For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Loryna has helped my PMDD somewhat. I also have cut meat mostly and am very active and limit drinking. My issues with this are breast pain, constant bloat. I thought I had a sensitive gut before, but have issues where my pants sometimes don’t fit by the evening. I drink tons of water and limit inflammatory foods, but it still doesn’t help. I bleed randomly. Right now, I have 5 pills left before the white pills and am bleeding. I spotted for a week before that. This happens without rhyme or reason. My skin looks good, but to be honest, I take good care of it. I am sure it’s contributing, but habits are too. The headaches I get on this medication are terrifying and sometimes last three days. I felt so validated finding this forum because I thought something was really wrong. My libido is significantly lower, and it’s difficult to achieve arousal. I never had an issue with that before. The worst: my blood pressure is now elevated. I just asked my doctor about an alternate treatment."

For Birth Control "Absolutely horrible for me. I took this for over a year, and it gave me so much acne in the beginning. Horrible mood swings. This medication filled me with pure anger! Loryna COMPLETELY destroyed my sex drive the entire time I was on it. It made my skin EXTREMELY oily. I hate this medication, and I'm never taking it again."

For Birth Control "I've gained 20 pounds in the 5 months I've been on this. I cry and am depressed and find myself working extra hard to do activities that I normally love. I have never had recurring yeast infections and have to treat them once a month now. I also lost my sex drive, and I suddenly have really bad melasma. I am stopping immediately and hopefully notice some improvement soon. The plus side to this was short and light periods, but after the first 2 months, I had random spotting every month."

For Acne "I've had a great experience with Loryna, it's cleared up my acne, and I don't get a period at all on this pill. No cramps or moodiness. As a person with anxiety/depression and mood swings, Loryna has kept me feeling pretty balanced. The week before and during my period would always make my mental health take a dip, but not since I started Loryna. The only side effects I've had are lower sex drive (I've always had a low sex drive anyway) and tender breasts. Overall, big positives! I hope this helps someone out there."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm 52 with heavy, long-lasting periods. I was hoping for a lot more results. I took it for 7 months, giving it a fair try. Unfortunately, it wasn't the answer. I have bad cramps, it's heavy, blood clots still. No sex drive, fatigue, it made me crazy, and I drove my husband away. I do not recommend it."

For Acne "I had tried just about everything for acne, from topical creams to antibiotics. I had been on various different antibiotics for acne over the past four years and was ready to stop always taking antibiotics that never truly cleared my skin fully anyway. It's my second month on Yaz, and I've noticed improvement in my skin without taking the antibiotics. The first month, I had a pretty bad breakout, mood swings, bad cramping, and cravings. I noticed a sort of constant breast tenderness and swelling, but especially so nearing my period. My sex drive has also significantly decreased, and in the first month, I would actually cry for no reason at all (moodiness). The best part is that my insurance covers this completely. I pay nothing out of pocket."

For Birth Control "I will start this off by saying everyone's body is different, and I am thrilled for the people this drug worked for! However, that was not the case for me. Switched from Blisovi to Yaz and finally to Loryna due to insurance issues, and have never felt worse than I have while on Loryna. While taking this drug, I experienced depression, hypomanic episodes, crying spells throughout the day, decreased sex drive, and really just not liking the world. I know it takes a while to adjust, but after only 1 week on this pill, I have thrown my entire supply in the trash can. Take this review with a grain of salt and don't be scared to try it, but if you start experiencing PMS symptoms all day, every day, just throw them away, not worth it when there are so many other options out there. Good luck, guys."

For Birth Control "This is the second birth control pill I tried after the first gave me very bad mood swings immediately. I’ve been on this for about a year and a half now, and my periods are short and I know exactly when I am going to get it every month with no spotting in between. It has been like this since I started it. It also really helped with acne. I never got acne very bad, but I would always have a few spots. Now I very rarely break out, and when I do, it’s usually not that bad, and I barely take care of my skin. The only bad thing I’ve noticed is how it’s affected my sex drive. I had no problem with it before I started this a few months after starting my current long-term relationship, and everything was great at first, but about 6 months after being on it, I had absolutely no sex drive anymore. A year after that, it is starting to come back, but I’ve had to take measures to help myself. Overall, I like this birth control, and it hasn’t caused any problems that negatively affect my life."

For Birth Control "Pros: Very few: cheap and face was clear throughout using it. Cons: I noticed some changes in my body and mental health and wrote them down to talk to my doctor about at an upcoming appointment. I had been on Yaz for 14 years with none of these issues, but had to switch due to my insurance covering Yaz anymore and California not accepting the Bayer Savings Card. I didn't think my issues were from Loryna until I read these reviews. I had fuller breasts, was constantly bloated, gained weight with the weight specifically in my abdomen (despite no diet or exercise change), decreased aerobic fitness, decreased sex drive, and felt more 'down' and self-critical. I stopped taking it and within four days saw improvements: breast size decreased, feeling less bloated, more positive, and my sex drive increased. I ran this morning, and it was my fastest time in months. Again, I had none of these symptoms during my 14 years on Yaz. I'm so glad I stopped taking Loryna!"

For Acne "So I took Gianvi because that was recommended by my doctor. I went to the pharmacy a few times and was given Nikki (I refused it and never took it). I started taking Loryna and didn’t have any severe issues at first, but months later down the road I had severe, and I mean severe, exhaustion. Daily activities such as going to work or even cooking dinner chronically exhausted me. Exercise, besides walking, couldn’t happen for me because I was so tired I felt like I was gonna pass out at the gym. I have never felt so emotionally depleted and frustrated in my life. I’m going to the doctor soon to get off this and try something else out. I struggle with hormonal acne, so the thought of trying something else that won’t treat acne will be frustrating. I can no longer take this medication because it became debilitating for me. I completely have lost my entire sex drive, I have very frustrating headaches. My body often hurts, and I feel deeply depressed because I have no energy to work out."

"Loryna is the only BC I have been on, prescribed to manage PMDD. It's so drastic I think I may also be bipolar, lol. Personally, my body's adjustment to taking hormones every day has been the worst part of it all. I am extremely sensitive to what I put into my body, so when I started taking, my reaction was violent. For the first 3 months, I had more frequent/intense cramps, irrational emotional reactions to everything, boobs sore and swollen EVERY DAY, majorly heightened anxiety/more easily depressed. - Positive changes: actual period is so much lighter/predictable, bleeding lasts for only about 4 days, yay :) MUCH LESS ACNE - Negative lasting effects: constant pain in breasts, NO SEX DRIVE :/ constant cramping, feels like I’m always in pain. **Stopped taking Loryna because my mood swings were still SO intense I wanted to remove the factor of taking hormones every day to see if I could stabilize myself. But my period was too irregular and even more painful without BC, so I am back on it now.**"

For Birth Control "I literally could not rate this any lower. It's the first birth control pill I've taken that didn't improve my periods. I've gone back to having irregular, long periods, just like before the pill. I've also gained a significant amount of weight and had mood swings and a heavily decreased sex drive. It just didn't work for me at all."

For Birth Control "10/10 for preventing pregnancy. Made me very sad and irritated all the time. Made me bloated and had bad bowel movements. Absolutely zero sex drive. I basically had to force myself to do it, and I’m in a long-term relationship, so it wasn’t very good. I’ve been off of it for a week, and WOW. Mood 100% improved. Sex drive is ALREADY back to normal!!! I’ll just stick to condoms now for preventing pregnancy because wow, this birth control was not it."

For Birth Control "I had no initial issues with Loryna, but 6 months in I started to notice different changes with my body. My cycle was off, my mood was terrible, low libido, and my breasts were larger. Overall, I just did not feel like myself. I shared my concerns with my gyno, and she said that my body was 'adjusting.' This didn't make sense because at the time I was 36 and had been on birth control before. You adjust the first 6 months, but not after taking it for 6 months. Needless to say, I had an abnormal pap. I stopped taking Loryna immediately. 6 months later, after stopping Loryna, colposcopy and folic acid... my pap was normal again. Unfortunately, I also found a lump in my breast. LADIES, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TAKING THIS GARBAGE. It is not worth surgery, chemo, radiation, or the lifelong worry of dying from cancer."

For Birth Control "I’m 19, sexually active in college, etc. This pill does its job preventing pregnancy for sure, but as soon as my CVS switched me from Gianvi to Loryna, I have been very disappointed. It works, but my sex drive has never been lower. It’s almost as if nothing excites me, and because of this, I have been extremely depressed since my switch this past summer. The first pack I took really affected my body, and I was bloated worse than ever, but thankfully that did go away eventually. My periods haven’t really changed. Don’t know if I’d recommend because it affects people differently. The main reason I want to switch is because of my significantly decreased sex drive and depression."

For Birth Control "I have endometriosis, only hormonal acne, and Loryna is the best! I used to have extremely painful periods, but now I don't have a period at all and no acne whatsoever. I didn't notice weight gain at all or really any change in my mood. Obviously, the first 1-3 months were a bit emotional and moody, but after that, it's been great! I've been on it for about 7-8 months now, take the pill every night at bedtime, and I skip the white pills so I don't have a period. But there is one downside, I have zero sex drive. I'm 20, in a great healthy relationship, and normally have a pretty high sex drive with my partner. Now I'm bone dry all the time, and it is very rare when I get in the mood. I want to have sex, however, my body and brain just do not react or get in the mood the way they used to. One more thing to mention from my experience, my body does have to have a period every 3-4 months. I spot for a week and must stop to have a natural period. This is okay with me, but others might not like that."

For Birth Control "I feel like I am pregnant... with a girl. Horrible fatigue, terrible acne, nausea/vomiting, headaches, body aches, no energy, no sex drive, and depressed. I was fine before I started taking this pill."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I'm on day 5 of Loryna, and I am so suicidal I considered going to the hospital. I was trying it for PMDD, I did have success before on Lo Loestrin FE, but I was having side effects of melasma and low libido, so I wanted to try something else. This is awful. I've also had nightmares and nausea since starting it."
