For Birth Control "Altavera made me so huge and gave me acne. I was always tired. I couldn’t move. I always felt heavy, even after working out. This pill made me so emotional and cranky most of the time. I wasn’t motivated to move around at all. It slowed my body down!! WORSE PILL!! DO NOT GET!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking various generics with the same active ingredient for 5 years (Portia, Chateal, and Levora) with no side effects at all. Mostly, I've taken Portia and never had an issue. Just last month, I was switched to Altavera through my insurance, and I have been CONSTANTLY exhausted and moody. I'm a healthy 30-year-old, and I went from sleeping 7-8 hours a night, doing an hour of cardio 3 times a week, and walking everywhere to sleeping up to 12 hours a night and waking up too tired to get out of bed. I feel terrible all the time, and my mood sucks, and I just feel weighed down and slow. I know it's only been 7 weeks, and I could just be getting used to it, but I never had side effects when switching generics before. If Altavera works for you, more power to you, but it doesn't work for my body, and it's made me very miserable. I changed because my insurance covers this, but I'd rather pay out of pocket for Portia or Chateal."

For Birth Control "I have been on Levora for about a year. Due to it being unavailable, my pharmacy switched me to Altavera about 4 months ago. I've had more frequent acne on Altavera, but nothing horrible. I've been trying to lose weight, and it's impossible on this pill. The worst of it is that I've been crying randomly, the tiniest things set it off. Awful headaches that don't respond to OTC or prescription medications. I've been sweating profusely for the last two months - something as simple as washing dishes has me drenched from head to mid-thigh. Also, I'm exhausted all the time. Honestly, I felt so exhausted and burnt out, I thought I was pregnant! That was about the moment that I realized all of this coincides with the medication change. I'm switching back to Levora. I have 3 packs of Altavera left, they will go right in the trash."

For Birth Control "This was a terrible medicine for me. Started taking this because my periods are awful. Altavera made me extremely irritable and tired. The first month was okay, was able to skip my period. Towards the end of the third pack, had a lot of spotting, so I decided to go ahead and take the placebo pills so I could have a break from the moodiness. Big mistake!!! Made my period so bad, I had diarrhea and threw up constantly the first day. I had to call out of work! The last pack I took, I started my period on the active pills, and it's horrible again. Super heavy flow with lots of clots. Switching to something else now."
