Doxycycline for Acne "If you listen to your doctor, they tell you that while taking Doryx, your acne may get worse in the first few months. That is no reason to quit. Thankfully for me, this has not happened; in fact, Doryx cleared up my acne in about a month! I'm so happy that it did not irritate my stomach like most other antibiotics do."

For Acne "I was very self-conscious about my acne for quite a while. When people started telling me I had a lot of pimples (adults and kids), I thought, 'Okay, I switched to a whole bunch of natural regimens already, and nothing's working. It's time to go to the dermatologist.' So my parents took me there, and they prescribed me Doxycycline Hyclate. They gave me the tablet version, though, not the capsule one. So I didn't have to worry about choking on it or having an upset stomach. After a week, there was a slight difference in my skin. I still had breakouts, but they weren't that big. After a month now, people have told me that my face is clearing up, meaning it's noticeable, so the med is really working its magic. But now there's a lot of scarring."

For Bacterial Infection "10-15 minutes after taking this, I got a really bad stomach ache that caused a hot flash like I was gonna pass out. I got nauseous, then threw up for 5 minutes and dry heaved for another 5. For the rest of the day, I had a headache and felt sick to my stomach. I will never take this drug again!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Was given this doxycycline for cellulitis in my leg, (4th time I've had cellulitis in the same area). I had various side effects, i.e., headache, stomach cramps, metallic and bitter taste, (like radiotherapy!) vertigo, and it didn't get rid of the cellulitis. Had to have a further course of another antibiotic. Side effects settled down after 5 days, course was for 7 days. There was some improvement after 5 days but no cure of the condition. One can only speak as one finds."

For Acne "I just started taking this antibiotic-100 mg twice per day. The side effects are crazy intense! I took it without food, and within 20 minutes, was severely vomiting, very tired, out of it, and confused. I went to the ER, and they told me to just take it again with food. So I did, and no vomiting or stomach cramps this time, but still feel tired and kind of out of it. Hopefully, my body can get used to this."

For Acne "- You may experience an extreme initial breakout. - Extreme nausea and upset stomach if not consumed with a meal. - You may have your acne return with a vengeance in a short amount of time after stopping this medication. If no adequate results appear within 12 weeks of treatment, an alternative method should be attempted. *If you have gone through a course of antibiotics, you should consume probiotics regularly to balance your gut flora, which will affect acne in a positive way.* Natural ways to try: - Increase your fiber intake. - Take enzyme supplements if you have problems with digestion. - Regularly consume probiotics. - Pass bowel movements regularly. - Drink a minimum of 2 liters of water daily. - Test for food sensitivities. - Check hormone levels through blood work. - No popping or picking, as the pressure applied when you squeeze releases bacteria underneath the skin, and new blemishes will harvest."

For Acne "I've been using Clindamycin in the mornings and Atralin at night for nearly two months with very minimal results. I started taking Doxy about 3 days ago, and my skin has dramatically improved. No more new breakouts, just healing acne. The only reason I give it 8/10 is because I haven't finished my 30-day cycle. Haven't experienced any nausea or vomiting, just a minor stomach ache if I don't eat enough with the pill in the morning."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "My Dr. prescribed doxycycline 100 mg for 20 days, twice a day, for self-diagnosed peri-oral dermatitis. My Dr. says it’s rosacea, but either way, the doxycycline worked well. I tried EVERY cream, salve, and lotion on the market, and it did nothing. It does cause me horrible stomach upset unless I eat at the moment I swallow the pill. Usually, 2-3 pieces of toast do the trick. The treatment works within just 3 or so days, but I continue the course as directed. It does come back, though. This time, I made it 8 months between treatments, and the breakout lessens each time. I hope one day it will work for good. It flares up especially in the winter and with daily mask usage at work. Doxycycline is the only treatment that has worked so far, even though the result is somewhat temporary. I’ll take it regardless just to clear up my face!"

For Acne "I'm 15 and had pretty bad acne for about three years. My dermatologist prescribed 150 mg doxycycline hyclate to take once in the AM, also paired with 0.1% adapalene gel 2 or 3 times a week and Cetaphil gentle face cleanser every night. This has tremendously helped my acne!!!! Also, I use PanOxyl face wash (recommended by dermatologist) and a moisturizer every morning. You can buy it at Walmart or Walgreens. As for the doxycycline, I haven't had any side effects other than little stomach aches, but that's it. (I've only been using this routine for 14 days, so I don't know about what will happen, but as for now, it's pretty great :)"

For Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "Developed a pelvic infection after having an IUD inserted, prescribed doxy 100 mg 2x/day. The first 2 days were fine, extremely minor stomach upset, which went away with food. The third day, I developed bad diarrhea. The fourth day, I took it lying down on an empty stomach right before going to bed... big mistake. Within 30 min, I woke out of a dead sleep and was violently sick. Barely made it to the toilet. I am on day 3 of diarrhea. Calling my doctor to see if we can switch meds. Symptoms of my pelvic infection were a small fever (around 100) and pelvic pain, neither of which has changed at all since starting this medication."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have major cellulitis in both legs. I have been on many antibiotics, both IV and oral. This is the only medication that has shown a longer-term improvement. The swelling, redness, and open wounds are noticeably better. I take 100 mg in the A.M. and 100 mg in the P.M. I have been on doxycycline for several months. My legs have improved immensely! Do not recline or lay down for at least an hour after taking doxycycline. I have an occasional upset stomach, but I now take it with a meal and have fewer problems. Drink plenty of fluids. Also, I have gained some weight. Overall, I am very satisfied with the medication. I have not been hospitalized with my legs since starting this medication! I give it a 10 out of 10!"

Doxycycline for Rosacea "Started taking for acne. It helped a lot the first three weeks, but the second I had my period, it's like I might as well not even be taking the Oracea because I see little to no difference. I get diarrhea and an upset stomach in addition to taking this medication. For me, I'll probably need to take a stronger medicine."

For Chlamydia Infection "I found out I had chlamydia 3 days ago. With the doxycycline, I've had a really upset tummy but not been sick. My main problem is I'm really aching and do feel like my anxiety level has increased. I take two 100 mg tablets a day. Thank goodness I only have to take it for 4 more days, as I'm taking other medication on top of this. I'm not a big tablet taker at all, and I've lost my appetite."

For Bronchitis "I started taking this drug for upper respiratory cough, common cold, possibly bronchitis. Instead of taking two pills a day, I took one a day. Within a couple of days, I started cramps in my stomach, diarrhea, upset stomach, and my ears were ringing. One was enough, let alone all of these symptoms at one time. I stopped taking it, went back to the doctor. It's now three days since I stopped, and I still have diarrhea with stomach cramps off and on. And, of course, you feel tired just from the diarrhea constantly. This antibiotic should really be considered taking off the market. The drug is worse than your illness. I started to take it on February 10th, 2020."

For Acne "I started noticing results within a month of use. I had moderate acne on my face, chest, and back. My face completely cleared up 6 months after the initial use, and my back/chest is halfway cleared up. My tip is to not give up on it and make sure you take the medication with food to avoid an upset stomach. Make sure you take the medication around the same time each day and not miss any doses. I do occasionally get a pimple, but not nearly as severe as before."

For Acne "I had the worst breakout I had ever faced. I had large cystic acne, plus there are small bumps that can't be squeezed out. I tried almost all home remedies that are on the internet, but nothing worked, so I decided it's time to see a doctor. She prescribed me doxycycline 100 mg twice a day along with 2 vitamins and to come back in a week. Didn't say anything about it before or after meals. She said it's okay to drink it right after a meal, so that's what I did. At first, I had an upset stomach even though I'm taking it after a meal. After a week, I still had flare-ups and they're really swollen. She prescribed me the same dosage for another week, and noticeably, the flare-ups were reduced, not entirely gone. I'm on my 3rd week now and still hopeful."

For Acne "I’ve been on this medication for almost 4 months now. At the beginning, my skin broke out like crazy. I decided I would keep going to see if it would clear up. But here we are, 4 months later, and none of the acne that I broke out with in the beginning has gone away. It still is very bad and much worse than when I wasn’t on this medication. I only had an upset stomach the first couple of days I took it, but I learned that you need to eat and drink a full glass of water with it. I’m still going to keep taking it, just to see if it will clear up. I have my fingers crossed."

For Acne "I was given this medicine to clear up my acne, and it has worked so well. For those who say they got stomach aches or had vomiting, it is probably due to the fact that they didn't eat a whole meal before taking it. Because it happened to me once, and I learned my lesson after that. So don't forget, EAT when taking!"

For Acne "I used this for about 1 month and a week, so 38 days. And it gave me a horrible itchy rash as a side effect. Not only that, I would sometimes get an upset stomach, especially if I did not eat before taking the pill. I got off it barely 2 days ago due to this rash I’ve never had before. I also threw up once for not eating before the pill, and all these side effects it gives you are not worth it. I would definitely not recommend taking this pill."

For Acne "I just finished 1 week of the doxy therapy. My derm prescribed it for 3 months. I don't see a major difference, but I'm hopeful. It's only been a week, and my derm said it would take about 2-3 months to see improvement. It cleared up the cystic acne on my cheeks and chin, but I've gotten huge breakouts on my forehead and chest. It upsets my stomach a little, but I have tried to avoid dairy immediately before taking doxy."

For Bronchitis "This was prescribed for severe bronchitis. I took it for about five days, and it really didn’t help the bronchitis, but it tore my stomach up. I felt like my stomach lining was on fire and burning up. I lived off of Roland’s chews for two weeks and couldn’t eat a thing for the same amount of time. I lost 15 lbs during that time. On that fifth day, I realized it might be the doxy, so I quit taking it and called the doctor to get something else for my bronchitis. I’m still suffering with bouts of stomach burning and pain."
