For Endometriosis "I started this pill as I was told I had endometriosis, and this would help with the pain. For the first few months, it was great and helped with my pain. About 4 months in, I was told I have dermatitis on my face. This has lasted nearly 2 years now. It's horrible, and I rely on steroid creams to control the flare-ups. I've also realized I'm angry and moody for no reason at all. I've just started to break out around my mouth and chin area, which I never had before. I gained 10 kg in the first year, and now I fluctuate, but all up I've gained 14 kg. Will definitely be changing."

For Birth Control "I'm a 29-year-old in New Zealand. Not been on any contraceptive before. I tried Levlen for 6 weeks before I quit. My period normally lasts for 10 days, so my Dr. and I were hoping that by taking the pill, I wouldn't get periods anymore, full stop. And that my mood would be more stable as my periods often made me sad. I took the pills correctly, skipped the sugar pills, and just kept taking a hormone pill every morning. BUT still got my period. The worst thing was that it lasted almost 30 days! And I was very anxious and felt like more of an angry and impatient person. I wasn't sure whether to keep taking it and see if it stabilized after 3-4 months. I had friends say good things about taking the pill, so was half hopeful, half scared/worried. But at this point, after a month of bleeding, I was over it. I went back to my Dr., and she said I had a very unusual response to it, and we decided to stop taking it. It literally did the opposite of what we were aiming for."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "Was worried about switching from Brenda (a high-dose pill) to Levlen, but after 10 years on Brenda, felt it was time to try. Brenda has made my acne go away and so was concerned that would come back. Pleased to say skin has been fantastic, clearer than before actually and smoother and not as dry. Small patch of breakthrough bleed once, but only minor. No other side effects or problems. This pill is so much cheaper than Brenda too, so I’m wishing I’d given it a go much sooner."

For Endometriosis "Started taking Levlen about 6 weeks ago, horrendous experience with it, immediate weight gain, depressed, and where I would have a heavy period for 1 week a month, I've had a constant period for the past 6 weeks with sore boobs. I spoke to the doctor who changed around the dose, and the bleeding seemed to get lighter, but I still have it. I've zero sex drive with it and moody all of the time. I will be stopping this pill, especially after reading all the other experiences with it also."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Levlen ED for 3 years, the first pill my friend ever prescribed me. Ever since I started, my mood swings have been horrid, I gained weight and have not been able to get it off regardless of the calorie deficit or training I do. I was able to eat so much beforehand, and I’m consuming less now... I developed symptoms of anxiety and depression, and I recently went back to my doctor after multiple breakdowns in the past year and decided: no, it has to be the pill. I was told that Levlen ED is the worst for mood swings and negative mental health effects... glad I was informed now. Would not recommend, yes, it helped my skin, periods (used to get horrendous 10-day heavy bleeds with cramps that left me lifeless), contraceptive use, and that’s about it."

For Birth Control "I would just like to say I am day 5 into taking this pill, and it sucks so far! I have been throwing up and feeling nauseous all day. This all started today (3 a.m.). The pills before were completely fine, but now I feel like crap. I'm laying in bed trying to figure out what is going on with me, and it turns out so far one other lady has had the same issue. When I showered and dried myself, I noticed a thick, white, clumpy, smelly discharge type. I have done research, and all is saying a yeast infection, as what another lady has said. So far, the experience is rubbish. I will be looking into getting an Implanon and see how I go there. I don't like the inconvenience of taking a pill every day. I will give this pill a go, but I won't be sticking around for feeling like rubbish every day... NO THANK YOU."

For Endometriosis "I was diagnosed with endometriosis and put on Levlen to help reduce the length and pain of my periods. I would have periods that lasted over a month, they are now drastically shorter. They are also much lighter, and the pain is much better. I would need to take Advil multiple times a day, but now I can usually go without it. I've been on it for about four years, and from memory, I didn't have any side effects when I first started it, although I think it took a few months to really start working effectively. I know other people have said they got bad cystic acne, I used to break out during my period, but I have found it is actually now much better, however, I still do get a bit. Also, being able to skip periods is really great."

For Birth Control "I jumped onto Levlen just under a week ago, and since then I have been constantly nauseous, to the point that I can't even concentrate at work. I have not actually vomited, but the nausea is debilitating! I thought maybe I should have a good meal before taking it, so I did so, but no success came of it. Calling my doctor today to switch meds!"

For Birth Control "Just started Levlen around 2 months ago. Now I know that there is no proof that the pill causes weight gain, however, as soon as I started on this pill, I noticed a huge difference in my hunger levels. I’m usually one to lose weight quite quickly and “shake it off,” but I just can’t seem to get rid of it. I also have started to get bad acne/pimples, mostly around the chin area. Libido has completely disappeared, and I just don’t feel like myself. Will give it another month, but keen to try another pill."

For Birth Control "I have been prescribed this birth control after having several problems with the Implanon. I had side effects including breast tenderness and sweats for the first month of taking this pill. After a month on this pill, the side effects disappeared! It's the best thing I have taken as I have no outbreak of irregular periods and have more control of my cycle. I would recommend this product!"

For Birth Control "I've had a wonderful experience on Levlen 20/100. I moved to this pill about 5 years ago from a higher dose because I didn't want to be taking more hormones than necessary. I will eventually want to wean off birth control. I originally went on a higher dose pill for acne as a teenager. My skin is perfect on Levlen during times when I'm also cutting back on sugar, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep. I'll get a couple of pimples mainly on my chin if I'm not watching my diet/sleep/water intake. My period is maybe 2 days - I actually stopped using menstrual products because I found my period was so light it barely needed anything. I occasionally get slight cramps for a couple of hours on the day, but otherwise, I don't even think about my period. No mood swings as far as I can tell (although I've been on birth control for 10 years, so I don't know what it would be like without any BC). My experience is likely influenced by the fact that I am quite fit and do a lot of exercise."

For Birth Control "The only thing good that came out of Levlen was not getting pregnant. Other than that, my anxiety and depression got worse (now I have to go on medication), my periods got heavier and more painful, and I continued to get acne, but also, I got severe chronic migraines after being on it. I also completely lost all sex drive, and this caused issues between me and my partner. Now I have a copper IUD and likely cannot ever have any other hormonal birth control when this wouldn't have been an issue before. It also increased issues with my other chronic illnesses, and I became more fatigued and struggled to do anything in the afternoon."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "After 13 years on Diane35 (Estelle), I switched to Levlen. At first, it seemed fine, and for quite a long time, it appeared to be keeping my PCOS under control. Around the two-year mark, hair growth and acne reappeared at quite a fast pace, and nothing I tried seemed to help. After 6 months of battling acne, I’ve moved back to Diane35."

For Birth Control "I am 23 years old. I was on Levlen for 4 months. I don't want to say anything bad about this pill, but I will share my experience. The first month was constant headaches, no breakthrough bleeding, and on-and-off heartburn. Second month, I began breaking out on my chin, as well as heartburn and headaches. Third month, the breakouts got really bad and extremely painful, and I began getting ‘dermatitis’ around both my eyes and lips. By my fourth month, I had constant headaches, heartburn every few days, and the dermatitis got worse, as well as the acne. Might I add, I never had acne prior to this. But I must say, birth control and period pain-wise, it was incredible. I did gain weight on this pill, but I didn't mind because period pain-wise, prior pill, was extreme."

For Birth Control "I was on Levlen for about 2 years. When I started Levlen, it took me roughly 3 months to 'settle' into. 3 months of spotting/bleeding through the active pill, moodiness, and eating anything and everything to do with food, as well as the odd food craving.... So you guessed it, weight gain. I'm a bit of a pushover, so this is why I stuck it out for so long. After the 3 months, I went back to normal, and me exercising got rid of the extra weight. My eating habits went back to normal, and I was back to my normal placid self. My partner and I are VERY sexually active, and no pregnancies and no scares. Long story short, besides 3 months of me being the worst kind of person with a passion for food, it did its job very well, and I was easily able to skip my period when I wanted, with no spotting/bleeding in between. P.S. If I skipped my period, I was bloated for almost a week."

For Birth Control "I received a prescription for Levlen ED about two weeks ago. My doctor warned me that some brands of birth control can trigger people that suffer from migraines, which I used to suffer from but haven’t in a long time. I made the switch to the pill after a bad experience with the Implanon, but I’ve only been using Levlen for one week, and I’ve come to realize it’s worse than the Implanon. Every day I’ve experienced migraines and nausea, and have had an outbreak of cystic acne (I’m 19 and have never had acne in my life), as well as developing a yeast infection. Switching brands ASAP or going off birth control completely, this pill isn’t worth the money or side effects based on my personal experience."

For Birth Control "After 3 days, I have decided to stop taking Levlen. I felt light-headed, and the thought of food made me nauseous... thought, okay, this can happen with any new medication, woke up feeling very dizzy and was having lots of absent seizures (I usually have 2 in the morning, but they wouldn't stop), so I went back to bed for a few hours. Woke up with a migraine and more seizures :( I have also been taking Prozac for 5 months, so not sure if it's a bad combination. Just a warning to anyone with epilepsy or anyone taking Prozac."

For Endometriosis "Changed to the lower dose form of Levlen after experiencing anxiety attacks from Yasmin. Just 2 months into the pill, anxiety has gone out of control, blood pressure was raised tremendously and had to be put on antidepressant to counteract the effects. Think twice before starting a pill."

For Endometriosis "My GP prescribed Levlen to control my abdominal pain. I have nearly finished the first month, and rather than stopping my period, it seems to have had the opposite effect - never-ending period. I had some nausea initially, but this has substantially reduced. In addition to my normal period pain, I have experienced unusual mood changes (anger, anxiety, flat affect). Further, it seems to have caused a flare in my lupus symptoms (joint and muscle pain). Overall, it feels like my batteries have been drained. I know this works for some people, but I personally regret taking it."

For Birth Control "Levlen made me a psycho! Felt like years of emotional rollercoasters and anxieties. I am literally so much more chill now that I’ve been off it for over 5 months. If you’re having relationship issues because you’re a moody person with mental health issues, then I recommend trying a different contraceptive option. It works well as a pregnancy deterrent, but so not worth it."

For Birth Control "I had been on Levlen for over 10 years. I started at 67 kg and now weigh 83 kg. I do a lot of weight training and am a PT, so I don’t blame all the weight gain on the pill. The biggest change I noticed was the way I reacted and my emotions with certain things. The past 6 to 9 months, my anxiety has definitely exacerbated to a point where I’ll feel differently every hour, from being super anxious to feeling numb. My mind would be going a hundred miles an hour, and I would be snapping at my mother constantly over the littlest things. The week before my period, I would have intense PMS and would have to constantly tell myself that it’s just PMS week. The week of my period, my moods would lift and the bloat would go away, then, once I’m back on the active tablets, the moods and bloating would come back. I’m trialing a month of the pill. It’s day 6. I’ve had bleeding/withdrawal for 5 days, and I can think properly again without brain fog, nervousness, and all-day tiredness."

For Birth Control "Mood swings, cyst-like acne, weight gain, and on top of this, I bled for 3 weeks straight while taking the active pills. My boobs have doubled in size and are so sore all the time. I would NOT recommend this pill, it has done nothing but make me an emotional mess. I have been off Levlen for 2 days now and hoping I start to feel like myself again soon."

Anyway, a week and a half ago, I stopped it due to this issue, and Thursday I got my monthlys back after 4 years of not having it."
