For Birth Control "I have never wanted to go back in time more so than I do now. Been on Yasmin for 8/9 years, and my hair has thinned immensely while being on it. I have now decided to stop because the side effects far outweigh the benefits. It is probably the worst thing anyone can put in their body. One month off the pill, and the hair loss has begun when it thinned my hair to begin with. Acne has begun when I never had it before. Mood swings, it caused depression, anxiety, and a slew of other harmful effects."

For Birth Control "It's my first time trying Yasmin. I recently got my IUD removed after 3 years because of all the wide array of horrible side effects that I experienced (cystic pimples, vision problems, 20 lb weight gain). The first week on Yasmin, my libido increased, and my face wasn't as oily as it was on IUD. Into the second week, my face is slowly clearing up, but my libido definitely plummeted. Also, I started to notice mood changes. I usually work out 4-5 days a week, but the second week into Yasmin, I felt exhausted all the time, unmotivated, and flat out depressed. Going into my 3rd week, I started to experience shortness of breath, dry eyes, tightness around the chest, and anxiety. I woke up one night unable to breathe, and I was flush pale. I will be discontinuing this medication from today. I also have to see my family physician for a check-up. Ladies, I understand you want to be free of acne, but the side effects on this one are not worth it."

For Birth Control "I started this pill about 2 years ago, and it did clear up my face, however, I began seeing symptoms of depression and anxiety, like everyone else is mentioning. I already had these problems before starting the pill, therefore, it’s only heightened it to the point of sometimes feeling really depressed. I couldn’t figure out why I was feeling this way and didn’t think it could be the pill since I struggled with it in the past. However, I’ve decided to stop taking it because it has to be the cause of these feelings. Everyone’s body is different-just listen to yours."

For Birth Control "I am so glad I found this! I felt so alone and that it was me just feeling this way for no reason. My poor husband didn’t know what was going on with me, and I didn’t either. Last night, I wanted to take my own life for no reason. I love my life and obviously have some issues, but nothing major to make me ever think of doing that… Very bad anxiety, angry all the time over everything, felt out of control. I didn’t want to be angry, sad, or anything because my life is completely fine. Please reconsider taking this type. And I’m sorry to anyone that felt the same way. It is not your fault that you felt the way you did."

For Birth Control "You guys are all freaking me out. I’ve been on Yasmin for 15 years!! I decided to go off it to see if my melasma would go away. But those 15 years were great. Good skin, no issues, or so I thought, none that were related to my birth control. Now you’re telling me it causes anxiety, depression, and even eczema! I suffered from this, not knowing it could have something to do with my birth control. Now I’ve been off it for 3 months, and my skin is an acne nightmare. My hair lady told me my texture was totally different (thinner) and that I had hair loss at my hairline. Hair is greasy, and I’m totally depressed! Not to mention I have no health insurance, so I hope everything is okay internally with blood clots and stuff! I’m freaking out. I thought I liked Yasmin, but if this is what I get for being on it so long, I’m scared."

For Birth Control "I was diagnosed with PCOS in January 2018. My doctor prescribed Yasmin 28 to take for 1 year. I started the pill in February 2018. During the first week, I experienced dry mouth and loss of appetite. However, that passed. During the week of my scheduled period, I experienced heavy to severe bleeding for the first 4 days of my period. Another side effect that I felt was vaginal itching and discharge. However, I started taking probiotic pills daily and that subsided immediately. Between the months of February and up to this present moment, I have felt depressed and anxious. I don't think Yasmin 28 is worth it, especially based on how it's been making me feel. I officially stopped taking Yasmin 28 4 days ago. I hope my depressed and anxious moods will improve."

For Birth Control "It's the first time writing in a forum, but I can't be in silence now! I was on these tablets for six months. I didn't realize that panic attacks, dizziness, anxiety, and tears for little things were because of BC pills! My skin was brilliant, really! But it wasn't worth it - weakness and numbness of legs, arms, coordination problems, decreased libido, problems with digestion, emotional instability, depression! Be careful!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmin for 4 months. My periods have gotten way better (no more pain, really), but I can't stress the ill effects enough. Plain and simple, taking this pill, my emotional well-being went downhill. I'm angry, I cry daily, I started really not liking myself. I even started getting way too many self-harm thoughts, which has never happened before. I am literally the worst version of myself on this pill. My heart is always beating quickly, I feel like I'm on edge. I'm shocked it's even on the market. Please do not risk it, find something better."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Only been on it for a week and can already feel anxiety creeping up. Bad headaches and struggling to fall asleep every night. Has anyone suffered from insomnia from this pill? Read all the reviews and I am completely horrified. I am stopping this pill ASAP. Oh, and it’s a rip-off: 80 bucks for insomnia and anxiety?"

For Birth Control "It was terrible. I took it years ago when it first came out. Yasmin 28, I think. My mood was down, I had an upset stomach all the time. I couldn't handle dairy or fats. I always felt anxious. I told my gyno, he shrugged it off as normal. Then the tipping point was when I was on the bus, and I started feeling lightheaded and then lost my vision. A friend helped me off the bus where I had to sit and breathe in the cool fall air in order to regain my composure, and slowly my vision came back. I stopped the pill immediately after that. My period only came back 3 months later, and it took years before it was on track again. I went online, and many women had the same issues and had trouble starting a family after stopping the pill. Dangerous stuff."

For Birth Control "It’s disgusting that this pill is allowed to be given to girls. The side effects are a list as long as your arm, and half of them aren’t even on the leaflet. I have felt like I have been losing my mind. I genuinely have been worrying about being sectioned because of the insane mood swings, fits of rage, depression, anxiety, all destroying my relationships. Hair loss - my hair is almost gone, so brittle and so thin, and comes out by the shedloads in the shower. Also, brittle nails - they’ve just been snapping off completely, so I’ve had to wear plasters because it hurts so much. Had a blood test to see if I’m deficient in anything, but of course I’m not. Confusion and grogginess - my work life has taken a massive hit because I’ve felt so dopey, forgetful, and tired. Weight gain - a ridiculous amount. Sex drive - completely gone. This is the worst pill I’ve ever been on. Yes, your skin gets quite clear, but this is NOT worth ruining your life for!!"

For Birth Control "I was on Cerazette (Pop Pill), and I loved it, but my doctor changed me to Yazmin, as she said my spotting and irregular periods were due to a lack of estrogen. She said to take it for 3-6 months to regulate it again. I was only on Yazmin 6 weeks, and it had ruined me. I often suffered with my mental health, and I presumed it was bad until I started this pill. All I have done is cry and snap at my boyfriend and family. I have no sex drive and no desire to have sex, which is not like me, my anxiety is through the roof, and I've never been so depressed. I've been removed from it already. My migraines are back. They went while I was on Cerazette, but I can honestly say that I thought I knew depression until now. Constant intrusive and dark thoughts and a lack of motivation. I'm only 23... I shouldn't be this miserable. Do not take this pill!!! It is horrible."

For Birth Control "Felt absolutely horrible while taking this pill. I lost my will to do absolutely anything and experienced severe anxiety. I couldn’t enjoy any kind of activity, and I did everything like a task. I even took antidepressants and started doing therapy, and now I finally decided to stop the pill and hope to bounce back to myself quickly. So please stay safe, everyone, and be careful with this pill."

For Birth Control "This pill helped my PCOS, caused me to gain 8 kg, and my boobs are way larger. I’m really bloated a lot of the time when I eat any kind of fast food. The first few months on this pill, I was quite emotional and bled constantly, but this stopped after about 3 months, and I felt better. I got depressed when I stopped taking a pill for a break (which was advised by my doctor). But it made me so sad and anxious. I would cry every day and think that my boyfriend was cheating on me. I take a pill break to allow a break from the hormones, which stops them from building up in my body, and I feel way better. I started working out a lot to help my mood swings and anxiety, which helped with mood. The pill helped my skin a tiny bit (I am also on oxytetracycline now, which has helped so much in combination with the pill). If you take this pill, you need to be working out a lot and eating really healthy, just looking after yourself in general in order to minimize the negative effects. It is a good pill compared to others."

For Birth Control "I used these Yasmin pills for about 2 months now, but IDK what happened to me. I feel that I am easily getting angry, I feel so sad and cry always without any reason, I feel that anxiety attacks me. I read all the comments, I think I get this from Yasmin :("

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for about 8 months (changed from Microgynon), and I've had a mixed experience. Periods are much lighter and less painful than ever before, which is much better! However, have found if I take pill packets back to back, I always get breakthrough bleeding, which I haven't had with previous pills. Boobs have become more sensitive and got bigger, which I don't mind! But it's also meant I've put on almost a stone in 4 months without my lifestyle changing (I eat healthily, exercise regularly, have always had a good metabolism). Which has been really awful for my self-esteem. This pill has given me high anxiety, made me feel depressed all the time. Really wouldn't recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for 6 months, and I loved it. My skin was dewy, plump, and clear, which in turn made me feel great. After 6 months, HOWEVER, I could feel my anxiety levels rising and paranoid thoughts started. I wasn’t sleeping and felt panicked all the time. I decided to come off the pill, and that’s when things got really bad. I was having severe panic attacks that were making me dissociate and become very detached from reality (making me panic further), and my paranoid thoughts became delusional! I had to start therapy and 3 months later I’ve finally stopped dissociating, but I’m still paranoid and my hormones and mental health have a long way to go till they’re back to pre-pill state. I know it's different for everyone, there are many reviews from women whose anxiety levels go through the roof and others who became suicidal. I’d say if you have any predisposition to depression or anxiety or a naturally anxious brain, avoid this pill! It just isn’t worth it."

For Birth Control "I'm 30 and on Yasmin for acne. Since being on it, I'm feeling depressed, have a low sex drive, mood swings, etc. Still have the same acne after 6 months. Quitting tomorrow, can't take the depression any longer. I was experiencing anxiety before Yasmin, but we found out the root of my issue was vitamin imbalances. Yasmin has taken me in the complete opposite direction. I'm done with it. I had been off birth control for 3 years and will never go back again."

For Birth Control "I don't normally leave reviews, but this page has helped me so much today I feel to share my experiences in the hope that it will help others, too. I started taking Yasmin 4 months ago, and everything was fine for the first 2 packs. Periods were very short and light, skin was clear, no problems at all. I'm a first-time mum, so my stress levels are always high, so when I started feeling bouts of anxiety I thought nothing of it. 2 months on, and I feel like I'm a different person, I cry every day, bouts of uncontrollable rage, lethargy, depression - the works! Stupidly, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until the weight gain began, almost 1 kg per month! Suffice to say this pill isn't for everybody!"

Also, very mindful just recently of the link between Yas and my blood clots! Never taking this killer again."

For Birth Control "I’m 18, and I was on this pill for about a year and a bit, and in the last week, I was getting extreme anxiety and panic attacks to the point I was sick, even depressed, outrageous thoughts. I didn’t know what was happening till my sister said she had problems with this exact pill after about a year, and it just made complete sense. It was almost as if my hormones had gone haywire and for no apparent reason. I suffered like this for about a week, then I decided I had to go off the pill, so I stopped taking it, but the mood issues did carry on for a bit longer, which I’m guessing was my hormones leveling out. It’s been about a week since I stopped, and I’m feeling 1000 times better already. Would never suggest this pill to anyone, it’s not worth the tears!"

For Acne "I took this pill as I suffer from oily skin and spots. The sacrifice to clear my skin destroyed my life. I was fine for the first year, then started suffering debilitating panic attacks. My intrusive thoughts and pervasive anxiety drove me to absolute distraction. As a 39-year-old woman, my sebum completely stopped, and my skin dehydrated and shriveled to a point that is not normal. Do not take this awful drug! I’m slowly recovering from Yasmin, and it’s taken 6 months for my anxiety to subside. I have absolutely no doubt that this pill caused these problems in my life. It’s not worth it. Do not take it."

For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for around 2 years, and I thought it was pretty good until I started getting recurring yeast infections. I came off it for 2 years and went with another brand. I've recently decided to go back on Yasmin again and have been having a heavy period for 3 weeks now (I've never had a period longer than 8 days). I also feel unhinged, anxious, depressed, and extremely paranoid. I've been having breakdowns where I'm screaming and crying. I feel trapped, and literally the slightest thing pushes me over the edge into another breakdown or an argument. I'm just hoping I feel better soon."
