For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I love this birth control!! I have been on it for almost 2 years, it is great for me! My periods are lighter, less cramps. In August, my pharmacy swapped me to Avaine, and I saw a terrible change. My bleeding became so irregular, I had brown mucus until I started the next pack. I would start super late in the inactives or early in the actives. I would cramp all month. I hated Avaine. I swapped pharmacies and am now back on Lutera, and I cannot wait for everything to go back to normal."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for almost two full months now. I would not recommend this pill to my worst enemy. I have been bleeding since day one. It started out with new blood, and now for the last month, it's been dried up brown old blood. This is not what I signed up for. It's doing the exact opposite of what it's supposed to be doing-lightening your period and cramps. My OBGYN says to stick it out for three months, but screw him. He's not bleeding for an entire month, so why should I suffer? Wouldn't recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I went off birth control for 1 year, and when I went to get on it again, I was prescribed Alesse. Lutera, the generic, was given to me by the pharmacy. I have never had such adverse reactions to taking a pill in my life, and I've been on birth control pills for 12 years. I only managed to be on it for a week. My period NEVER stopped. It wasn't spotting. Full-blown uterine cramping and bleeding. It gave me a yeast infection after 5 days of being on it. I had mood swings like crazy. Usually, I'll stick it out until my body adjusts (a month or 2), but I had to quit taking this. Between the excessive bleeding, infection, anxiety, and depression, I just couldn't do it. I was hoping the lower doses of hormones would be better, but it's just not a good fit for me. I've only stopped taking it for 24 hours, and already, my bleeding has almost completely disappeared, and I haven't had anxiety or depression in the last 12 hours. I feel better in general. I'm looking for a better option."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend. I've tried plenty of other pills in the past (Lessina, Norinyl, Syeda to name a few), and this is my least favorite. I stopped taking birth control for a couple of years but recently decided to get back on, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. Within weeks, it made me more irritable/sensitive (I would cry for no reason), and my sex drive became nonexistent. I had instances where I would be interested in having sex but couldn't enjoy it due to painful cramps. I also felt extremely nauseous, had horrible indigestion, my acne came back, and felt bloated the entire time I was on this pill. And, I had breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks straight. Thankful I was able to switch back to a generic of Yaz, it's quite an improvement."

For Birth Control "PROS - perfect acne-free skin. CONS - breakthrough bleeding every month for 9 months, but whatever - melasma on cheeks and forehead starting to appear (I'm only 24, got some laser facial and hydroquinone cream/serum daily). Not an abnormal amount of depression or any mood swings, and my sex drive was normal. Just switched to Levora to help the breakthrough bleeding, but I've noticed some acne coming back after just 5 pills of the new one. Might be switching back to Lutera just for the clear skin!"

For Birth Control "I was on Depo-Provera before Lutera. It was terrible. My mood swings were terribly out of control, bleeding was always there, and depression occurred. Switching to Lutera was a good idea because it is a low-dose birth control, which has helped my mood swings tremendously!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for a good 5 months, it was supposed to be good for my acne but has made my acne worse. It has caused me to become VERY irritated, but the reason I am switching is that it has caused heavy breakthrough bleeding, which is quite frustrating! I have been on 5 other birth control pills in the last 8 years and never experienced this before. Besides the breakthrough bleeding, it has made my actual period A LOT shorter, it only lasts about 1-3 days, but I get it about every 2 weeks instead of my usual 29-day cycle."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for nearly 2 years (will be 2 years in January). At first, I didn’t notice anything too alarming. I mean, my depression and anxiety were a little worse, but I figured my body was just getting used to the new birth control. Well, fast forward to now, it hasn’t let up. I have gained over 50 lbs, and my periods have moments of being a week late or a week early, or I’ll be bleeding heavily for 7-10 straight days, when I normally just bleed for 5, and I’m only heavy the 2nd and 3rd day. I had one month where I bled for 14 days, which is extremely out of the norm for my body. I was using Emoquette before Lutera, and I never experienced any issues with Emoquette, especially not weight gain. I will be switching back to Emoquette when it comes time to renew my prescription."

For Birth Control "After giving birth to my third baby, my OBGYN put me on Lutera as a low-dose contraceptive to balance out my hormones as well as be a backup method of birth control since my husband was due to have a vasectomy. Unfortunately, after 5 months, I had to switch, as I was getting a minimum of two periods a month, and during the worst month I was on Lutera, I bled 22 of 29 days. Finally, I gave up and switched to another pill, clearly, my body and my hormones didn't sync with Lutera."

For Birth Control "Had no side effects except for significant breakthrough bleeding (usually about the same amount of bleeding as a regular period for me), so I was basically on my period twice a month. No significant change to my acne, weight, mood, etc. Changed medication after 6 months because I was bleeding so much."

For Birth Control "I used Lutera for a little over 2 years to stop my periods. Unfortunately, it has stopped working, and I've been having lots of breakthrough bleeding. In fact, I start bleeding only 1 week after taking the placebo pills."

For Birth Control "I became severely depressed using this drug Lutera. It started with the bleeding right after my period, and the dizzy spells - quickly after depression. I cannot recommend this."
