"This prep smells pleasant but is difficult to drink after the first swallow. It made me feel bloated and a little nauseated for 2-3 hours, and it took about 3 hours before it had some effect. The same thing happened with the second dose. On top of that, it made my rectum bleed. That was a first with a bowel prep. And lastly, it did a poor job of cleaning my bowels. This is my 5th time doing this, and this was the worst bowel prep! Give me a Miralax and Dulcolax combo any day! This stuff was no good!"

"Clenpiq was decent as a bowel prep. The solution I got was flavored with cranberry flavor. It was sweet and salty, but I got it down easily. Compared to GoLytely, there were slightly fewer movements (although still a LOT), but towards the end, it started feeling hot and acidic. I didn't have that with GoLytely. Make sure to have baby wipes handy. However, it seemed to clean me out very well, probably better than GoLytely. I didn't have any noticeable adverse side effects. Although, the prep continued to work AFTER the procedure."

"It did not work at all. I did everything exactly as prescribed, but nothing. This really makes me mad. Guess I’ll have to get some prep that works and do everything all over again. Gee, thanks, Clenpiq!! Lousy product!"

"It was the easiest prep I have tried. I used a straw to drink the first bottle as well as the second. I started at 1:00 and the second bottle at 6:00. Slept through the night with no disturbances. Doc said I was totally cleaned out. I drank 50 ounces of liquids. Jello as well. Keep drinking white apple, white cranberry, and lemon jello."

"Tastes like sweet and salty chalk, but I didn't mind. I am on the 2nd bottle now. Tons of water and clear Pedialyte, so I have zero dehydration, no headaches or anything, no cramps, no nausea. Worried a bit because I only have a small amount of bowel movements that were just liquid, and now nothing. That's it? Did it work? I go in for the colonoscopy in about 3 hours. I am up all night feeling like I gotta go, but then don't. So we will see."

"This was my first bowel prep, and it was way easier than I expected! I took Zofran before each dose, which definitely helped. I had about 20 minutes of nausea each dose, but after that, it was easy! I was totally clear and had an uneventful procedure."

"I was prescribed Clenpiq for my first ever colonoscopy prep. I drank the first dose around 5 pm, and it started to kick in within an hour. It was super sweet and did not taste great. I felt nauseous for about 30 minutes after drinking each dose, but that went away. There was no warning when it kicked in. I think another reviewer used the phrase 'turned on the water works,' which is an accurate description of my experience. I spent at least an hour straight in the bathroom. It took about 3 to 4 hours for things to ease enough where I felt I could try to sleep. I took the 2nd dose around 3:15 am. It took less time to kick in, and I did have a slight urge this time. I went intermittently until it was time to leave my house at 7:45 am, but made it without any accidents on the drive there. I did have to go once after arriving, but it wasn't much. Overall, I felt Clenpiq did what it was supposed to with minimal side effects for me. I had a successful prep and colonoscopy."

"I have heard nightmare stories of prepping for a colonoscopy from family members. I was very hesitant. First of all, I don’t drink much water to begin with. I started the day before prep with a liquid diet. The next day, I started my prep after more liquids during the day. The taste was sweet. Taking the advice of reviews, I used a straw. I drank water right after, that was harder than drinking the prep for me. I switched to Sprite, as it was easier for me to drink. I had my first bowel movement within 20 minutes. I went every 10-15 minutes for about an hour, but didn’t have to run to the bathroom. I didn’t spend long in the bathroom when I did go. Trips to the bathroom were further apart in time. I took the second dose, and it was very much the same as the first. I never felt the rush to get into the bathroom, it wasn’t “violent” episodes as people had described. By the time I had to go to the hospital, about 35 minutes away, I was basically done."

"I have a hereditary genetic condition that requires me to undergo a colonoscopy every year. I had not used Clenpiq before. After having only clear liquids all day and following the instructions exactly, I found that the product did not work! It took 8 hours for anything to happen. I drank more fluids than the 40 ounces stated. Due to the very long time for results from the first bottle, I drank the second one an hour earlier than I had to. Again, nothing happened for 5 hours! And it was never clean enough. I called my doctor's office the morning of my test to find out what to do, and my procedure had to be canceled."

"First of all, this prep is full of artificial sweeteners. I actually have a sensitivity to those, as many do, and evacuate them quickly. I had all clear liquids the day before, as directed. The first bottle worked in 45 minutes, and then I spent every hour in the bathroom spilling liquid from my behind. Pretty sure I was prepped for the next day's procedure by 10 pm. I could see through the toilet water. I drank my 5 cups of water right away. Had an EGD scheduled along with the colonoscopy, so I knew I couldn't have anything to eat or drink past about 5 am. Reluctantly, drank the second bottle around midnight. Set an alarm to get up and drink water. Had to use A&D ointment on my bottom before 9 pm... Taste was awful. Salty and horrible artificial sweetener mixed with absent cranberry. But the upside was the small dose. Would definitely recommend having both doses, though, before midnight to be all done with movements pre-procedure."

"I gave it a 10 out of 10. Best bowel prep I have used! There are 2 small bottles of super sweet liquid. Took it in sips with lots of other water/liquids. Not hard at all (considering I had vomited up prior high-volume preps). Not a fan of sweet drinks, so mostly drank chicken 'not your average bouillon' in between, with water, tea, etc. One dose in the evening, the other early the morning of. Easy as can be. Rate 10."

"I had my first colonoscopy 15 years ago. Since then, I've 'pooped in the box' a couple of times and used Clenpiq recently. I didn't have any problems, and I think it's better than I remembered from last time. I followed instructions carefully. Light breakfast the day before, then apple juice, green Jello, and vegetable broth throughout the day. At 6 pm, first dose. I got the 'cranberry' flavor. Not too bad, but a funky aftertaste. Drank a lot of water over the next few hours. It started working within 45 minutes, and pretty much every 20-30 minutes until about 9 pm. Went to bed, managed some sleep, woke up at 3:30 AM for the second dose. Passing water until I left for the appointment. I think it's way better than the older preps, where you drink what feels like a gallon of prep liquid. No cramping. Worked well. There probably isn't anything out there that is actually pleasant and comfortable."

"Horrible prep - would give it a zero if possible, didn't work well with me at all. It took about 1-2 hours before any movement, didn't clean very well. Had to start the 2nd bottle a few hours after the first. I drank lots of water with both bottles but felt like I was pooping shards of glass and crying most of the night - (Ouchy, Ouchy) - day 2 and I still can barely go without crying. I also passed out/fainted when taking this medicine and woke up with a rash on my stomach. I would say stay far, far away from this medication."

"First and last time to use this Clenpiq prep. On top of the horrible taste, it didn't work. I've had three colonoscopies in the past and never had a problem with prepping until this one. I told my doctor I want something different next time. The use of Clenpiq was easy enough, with the exception of being able to open the bottle. I'm arthritic, and so is my husband. The bottle was difficult to open for both of us. The taste was gross. I chased it with water each swallow to get it down. I was able to have my test, but my doctor said my prep was 'sub-optimal.' I followed the instructions to the letter. Very disappointed in this prep."

"I have had colonoscopies for 36 years now, spanning from every year to every 3-5 years. I was very upset to be told that I had to buy this product for my most recent prep. The total was $134.95, but there was an online coupon that I found where I got it for $40.00. I was used to a different prep that was under $8.00. Let me begin by saying that I'm a huge baby when it comes to this stuff. I hate drinking water/fluids. This prep was pretty good, the taste wasn't the greatest, but I sucked it through a straw and had my toothbrush waiting with lots of toothpaste to clean out my mouth! No cramping or nausea, the only bad thing about this prep is doing it twice, and it burns your butt real good! I used baby wipes and Vaseline between each episode to help ease the pain! Lol."

"One hour after drinking the first bottle of Clenpiq, I went to the bathroom and vomited for over an hour constantly. Bowels didn’t move for another hour or so. I was freezing and wrapped a blanket around me. Next, the horrible sweats started. My hair was soaked. I was so miserable I couldn’t get comfortable. I started shaking, and I had tingling in my feet and hands. I could barely speak because my teeth were chattering. I asked my husband to stay close because I was really scared and, at one point, thought I might be having a stroke because my left leg felt numb. He handed me the phone, and I called the doctor on call. He said I would be fine and side effects like this are rare, and he would cancel my colonoscopy. After starting to evacuate my bowels, the horrible side effects started to ease. I did some more vomiting and finally was able to lay down for a bit. It’s 12:40 in the morning, and I’m still pooing, feel weak, have a headache, and can’t wait to never use Clenpiq again."

"I'm 58. Had my second colonoscopy yesterday. First one was seven years ago. Clenpiq did what it was supposed to do. Was it a pleasant experience? No, but it's not supposed to be. Although the instructions say to dilute the liquid, the instructions from my doctor were to drink it straight from the bottle and then follow it up with lots of clear liquids. The solution itself tastes pretty nasty. Like cherry syrup, only much worse. I suspect that it would be difficult to make something like this taste good. Even though I only managed to down half of the second dose, I was cleaned out very well. Overall, the drug did what it was supposed to do, and I didn't get nauseous, so I'd say that it turned out pretty well."

"Ok, so this was my fourth colonoscopy, and while different for each of us, I have to say I will be mildly inconvenienced by this in order to avoid getting colon cancer. That is what gets you through it! I have had different preps, and I liked this the best, and by best, everything is relative as they are all disgusting! But the volume of this is much lower. It doesn't taste like cranberry but instead like a sweet solution of something nasty. I gave it 9/10 only because I got very nauseous once and threw up, but I was very cleaned out for my procedure. And it also dehydrated me terribly, maybe because I didn't finish all of the required water, but I was drinking like a fish for a week after."

"This Clenpiq prep is amazing. This was my 5th attempt at a colonoscopy. This is the only prep I’ve been able to keep down. The taste is horrible, but that’s to be expected. I just held my nose, drank a sip of the prep, and then a sip of water. The best tip I can give you is to drink room temperature water or clear liquids. You will have little to no cramping at all with room temperature liquids."

"I am an active 71-year-old person and almost missed my bowel prep time because I could not open the bottles, as directed. I had to have my son drive over to open them. The next day, I complained to the colonoscopy nurse, and she said she hears the same complaint every day and that some patients end up canceling because they could not open the bottles."

"Awful experience. After drinking the first bottle, I vomited within 20 mins nonstop until it was completely out of my system. I did not have a bowel movement. I was nauseous and felt awful the rest of the night. I tried again in the morning, this time drinking it slowly, but vomited it up. Clenpiq is expensive and not worth it. If I had taken it earlier instead of 6 pm, maybe I would have had enough time to recuperate to switch to MiraLax. Ugh, such a bummer to have to reschedule and go through the prep again. I wish I had read reviews on it before taking it."

"The taste is something like Red Bull, but a bit bitter. It’s unbelievable to me that anyone would have such displeasure with the taste, as some reviews state. As far as what it does, well … it’s supposed to clean out your colon fully, so if you expect to have a single bathroom trip with butterflies and roses, then you need to understand your anatomy better."

"I followed my doctor's instructions for colonoscopy prep exactly, and this stuff still did not clean me out all the way, per my doctor! If you are going through all the effort of staying on a clear liquid diet for 36 hrs and making yourself have cramps and diarrhea, you would expect the stuff to actually do the job it's supposed to do! It tastes vile and had a really delayed effect, i.e., it was still 'cleaning me out' after my colonoscopy. Also made me feel nauseated, dizzy, and have headaches on and off. Would not recommend."

"First dose worked about 45 minutes after taking it. Had to go a few times throughout the evening, but it was manageable. Went to sleep and woke up at 3 am with chills, a terrible urge to vomit, spent the last hour in the bathroom, couldn’t get off the toilet, it was a terrible 1 hour. It’s now just after 4 am, just took the second dose. I feel much better, but I’m dreading the effects. I’m hoping everything is good for my 8 am colonoscopy. I don’t ever want to do this again!"

"I’m a 46-year-old female, 120 lbs, and overall in very good physical health. I was prescribed Clenpiq, day-before regimen. Prep morning, I drank water hourly starting at 9 AM. 1st bottle of Clenpiq at 3 PM. Tasted weird, sweet drink, but palatable (not cranberry). Kept drinking liquids hourly: plain and coconut water, beef broth (“dinner”), Gatorade. Took 90 minutes for movement, gentle liquid diarrhea (like turning on a faucet), not explosive or painful like a stomach bug. 2 Dulcolax tabs at 6:30 PM. 10 PM, drank 2nd Clenpiq. Was difficult and had to drink in tiny sips, with sips of water in between to minimize foulness and a warm, uncomfortable sensation in my chest. Drank slowly so I wouldn’t become nauseous. 3 more glasses of water/coconut water until 12:45 AM. I was cleaned out and had a headache. Slept from 1 AM to 6 AM. Doctor said prep was very good and procedure was successful. My advice: follow directions closely, go on a reduced-volume clean diet before prep, and hydrate a lot!"
