For Birth Control "Took Ocella for 2 years. It cleared up my acne and helped a lot with period cramps. I never got pregnant and was sexually active the whole time. BUT I gained an insane amount of weight with little change to my diet or exercise. I gained about 30 pounds during that time and was super bloated with a lot of fluid retention. Looking back on photos, I can tell when I was on it by how bloated my face looked vs. when I went off. Didn't notice much change in sex drive, which is good. Probably won't use again."

For Acne "I started Ocella my freshman year of college and had horrible under-the-skin acne all through high school. I'm now a junior in college and love it! My skin cleared up except for a few during my period. I also gained a couple pounds and my boobs grew a whole cup size. Highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ocella for about 8 months now, and it's been decent, but I am looking for a new birth control. I'm 26 years old and have used several different pills before, including Alesse and Lo-ovral. I found out I am allergic to synthetic progesterone (norgestrel and alike) in virtually every birth control available, which is why I switched to Ocella. Ocella has done the job as far as preventing pregnancy, but I have had mood swings bad enough to start taking Wellbutrin, I've gained some weight, and my sex drive is terrible. The mood changes and the huge sex drive decline are the reasons why I will be changing again. I'm also worried about all of the warnings on Yaz/Ocella/Yasmin and the high incidence of strokes associated."

For Acne "Took for acne for 14 months, very effective for my hormonal acne. It almost completely cleared it. No nausea or headaches. Side effects include weight gain of about 6 to 8 lbs in 1 year. Slightly larger breast in the first 2 or 3 months only. However, at the end of the 13th month, I had some symptoms that led me to be diagnosed with gallstones. I read that taking birth control pills does increase the risk, so I just stopped. The dermatologist gave Spironolactone, but within two weeks, I had some skin rashes, which may be a side effect. Hope to lose the weight gain and stop the gallstones from getting worse."

For Birth Control "20 yr old, been on Ocella for over a year. Just today switched to Apri, Ocella made me gain weight and go up a bra size. I went from a heavy, long period with no pain to an extremely painful, short period - not worth it. This pill also made me moody and depressed."

For Birth Control "Ocella is a good birth control medication. For the four months I've been taking it, my only complaint is the multiple periods of breakthrough bleeding, bloating, and nausea. I'm sure weight gain would be on my complaint list, but you just have to maintain a really good diet and exercise whenever you can. But it's great."

For Birth Control "I have been on Ocella for a few months now. Overall, the experience has been good. I am experiencing more cramps and an upset stomach than my previous BC. Although that is not fun to experience, I have no complaints about mood swings, weight gain, or depression. Overall, I am pleased with the medication."

For Birth Control "I went on this medication when I was 19, and I am 24 now. When I was 19, I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. I now take continuous birth control pills (never going off the active ones). My insurance covers me to get 2 packets a month. Being on only active pills, I usually have spotting once or twice a year due to missing a pill or taking it more than 12 hours late. Side effects: big breasts and weight gain. I used to be a size B, now I'm a D/DD. Awesome! I have put on 20 pounds over the years, but that could be caused by my diet/age."

"I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen low for two years before switching to Ocella. I used to throw up and break out constantly, so I switched to Ocella. So far, I love it. I haven't had nausea, spotting, headaches, mood swings, or heavy periods! Unfortunately, I definitely have gained weight, but nothing unmanageable. I had moderately severe acne, and it has been clearing up slowly but surely, which is a huge deal for me since I'm a senior in high school. My sex drive has gone way down."

For Birth Control "I started this method about 8 months ago. I hate it. No change in acne, but weight gain, headaches, horrible heavy crampy periods, intense mood swings. I'm switching soon. On the good side: I'm not pregnant, so yay there, and I know exactly when Hell Week (last 7 days always) starts and ends."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I have tried practically every treatment there is for PCOS, and unfortunately, Yasmin is the only thing that has helped me. But, it puts about 7-12 pounds on me."

For Birth Control "This is my first month taking it, and I have gained weight. I have been super moody, I keep lashing out at people, and I don't even mean to. It's making my acne worse. I have had really bad headaches."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm a lesbian, so I don't take this to prevent pregnancy, but because my periods were lasting two weeks before. Pros: my periods are regular and lighter, and my skin is completely clear. Cons: I originally gained around 15 pounds (which I have since lost), and I have no sex drive whatsoever. My breast size also increased from a D to a G, which I guess could be seen as a positive or negative. I personally find it frustrating. I am also very emotional, but I think that's just part of my personality and unrelated to the birth control."
