual. I have not really gained any weight, which is one of the main reasons my doctor put me on this pill. The pills I have taken in the past made me gain massive amounts of weight, and then I would get super depressed, but not on Lutera. I have set an alarm on my phone to help me remember to take it every day at the same time, and it's no problem. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Lutera."

For Birth Control "This was the first pill I've ever taken. I had depression before starting and was scared to take a hormonal birth control, but I have to say it actually made my depression a lot better. But of course, I'm not a doctor, that's just what happened with me. I had 6-7 day periods with bad cramps before, and they became 3 day periods with absolutely no cramps. I did experience some breast tenderness my first week, which wasn't too bad. Cons: I would wake up starving every morning. I also started to get crazy mood swings and would snap at everything/everyone. I took Lutera for 3 and a half months, and I've stopped because of the mood swings. But other than that, I'd say it was a really good pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for about a month now. I like it. No weight gain, no severe acne, since I usually have a couple of pimples on my face, no changes. Loss of appetite. I, myself, am 5'1" and weigh about 145, no sudden weight gain. Although my breasts do get tender from time to time, being a 38DD it gets kind of annoying. Regardless, I recommend the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been taking them for two months now. They’ve caused pretty bad acne, breast soreness, cramps, depression, and anxiety. I feel sad all the time and really unmotivated. I’m taking them to regulate my period, and it does the job. I know I’m supposed to wait 3 months to get used to them, but I don’t know if it’s worth it, honestly."

For Birth Control "I just started taking it. I am on the last row of my first pack. I have been having a huge amount of brown or red discharge/blood. I have had headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, back acne, everything. I think it's because I'm taking a lower dose of it like levonorgestrel 0.1 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.02 mg, so next time at the doctor's, I will get a high dose."

For Birth Control "I've been taking birth control for about a year now, and my doctor just switched me to Lutera from Aviane. I've been on it for 2 months now, and though it's effective, I have to say it makes me a little nauseous at the start of a new pack, and I've gained like 10 lbs. Acne is a teeny bit worse, but I'm also using a new soap, so that may or may not be it. My breasts have gotten fuller, but when I PMS, they HURT. I guess these are normal for birth control in general, though."

For Birth Control "I'm 18, and this is my first time being on birth control, so when I read all the horrible reviews on Lutera, I was really worried. But it's been about a week now, and I can definitely say that I love it so far! Haven't had any side effects besides really bad nausea on the second day of the pill. But everything was fine after that. Haven't experienced any mood swings, decrease in sex drive. I've noticed that my appetite did increase just a little, and my breasts have been more tender than usual."

For Birth Control "Lutera has been pretty effective throughout my couple of months using it. I experienced nausea quite often during the first couple of packs. My breasts were tender and swollen in the beginning, but that doesn't happen anymore. I gained about 7 pounds. Sex drive is actually up the wall. I'm naturally a moody and emotional/sensitive little flower, and I believe since this is a hormonal pill, it adds on to the emotions. I'm frightened by the potential pop-up of depression issues or psychological issues I've been reading about birth control pills. I just don't want it to be too late before I possibly go crazy like some people have mentioned happened to them. Overall, the pill is cool. I used to have severe cramps and heavy bleeding, but Lutera helped."

For Birth Control "Before getting on BC, I was absolutely terrified because of the side effects and all the god-awful reviews. I've been on Lutera now for 2 months, which isn't a very long time, but I wanted to still give my review. My body might start to react differently in the later future, but if it stays at where it's at now, I'll be so, so happy. My period is much lighter, cramps are the same, I haven't bloated like a balloon, etc. I always experienced mood swings during my periods, and I think I'm just about the same with birth control, no more, no less (yoga helps a LOT with my insane moods). Sometimes I'll get a headache from the pill, but it lasts about half an hour. My boobs are pretty sore here and there after taking the pill. Nothing else!"

For Birth Control "Lutera is the worst birth control I have ever taken, and I have taken plenty. The place where I order my birth control from just switched me to this, and I noticed on day 3 that this pill was going to be a challenge. My boobs were (and still are) very tender, and they have gotten huge, like when your breast milk comes in huge. I am experiencing dryness but not a lack of sex drive, just dryer. In the second week on the pill, I became extremely tired and moody. This third week, things have gotten awful: migraines every day, completely exhausted. I stopped taking the pill today because I am tired of my mouth being dry, my head hurting, I have developed a fever and chills this week, and I don't want to do anything at all. This extreme exhaustion is the worst, and crazy dreams. As I was laying in bed today after sleeping for 15 hours and still exhausted, I thought I may be depressed, but I am not sure. This is not the type of person I am, I have never taken anything that sucked all the happiness out of me like this pill."

For Birth Control "I haven't been taking the pill for years, so I am no expert, but so far I have experienced a more controllable period, tender and growing breasts, even skin tone, and weird mood swings in the beginning. My period used to be extremely heavy and lasted exactly 7 days long each month, but after starting, it was unbelievably light (I was so surprised) and 5 days long. It starts 2 days after starting the pink pills in the package. My breasts have definitely grown and are a tad tender but don't bother me at all, along with my other womanly aspects being emphasized. My skin is manageable, it was before I started the pill also. My mood swings are a little uncontrollable though."

For Birth Control "This birth control is the best! I got it because of heavy periods, my period is now lighter and more manageable. The only side effect I had was sore breasts for the first 2 months, then they went away."

For Birth Control "After I took Lutera, within an hour I would feel a rush of fatigue and want to sleep. I would end up taking two, three-hour-long naps, which threw off my sleep cycle. My breasts hurt, and I was extremely aggressive during my month on this pill. Toward the end, I started spotting the 4th day of the third week, and I am on the 3rd day of my period week, and so far I have been spotting for 7 days. My acne got worse when this was supposed to help. I did not experience bleeding at first. Wouldn't recommend this pill. I am switching to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for almost 4 weeks, and I have experienced some side effects, such as weight gain. I noticed that my breasts are VERY tender, but they have gotten bigger. My hair does grow back faster also. I shave my arms, so after one day, I would feel stubble. Before I was on the pill, I would have at least 3 days before I would feel stubble. I took the pill to get my period regulated, but I haven't gotten my period this month. My doctor said sometimes you won't get your period for at least six months if you are on the pill. I have also had some mood swings, but not severe."

For Birth Control "I was on Lutera for 7 months. The first month was okay. I had really sore and enlarged breasts, but I thought it was normal since my body was adjusting to the birth control. In the 4th month, I had anxiety, and I kept brushing it off because I thought it came from work stress. By the 5th and 6th months, I had anxiety almost every single day! I went to the doc, and they gave me anxiety meds and antidepressants. I didn't take the antidepressants because when I took one pill, it made me so sick! I kept on struggling with anxiety and depression. It's hard to go to work, hang out with family, and my boyfriend when you have depression. I got off Lutera last Friday, and I still feel depressed and anxious. Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, I start feeling normal again."

"I started using Lutera a month ago, and haven't had any adverse side effects. The only thing that has happened is that my breasts have gone up an entire cup size, and they are often very tender. Other than that though, this medication has not caused any weight gain (as I feared), moodiness, or any other unpleasant side effect."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for about a year now. So far, it helps me a lot. It makes my period lighter, and the cramps aren't that bad. The only thing that sucks is how tender your breasts get. But besides that, it is a really good birth control."

For Birth Control "I just started Lutera a month ago, but so far I am very happy with it. I put off going on birth control for years because I'm a sensitive person and thought that I'd surely be the type of person to react negatively to the hormones. However, since starting, I feel great! I feel even-keeled and happy, and did not experience the usual intense mood swings and food cravings of my cycle. My period is light, and I hardly experienced any cramping (in the past, I've had to miss work because I've been in so much pain). My boobs are a little tender, and I do notice brown discharge/some spotting, but I haven't experienced any truly negative side effects. I'm really happy with Lutera and wish I had made the decision to go on it years ago!"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I took Lutera for a year, it was my second try on the pill since my first attempt with Loestrin Fe was horrid. I got acne spots every once in a while, but nothing big. My breasts were insanely tender almost constantly. My sex drive was destroyed by the end of my one year of trying this pill, and I would get so moody. My poor boyfriend had to go through a lot with me taking this pill, and I gained 50 lbs. I never did notice a difference in my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome-related symptoms, which was a bummer. It could work for someone else, I'm sure, though, since birth control affects everyone differently. I'm on Nexplanon now, which has given me absolute clear skin, my sex drive is back, and my moodiness is normal again. No more crying at the drop of a hat."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for around 2-3 months now, and I absolutely hate it. I switched to this BC because my other one had too much iron in it. First of all, my acne is horrible now. It has never been this bad. And my boobs are way bigger and always sore, and I also feel like I’ve gained a lot of weight and am always bloated. I also feel like I am constantly in this “sad” state now, which I am not a fan of. The only good thing I’ve found from this birth control is my periods are a lot shorter and lighter now. Other than that, nothing good to say. I do not recommend!!!!!"

For Birth Control "I have been using Lutera for 5 months now, and it's horrible. It's the first time a birth control affects me like that. I totally lost my libido, like I'd rather watch the rain fall than have sex. I am the crankiest thing, and I'm 1000 times more sensitive than I used to be. And I feel depressed about half the time, and I always was a happy person. I am going to my doctor today, and there's no way I stay on that pill. I'd rather go back to using condoms, even if I'm not a fan. Oh, and my breasts hurt like they're gonna explode at any moment. Just the feeling of my bra touching them hurts. Don't take it."
