For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for five years now and LOVE it. I've had no issues, and it kept the major cramps, acne, and babies away. I started at 16 and am now 21. I actually have to switch because I've been having breakthrough bleeding a lot, but this is the first time in five years I've had to deal with it. Might just be from my hormones changing with getting older. I'm very sad I'll be leaving Yaz and will be sure to return to it if this next one doesn't work. It's treated me great!"

For Birth Control "I found this pill at the start to be amazing and fit me the best. But later, I discovered it is not for me. I'm now switching pills to see if I can bring back my old self. I have taken Yaz for 14 months and am now taking my month, which will make it 15 months. To say I'm tired is not the word, and shifting weight is near impossible. I have exercised and dieted with nothing more than a pound gained or the scale not moving. I also have in-between bleeding. After taking the 15th day, I am guaranteed brown discharge and then some spotting, which I shouldn't be getting. My period now has been the worst I have ever gotten in a long time."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've suffered from severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder my entire adult life. Yaz has been wonderful for me. I began taking it nearly 2 years ago. It took some time for my body to adjust to Yaz, probably more than 6 months. The main side effect for me was heavy bleeding. I've found Yaz to be wonderful as long as I take it religiously at the same time each day, within 1-2 hours. Deviation seems to bring on side effects. I recently switched from taking it before bed to taking it in the morning. The PMS mid-cycle was terrible. I may have to add a low dose of Prozac to help me through the adjustment."

For Birth Control "This is the worst drug I have ever taken. Two weeks after taking it, my breasts swelled up, they were so painful I can hardly work... I had problems bleeding last night, and I feel most of my body itching... my waist hurts... my energy levels are so low it feels like I am so sick... I feel cold and depressed... I never felt so bad."

For Birth Control "As far as birth control... never got pregnant. That is the only plus. Horrible cramps, heavy bleeding, soaking through tampons in an hour or less, passing of large clots, headaches. Looking forward to switching off to a different BCP."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Started taking Yaz for heavy periods and very severe PMS/PMDD. Two weeks into the first pack, and I started bleeding. Not just normal, but really bad bleeding. A week later, and I was in the emergency room being admitted for severe blood loss and had 3 units of blood transfused."

For Acne "I am currently on my second pack of Yaz, only a few days left. I have had a few horrible side effects. Firstly, since starting Yaz, I have had 3 extreme yeast infections due to the pill. To add, my vagina is not lubricated anymore, it's very dry and I struggle to have sex, it is painful. The pill has weakened my immune system, giving me tonsillitis and a cold sore (which I haven't had in 4 years now). I am bleeding in between when the fake period is supposed to occur. I have a constant sore lump in my left boob. It has made me depressed and irritated. As for my skin - it has stayed the same. I am thinking of stopping the pill after this second pack because clearly my body does not like it. It has made sex unenjoyable, and I can barely do it due to yeast infections and no lubrication! Just want my normal body back - I don't think it is worth going through all this for clear skin. I am worried that my vagina will not go back to its normal state if I continue on this pill."

For Birth Control "I am 46. My gynecologist said not to believe the reviews after prescribing Yaz to me. So, I didn't read the reviews. I stopped taking it yesterday. Here is why: severe bleeding, even now...20 days later, depression, suicidal thoughts, and depletion of reserves of my vitamin B12. This drug should not be on the market. I have put forth a complaint to the company and suggest everyone does the same. I am still suffering the consequences of taking it. And I hope my suffering ends soon, and I feel better. If you are suffering like me...feel better...stop taking it."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for 5 weeks. I used to break out a little bit every once in a while. I wanted to go on birth control to completely clear it. Within a week, I was so badly bloated I couldn't fit into my clothes. I bled heavily nonstop the entire five weeks I was on it. I am prone to a bit of anxiety/depression, but I have NEVER experienced anything like the kind of depression I had on this pill (panic attacks, constant crying). But WORST OF ALL - it gave me severe, nodular cystic acne. My skin went from near perfect to clogged pores covering my entire cheeks, which became HUGE DEEP nodular acne that has left my face scarred. Even after being off the pill, I remained sick. Finally, almost 2 years later, I saw a naturopath who found that the pill had COMPLETELY thrown off my hormones. With her help, I was finally able to balance my hormones, clear my acne, and fix my sleep. This pill almost ruined my life. There are WAY better ways to fix your acne (diet, hormone changes with a naturopath, exercise)."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for over a year before I had Mirena put in. I had really heavy periods and severe cramping before I was on Yaz, and Yaz made my periods almost invisible. No cramping, light bleeding, and I had energy. Recommend."

For Birth Control "This was the second BC I have ever taken. It was absolutely terrible. I have always had light periods (panty liner light) and no cramps. When I took this birth control, I had such horrible cramps that I kept throwing up. I continued to take it, but after bleeding like a waterfall for a week and a half, I called my doctor. She told me that I had to finish taking it for a month or else I had the possibility of bleeding to death. So I bled the entire month. I didn't receive another period until 3 months later. Don't take this birth control."

For Birth Control "I was on it for 2 months and got extremely moody, emotional, anxious, and tired. I went to my OBGYN and asked her if I should stop it. I was told to give it more time. I am normally a bubbly, happy person, so I wasn't sure what was going on. Nevertheless, I stopped the pill because I didn't need it. After I got off it, I had the best 6 months of my life where I was happy and confident. I started dating someone and went on the pill again 5 weeks ago. I started feeling insecure, anxious, paranoid, and started believing and accusing him of not being into me and got mad at him over little things. I had heavy bleeding for 2 weeks straight, and a week before my period, I went into depression and had severe migraines. Will not take this drug ever again."

For Birth Control "DO NOT GO ON YAZ! My doctor prescribed me Yaz as I was having trouble with my skin and heavy periods. Before Yaz, I was on Levlen, which I highly recommend. After taking Yaz for one month, I got side effects such as fainting, always dizzy, lots of discharge, breakthrough bleeding, and my skin looks horrible. I read the reviews on this website and thought I’d try it, what’s the worst that can happen? Please don’t try Yaz, it's horrific. It’s made me go off birth control altogether."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Yaz for almost 2 months, and I hate it. I have heightened smell. I’ve actually thrown up due to it. I’m noticing my mood swings are going from 0-10 really quick, my poor boyfriend has also noticed. I’ve broken out so badly with acne, and I’ve also been spotting now for almost 2 weeks, now becoming heavier bleeding and cramps. Going to switch pills as I feel disgusting and can’t even be intimate with my dang birth control, so Yaz has been a huge waste of time for this girl."

"Just finishing the 2nd pack. I have never taken birth control before. I wanted to try it because I have super, super heavy, painful, long periods. The first month, I had breakthrough bleeding, then it stopped. I have a much better mood now, skin is clearing up. It also helps with cramps, bloating, and much more. Hopefully, it will continue to be a great thing, only time will tell."

For Acne "I've always had bad anxiety about new medications and scared myself quite a bit reading reviews when I first started taking this for PCOS. Luckily, the only main symptoms of PCOS I had before were irregular bleeding/spotting and some acne. The first month wasn't horrible but wasn't great, my period lasted almost 2 weeks, I had some breast tenderness and some bad (but manageable) cramping. However, after taking it for about 5 months now, I can say it has dramatically improved my situation. I was nervous about gaining weight, but I am a fit, healthy person who works out, so I actually ended up losing a few lbs. The best thing is that for the first time in my life, I have a regular period, with minimal cramping and a lighter flow. The only negatives are that if you don't take it at the same time or skip a pill, you will immediately get breakthrough bleeding that can last for quite some time, and also my depression/anxiety has gotten a bit worse, although I can't say for sure the Yaz has caused it."

For Birth Control "I switched to Yaz after having breakthrough bleeding on Seasonale for two years. I loved it at first. Shorter periods and PMDD relief. Some months I didn't even realize my period was coming/starting, I was so free of symptoms. A little over two years on it, though, I slowly started getting mood swings back. I sometimes cry for days at a time with absolutely no reason at all. I have had symptoms of depression, which is completely out of character for me, and overall, I just don't feel like myself anymore. My doctor switched me to Loestrin Fe, which I start tomorrow, so hopefully that takes care of it!"

For Birth Control "I started Yaz a few months ago after I had terrible effects from Blisovi, and I am beyond pleased with this birth control. Works well as a contraceptive, but that’s not all. I had HORRIBLE cramps, long periods, and excessive bleeding before starting Yaz. It’s been a couple of months now, and I’ve never felt better. I haven’t had any cramping whatsoever, my periods have gotten so short that they last one to two days (it typically lasted 3-4 days before Yaz), and the bleeding is light and basically just spotting. I also haven’t had any bad side effects like I had on Blisovi: no more mood swings, month-long cramping, not as depressed, no more nausea during and before periods. This pill has completely changed my periods, and it no longer feels like the nightmare it was lol. Would definitely recommend Yaz :)"

For Birth Control "I've been using Yaz since July. First box, I have tons of side effects. I had nausea, I was feeling very weak, I was fatigued and super sleepy all the time. After two weeks, nausea was gone. I had irregular bleeding, which was gone in the third box. I gained 2 kg, but I am not sure it's really related to Yaz. However, since the first day, I am definitely in a depression. I tend to cry without a reason a lot. I am super anxious about very little things. I definitely overreact emotionally. I am feeling hopeless and so on. After I am sure this depression, which came with Yaz, is not going away, my doctor gave me another one, which I will start soon."

For Birth Control "I originally got on the pill to treat acne and went through two other types of birth control pills before changing to Yaz. With both of the other pills, I had constant breakthrough bleeding throughout the month. I stopped taking the first pill after a month, then tried Seasonale. My doctor told me to stay on it for a while and see if the bleeding went away, so I took it for a year, but was still having problems. I was beginning to think I wouldn't be able to take any birth control pills when I decided to try Yaz. Yaz cleared up my acne, stopped my cramps, and made my period much shorter and much lighter. Overall, taking Yaz was a wonderful experience for me. I stopped taking it about two years ago but restarted today, and I'm looking forward to the benefits."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz since June of this year, and at first, it was okay, but now I can't stand it. I'm always tired, and I'm not in the mood to do anything. I'm 18 and just started college and met a guy who I'm crazy about, but the bad thing is he has to put up with me being tired and moody all the time. Another thing about being on Yaz is that I never know when I'm going to get my period, and even between periods, I have quite a bit of bleeding. I called my doctor today, and she said she would call in a new prescription for me to try, so let's hope it helps! I wasn't sure if it was stress from my college courses that were causing me trouble, but then I started reading other people's experiences on Yaz, and they have been going through the same thing."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yaz for about three years. The first two years, I took the pill for moderate acne. It worked great for my skin (which I cleanse religiously with Dermalogica now... if anyone wants a good skin care wash, that's it), and it did not seem to affect my weight. I'm on the thin side for my tall frame, so a little weight would have been welcome. This last year is when I actually started using the pill as a form of contraception. It has worked very well for me, as in I'm not pregnant, but I have breakthrough bleeding constantly. My doctor decided to switch my birth control. It is a great pill with minor side effects (headaches, spotting, breakthrough bleeding, acne flare-ups between packs). The pill works differently for everyone."

For Birth Control "I took Yaz after I had my son. I was on it for 2 years and had no problems. I stopped taking it so I could get pregnant. After my daughter was born, I decided to go back on Yaz since I had no problems before. I just recently started the pills, I am starting the 3rd week, and I have had breakthrough bleeding for 1 and 1/2 weeks straight now. I am so fed up with it. The whole reason I went back on the pills was to keep my bleeding regulated. So, I am thinking about switching to Loestrin24 Fe. I am going to give Yaz until the end of the pack, and if the breakthrough bleeding doesn't stop, then I am switching."

For Acne "I urge you not to take this pill. I took it to help alleviate my acne. Immediately, I started having side effects, including insomnia, frequent crying, and breakthrough bleeding. About 3 weeks in, I started having panic attacks and severe anxiety. I went off the pill after only 3 weeks. Now, it has been a month, and I am still experiencing the heightened anxiety and panic attacks that I did before. I’m hoping that I will eventually be the person I was before this pill. I would never, ever go on this pill again, and I wish I could stop myself from ever taking it."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for 3 weeks to bring my hirsutism under control. While on this pill, I constantly bled, had acne (I never get acne), and my migraines were the worst I’ve ever had them, and I’m a chronic migraine sufferer - it came back all day, every day for 5 days. I ended up just getting off them!"
