For Migraine Prevention "I went to the doctor for a check-up, and she asked how my migraines were. Terrible, as usual. I've had them my whole life. So she said, let's try this new medication. I asked if there were any side effects. Only at the injection site, she said. I never had any problems at the injection site, but I have had a headache every day upon waking up in the morning and throughout the day. The headaches are worse than ever. I have also experienced being very tired after 2:00 for whatever reason. I will never take this medication again! I will go back to the natural oils and naproxen."

For Migraine Prevention "I had an Aimovig 140 injection on April 15th. It’s now May 2nd. The first 4 days were okay, but on day 5, things got bad. I have had a constant headache since. My head feels heavy and is constantly throbbing. I can barely stand up. I know it has a 28-day half-life. How long until Aimovig leaves my system - 112 days for 93% to be out of your system and 140 days for about 97% to be out of your body."

For Migraine Prevention "After a week from my first Aimovig injection, I have had the same excruciating headaches. I have also had sudden symptoms that sound like a heart attack: burning pain above my breastbone, back muscle pain, pain down both arms, and the sweats. I have tried almost every kind of drug and treatment, this one is the worst experience. I won't try it again."

For Migraine Prevention "I took my first trial shot 70 mg/ml a few weeks ago, and it flared my fibromyalgia. I have been nauseous, plus my muscles have been extremely sore and weak, along with fatigue and daily headaches. I don't know if I can do another month if this continues or gets worse. I have UnitedHealth through my husband, and they don't cover it."

For Migraine Prevention "Has anyone experienced mood changes and feeling lethargic? I have for sure had the constipation and will be trying a natural remedy to help. This will be my second month, but I'm still getting the usual headaches. Not giving up yet, but my insurance has not approved the RX yet. If they don’t, then I’ll stay on the Imitrex and Advil."

For Migraine Prevention "I took Aimovig for the first time on August 29, 2018. Since I took it, my head pain has been worse, my dizziness and lightheadedness have truly increased, having stomach cramps every single day. It feels like I am having seizures like I did before I had seizure surgery, and getting less sleep even more (under 4 hours daily). I don’t know how much more I can take. I am so close to going to the hospital."

For Migraine Prevention "I started my first Aimovig injection February 5th. I took my 2nd March 5th and am due for another April 5th. I was still weaning off Topamax in February. But the side effects have been ridiculous. I have insomnia, rapid heartbeat, stomach issues, constipation, stiff joints, muscle cramps and spasms, leg and arm pain, neck pain and headaches, dizziness/vertigo, hot flashes (day and night), hair loss, chest pains, and my blood pressure had gone up, and it used to be low. It had reduced my migraines, but the side effects are not worth it."

For Migraine Prevention "First off, I suffered severe intractable migraines for over 50 years. The longest was 21 days straight, another 19 days with no relief. I started using Emgality for 4 months and had amazing results, from 4-5 migraines a week to one a month! I was so elated, but the downside was the high cost of Emgality. (Free trials are only for PPO insurance.) As a disabled vet, a few months ago the VA started offering and providing the CGRP meds; Aimovig was the only choice available through them, so I switched. Not a great result. While I believe my migraines have a reduced frequency, only several times a month so far, the side effects are troubling. I have a constant headache in the back of my head, like a severe tension headache that just won't go away. I feel as if I am in a fog frequently, and when I start sentences sometimes they don't seem right. I need to wait 30 days after the last Aimovig injection, but I will return to Emgality. The side effects so far have virtually outweighed the benefits."

For Migraine Prevention "Not yet confirmed if these are side effects of Aimovig. I have bad constipation, blood pressure spikes, severe anxiety, headaches each morning (not migraines), tinnitus is worse, chest pressure/pain. Went to ER and nothing found; not taking this again even though I have only had one minor migraine. It’s barely been a month since the first injection. Not continuing."

For Migraine Prevention "This went from bad to worse. This is day 7, and I wake up every morning with a headache, tight chest, dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea. I’m trying to cope with all these symptoms and stomach issues. Honestly, I don’t think I will be doing a second course of the meds. Yes, I have noticed my migraines be less, but the side effects outweigh the issues I have. I’m sorry, I will have to pass on this."

For Migraine Prevention "My migraines started when I was about 36. I am now 56. I tried everything that my insurance would pay for. I took so many OTC meds that I thought I had ruined my stomach. While in the doctor's office one day, I read about Botox. I asked the doctor if I could try that, but my insurance would not pay for it. Then I saw a commercial for Aimovig. Talked to my doctor again to try this, and again my insurance would not pay for it. This time, though, my doctor gave me a pamphlet from Aimovig with a discount card in it. I called and got set up to where I only pay $5. I have been on Aimovig for a year and 1 month now. I went from having a migraine 20-25 days out of the month to now just having a headache either 3 days before the next dose or 3 days after taking the dose. As mentioned in other reviews, this is not for everyone, but you can't knock it until you try it for yourself. At first, I was afraid to give myself the shot, but afterwards, I am glad I overcame that fear. Aimovig is working for me."

For Migraine Prevention "I do not think the side effects are worth it. I am somewhat able to function with medications, and maybe Aimovig is for those that cannot. I was sick for over a week, flu-like symptoms, lots of chills and shaking. I almost thought I might not be okay at one point. I still got a lot of headaches, more tired than I've ever been. For me, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had, and I couldn't be paid to take it again. I cannot wait till it is out of my system, and I feel completely like myself again. The half-life is 28 days, so over 5 months for it to be gone. I'm happy to hear that it is changing people's lives, it has, unfortunately, negatively impacted mine."

For Migraine Prevention "This medication has given me back my life. I used to dread waking up in the morning, I always woke up with a headache, and I lived in fear that this was again going to be a dreaded migraine. Not anymore. Do I still get headaches and migraines? Yes. But I actually smile when I wake up now, and my headache-free days greatly outnumber my bad days."

For Migraine Prevention "The jury is still out. I’ve used 70 mg for 3 months. After the first injection, I went 2 weeks with NO head pain. However, after the third injection, I had almost a two-week-long headache. This leads me to believe the Aimovig isn’t playing a part in how I feel and it’s all just the normal migraine cycle. I also take propranolol, Effexor, Zanaflex, zonisamide, Botox, magnesium, feverfew, butterbur, CoQ10, get regular nerve blocks and trigger point injections, along with Toradol injections. I have been waiting for Aimovig for a long time. I really, REALLY want it to work. I’ll take my first 140 mg dose tomorrow. If my experience improves in the next few months, I’ll post an update."

For Migraine Prevention "I had my first injection on June 2nd, it was the 140 mg injection. About 3-4 days later, I started getting lightheaded and dizzy. Wasn’t too bad at first, but as of today, June 11th, I had to grab onto something at least 3 times because I got so dizzy that I thought I was going to pass out. As I sit here writing this, I am lightheaded, have a buzzing in my ears, and have head pressure. I have severe panic and anxiety, and these issues are making it much worse. Also, this medication has not helped my migraines. If anything, it’s worse. These symptoms could be something else altogether (Lord, I hope not), but I’m thinking the medicine may have amplified issues. I won’t be taking Aimovig again. What I don’t understand is why none of these symptoms are mentioned, yet there are many who have experienced the same issues while receiving an injection. The nurse that gave me the injection told me the only side effect is constipation. Obviously not."

For Migraine Prevention "I reported side effects to the FDA in January 2019 following my second 140 mg dose of Aimovig. It includes the fact that I developed sharp headaches, stabbing stomach pain, and viruses. It's now the end of March, and I've had several migraines, including one today that resulted in vomiting. This, as well as becoming much more prone to viruses, are new. Also, I hadn't vomited from a migraine since 2006. Now I'm back to vomiting with bad migraines. My last dose was in January, and I'm still experiencing muscle pain in my leg that's like a tetanus shot. The FDA allowed Amgen to rush Aimovig to market. Patient and doctor prescribing information is sorely lacking relevant information. CGRP works in multiple body systems, including our cardiovascular system. Aimovig doesn't just pinpoint CGRP as it pertains to migraines. Therefore, the body loses the protective aspects of CGRP when dosed with Aimovig."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been on Aimovig for 4 months now. I’ve experienced flu-like symptoms (including severe fatigue), increased nerve pain, and my headaches have been more severe than they’ve been in years. I’ve actually been throwing up, my migraines are so bad. I’ve also had muscle weakness and soreness. The day of and after the injection, I’m practically useless due to fatigue and head fog. I haven’t had constipation, but the second month I had abdominal pain so bad I almost went to the hospital. I’ve failed multiple other meds, so I have tried sticking to this one but cannot do it anymore. For me, it’s been nothing but pain. I’ve even missed work because of it. I hope one day there will be a cure."

For Migraine Prevention "Updated review ~ (I commented on 2019-03-24 under the same name) I must say, after figuring out all the side effects of this drug ~ constipation, severe headache the first week, dizziness, light-headed & feeling out of place ~ I decided to give the medication another opportunity to work. I’m on my second month and must say I do not feel dizzy, and the constipation that I had before I was able to cope with by adding two fiber gummy bears each night. I no longer get hit by days of migraines anymore, but rather 2-3 max a month, but not with the severe intensity as before. This medication has dramatically improved my life. I no longer have to be afraid of planning my weekly activities, I can finally, after years, drink a beer with friends and enjoy the light. I truly & sincerely enjoy life again. Yes, this medication has side effects, but being able to enjoy life again outweighs the side effects that can be handled with."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been taking this for 2 months, and apart from slight constipation in the first month, which has now gone, and a headache initially after the first injection, I have had no side effects whatsoever. I have had two three-week episodes with no migraines at all, which is amazing as I am a daily sufferer of migraines. Give this a try, you have nothing to lose, it’s made a huge difference to my life, and everything seems clearer. Good luck."

For Migraine Prevention "It's honestly difficult for me to say much regarding my first Aimovig injection. I took it at a time when I was already suffering from a string of migraines beforehand. I also came down with a virus. I finally seem to be improving now. I don't like needles, but when I first injected myself, it wasn't that bad. It only stung a little. After the injection, I did experience some extra head pressure and ringing in my ears; but that easily could've been due to my previous issues. I have noticed that the Aimovig actually helped my constipation issues, and I think it is calming down my acid reflux. For the first couple of weeks, I think it also helped my body aches. I do have insomnia, but I had insomnia before. The next two months will give me a better idea of how the injection works."

For Migraine Prevention "The first time I took this was over a year ago and was the 70 mg injection. All it did was make my head hurt worse for a few days, and then that was it, no other side effects. My neurologist suggested it again, and I told him I didn’t like how it made me feel last time, but he said you have to take it for at least three months to see if you get results, so I took it on May 3, 2021, and didn’t have any problems until two weeks after when it became like a nightmare. I’ve had severe insomnia, ringing in the ears, severe anxiety, and panic attacks. Also, it feels as if my head has pressure on top of it and I have dizziness that is horrible. I don’t feel like myself because of this drug, it’s been a bad year for me to begin with because I had to have a neck fusion surgery with two discs removed. I’ve tried too many procedures that didn’t help and made my headaches worse, and now this stuff, Aimovig, that I put into my body was the last straw."

For Migraine Prevention "I’m 28 and have had migraines since I was 3 years old. Have tried several preventatives, and am currently on 200 mg Topamax. About 2 years ago, my migraines became chronic. Gave myself the 1st injection, a 70 mg dose of Aimovig, at the end of July, and 3 days later, migraines were back and I was missing work as usual. Five weeks into daily debilitating migraines, I had my 2nd 70 mg injection. The next morning, I was feeling better. That was one week ago, and all I’ve had since is mild headaches, but no migraines. Really hoping Aimovig broke the migraine cycle I was in, and that this isn’t just a fluke. Still waiting to hear if my insurance will cover. I’ll post again when I know more."
