For Birth Control "I was diagnosed with PCOS in January 2018. My doctor prescribed Yasmin 28 to take for 1 year. I started the pill in February 2018. During the first week, I experienced dry mouth and loss of appetite. However, that passed. During the week of my scheduled period, I experienced heavy to severe bleeding for the first 4 days of my period. Another side effect that I felt was vaginal itching and discharge. However, I started taking probiotic pills daily and that subsided immediately. Between the months of February and up to this present moment, I have felt depressed and anxious. I don't think Yasmin 28 is worth it, especially based on how it's been making me feel. I officially stopped taking Yasmin 28 4 days ago. I hope my depressed and anxious moods will improve."

For Birth Control "This pill helped my PCOS, caused me to gain 8 kg, and my boobs are way larger. I’m really bloated a lot of the time when I eat any kind of fast food. The first few months on this pill, I was quite emotional and bled constantly, but this stopped after about 3 months, and I felt better. I got depressed when I stopped taking a pill for a break (which was advised by my doctor). But it made me so sad and anxious. I would cry every day and think that my boyfriend was cheating on me. I take a pill break to allow a break from the hormones, which stops them from building up in my body, and I feel way better. I started working out a lot to help my mood swings and anxiety, which helped with mood. The pill helped my skin a tiny bit (I am also on oxytetracycline now, which has helped so much in combination with the pill). If you take this pill, you need to be working out a lot and eating really healthy, just looking after yourself in general in order to minimize the negative effects. It is a good pill compared to others."

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for about 8 months (changed from Microgynon), and I've had a mixed experience. Periods are much lighter and less painful than ever before, which is much better! However, have found if I take pill packets back to back, I always get breakthrough bleeding, which I haven't had with previous pills. Boobs have become more sensitive and got bigger, which I don't mind! But it's also meant I've put on almost a stone in 4 months without my lifestyle changing (I eat healthily, exercise regularly, have always had a good metabolism). Which has been really awful for my self-esteem. This pill has given me high anxiety, made me feel depressed all the time. Really wouldn't recommend this pill."

For Acne "I was on Yasmin for around a year and had no problems with it. It was great, and then I started to get breakthrough bleeding, so my doctor switched me to Diane, which was terrible! I think it was too strong for me because it made me break out like crazy. I didn't have acne to begin with. I then had a break from the pill (skin cleared up completely from almost the 2nd day of stopping the pill) for about 6 months or so and now have gone back on Yasmin, and my skin has been breaking out like crazy! Lots of small whiteheads on the left side of my face and some in a little section on my right cheek. They're small, but coming up every single day. I'm in the 4th month now, and it hasn't cleared up yet. Help!! :'("

For Menstrual Disorders "I was prescribed Yasmin for my extremely painful periods and adult acne. I can honestly say that in terms of my period, Yasmin has been life-changing. Before, I was crippled and taking a combination of 50 pain relief tablets over a 5-day period, waking up in the night in pain and also struggling to work. Now I have basically no period pain at all and have to take zero pain relief medication... such a difference! My period was always pretty light, but now it’s almost nothing! The first month I had lots of breakthrough bleeding, but now nothing. In terms of my skin, I can definitely see a big improvement. It’s working much slower for this, however (I’ve been on it 3 months). Otherwise, no real side effects - my mood is good and no weight loss or gain."

For Birth Control "Worst thing I ever did to my body. First month went by fine, break was fine. Started second pack and in two days experienced painful cramps and light bright red bleeding. Three days later I was bleeding huge amounts, like postpartum bleeding, and bright red. This did not stop. I lived on six ibuprofen a day. The ibuprofen burnt through my stomach and caused a huge IBS flare. After two weeks of intense pain and very heavy bleeding, I stopped the pill. Within four days, I had stopped bleeding completely. This was four weeks ago. Stomach only just recovering, but have been feeling deep aching pains ever since, I think like ovulation pain. Today it ramped up. Hopefully, I’m just ovulating, but I will never take a pill again."

For Birth Control "I am 18 years old and started Yasmin when I was 17. I had side effects such as nausea, abdominal pain, irregular bleeding only the first month of the pill. I’ve been on it for about 10 months now, and I feel fine. My periods are much lighter, but unfortunately, my PMS symptoms are the same as before, so I can’t say that this pill has stopped them. Overall, I am happy with it and haven’t had any abnormal problems."

For Birth Control "This birth control has got me all messed up. Literally. I was prescribed Yasmin when I had breakthrough bleeding with Freya. I was on Yasmin for a little over a year, and during that time, I started to question all of my relationships. I cried every day. My hair was falling out and breaking. I felt crazy. My anxiety was through the roof, I didn't sleep and rarely ate, especially because my self-esteem became so slow. Now, after stopping Yasmin, it has messed up my fertility. I had normal periods and a normal cycle before going on the pill. Altogether, I was on birth control for 2 years. Now, I get a period every 2 and a half months, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. They vary too, sometimes I'll only spot for a few days, and another time I'll bleed for the whole 7. I have been off Yasmin for over a year now, and I'm at a loss on what to do. No one will give me solutions except to go back on birth control or start fertility drugs. When did the only solution go to taking drugs?? Be warned."

For Acne "Very glad I found this pill! I had been struggling with hormonal cystic acne on my chin ever since being a teenager (now 22). It was minor but affected my confidence and would make it painful to smile. Also, it was never fun waiting for it to inevitably come around every month. Eating healthy, expensive skincare, and cutting out sugar helped but didn't stop it. I thought it was something I'd have to live with for the rest of my life until this pill. I'm now 3 months in on Yasmin, and my skin has never looked clearer or felt cleaner. I was worried from reading the reviews that it might get worse for people with minor acne, but my skin is glowing! Also, I have experienced no mood effects or weight gain either. For honesty, one drawback however is that the pill has caused a tiny cervical ectopy, which means that I have experienced bleeding after sex. However, this hasn't been painful, and the doctor has informed me it should go away. However, Yasmin has been 10/10 besides that."

For Birth Control "I couldn't be on this medication for more than a month because I bled, had diarrhea, and vomiting NON-STOP from the moment I started it till I finally stopped taking it. I had never been so sick in my life to the point I'm scared to try other hormonal birth control again, regardless of what format it is in. I don't want to scare anyone too badly, but remember this drug has been recalled several times for causing blood clots and causing death in many young women, causing Bayer millions of dollars in lawsuits (Yasmin and Yaz). If you want hormonal BC, I'd go with another form of progestin like Levonorgestrel or something and NOT drospirenone. I know that having reliable birth control is important, but so is your health, well-being, and your life!"

For Acne "I went on this pill for birth control and to minimize acne. Keep in mind that prior to this, I had moderate breakouts once in a while. Going on this pill was the worst experience of my life, I had constant bleeding (3/3.5 out of 4 weeks of the month), and I developed horrible cystic acne. My mood was also terrible, but I'll blame that on the constant bleeding and my horrendous acne. I will say that I did not gain any weight."
