"Initially, my doctor prescribed Flagyl. The worse I can't believe the FDA approved that drug, the side effects were bad. It took about a week to recover off of one pill. This is my second time taking Clindamycin, and on Day 4, let's just say this time I feel like karma took over. A year ago, I had no side effects. This time around, I experience mild side effects such as brain fog, skin rash, and my anxiety comes from time to time, but I can tolerate it. I seriously want to get better and make better choices so I won't have to keep taking this med. Make sure you eat a well-balanced meal and drink plenty of water."

"Was prescribed Metronidazole pills, and the first day was fine, symptoms went away almost instantly, mild side effect of a bit of nausea and drowsiness. Nothing I couldn’t handle. Second day was a literal nightmare: dizziness, confusion, fever, vomiting, cold sweats. I went back to my doctor, and she said we’d try the Clindamycin vaginal cream. FAIR WARNING, it’s a lot more expensive than the pills. But the cramps and discharge were so bad, and there was NO WAY I was going to go through 5 more days of vomiting and utter hell. Now on the first night of the cream, and so far, so good. Symptoms mostly abated, no side effects at all. I’m feeling more confident this won’t have me spending the night with my head in the toilet again... so far, would recommend over the Metronidazole."

"I felt like I needed to write a review because all the other reviews scared me. I do not tolerate Flagyl, so when I came down with BV again, I opted for the cream. While it is messy and unpleasant, it is much better than the pill for me. I will say that I have experienced some body aches, but it seems to go away throughout the day and especially after I work out. Overall, not so bad. I’m on day 2 of 7."

"I hate taking Flagyl, it makes me so sick, but by taking this, it really cleared up most of my symptoms within days. The only side effect I got is heartburn and a bit of dizziness. I definitely recommend taking this with a meal."

"Don’t let all the bad reviews scare you! I did 7 days of the suppository and did not develop any issues at all. No yeast infection or side effects. If you’re worried about that, just take a probiotic or eat good-quality yogurt. Symptoms noticeably cleared by day 2. Obviously, the downside is the leakage throughout the day, but I only ever noticed it come out when I used the bathroom."

"I’ve taken this medicine three times, and my BV just keeps coming back. The second time, it didn’t even cure it. :( But I can’t take Flagyl...that’s awful stuff. No side effects with this, though. I’ve just hoped my body would let it kill off the bacteria. I take it twice a day for seven days."

"Clindamycin usually works like a charm. I get BV maybe once or twice a year. This time, after 4 days, the pills did nothing, I started the cream last night, but still no improvement. I hope I’m not resistant to it."

"Taking this medication for a BV that has been coming back every few months for the past three years. I have previously received one-day pills and vaginal suppositories on different occasions, but none have been effective in the long run. The same gyn recently prescribed clindamycin 300 mg twice a day for 7 days, however, she gave me the complete Rx for 10 days in case I need it. I am currently on the 7th day and likely to continue all through the 10th since my BV has been persistent. Fortunately, I have not had side effects so far, and I have not always taken the medication with food."

"Took this for BV, and it made my itching worse and I noticed I had more thick discharge. It gave me a yeast infection. I’m supposed to take it for 3 days, but it’s my second day and I’m dying of how bad my yeast infection is. I’m thinking of calling my doctor and asking for anti-yeast pills so I can treat the yeast infection. Nightmare."

"I was very nervous to start this after reading some reviews. I am 34 weeks pregnant and was prescribed 300mg 2x daily for BV after I couldn't stomach the antibiotic metronidazole. I am on day 4 and have had little to no side effects. Maybe some heartburn on the first day, but nothing unbearable. I take my dose with a large meal and plenty of water! I wish I had started this antibiotic sooner. I have a very weak stomach and have had no issues in that department. I also picked up a probiotic which I take between my doses, which might be helping too. Not sure if it's helping the BV yet, but I feel very safe on this antibiotic."

"I’ve had a lot of bad side effects with antibiotics, so this is the only one I can take for BV (severely painful BV). Got through one course of it, and it got rid of the majority of the bacteria, but I was still a little uncomfortable (swabs confirmed it was mostly gone but not all of it). I’m now on the second course of it. I don’t get any major side effects other than a slight tummy ache intermittently (maybe TMI, but I have just started my period this time, which always gives me an iffy tummy anyway, so I’d attribute some of it to that). I don’t have to hugely alter my life, especially as it’s over Christmas, as I’ve been advised by the Dr. that I can eat whenever I want and drink alcohol in moderation. I do get REALLY hungry on this medication, so I would recommend eating before or after to keep your tummy settled, as it literally felt like my stomach was eating itself last night after my last dose. It’s a little inconvenient as I have to drink so much water with it. Overall positive."

"I used it for a night and a half before I started itching badly, much worse than the BV, which never bothered me. I had to use an ice pack, then noticed blisters, and the swelling was awful. It's morning, and I will call the doctor and ask if I will have to deal with this for 7 days."

"First, let me just say that after reading many of the reviews, I was terrified to take this drug. Reading all of the scary side effects, and the fact that I have difficulty swallowing the capsules. I went and purchased Florajen Digestion Probiotics. I know I needed to avoid the horrible diarrhea I read about, and I believe the probiotic helped me prevent that. (I took the probiotic twice a day.) I drank a large glass of water prior to taking the medicine (2 cups total). I then cooked a small amount of oatmeal and placed approximately 3 tablespoons into a small bowl. I cut open the capsule and emptied the medicine into the oatmeal and stirred it together. Be aware that this powder is one of the most horrible tastes I have ever had in my mouth. I scooped up some of the oatmeal on a spoon and put it in my mouth. I drank more water with the oatmeal to help it slide down my throat. To help with the nasty taste in my mouth, I then sucked on a lemon drop piece of candy."

"I've used Flagyl 10-day inserts 2x, metronidazole 14-day 1x & 7-day 5x, and finally clindamycin oral 3x7-day 1x combined with 14-day boric inserts. Three days after I finished the boric, it's back with a vengeance. Reading these comments, I am gonna definitely try the clindamycin inserts if they have it where I am. If not, I'll try tinidazole, and if that doesn't work, I don't know what I will do."

"I had clindamycin for my vaginal infection. After I took the first dose, diarrhea started for me for 2 weeks. After 3 months, again I am having diarrhea for 2 months. Treatment going on, please don't take clindamycin, it's a dangerous drug. It will destroy our gut flora and had an opportunity for C. diff to grow."

"I'm 25, prescribed clindamycin cream 5g/night over 5 days for BV. 1st night I experienced crippling stomach pain within 2 hrs. 2nd night a tremor/shaking, with creamy white discharge the next day as well as frothy, cloudy urine. 3rd night was fine, but had very pale stool. 4th night I became very hot 2 hours after dosage and woke up halfway through the night in a puddle of sweat, I assume I broke a fever. 5th (last) night was fine, but I am experiencing extremely watery diarrhea 24 hours after the last dose. Perhaps my prescribed dose was a little too strong, as my side effects were pretty intense. Taking the cream insertion was easy and straightforward, no mess, no burning. I recommend this antibiotic over metronidazole (Flagyl). Along with MANY horrific side effects including a paralyzing audio hallucination lasting >10 mins, I still have a (mild) ringing in my ear that was brought on after taking a single 2g dose of metronidazole to treat trichomoniasis 2 yrs ago."

"I was prescribed 300 mg twice a day for seven days, and the next day it was still there, so I went back to the hospital, and I was prescribed another three days of the same dosage. It cleared my infection, and it was not awful taking it (I do not swallow pills, so I chew them) - I put the powder in bread, then used icing to swallow everything - the taste did remain a long time, but it's all because of the previous antibiotics that screwed up my tongue. The reason why I am not giving it a perfect score is because it gave me a yeast infection, so more medication for me to take (another 1 for the new infection)."

"I was given clindamycin for bacterial vaginosis while pregnant. I had been on it once years before for something else, and it made me vomit once and mildly uncomfortable the rest of the time. This time, it has caused throat and chest pain and tightening, rash, horrible heartburn, and more. The doctor won't give me anything else, but I am beginning to think the BV is of less risk to the baby than this is. Never again."

"I struggled with BV for a long time, but I avoided antibiotics because I read a lot of horrifying stories from people who tried this medication. However, I decided to try the Dalacin C cream every night for 7 days, and I had no side effects at all! And it I finally got rid of my BV! I wish I tried this medication sooner! Don't be afraid to try this, ladies!"
