For Gout, Acute "This medicine works perfectly. I took one 0.6 mg at the first sign of an attack and another 0.6 mg 4 hours later. Then the 3rd one 12 hours later. Back to normal the next day. Make sure you take it with a meal at the very first sign of a gout flare-up. Also, stay away from tofu and tomatoes if you don’t want to feel the pain, and colchicine has side effects and is very dangerous if you overdose. I mean stomach upset and muscle weakness within 7 days from the last pill."

For Gout, Acute "Colchicine really helped my gout flares when I took the 2 pills followed by 1 more pill, but I also had some side effects. My stomach hurt, and I felt dizzy. I am type II diabetic, and my blood sugar levels were higher on the day I took colchicine. My doctor prescribed a daily dose of colchicine, and I only took that for a short time. I really had a terrible reaction to the daily dose. I will continue to take it for sporadic gout attacks."

For Sarcoidosis "I'm 39 years old and was in a car accident when I was 16, resulting in 16 surgeries. I didn't have anything specific happen to my heart, but I had a lot of damage to that area (broken ribs, bleeding liver and kidneys, and collapsed lungs). Within a few months, I started having severe pain in my heart and after several trips to the ER, I was diagnosed with pericarditis. It's inflammation of the sac that holds the heart and feels like a heart attack 24/7. My treatment over the years has been 800 mg ibuprofen every 4 hours and colchicine. Within 12 hours, my flare-up begins to get a little better and by day three of taking the medication, I'm almost back to normal. I haven't had any upset stomach issues or weird side effects. My toes are a little tingly, but I can handle that... can't handle the feeling of having knives going into my neck and chest with an elephant sitting on my chest. I only take this medication when I have a flare-up every 6-12 months."

For Familial Mediterranean Fever "Improvement started immediately after starting medication. Complete return to normal function after 6 months on medication. Current dose 1.8 mg daily. Stomach issues, which may have been from extensive antibiotic use prior to correct diagnosis, were resolved with Culturelle Probiotic and recognizing lactose intolerance. This drug did cause lactose intolerance."

Colchicine for Gout, Acute "Immediate relief. No upset stomach, no numbing of fingers, just sweet relief. I took 0.06 at onset and 0.06 eight hours later, pain gone in about 20 hours."

Colchicine for Gout, Acute "My doctor put me on indomethacin during a gout attack. She said that taking Colcrys during a flare-up can dislodge uric acid crystals from other parts of the body, which can end up in the affected area, making it worse. After 13 days, I am on Colcrys. A little bit of an upset stomach, but I will trade it for the pain any day. The manufacturer has printable coupons and vouchers to help with the cost. Good luck."
