For Migraine Prevention "Aimovig was good till it wasn't. The first time I took it was during a long migraine, and it cleared right up. I had some muscle cramps and weakness, plus a blinding non-migraine headache for a few days, but the migraines were gone, so I was happy. The second injection was a nightmare. Overwhelming fatigue, irritability, malaise, muscle cramps, and nightmares. I regret taking that second shot. I'm still living with some side effects, but they are slowly fading. This drug may help some people, but it very nearly ruined my life."

For Migraine Prevention "I had 3 Aimovig shots for chronic migraine - 70, 70, 140. It works. The headaches faded to a daily 1 or 2. But side effects? Bad enough that I've quit Aimovig. Constipation I can control. But the fatigue. I'm a fitness freak, and the wobbly-legged feeling of exhaustion was shocking. Plus a fuzzy lethargy that makes it hard to get up and get started. I still want to take a nap all the time. Dizziness when I change position. I sit and wait for the room to stop rotating. Lately, this comes with nausea - 6 weeks after my last injection. Muscle spasms - legs and hands. Try to sleep with that going on all night. So, I'm out. My doc suggests Ajovy, but now I'm leery of the CGRP inhibitors. These things need extended research, in my opinion. We who experience serious side effects may be risking lasting compromise. For me, it worked. But I suspect it's like belting yourself on the head with a hammer to nail a mosquito. You'll stop the itch, but you may cause a lot of collateral damage."

For Migraine Prevention "It works, but side effects aren't worth it. I took the first 70 mg dose on 4/28/2023, the very next day, I was so exhausted I could barely make it through the day. I had to nap (which I never do) and then slept a full 7 hours (which also I never do if I nap). I take 10-15 mg/day of Adderall for ADHD, I took 20 mg today trying to combat the extreme fatigue and grogginess, and it did absolutely nothing. I could barely stand long enough to take a full shower. My body feels so weak and exhausted. It's only day 2, and I really regret taking it. I can't keep my eyes open or focus long enough to study, and I have finals. My migraines are triggered by many things, one being the weather. Today is humid, cloudy, and the barometric pressure is below 30, which would always cause me a migraine, but I don't have one. So it's possible Aimovig is working, but if I don't have enough energy and alertness to function, then it's not worth it."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Aimovig for 10 months. It has reduced my migraines from 6-7/month to 2-3/month. A side effect is really 14-16 hours after injection of fatigue, physical slowness, and no energy. I take it right after work on a Friday, and I’m okay by Saturday midday. A little leg soreness for a day, but nothing major. Level 1 on the pain scale. Also, CVS found a coupon that makes it $5!"

For Migraine Prevention "I started Aimovig a week ago, now I am having chronic fatigue and chest pain, I can barely stand. I only feel like this after a very bad case of pneumonia. This isn't normal, I have also had a headache for a week straight. I feel like I'm struggling to breathe. I did great with Botox, I just didn't like the Botox 'face.' I will discontinue and return to Botox. This isn't worth it. Not for me."

For Migraine Prevention "Started Aimovig 140 six months ago. 1st injection, I got swelling on the left side of my face and neck, and shortness of breath. 2nd jab was better, no swelling, but really bad muscle cramps and twitches all over my body. Head never really gave me a break, ranging from mild to severe, never going away. Still taking Aimovig today, still suffering heart palpitations, really bad muscle cramps, fatigue, and nausea. Going to speak to neuro on next appointment. Good luck, everyone."

For Migraine Prevention "Aimovig only lasts about 3 weeks out of the month and has side effects that are annoying. Constipation, dizziness when lying down, muscle cramps, and some fatigue. Does seem to make the gastrointestinal tract more swollen, and bloating is an issue. But these side effects are manageable, and the benefits outweigh the risks, especially for people with severe migraines."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been taking Aimovig for 6 months now. I have had migraines since I was in my 20s, averaging 15+ a month. They got significantly worse after a closed head injury in my late 30s. Triptans and other preventatives were mostly ineffective due to vomiting. This medication has given me my life back. For the first time in years, I can plan ahead and enjoy my life. It isn't without its side effects, I get severe muscle pain in my chest, neck, and arm for a few days after injection, coupled with stomach upset and lack of appetite. Fatigue as well, these wear off as the 28 days progress. I also have Botox every 12 weeks to supplement the relief. So while it may not work for some, it is really worth trying, it has reduced my migraines by 85%."

For Migraine Prevention "Two days after initial injection, I noticed loss of energy and loss of appetite, generally just feeling 'not with it.' Waiting to see if this passes. Still getting headaches, although not as severe."

For Migraine Prevention "I took my fourth injection today at 140 mg. Each time I am incredibly fatigued and get a headache/migraine. The first injection I had an intractable migraine for 3 days. But overall, I am seldom having migraines now. I just dread the day I have to do an injection and know I will not feel well for a day or two. It is worth it since I had chronic migraines more days a month than not, but now it is only one time a month with the injection."
