For Birth Control "It did its job by not getting me pregnant, however, I gained a lot of weight. I also had terrible mood swings. One time I cried for two hours and couldn't stop. I was on Yaz for about 6 months, and I still had terrible mood swings, so I switched to Loestrin and have been very happy so far."

For Birth Control "This was my first pill I have ever tried, and it was by far the worst one. Depression is a silent killer, no sex drive, tired, weight gain. It was not healthy for me, when I quit it, I felt much better and became myself again, not worth it."

For Birth Control "So I was on Microgynon for about 4 years. At first, it was totally fine, then somehow I had put on nearly 3 stone, lost who I was, depressed and anxious. So I came off the pill for an operation and stayed off, had a pregnancy scare, and don’t feel comfortable with other contraceptives that stop your period due to my PCOS. My mom was on Yasmin for 20+ years and was fine with it. I asked years ago, but they wouldn’t give it to me because it’s usually for those who have acne, but I explained my Microgynon experience, and the 3rd doctor I asked finally gave it to me. The first 3 months were difficult, I got small acne on patches of my face (never had acne EVER, even during my teen years) and felt sick often. On my 4th pack, acne disappears, no weight gain or difference in moods (might cry a bit more easily but I am taking a hormone). For now, I’m happy, and I’m monitoring my weight and moods, honestly, I’d try whatever pill your family has taken at least once because it could end up working better for you!"

For Acne "After suffering from horrible cystic acne for a year, I decided to go on Yasmin to clear my skin. Within the first 2-3 months, there was no effect on my acne, in fact, I thought it was getting worse. I considered going off the pill then and there, but decided to wait until after the 3-month mark to see if there were any improvements. I wish I hadn't. My skin completely cleared, however, I've been experiencing extreme sadness, irritability, and weight gain. I have been on Yasmin for about 5 months now and have gained just over 8 kg. I am a very slim frame and have never in my life gained more than a kg or so. I also cry most days and feel very pessimistic about my life. I wish I had never tried Yasmin. I can't wait to feel like myself again."

For Birth Control "So in March, I got infected by coronavirus and had side effects after recovery. One side effect or after effect of COVID was irregular periods. My gynac recommended Primolut N for about 5 days to kick start my periods, but it didn’t really help. So I started taking Yasmin on suggestion by my doctor, and let me tell you what this pill does. It’s just so awful, it made me gain some weight, gave me acne, made me constipated, and I was nothing but a walking catastrophe. Got severe anxiety, and I cry CONSTANTLY. I’ve never felt so unstable in my entire life. Going off it in 2 days, really hope this pill has worked and that I don’t have to take it anymore, cause if I continue taking this pill, I’ll have to go live alone as my family will not be able to tolerate me anymore."

For Birth Control "I used Yasmin for 4 months when I decided to stop due to the side effects. I had terrible mood swings, headaches, and I was always bloated. I gained some weight as well, but most importantly, it ruined my skin completely. I had huge and painful pimples on my chin and jaw area that were never healing. I noticed that during the 7 days break, I would not get new breakouts, so eventually, I decided to quit the pill. A few weeks after stopping the pill, I felt a huge difference. My weight is back to normal, no headaches, no mood swings. My skin cleared in just one month, and I have no breakouts now, but the damage to my skin was so big that I'm still struggling to heal the scars left. I felt from the beginning that something was not right and went back to the doctor to ask for advice, but they told me to wait a few more months for the pill to work. I waited 2 more months. However, I just felt it was getting worse and worse and decided to listen to my body and quit... And I'm very happy I did so."

For Birth Control "Yasmin is my third contraception pill, and I was on the combined, then the mini, and now back to the combined. It has made my periods regular; however, I will have days when I’m nauseous, just all over tired, and have a bad belly ache and go to the toilet. It’s made me gain weight. The pros are that it’s stopped pregnancy, and I’m protected using this contraception, so far, so good with the pregnancy thing. But as this is my third pill, the pain of periods on all of the pills didn’t help one bit, and none seem to agree with me as well as Yasmin has, but I might have to change it due to the side effects it’s giving me. So overall, it isn’t that good."

For Birth Control "I really like Yasmin. I have been using it for nine months, and it has been great. It has been great for cramps, and I have only experienced slight weight gain (due to increased cravings). The only side effect I had was nausea. I experienced nausea when I took the pill and did not have food in my stomach. If I ate before taking it, it was great! Overall, I have had a great experience with Yasmin."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yasmin for about 3 years. For the first year, there was little to no weight gain. Second year, I found my appetite was never satisfied with whatever I ate. I could just keep eating and eating if it tasted good. Not sure if that was my fault or if it was the pill. Now, as for year three, experiencing severe depression. I cry for no reason, and it will be all day, and I can't stop. I have started spotting and almost getting a full-on period the week before my period. I gave it a 7 because it has been pretty good to me other than these things, to be able to stay on it for 3 years, but I think if you're on it for too long, it can have some bad side effects. It was awesome for the first year or so."

For Acne "My pharmacist made a mistake, gave me Yasmin instead of the Yaz that I have been taking for years. The label and the printout said Yaz, but the blister pack was Yasmin. I know they are very similar because they have the same type of hormone but in different amounts, and the label said Yaz. I didn’t notice that I had been taking the wrong pill for 2 weeks! My eyes have been insanely dry and irritated, been bloated, gained 2 pounds. And now I have tiny little bumps all over my chest and back. I have never had body acne my entire life! And I think it’s spreading to my face. I’m getting married next month, and I’m freaking out! They just acted like it was no big deal. Ugh! I know everyone’s experience is different. I had no real issues with Yaz except feeling anxious, but that could have been for a lot of other reasons. I’ve always maintained the same weight and had flawless skin until I was switched to this."

For Birth Control "I was put on Yasmin for 6 months to regulate my cycle and reduce acne flare-ups, and it was the worst 6 months of my life. I gained 20 lbs that did NOT come off easily after stopping the pill, experienced horrible mood swings, had HEAVIER periods, acne breakouts, breakthrough bleeding, and I was nauseous all the time. This pill seems to agree with most people, but it definitely did not agree with me. I went on Femcon a year after stopping Yasmin and experienced virtually no side effects."

For Acne "I have been on Yasmin for 6-7 months now. I was on Sprintec before (the generic of Otho Cyclen), but I switched over because I thought Yasmin would be better at not causing weight gain. I definitely haven't noticed much weight gain, and everything has been great except for my acne. I have never really had bad acne before going on this pill. Yasmin caused cystic acne all over my cheeks, chin, and along my mouth/jawline. I remember reading that acne in these areas is always due to your hormones. I skipped my period for the past 1-2 months, so I decided to take off and go on the placebo week. Now that it's my 4th day off of it, my acne has gone down significantly and is even starting to fade. I'm seriously thinking of stopping this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been using Yasmin for around 2.5 years now. Originally, I loved it! I wasn't really noticing many side effects. It has kept me from becoming pregnant, so it worked. But in the last year, though, things have changed. My mental health has spiraled, I cry all the time and generally feel depressed. Only now, looking back, do I see that I actually did slowly start to change when I went on the pill. I did gain weight, not at a fast pace, but I feel it is noticeable. I have horrible cramps and also the worst migraines that would leave me crying and wearing sunglasses in my house so the light wouldn't irritate me. I thought it was just stress, but I've been stressed before the pill and never felt this way. I would cautiously recommend this pill. It did its main job in stopping me from becoming pregnant, but it just isn't the right form of contraception for me anymore."

For Birth Control "Was fine for the first month, but started to notice my anxiety was worse, boobs grew (not completely a bad thing), gained about 10 lbs, no sex drive, and felt ill and awful about myself all the time. Do not recommend Yasmin for younger girls, especially in their late teens/early 20s. Have not felt like myself since, have found it’s made me more stressed and anxious 24/7. Took my last pill Saturday and am not taking the next pack, not worth all the side effects."

For Birth Control "I've recently come off Yasmin due to reading about the increased risk of blood clots. However, I was on it for a number of years and had an OK experience with it. The positives were I had no headaches (I had excruciating migraines with Marvelon), and my skin was perfect - only the occasional spot before my period, similar to what it was like on Diannette. However, the bad side effects for me were weight gain, I put on roughly half a stone, which no matter what I couldn't shift, and I was tired all the time. I also had zero sex drive. I'd recommend trying Yasmin if you're concerned about acne, and particularly if you're looking to come off Diannette. However, as I say, it's not perfect, and everyone reacts differently."

For Birth Control "I was on this for PCOS and to regulate periods. Really bad experience on Yasmin, had really bad side effects such as extreme mood swings/changes, depression (generally just not feeling like my usual self at all), breast tenderness and swelling, nausea, abnormal appetite (major cravings that are not usual for me), and weight gain. The one week I stopped taking Yasmin, I lost weight, my appetite decreased a lot, my mood was back to normal, I didn’t cry all the time or feel depressed. I would not recommend Yasmin, whilst it has helped my skin, it has caused more harm than good overall!"

For Birth Control "It's my first time trying Yasmin. I recently got my IUD removed after 3 years because of all the wide array of horrible side effects that I experienced (cystic pimples, vision problems, 20 lb weight gain). The first week on Yasmin, my libido increased, and my face wasn't as oily as it was on IUD. Into the second week, my face is slowly clearing up, but my libido definitely plummeted. Also, I started to notice mood changes. I usually work out 4-5 days a week, but the second week into Yasmin, I felt exhausted all the time, unmotivated, and flat out depressed. Going into my 3rd week, I started to experience shortness of breath, dry eyes, tightness around the chest, and anxiety. I woke up one night unable to breathe, and I was flush pale. I will be discontinuing this medication from today. I also have to see my family physician for a check-up. Ladies, I understand you want to be free of acne, but the side effects on this one are not worth it."

For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for about 5 years, had no serious problems with it, and it worked great as a form of birth control. I gained weight, but not sure if the pill is to blame. I had irritable mood swings, but nothing too bad. The one biggest side effect for me that made me switch was the migraines I was getting while taking the placebos. Each and every month, I would have migraines while on my period. But other than that, I love this pill, my periods were always on time, I had short 3-4 day periods with minimal cramping. I have just started taking Levora, which my doctor recommended taking 3 straight months and then having my period to minimize the migraines. So far, I've had breakthrough bleeding and heavy as well for about a week. I hope it gets better."

"I started taking Yasmin just over 2 years ago. It was the first kind of 'pill' I had ever been on, but prior to taking Yasmin, I had 'Implanon' (the matchstick-like implant in your arm). The Implanon was one of the worst experiences I've ever had - I was completely mental - manic depressive, anxious, irritable, and unable to control my emotions. When I got the Implanon removed, I was a completely different person. A few months later, I was given Yasmin. I did notice a bit of weight gain, an increase in desire for food (even when not actually hungry), and became a bit of an emotional softy (in a nice way), but on the plus side, my skin became crystal clear, and my periods are regular and not heavy, and no 'bad' side effects. I recommend it!"

For Birth Control "This pill ruined my life a few years ago, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it. It was a nightmare from the beginning. I threw up constantly (while still gaining a ridiculous amount of weight very quickly). I went from having clear, clean skin to it looking like I had a disease. It took over a year after stopping the pill for my face to clear up. I became paranoid and depressed while having violent and unpredictable mood swings. I cried every single day. I eventually had to drop out of school because I couldn't control my moods. Horrible pill pushed by a horrible doctor."

For Birth Control "21-year-old female. Took Yasmin for 3 months. Gradually got short of breath with seemingly no logical cause. I thought it was maybe COVID? No. Maybe weight gain? No. Maybe asthma? No. Eventually, I realized something wasn’t right as everyday tasks grew harder and harder to do. At the worst part, I was out of breath after just walking from my bed to my desk. There was a dull burning feeling in my chest, like someone filled the bottom of my lungs with hot coals and singed every time I inhaled. A friend convinced me to go to the ER finally. I had multiple pulmonary embolisms from this medication. I had to take blood thinners for 3 months, and here I am nearly 2 years later still battling with rehabilitating myself into being healthy and active. The PE took my strength and nearly my life. If you plan on taking this med, please discuss the risks and side effects with your doctor. Know the signs of deep vein thrombosis and PEs. And most importantly, get checked out if something feels off."

For Acne "I swapped my pill to Yasmin to clear up my acne. I noticed that after about 5 months of taking it, my skin was definitely a lot clearer, so it works really well with this. However, I also started to notice weight gain when I went for my pill reviews. My weight had always been a steady weight, and the only thing that had changed in my life was taking this new pill (Yasmin). I have now been swapped back to Rigevidon, and after again about 5 months, my weight has dropped by 5kg. Yasmin works 100% for spots, but it wasn't for me due to the weight gain."

For Acne "Only positive: I have PCOS, and this pill cleared my acne up nicely. This pill made me feel like an absolute raging psycho. I am angry, irritable, depressed, tired, and just absolutely so miserable on this pill. I've also gained about 15 pounds (lots in my stomach) in the last 7 months since I started it and have developed melasma. I've been on numerous birth control pills, and this is THE WORST. Changing pills ASAP. I'm tired of feeling this awful. Hope your experience is better if you're reading this."

For Acne "I am on my third week of the Yasmin pill, and my skin has gotten progressively worse than it ever has been before. I feel as though I have put on weight, and I am also constantly bloated. I'm hoping that this is normal due to my hormones trying to rebalance, but I am afraid of staying on a pill that is actually worse for me."

For Birth Control "It’s disgusting that this pill is allowed to be given to girls. The side effects are a list as long as your arm, and half of them aren’t even on the leaflet. I have felt like I have been losing my mind. I genuinely have been worrying about being sectioned because of the insane mood swings, fits of rage, depression, anxiety, all destroying my relationships. Hair loss - my hair is almost gone, so brittle and so thin, and comes out by the shedloads in the shower. Also, brittle nails - they’ve just been snapping off completely, so I’ve had to wear plasters because it hurts so much. Had a blood test to see if I’m deficient in anything, but of course I’m not. Confusion and grogginess - my work life has taken a massive hit because I’ve felt so dopey, forgetful, and tired. Weight gain - a ridiculous amount. Sex drive - completely gone. This is the worst pill I’ve ever been on. Yes, your skin gets quite clear, but this is NOT worth ruining your life for!!"
