Desvenlafaxine for Depression "I have suffered from anxiety and depression for many years and recently have been advised that I needed to change my medication. I was on paroxetine for about 10 years and am on day 9 of Pristiq. Nausea, insomnia, and dizziness have been the worst side effects, however, I was taking it in the morning, and it was making me so sleepy that the doctor suggested taking it at night. I noticed a huge difference in my mood yesterday, having not taken it in the morning, I was extremely anxious and cried all day. I took it last night and immediately felt more relaxed, so I am hoping that in a few days, the sadness and despair subside. I have also had a decrease in appetite, probably due to the nausea. I am going to stick with it and hope for the best."

For Panic Disorder "A cardiologist prescribed this to me as my first drug in the world of antidepressants, and it did almost nothing for my anxiety/PD, maybe it made it worse. At first, I didn't pay attention to the side effects, I think I just had a little dizziness, but it didn't do anything positive for me."

For Depression "The 2nd day I took Pristiq, I was hit by a massive and overwhelming anxiety attack, so beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. Hot flashes, cold sweats, nausea, extreme twitchiness like I just drank 2 pots of coffee, my heart rate kept going up and up, my pupils were huge, and my anxiety skyrocketed. I drove myself to the ER and was legitimately worried the whole time that I was going to die. While I was in the waiting room, my Apple Watch was telling me my ECG was “inconclusive.” I was dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out just sitting in that chair. Never EVER again."

For Depression "I’ve been on desvenlafaxine for 2 months. It started out really rough with tons of side effects, including insomnia, but after about 4 weeks, it smoothed out and started working very well. Unfortunately, that was short-lived when things took a sudden turn and I began to feel very strange. Although the medication virtually eliminated my depression and anxiety, I started feeling very angry and very hollowed out. I also started waking up a lot during the night, and during the day, I was having extreme dizziness and nausea, like I hadn’t eaten anything for days. Then I had several migraines, which made me decide to discontinue. Libido also died on this stuff. I felt more machine than human, as if I shed my entire spiritual dimension. No depression, no anxiety, but no nothing. Tapering off slowly now."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on desvenlafaxine Actavis for over 2 years now for anxiety/anger and depression. I was seeing a psychologist for the first three months of having the drug and experienced minimal side effects, a little dizziness here and there. Although I don't feel any different, I'm not quick to lose my temper anymore, and I don't stew on things that have made me very angry in the past."

For Depression "I started on 50 mg, then up to 100 mg, and I have gained so much weight. I do not eat hardly at all, but do crave sweet food. Also, I get dizzy and sweating. I am going to try to come off them and onto something else. I couldn't figure out my symptoms until others shared theirs. Also, I am retaining fluid. Thank you for all who participated and completed comments - now I know what is causing the weight gain."

For Depression "I started to take Pristiq 100 mg 9 days ago. For the first day, I got dizzy and threw up 1 time. For the first week, I felt so good. I woke up early and very prepared to work. I also could stop smoking for 7 days. After 7 days, I became in a bad mood like I was before and smoked again. I will keep taking this medicine to see the results, and I hope that my depression goes away and stabilizes."

Desvenlafaxine for Depression "I’ve been taking this since May. I don’t think it’s worth taking. The most annoying thing for me is that I sweat a lot more than usual. I tend to sweat, but now it’s much worse. I also don’t think it’s helped much. I did not know that I would have to be gradually taken off of it. While I didn’t have severe withdrawal symptoms, I did have dizziness and a feeling like electrical impulses going off in my head when I accidentally failed to take it for two days in a row. I started taking it again, and they went away. I have asked to be gradually taken off of it. I’ve also had worse anxiety at times."
