Dofetilide "Afib and Vtach sporadic for 3 years. Went through 3 other antiarrhythmics, they all made me very sick, vertigo, N/V, or tanked my BP. Dr. recommended this because I was already in the hospital from complications from my first ablation, which gave me Dressler's syndrome and eventually a pericardial window from fluid buildup that they said was from Eliquis. After 4 weeks on Tikosyn, no horrible side effects like what Rhythmol, flecainide, or Multaq gave me, just mild headaches and a little fatigue. I'm praying this is the keeper because I never want another ablation."

Dofetilide "I went into afib flutter 3 months ago. Been on dofetilide 250 mg since with Eliquis. I reacted with it, so changed to aspirin-82 mg. I have now reacted with it that with gut and stomach pains, general discomfort, memory problems, and brain fog too. But has kept me out of afib-flutter, which I had for 3 or 4 days, before I had cardioversion paddle. Blood pressure is high in the AM then goes down at night. On Cozaar-50 mg also. What to do?"

Dofetilide "I have battled arrhythmia for about 3-4 years. Had ablation 3-4 times, and it never lasted more than a week or two. Finally ended up on Sotalol, usual anti-HTN meds, and Eliquis. I also had a Watchman procedure to close the clot-forming left atrial appendage. After a few months of healing, I stopped Eliquis. Essentially, I could live with my arrhythmia but was offered another approach using Tikosyn (Dofetilide), Lisinopril, a statin med, and baby aspirin. I don't want to live with arrhythmia, so I checked into the hospital to start Tikosyn. It wasn't a restful experience with all the EKGs, blood draws day and night, and I started Tikosyn on day 1. On the 3rd day, I had an ablation. After 24 hours, I was discharged and given the usual instructions about what drugs I should avoid, but doing very well, etc. What blew my mind, I was told not to take vitamin supplements across the board, including AREDS 2, which is highly recommended for my macular degeneration still in dry form. Am I the only one being told?"

"I was hospitalized for 4 days for 'Tikosyn initiation.' I had had arrhythmia for about 4 years, and it had become constant. After the third dose, I went into sinus rhythm. After that, afib reappeared for a time. It subsided, and I went home. I saw my doctor on Monday following my Friday release from the hospital. He felt I should stick it out as the attacks were not for long and only occurred a few times a day, at most. Today, I am pleased to say that the attacks no longer stop me dead in my tracks, leaving me to the mercy of my recliner. I generally notice them when I am working around the house. I have not detected any unusual side effects. For the most part, I carry on normal activity and hope to return to the gym this month for swimming and using the cardio equipment. I like to say that dofetilide has been about 90% effective; however, I may have more to say once I return to the gym."

"I have had four ablations and struggled with atrial fibrillation for years. None of the previous medications prescribed resolved or helped much to improve my condition. Finally, my doctor prescribed dofetilide, and I stayed in the hospital for three days to test the medicine for proper dosage. Finally, the atrial fibrillation was under control. There have been a few side effects, including mild headaches and dizziness, but I am once again living an almost normal life. I am truly thankful for modern medicine and skilled physicians."

Dofetilide "I was administered Tikosyn in Nov. 2018. Since then, it has kept me in sinus rhythm. In March 2021, I took the second shot of the Pfizer vaccine, and within two weeks, my bpm started going up (I was in bradycardia till then with bpm below 65). Got all exams done and seem that I will need to go through ablation. A few more people recorded the same reaction after the COVID vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna). Can I come back to the previous stage after the vaccine effect is lessened? After how long the vaccine effect will go away, I do not know. In some cases, the heart rhythm was restored after 6 hours. In another episode, after one month, it came back to sinus rhythm. I still take dofetilide, why, I do not know, because now it makes no sense."

"I went on Tikosyn in November 2001 and am still on Dofetilide as of May 2018. I spent a week in the hospital back then and have not been out of rhythm since. I had congestive heart failure in April 2001, which led to arrhythmia. I am now 52 years old."

"I am young to have AFib (HR <220). Had it for over 10 years, with many years no one believed me. Diagnosed correctly, my electrophysiologist loaded me for Tikosyn. Had a few problems at first, so he did the lower dosage of 125 twice daily. I took it for over 1.5 years. The downside was one of my monthly hospitalizations, my heart stopped completely 30 mins before discharge, and for a present last year, I received a pacemaker. In June, from complications of the ablation, it went up to 375 twice daily. I don't know if this is a lifesaving medication because I still get episodes, but they are lower (<170) and they now only last up to 4 hours. I haven't been back to the hospital for my friendly visit since August! All I know is that right now it works for me. The downside is it will be the rest of my life... but my doctor is hopeful that one day I will be able to reduce the dosage again!"

Dofetilide "I was put on Tikosyn seven months ago even though the electrophysiologist could not make a-fib happen. I have no idea whether I have a-fib or not. What I do have is clusters of premature heartbeats. I don't like this drug. I see the EP in 10 days, and I’m going to ask to be taken off. A week ago, I missed my morning dose. It was the best I felt since starting this drug. I’ll repeat, I really don't like it and don’t know why the EP insists that I take it."

"Had ablation July 2022. Stayed in Afib over two weeks after. In ER 5 times in 11 days. Previously on amiodarone. Switched to dofetilide and have been in Afib once since. Went right back into sinus rhythm. Price is more than the others but well worth it to feel better."

"I started taking dofetilide on 3/20/18. I have AFib. In the beginning, everything was working fine. Three weeks later, I started having an itch, I was cold, I had pain all over. The doctor stopped the medicine for 5 days. I started back on it again, and at that time I started having sort of short breath. Or better said, I had to take deep breaths and also had a heavy chest. I had so much pain I was not able to walk. The doctor stopped the medicine again and restarted yesterday. I have pains but not bad. I cannot go out for a walk. I am puzzled. I don’t know what to do. I made an appointment to go for a second opinion. I have no AFib when I take the medication, but the side effects are terrible."

"I had very minor afib maybe once a month on Flecainide. 108 rate and short duration. Doc put me on Tikosyn 250 mg, and I quickly had side effects in the hospital: headache, insomnia, frequent urination, etc., and felt PACs. Now home and have even more frequent PACs that last more than 20 minutes at a time. I also have chills and a nasty body odor that I never had before. After two days at home, I’m ready to go back to Flecainide. Does not feel like a good solution for me."

Dofetilide "I have been on Tikosyn for 30 years. I also have a pacemaker. I have sick sinus syndrome along with AFib. I am in AFib about 12% of the time and can tell when I am. It is usually for less than 5 minutes. If not for this drug, I would probably have had a major stroke. I won't ever quit this drug until the doctor tells me to. Also, I had an ablation before starting this drug."

"After many months of suffering from Afib and trying all possible meds, my electrophysiologist put me on Tikosyn, and after the first dose in the hospital, I immediately converted. That was over 4 years ago. I am on 500 micrograms twice a day plus Carvedilol 2x and Xarelto. I have eliminated caffeine and wine, only drink wine spritzer after dinner. No Afib since the beginning, now I am on dofetilide, a generic version of Tikosyn. Other than a stuffy nose occasionally or being a little thirsty during the night, only a very positive experience for me. Also, of course, the high cost of medication, even the generic version, is still costly. I am a 73-year-old woman and wonder if I have to stay on it for the rest of my life to feel normal."
