For Birth Control "My GYN prescribed for this for endo. Experienced depression, irritability, significant hair loss, acne (never had before) dry skin and weight gain. Had breakthrough bleeding after about 2 months then extremely heavy bleeding (two ultra tampons soaked in minutes at times) for ten days with tennis ball-size clot around day 3. GYN at that point said stop taking and prescribed meds to stop the bleeding. The worst one yet."

For Birth Control "I have taken this for 3 months now, and did not like it. I should specify that my main reason for picking a hormonal contraceptive is because I have heavy painful periods. I’ve had incredible results with other pills, but this one was absolutely useless for that reason. I’m glad it’s worked for some, but I will be switching yet again."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Viorele for almost a year now and I can definitely say that it helps you be protected from pregnancy as long as you take the pill everyday and almost at the same time. Sometimes I even take it 10 or 30 minutes before my actual time. But when it comes to weight gain, I know some ladies would worry about gaining weight too and this pill always made me hungry. I don’t know if it’s just my body but it makes me hungry. I’ve been going gym for 7 months and this pill makes it so hard for me to lose weight even if I tried eating less. There’s no change at all! Anything don’t work even acv gummies or anything that can suppress my appetite, it still makes me hungry. To all ladies that works out and wants to lose weight, consult with your doctor about the pill you can use. If you don’t mind always feeling hungry then I suggest this."

For Birth Control "I wouldn’t recommend this birth control to my worst enemy. Haven’t even been on it 2 months and have noticed SEVERE depression and intrusive thoughts along with heightened anxiety. Also, it has made me have so much discharge that I can’t even exercise without a noise being made. The depression caused me to start getting behind in all of my college classes and has made me want to sleep 24/7. Just NO. I personally am cold turkerying being off birth control for the first time in my life after this. Enough was enough."

For Birth Control "My daughter was switched from Azurette (no side effects) to Viorelle, by the pharmacy. She's miserable. Periods are still unstable, the breakouts have stopped but thats the only plus! Her periods last forever, she's always exhausted, looks like a zombie half the time, got sick with a cough and took a month to kick it, has NO energy, NO strength, gaining weight, Horrible headaches and period cramps. After reading the other problems ladies have had with this pill she will be STOPPING IT! Thanks ladies for coming on here to tell your stories!"

For Birth Control "I been on this pill for about 3-4 months now. I don’t have any side effects. No weight gain, nausea, low sex drive nothing. I was really nervous to start taking these pills at first, but I literally feel no change from before I started taking them to now. No complains"

For Birth Control "I’ve really liked this BC. I haven’t had any weight gain or mood swings. The few things I have experienced is trouble wearing contacts, darkening of facial skin, and a little more acne around chin. Other than that can’t complain. Doctors would like me to switch from this BC to and IUD or implant due to the fact I’m on Lamotrigine. I’m pretty nervous about that."

For Birth Control "I took Viorele for a single month. I have experienced the worst acne I've had in YEARS, my depression has gotten significantly worse, my blood pressure (which is usually spot on perfect) is frequently high, and my mood swings are horrible."

For Birth Control "This pill is AMAZING! I’ve been on it for about 3 months now and have had no problems except the occasional moodiness and anxiety. I have been losing weight on this pill as well! It makes my periods lighter and I’ve had no problem with sex drive. I definitely recommend this pill to anyone who is looking for a new birth control."

For Birth Control "I switched to this birth control after wanting to see if it’d improve my acne. I experience a lot of nausea A LOT. No sex drive :( and my cystic acne after 6 months of taking it, got pretty bad. I also had random severe abdominal pain. My mood was fine but overall, it seems there is nothing special about this BC."

For Birth Control "Started taking Viorele about a week ago because the birth control that I was on before (Kariva) wasn’t in stock at Walgreens. So they just switched me to Viorele. I have been feeling super sick all week. Very bad mood swings, bad neck and head pains and also was very bloated. Once I figured out that it was the birth control that made me feel this way, I immediately switched back to Kariva."

For Birth Control "My obgyn tried me on this bc due to heavy periods and the progestin from my previous bc was harsh on my stomach. My first pack, no issues but period was still a bit heavy. Second pack, extremely moody at PMS time and period came a day before I got to the sugar pills. At the end of my pack, period was ending. Started my third pack and period came back with a vengeance. Period is coming to an end but 9-10 days is ridiculous. My periods are usually no more than 7 days with or without the pill. One good thing is I didn't get pregnant. I will see what happens with one more pack. My obgyn might have to put me on one with a little more estrogen."

For Birth Control "Been on this pill Viorele for over a year I felt like it overall stabilized my mood, weight, and breakouts. But, I started getting migraines at least 5 times a month! Couldn't pin point it to my job schedule or the pill, but I'm starting to see here that other people experienced migraines too! Terrible migraines that would roll over onto the following day sometimes excedrin doesn't help or by that point I'm so nauseous I throw up. I feel like my migraine days are wasted moments where I'm so crappy and unlike myself. Scared of my hormones being out of whack when I get off but I feel so terrible on my migraine days I know it's not healthy for me. Definitely outweigh risks and benefits when considering birth control! Hope this helps!"

For Birth Control "I was put on Viorele pill and overall experience wasn't too bad. I did experienced bad mood swings and that just isn't me. Frequent headaches and no sex drive. The worst part of all... losing my hair! After a year, I started to notice my hair thinning and wondering what the heck was going on. I look back at the side effects and low and behold I see loss of scalp hair. Stopped taking it for a few months now, but will have my gyno switch me to something else."

For Birth Control "I got on this to control my period. I've been taking this medication now for my 2nd week and haven't really noticed anything although I'm not taking the BC to stop getting pregnant. I had my tubes tied I just wanted something to regulate my periods. I have been going 40 to 60 days without bleeding and when I do its abnormally heavy so I was hoping to control it and make it more regular my dr say it could be perimenopause"

For Birth Control "I was switched from Azurette to Viorele by my pharmacy. Took Viorele for almost 3 months because I got 3 packs at a time. It gave me frequent headaches that I didn't experience on the azurette even though they are supposed to be the same. The biggest issue is I thought I had a UTI because it made me have to pee ALL the time. I had no other changes in my life except the pill so after going to the doctor and getting checked for UTI and it being negative I have switched back. My boobs were always sore but it made them look bigger so I didn't mind too much. If you have already big boobs though this might be a problem. Skin looks great on both pills. Period is light but cramps can be horrible sometimes."

For Birth Control "I've only been on this medication for a week and I haven't had any problems at all. I take it at night, and I dont have any nausea or anything like I did with other BC methods. I am sensative to contraceptives and on the shot, I gained 30 pounds quickly. On the patch, I threw up only 12 hours after having it on. And other pills made me moody or nauseated. This pill has a low does of estrogen and it has been great so far-- frankly, I think I have been losing weight. Not sure if that has anything to do with this pill or not, but we will see!"

For Birth Control "I've been on viorele for the past year and a half. At first, it was great! It got rid of my cramps, it regulated my period, and it worked in respects to preventing pregnancy, but for the past 6 months, I experienced a severe decrease in my libido, almost it was nonexistent. When I did want to have sex, I experienced severe pain, which I didn't experience prior. I was agitated and my anxiety and depression were worse. I'm now looking for a different birth control."

For Birth Control "I went on viorele to help with heavy and painful periods and it helped very minimally. It made my periods much lighter but they would last a week instead of my usual 4-5 days. It sometimes made the cramping worse, or it didn’t help at all. I liked taking it because it made my hair less greasy and my body hair grow less— I’m not sure if I am making this up but when I stopped taking it my hair was so greasy and my leg hair grew like crazy. My acne went away almost completely. My cup size went from a B to a C. But my sex drive definitely declined. So, in the end it didn’t really help.. but that was on a very low dosage."

For Birth Control "I've been on VIORELE for two weeks and one day and I've already gained a noticeable amount of weight. That is not the part about this BC, though. Recently I've noticed I'm also losing hair and eyelashes in clumps. Definitely stopping this ASAP."

For Birth Control "I started this BCP because I was supposed to get on Accutane and the derm would not let me have it with out being on birth control (bc). I had never been on bc before and really didn’t want to but I was suffering with severe cystic acne, blackheads, whiteheads etc. I’ve always had acne since middle school but it was only about 2 cysts on my chin, but my face was bad after I had twins, it was all over my cheeks, jawline and forehead. I started this and I tell you within the first month my acne was clear! I was so excited because I didn’t have to get on accutane! But it all went downhill very quickly. I already have anxiety but it caused me to have anxiety like I have never experienced. Extreme emotional meltdowns, depression, panic attacks, stomach and digestive issues. It also made my periods irregular. I wouldn’t bleed for a month and then bleed for 2 weeks straight. Seriously would not recommend. I even read these reviews before trying it and should have known better."

For Birth Control "I started the pill 3 weeks ago I'm about to begin the 4th week tomorrow, I've experienced breast tenderness since the first pill I've taken and it's been inconsistent and hasn't stopped yet, normally I'd just have breast soreness the week of my period then it would stop but when I took the pill it hasn't stopped, i did get acne the first week but it cleared up, I have noticed some mood swing change as i got closer to the 2 green pills, but I normally pms the week before my period, it seems as tho my patience is a lot thinner now though then it was before, I'm nervous for the yellow pills because my periods weren't ever bad before and I'm afraid there gonna be longer or something but i hope not. Overall i like the pill and would recommend it"

For Birth Control "Do yourself a favor and avoid this one... I’ve tried about 10 different pills over the last 6 years and this was by far the worst. While this helped my skin and helped me lose a little weight, I was on my period for 3 out of the 4 weeks for FOUR months with heavy bleeding the entire time. My doctor was hoping my body would adjust but it never did. I also had excruciating cramps and some of the worst migraines of my life about once a month on this. I’ve heard the other generics of Mircette such as Karina and Azurette are much better, ask your doctor about them before you try this."

For Birth Control "This is the only bc that I have been able to tolerate since I had my first child over 10 years ago. I had no problems prior to pregnancy. I had a hard time after my 2nd child. No period, thyroiditis, mood swings, depression...yuck! I have evened out now. I did have headaches, nausea, breast tenderness and mood swings in the beginning. Currently on the 5th mo. I do suffer from insomnia but often wonder if Viorele is making it worse. I had many other symptoms that were way worse than starting on Viorele. It's calmed me and fatigue is trying to leave. My bowels are effected during the yellow pills and first few days of a new pack. Meds effect everyone differently. I was about out of options, glad the side effects are diminishing."
