For Birth Control "I'm 18, and this is my first time being on birth control, so when I read all the horrible reviews on Lutera, I was really worried. But it's been about a week now, and I can definitely say that I love it so far! Haven't had any side effects besides really bad nausea on the second day of the pill. But everything was fine after that. Haven't experienced any mood swings, decrease in sex drive. I've noticed that my appetite did increase just a little, and my breasts have been more tender than usual."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera 28 for a year now. I've noticed how if I'm late taking my pill each day, even by two hours, I'll spot or even start my period early. MAJOR mood swings and depression. Some days I think I'm losing my mind. It's effective in preventing pregnancy, however, I've completely LOST my libido. If you're considering taking this pill, I would look into other BC options besides this one."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I was on Lutera for 14 years. It completely eliminated my severe period cramps and heavy bleeding to the point where I barely had a period anymore. Only ever gained a couple pounds from it, and it kept my skin fairly clear and PMS under control. Only bad thing is that it did really kill my libido, but that was not as big of a concern as my other issues. I had a hysterectomy last June due to massive fibroids (kept my ovaries) and went off of Lutera to see how I would do without it, and I can't stand it. Going to go back on it if I can find a pharmacy that still stocks it, but so far I can't find one!"

For Birth Control "I do not recommend. I've tried plenty of other pills in the past (Lessina, Norinyl, Syeda to name a few), and this is my least favorite. I stopped taking birth control for a couple of years but recently decided to get back on, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. Within weeks, it made me more irritable/sensitive (I would cry for no reason), and my sex drive became nonexistent. I had instances where I would be interested in having sex but couldn't enjoy it due to painful cramps. I also felt extremely nauseous, had horrible indigestion, my acne came back, and felt bloated the entire time I was on this pill. And, I had breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks straight. Thankful I was able to switch back to a generic of Yaz, it's quite an improvement."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for almost two weeks now. I have had almost constant diarrhea, a couple of mood swings, my period lasted nine days (rather than my usual four), nausea, hot flashes at night (age 21). I have had a hard time staying asleep, and not too much of a sex drive left. At first, I would wake up and not be hungry until lunchtime, now I want to eat constantly (but I control my urges, or I munch on veggies). On the plus side, I haven't gained any weight and my skin has cleared up a little. Though I am having not-so-pleasant side effects, I don't have any complaints about the pill (it has only been two weeks though). Reading other reviews, a lot of people say the negative goes away within three months. So, I'll cross my fingers."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera and another equivalent off-brand for nearly three years. Before, I had terrible cramps around the first day of my menstrual cycle, and now I have very mild cramps. I'm usually fine with a painkiller and can go about my day, much different than my experience before with having to leave school just because it was so dreadful. The only side effect I have noticed was a decreased sex drive (not by much). I tried NuvaRing this summer and wasn't a fan, so I went back to Lutera. I would overall rate this a great birth control. But most importantly, I find it important to set an alarm on my phone to remind myself! It hasn't let me down, whether it be bad side effects or an unwanted pregnancy, for the past few years!"

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control pill I ever took. I was on it for 3 years, and overall it was a very good experience. It helped clear up my acne, although during stressful times, I still would get some small breakouts. My periods were much lighter, I didn't gain any weight. In fact, I lost 20 lb, which was nice. I never got pregnant. My only complaint is that it did kill my sex drive, which was annoying. I'm about to start Trinessa to see if this remedies the problem, but if Trinessa ends up being problematic, I will definitely switch back to Lutera."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for almost a month since July 2nd, and I scheduled an appointment with my OBGYN today due to this contraceptive causing lots of bleeding. I started on the first day I bled from my last period, and it's July 28th, and I am currently still on my period. My doctor prescribed me Lo Loestrin now, and I hope it helps me out. But with Lutera, it was a horrible experience. Lots of headaches, low sex drive, MANY mood swings/depression. I got into many, many arguments with my boyfriend this month, and I had my relationship in danger!"

For Birth Control "Well, I’m currently on my second pack of Lutera. The second week on the pill, I was incredibly moody, however, that stopped. As soon as I stopped taking it, I got my period the next day. So it has definitely helped with regulating them. Periods are lighter, and cramps are slightly better. The only complaint I have is a slight decrease in libido and extreme dryness. I’m hoping that goes away, though."

For Birth Control "I took the pill for about 6 months. The first 3 months were the worst for me. I was cranky, my sex drive went down the drain, I was dry down there, and I became depressed. After I started to feel better, just bad cramps. The pill is effective, just the side effects are the worst."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera now for over two years, and I love it! My doctor started me on Yaz, which gave me cramps every day and made me extremely moody. After 3 months of Yaz, I switched to Lutera, and my crampiness and moodiness have been much improved ever since! I used to experience moderate to severe cramps the week before and during my period. I was also unable to exercise without taking Advil. On Lutera, my cramps are much milder, only last about 2 days, and I can exercise without taking medicine. Also, my period was highly irregular before Lutera. Now my period comes at the same time every month and lasts exactly five days. The only downside is that my sex drive is much lower on the pill. But I still recommend Lutera for first-time users."

For Birth Control "I can't wait to get off this drug again! About a year ago, I started having sore muscles, fatigue, muscle weakness, and migraine headaches 2-5 times a month. I don't have insurance (I had been buying Lutera and other BC's online), so I paid over $500 to see a doctor and get labs done; I was healthy as a mutt. They put me on an $80/month medication for fibromyalgia pain, and for 3 months, things seemed better. I had a theory that the Lutera was causing the menstrual migraine and the resuming the pills migraine, so I quit taking them for 3 months, and I was right! I weaned myself off the fibro meds (had sexual side effects) and felt great. Two weeks ago, I resumed Lutera because we had a pregnancy scare, and voilà: a migraine right off the bat, and 4 days ago, my muscles started burning; the extreme fatigue, etc., came back. Been on over 6 different types of BC since '04 and never had this issue, and it never helped my acne. Only bonus is we don't have a pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera (generic for Aviane) for about a year now. Since my last birth control caused extreme moodiness and a decrease in sex drive, Lutera was a lot better with those side effects. My moods were a lot better, I was not depressed and angry all the time like the last birth control. My sex drive was 'ok', it wasn't completely decreased, but it could have been better considering I am 19. Lutera also caused an increased appetite and caused acne on my face when I never had gotten serious acne before. Overall, the birth control pill was ok, still in search of the right one for me."

For Ovarian Cysts "I've been on many pills and have had bad experiences with all of them. Mood swings, depression, exhaustion, loss of sex drive, breakouts, etc. Lutera seems like one of the best of the worst, I guess. It made my boobs plumper, which rocks, but I've lost my sex drive pretty much entirely, so what is the point of that? I'm taking it to control ovarian cysts and endometriosis, but I'm going to stop, maybe try another, because I find that I get mad or resentful at my boyfriend when there's nothing out of the ordinary going on, and I don't really care if I see my friends or not. Stuff I used to feel passionate about is like... whatever. I miss me. At least Lutera didn't make me feel like offing myself like Ortho did, but it's still not great."

For Birth Control "The worst! I've been on Lutera for over two years. While taking this birth control, I experience headaches, mood swings, depression, weight gain, a drop in sex drive, and extremely long periods. My period will last 8-9 days with occasional spotting between periods and other months 3-4 weeks (maybe 3 times since I started 2 years ago). I was told this would make my period lighter... Yeah, not as heavy but longer :( After the 1st year, I spoke with my OB to make sure I didn't have any issues like fibroids, etc. And everything was normal, so I decided to keep trying Lutera in the hopes my body would adjust. Boy, was I wrong. The only pro is I'm not pregnant :) I'm definitely switching birth control #2years2long."

For Birth Control "This oral contraceptive completely erased my libido and gave me very painful acne. No other side effects, but the ones I did have were pretty noticeable."

For Birth Control "The only side effects I experienced were thinning hair and a real drop in my sex drive. It's cheaper than the other one I was on, but I liked Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo much better."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for about 3 months now. It has been much better than any previous birth control pills I have taken. Some side effects that I have noticed are enlarged and tender breasts and a decrease in sex drive. I have also noticed that I am a lot more emotional than usual. I have not really gained any weight, which is one of the main reasons my doctor put me on this pill. The pills I have taken in the past made me gain massive amounts of weight, and then I would get super depressed, but not on Lutera. I have set an alarm on my phone to help me remember to take it every day at the same time, and it's no problem. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Lutera."
