Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "My problem with this birth control is the side effects. I have times when I get depressed, I had mood swings, felt like throwing up, and even when I didn't eat, I gained about 15 lbs. Oh yeah, and worst of all, it made me bleed a lot. I don't mean heavy bleeding. I mean it made my periods longer than before when I was taking it. I read a lot of reviews saying the same thing but tried it anyway. The worst was I had a period that lasted a whole month one time. My doctor put me on Seasonique to see if that would help better."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was very skeptical to go on birth control because I have a sensitive stomach. Every form of birth control I’ve tried had made me vomit for days on end. I’ve tried NuvaRing a few years ago, and it was no exception. It made me very nauseous and gave me dry heaves, but not as bad as the pill. I decided to try it again recently and asked my doctor to prescribe me Zofran to help aid with the nausea until I’m used to the hormones. I’ve had a way better experience with NuvaRing this time around. I got used to it really quickly and no longer require the Zofran. If you suffer from nausea while on birth control, I highly recommend NuvaRing."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "It has been effective in preventing pregnancy. However, it makes me feel like shit. I am nauseous all the time, especially the first couple of days after putting it in. I have heartburn and fatigue that has only started since I have been on the NuvaRing. I got pregnant on the pill, and that's why I switched, but I feel so bad all the time because of it. I haven't stopped taking it yet, I'm on month four because I keep hoping it will get better, but it doesn't. It has been effective in preventing pregnancy - feeling so crappy has urged me to take a lot of pregnancy tests, and it's so convenient to only worry about it twice a month (put it in, take it out). I wish it didn't make me feel so bad, because I would continue to use it."

For Birth Control "I have been on the NuvaRing for years. No issues. I was able to control my cycles, and I had no side effects. I had my annual exam on May 19th, at which I picked up the generic form. No clue that it had come out. I have been sick ever since. My migraines come more frequently, I have been bleeding for over a month, off-and-on hot flashes, and nausea. I feel horrible and out of it. Waiting for the pharmacy to open so I can go get the brand name. I can't function on this med."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I started on the oral contraceptive pill but got horrible nausea and vomiting, so this was my next option. NuvaRing has been fantastic, it has a fraction of the hormones, and I get no nausea. Insertion and removal is really not a hassle, and you cannot feel it at all. For me, it beats the pill and vomiting, along with all the other symptoms. I haven't had any noticeable mood issues or migraines. I would recommend it to anyone!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I think this is a fine product for some. Easy to use and never felt it in. However, after about 10 days in, I experienced panic, tingling, nausea, increased irritability, moodiness, and signs of depression. In other words: it made me feel like another person. Friends I know have tried it and loved it, but I got the same hormonal BC effects, sadly, I'd gotten with oral BC pills. :("

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I just wanted to add in my positive experience with NuvaRing also! I figured that the majority of women who were having a positive outcome weren't commenting. After being on this for 3 cycles, I have to say that I do enjoy the convenience. I did notice in the beginning a little bit of acne, but that was expected for the first month, according to my Dr. I didn't experience any weight gain, it was quite the opposite. I have noticed that I am losing weight, but in a healthy amount. I did experience some of the nausea the first week, but it quickly went away with time. My aunt was on the NuvaRing for over 4 years, and she had great reviews as well."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've used the NuvaRing for 8 years after my 2nd IUD expelled itself. I never had nausea and adverse effects like what I had when I was on the pills. It's way easier to remember to change, and some months I wear it for 4 weeks and skip my period and insert a new one. Doc said it's OK to do this but not for more than 4 months in a row. I have easy, light periods, and the ring makes them even lighter. I just love it and its convenience. But as I approach my mid-30s, it does scare me with the risk of blood clots, especially being a smoker. Within the next few years, my husband will have a vasectomy, but until then, I'll stick with NuvaRing. It does cause more discharge throughout the day because it's a foreign object in your vagina, and your body supposedly creates more discharge to try to get it out. It's a bit annoying, but nothing crazy."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "So, I have been on the NuvaRing for about 6 months now. These are the side effects that I have experienced: headaches, nausea, soreness just in the first couple of weeks, but I was told that was normal at the beginning, so I kept on. I skipped my period for 2 months, then the 3rd month, I bled for 3 weeks VERY HEAVILY. I also ended up in the hospital with cramps like I’ve never felt before and ended up having a large mass of tissue come out of me. I thought it was a miscarriage, but it was something called a decidual cast, which is where your whole uterus lining comes out. I got extremely depressed and irritable, lashing out at my fiancé. I started experiencing “breakthrough bleeding,” but it’s been going on for 2 months straight, and I cannot get rid of this awful odor that comes with it. I’m taking it out as soon as I see my doctor. I’m scared for what could happen to my mental and physical health if I stay on it."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was 20 when I got on the NuvaRing. I wanted it because my periods were very intense and I had a terrible time taking the pill because I was very busy and my schedule varied. The first 3 months, I was so sick to my stomach, and then after that I was fine! (So I felt.) My husband and I were thinking about having children when I was about 23 years old (2018). I was doing research and learned the NuvaRing actually stops ovulation. Most BC methods don’t even let you ovulate, so that 'fake little period' is not you being regulated. I immediately quit taking it in February of 2018. I did not get a period until July of that year, and I bled into August. Then I started bleeding again in September and bled another 30 days before having to get progesterone pills to stop the bleeding. I would only have 3 more periods between December and May of 2019. I finally was able to conceive in July of 2019 after actively trying 8 months, but we would have tried longer had I been getting my cycles!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I did not last long on NuvaRing. It's not worth waiting the few months for your body to 'adjust' to it. I couldn't even last a few weeks before taking it out for good. It made me terribly ill to the point of feeling like I was going to die. I've been on the pill (both forms) and would experience nausea in the morning since I took my pill right before bed. And I've also had the implant that goes in your arm, which caused spotting every day and weight gain. Out of all four birth control methods, the NuvaRing is the worst (at least for me). It also made my vagina very irritated to the point of not wanting to have sex. I wouldn't recommend the NuvaRing, but everyone is different, so you may or may not have the same experience I've had."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "This is my first month with NuvaRing. The first week was awful. I had nausea and headache. It lasted for a full week. I was about to take it out, but I didn’t. Now I am at the 3rd week, and I don’t have nausea or headache. I didn’t want to tell my hubby about the NuvaRing to see if he could notice it. He said that he felt something there. I read before that you could take it out for less than 3 hours and still are protected. So next time I am doing that. Also, while we were having sex, it felt really warm/hot inside, so I would say that is a good idea (for me anyways) to remove it before sex."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I only used NuvaRing for 8 days. I didn't have cramping or anything, but in the first 5 days, I gained 5 lbs despite exercising 5 days per week. I also started salivating a lot more (on the verge of drooling), had a much-increased appetite, was nauseous, and on the day I decided to remove it, I was very dizzy for most of the day, nauseous, and had a headache. I think I'll be going with a copper IUD."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing for about 6 months. My OBGYN recommended it for PCOS. The same night I inserted it, I felt so dizzy and nauseous. The next day I felt fine. However, the nausea would continue to come and go throughout the day for months. I gave it time for my body to adjust, but I couldn’t take it anymore. Aside from the nausea, I was really emotional and depressed. I liked the convenience of not having to take a pill every day, but I think I was just very sensitive to the hormones."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've been on NuvaRing for almost 3 years, and it has been the most convenient, with the least side effects. I've had lighter periods, especially in the last year or so. I know others say it helps with cramps as well, but my pain hasn't decreased as far as I can remember. My husband says he feels it when we have sex, and when we get really energetic, it tends to bruise him. I do find that the week before my period, I get nauseous on and off during the day, but that may have nothing to do with the NuvaRing at all. Outside of that, it's been a real awesome experience for me. No serious side effects."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel "My doctor prescribed NuvaRing to address possible endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and painful periods. However, the experience has been challenging. I pay $300 every three months for the medication, but I've experienced month-long bleeding and period symptoms every other month, even though I'm supposed to skip my period on this birth control. Initially, I also experienced massive mood swings, alternating between anger and crying. But after taking it for five months, my anxiety has skyrocketed, and I'm always angry. I've gained significant weight despite not changing my diet, developed random rashes on my face and body, and become almost asexual. Even when I'm able to have sex, it's excruciatingly painful, leading to tears. Additionally, I've experienced ocular migraines, bloating, nausea, and a significantly increased heart rate. To make matters worse, none of my regular pain has subsided. I would advise avoiding this drug if possible."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "First birth control I've ever been on, and I have had little to no side effects, with the only tangible ones being weight loss (lost 5 lbs) and some mood swings or nausea during my first week of inserting NuvaRing and the night after I take it out. These symptoms are super manageable and don't affect my daily life whatsoever! I've been on NuvaRing for about 5 months now, using it as the only method of birth control, and it has amazing results! I don't feel it when it's in place, and my boyfriend hasn't felt it during sex either. I love that I get my period monthly since it lets me know for sure that my birth control is doing its job and I'm not pregnant! I don't see myself switching brands for a long time."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Is extremely nauseous, loss of appetite, and bad heartburn. I feel sick whenever I eat and have vomited. Has had severe heartburn, difficulty breathing, and very uncomfortable (recurring but not always severe). Has had mood swings - happy to sad and vice versa. Have cried and felt emotional. Sex drive not affected, like others have said in their reviews. I do get the occasional stomach cramping. I have a very busy life, so I love the one-time application, set my date for removal, and forget about it. I'm trying to look past the extreme nausea---but if I did not have that, I would’ve been happy with NuvaRing."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I used the ring for a little over 10 years, no problems, no weight gain, but about 5 years into it, I started having chest pains every so often, as well as really bad headaches and nausea. I put up with it due to the convenience of the ring, but then started getting really painful periods to the point that I took it off and all the symptoms went away. After about 8 months, then I got pregnant, no problem. Now my husband is just going to have a vasectomy to avoid all the complications that come with birth control medications."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on and off the NuvaRing. I tried 3 times, every time I was on it, my stomach hurt so bad, and I felt nauseous. I took it out and tried again a month later, and I felt sick again. I'm not sure what in the world they put in the NuvaRing, but it makes you feel sick all the time. I just recently put it in last Sunday, the whole week I felt sick and bloated. The middle of my back was hurting and sore. I just took it out literally 5 minutes ago, and I feel normal again. This is the 3rd time this has happened. It's frustrating."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been using NuvaRing for 2 months. I have been very emotional, have bad anxiety, shaking of hands and whole body, very nauseous all the time. I don't think this is a good birth control option for me at all. When I used birth control pills, I never experienced anything like this. It may be good for others, but not for me."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "This is my third month on NuvaRing and first time ever being on birth control and haven't had any major side effects. The first month I felt slightly nauseous the second and third day of being on the ring. Other than that, it's been great! I take the ring out and two days later I have my period. No spotting or breast tenderness. So far, I've had a great experience."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on NuvaRing several years ago before trying an IUD due to minimal side effects. I recently had my IUD removed and wanted to go back on NuvaRing but received EluRyng instead. I am experiencing awful side effects - mood swings, fatigue, nausea, weight gain, headaches. I don’t ever remember feeling this way on NuvaRing, but I will be going back on it."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I enjoy this birth control. I was apprehensive to use it because of the reviews, but it's kind of luck when it comes to taking any form of birth control. I went with NuvaRing because my mom used it and said she had no side effects. A bit of background info: we both suffer from severe depression. I've been using it for two months. There are only a few effects I've experienced: breast growth, a few weeks of light period, an increase in sex drive, maybe motion sickness. The long period comes from me trying to cheat the system and insert it early to end my period on the 4th week, which is safe. I think all it did was slow it down. With the motion sickness, I don't know if it's the BC, but I experience car sickness when I drive now."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing for 6 years. When I first started it, I had the typical headaches and nauseous feeling that's normal when starting BC. Over the course of those 6 years, I began having mild depression and lost my enthusiasm for life or anything, really. I would have sharp and intense pains in my lower abdomen area (uterus/ovaries), which at some points had me bent over in pain. On 2 occasions that I can recall, I had very irregular and very heavy bleeding, which is very unusual for myself, especially because both times the bleeding lasted nearly a month. When I finally got fed up enough with NuvaRing and took it out for good, I was bleeding extremely heavily for 2-3 weeks straight after my regular period. Within 2 days, bleeding was done."
