For Anxiety "I began taking Valium from doctors in 1968 or 1969 when I was in the Vietnam War and experienced a great deal of combat, which affected me very much. It helped. I have been taking Valium for decades. It increases irritability greatly, probably because of head wounds that caused brain damage. 1000 to 1200 mg Carbamazepine stops or reduces the irritability. Unfortunately, the combination of the two medicines causes tiredness."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Bad alcoholic collapsed and hit my head, ended up in hospital, UK. Not much treatment, out next day. Also have autism. I got 2 mg Valium for use when needed, took two the 1st day, three the 2nd day, and I wake up highly agitated and soaked in sweats. It hasn't relaxed me much. I was a heavy drinker from 1995, then in 2003 started to drink every day, hospital and rehab since 2015, just binge drinking now, and have gastritis, plus liver damage and cysts on left kidney. Not having a good time :("

For Light Anesthesia "I was given Valium intravenously for light sedation during a quick medical procedure. It worked very well, but about 30 minutes after the I.V. was removed, I became very irritable and depressed and craved more. It also caused a slight temporary personality change in me that lasted the rest of the day."

For Light Sedation "Was prescribed Valium 2 mg to increase sleep quality as I was sleeping with my fists clenched and clenching my jaw. It seemed to put me to sleep, but I noticed that I would still wake up a number of times through the night and, worse, I was so irritable and angry the next day that everything frustrated me. Only took it for 2 nights. Dr. felt that an increased dose would only worsen the symptoms the next day."

For Muscle Spasm "My doctor prescribed Valium after I had two lung surgeries. It was to treat the pain and muscle spasms. Thankful it was only 5 mgs per night. I couldn’t get a refill in time, and I’d been on it for about two years. I just felt it was time to get off of the Valium. I think I’m doing better pain-wise. And I take Tramadol for that pain during the day. I have been experiencing withdrawals. I am taking natural supplements in place to wean me off. I shake a little, rapid anxious thoughts, digestive upset, irritability, panic. It’s not good to take it long term. I rated Valium high because it did its job, relaxed me, and the only side effects for me were dry mouth and being more tired in the morning. The con is clearly the addictive properties of it. Your body starts to need it just to go to sleep or feel normal. I’m hoping this will end soon. I read it can take months or years to come off Valium. I was on a low dose, so I hope it won’t last that long."
