For Anorexia "I bought this drug because I had heart problems, making it so hard to eat. So one day, I just asked around for appetite tablets, and I got cyproheptadine. I drank three tablets for three consecutive days, and that time, I was really skinny too. Then I stopped because of dry mouth, being irritable, and oversleeping. Lockdown started, and my appetite didn't change. When it ended, I couldn't believe how curvy I had become. Everyone was talking about my body. I got amazing curves almost overnight. My intention wasn't really to gain weight, I just wanted to eat normally, but I'm glad I got the best side effect of it."

For Failure to Thrive "Cyproheptadine is a very strong antihistamine and serotonin combo. Our 10½-year-old only took ¼ of a 4 mg tablet for just over two months for failure to thrive due to severe stomach pains when she ate anything. Our daughter has a very limited diet due to sensitivities to ingredients on top of her being very particular. The very small amount of cyproheptadine made our daughter more agitated and more anxious. The doctor put her on cyproheptadine AFTER performing a $15,000 upper and lower scope. Thank goodness we only had to pay our deductible, however, the cyproheptadine should’ve been prescribed prior to performing expensive scopes. Our daughter, who has autism spectrum disorder, hasn’t experienced any severe stomach pain since stopping cyproheptadine."

For Anorexia Nervosa "Started cyproheptadine mid-September of 2019 at 97 lbs. Underweight for a 31-year-old woman. I’ve been small my whole life, but I am a very anxious person. So, this was a contributing factor. My doctor prescribed 4 mg 3 times a day. I started out with 1 pill a day and never increased because of how well it worked. The first week, it does make you very sleepy and even irritable. Well, it did with me. I pushed through because I needed to see if it worked. So my weight and dates. Started mid-September 2019 - 97 lbs. October 7th - 110 lbs, November 6th - 121.2 lbs. I was gaining pretty decent weight and now I’m 136-139 lbs, which is at my goal since I’m only 5’1. My weight does fluctuate by 5 lbs give or take just depending on how I’m feeling and eating. If I drop below 135, I just start it back and within a week and a half, I’m back to where I want to be. This medication does work, and it works well, the key is getting through the first week or two of side effects to allow your body to adjust."
