For Bacterial Infection "My daughter took clindamycin 300 mg 3X a day for severe kissing tonsils (swollen tonsils that meet in the midline or overlap), couldn’t talk, and a lymph node in the side of her neck had her neck swollen. A swab of her throat and culture of it, along with blood culture, were negative. She had a dose of the IV form in the hospital and then continued it at home in pill form for 5 days. Each day her stomach and chest hurt more. By day 5, she was vomiting and having severe chest pain and refused to continue the medicine, saying it was making her miserably ill. I do believe it’s because I couldn’t get her to drink enough fluids when she took the pill to wash it down well. It did help her tonsils. I hope the 5 days and the IV dose were enough because the hospital wouldn’t call in something different to replace it, and we don’t have insurance at the moment. This medicine works well, but like on the bottle, don’t lay down for 10 minutes after taking it and drink a full glass of water with it. I also believe eating before taking it would help."

For Bacterial Infection "Prescribed this due to a possible tooth nerve infection, I couldn't drink or eat on the left side, which was where the nerve was. I can certainly say after 3.5 days of taking two 150 mg of clindamycin, it has definitely helped with the pain. BUT I noticed right before bed, I'd get painful chest pains and pains coming from my back due to the chest, as well as difficult breathing. I read in a comment that it's best to be in a seated or standing position for at least 30 minutes when taking these. I highly suggest you do this if you do have discomfort from taking it. I also noticed that first having a large meal, e.g., breakfast, lunch, or dinner, then taking the medication afterward, I didn't feel any pain, but if I left the last one too late before bed, it would become an issue."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking this a few days ago. The very next day after I started taking it, I had chest pain, and it got so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. It also makes me extremely dizzy to where I can’t stand up without almost falling down. I get nauseous and sometimes even thrown up. I am supposed to take 2 every 6 hours, so that’s 8 pills a day, but the side effects are so bad I can’t really take it. I talked to my doctor about it, and they just pushed my side effects to the side and told me to deal with it. I’m struggling with this antibiotic, honestly, so I might find a new doctor."

For Bacterial Infection "I was given this for a bad cellulitis infection on my left leg thanks to having bad circulation. The doctor gave me my first dose at the ER, not stressing that I needed to have food in me. The first dose was perfectly fine, though I had just eaten a full meal. The pharmacist said I should have a little food in me while taking it, but eating it with a meal wasn't required. I ate some crackers and some of my cheese ball, with a water bottle to drink, and 20 minutes later, my chest and my back hurt like anything. My chest and back are bloated, and it feels like someone jammed a tire pump into my lungs and inflated me to a nearly bursting limit like in a cartoon. It's so painful, I have a high pain tolerance, but this is almost unbearable."

For Deep Neck Infection "It cured my infection, but the side effects sent me to the hospital. I got chest tightness, severe heartburn, plus the severe pain of swallowing! My face flushed red. Excruciating headache for a short time at the hospital. Also nausea at times. The hospital thought it was a heart attack until it was ruled out. They didn't connect the clindamycin to be a problem. I will never take it again, as I also have IBS, and it didn't help. I only have 4 capsules left on the 28 RX."

For Pneumonia "I did not lay down, but I took this pill on an empty stomach, BIG MISTAKE! Worst heartburn of my life, chest pain! Thought I was going to die! Alka-Seltzer made it worse, then it worked after about 10 minutes. Don't really know how it is doing on the infection, being I will not be taking this medication again!"

For Bacterial Infection "I had to take this because penicillin wouldn't kill off my strep throat. The first dose I took of clindamycin on an empty stomach. Don't do that. It hurt my stomach, and I thought it was my fever putting me into a seizure. Retrospect, it was the pain from this med. The drug worked well, after a couple of days, all my symptoms were gone. But I took one on a severely empty stomach, and I've been so sick for 3 days now. It gave me severe tummy aches and horrible heartburn. I feel swollen and a lot of chest pain. Eat a lot of yogurt for the probiotics and ask your doctor for help if the heartburn becomes bad. This medication gets rid of all the bacteria, including the good ones that help you."

For Bacterial Infection "I seem to be the only one who reacted to this stuff with noticeable chest soreness-not really cramps, and thank goodness no vomiting, but my chest feels all sore. And, especially at night, I also feel rather out of breath. The prescription was for a rather severe infection from a root canal. Said infection made my entire upper lip swell up completely, was so painful and sensitive that I was popping Ibuprofen along with Tylenol every six hours, every day, for several days. Clindamycin probably had some effect, but what really made a difference was a specialist physically draining the infection. Otherwise, it wasn't going down."

For Bacterial Infection "Took this medicine for a tooth infection. I got this prescribed by my dentist finally, and admittedly it did get rid of the tooth infection, but it caused way more problems. I ended up with my jaw, lymph node, and cheek getting incredibly swollen even though the infection had left. Which made me confused, painkiller didn't really help the swelling. While taking it, not only did I have this nausea, dizziness, heartburn, sore throat, chest pain, stiff neck, pain in my shoulders (after 2 days in), diarrhea (after 5 days in), swelling, which I later discovered is/was caused by this antibiotic. After stopping it 2 days ago, it also gave me a white tongue. I have little bumps/sores on the inside of my mouth on my upper lip, dry mouth, my mouth is really scaly feeling inside, and the corner of my mouth on the left side is numb in feeling/tingly still. So, please, don't take this under any circumstance other than if you're dying or it's literally your only choice. I had 150mg, 2 a day as written."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Felt like I was having a heart attack. Instant chest pain as if the pill was huge and lodged down in my throat/chest. Light-headedness, dizzy... and did nothing to clear up my boil on my back. Thought I was just being a little overly moody till I read up on it. I will now stop taking it."

For Bacterial Infection "Was given clindamycin for an infected tooth that abscessed. I'm flagged for the cillins, so the dentist gave me this. I couldn't make it past 4 days as it affected the right side only of my body. I couldn't use my arm for 4 days. Almost went to the ER. Around July 29th is when I took it. Now August 21st and still slowly getting over all the bad effects. I'm probably going to have to go to my actual doctor to make sure it didn't cause long-term damage. Bad heartburn, chest pain, muscle and joint pain, mostly on the right side. Got worse every time I took a pill. Stopped taking them and have slowly started feeling better."

For Bacterial Infection "Sitting here reading these comments while having severe chest, back, and head pain after taking this medication following a root canal. I ate a full meal, but the pain started within five minutes of swallowing the pill. I clearly won’t be finishing the cycle and would not recommend anyone to take it."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was given clindamycin for bacterial vaginosis while pregnant. I had been on it once years before for something else, and it made me vomit once and mildly uncomfortable the rest of the time. This time, it has caused throat and chest pain and tightening, rash, horrible heartburn, and more. The doctor won't give me anything else, but I am beginning to think the BV is of less risk to the baby than this is. Never again."

Clindamycin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Helped knock down MRSA infection, couldn't take full course of antibiotic due to chest pains and inability to swallow for 3 days. Horrible pain, then the diarrhea started."
