For Anxiety and Stress "I've just finished six weeks of 10mg citalopram and a further six weeks of 20mg citalopram. Please hang on until the end. I had the most dreadful side effects: dry mouth, feelings of an electric shock, tiredness, the need to stay in bed, yawning, constipation, diarrhea, pains in my stomach or side just under the ribs. I would stare at food but couldn't eat it. The list goes on. I was lucky to have my husband help me because it totally stopped me from functioning. I had to try different things to keep going. Deep breathing exercises were essential. Opening the bedroom window and standing in the cold for as long as possible were some strategies. Some of these symptoms may have been due to anxiety or stress that made me unwell. However, I found looking up reviews every time I was scared or needed reassurance very helpful. Now, I sleep through the night and feel 'normal'. Please keep going. Good luck."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I have been on 20mg of Celexa since 2012. Celexa works great for anxiety & stress. I have NOT lost my temper from being stressed out for 6 years. I like most people think I am feeling better and have tried to wean myself off Celexa 3 times in the past 6 years, but I never make it past 2 weeks before I start having meltdowns. I realized each time I tried to quit taking it afterwards, I could not handle all the kids being kids. So I have decided I will have to be on Celexa for the rest of my life. I have not had a moment where I lost my cool with my children in 6 years. I am not saying I harmed my children previously, I was just horrible with my mouth towards my children. So if you are reading this and you have similar meltdowns from too much coming at you at once, trust me, you need Celexa. I am proof it works!"

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "This medicine is incredible. I had about four months of out of the blue, never had it before in my life terrible panic and anxiety. I was to the point I was throwing up every morning and constantly worrying and thinking about it. I finally went to the Dr. after crying and feeling miserable for days/months. She prescribed me Celexa 10mg to wean on (minimal side effects - nauseous and a little more tired than usual, but I take it at night), then a month later I went to 20mg and I'm happy there. Absolutely no more anxiety or panic, and I don't feel like an emotionless zombie, I feel just like myself. My sex drive is normal, just takes a bit longer to get there."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "Been on Celexa for three months. It took a couple of weeks to adjust to mild side effects such as heartburn and a general feeling that I'm full or not hungry. However, I no longer have those side effects and I feel great now! I have social anxiety, and for the first time in years, I feel happy and more confident in social situations. I feel normal and have nearly no negative thoughts any longer."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I suffered from moderate OCD since childhood (62 now). I can control it, but sometimes it gets the best of me and I need medication. In past years, I was prescribed Xanax as needed. I began having increased anxiety again in May. My doctor suggested citalopram once a day for long-term therapy. After one week of 10mg, I literally forgot why I was anxious. OCD creates irrational thoughts that I can't stop thinking of, which spawns anxiety. It's a horrible, helpless feeling. The citalopram broke my irrational thought cycles. My side effects were mild. I began taking it in the morning, but after an hour, I felt somewhat woozy and tired. I tried taking it at night before bed, and I began having very weird dreams. No nightmares, but odd dreams that made me a bit uncomfortable that such things are lurking about in my psyche. I now take it around 6pm and really have no side effects. I felt I should communicate my experience so people won't get the impression that nobody gets positive results."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I have suffered from treatment-resistant generalized anxiety disorder for over 15 years and have tried every treatment in the book (except for Celexa). Nothing worked. Before Celexa, I was on Lexapro, which is supposedly the newer, more 'refined' version of Celexa, and felt horrible. About 6 months ago, I decided to switch over to Celexa and have never felt better. I felt a difference right away (within a day or two). I am finally back to my happy, bubbly, chatty self. Other SSRIs that cut my anxiety made me feel 'flat'. Not Celexa. On Celexa, I'm still able to feel my emotions - I can laugh and cry (when appropriate) - without feeling overwhelmed by them. I take it in the morning and have so much energy all day. I highly recommend this medication."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Been on this medication for a little over 8 years. It saved my life, and my marriage. I always struggled with very bad mood swings, anger, and anxiety over sometimes the littlest things. This medication turned my life around. It was a complete life saver."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I have been on Celexa since May and was reluctant to start since I had read all sorts of bad reviews on the internet. However, I am so glad I did because it has truly changed my life. I used to stress over everything and I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I feel 100% better. Celexa has allowed me to take control of my emotions, to read situations more clearly and to put things in my life into perspective so that I am not in a constant state of anxiety. I did not experience any side effects. This drug has allowed me to take back the control of my life and has stopped that constant worried voice that was in my head. I highly recommend it to anyone who has the same issues as myself."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I had uncontrollable moods of anger, sadness, and happiness. I looked for ways to fix it with drinking heavily and sleeping all day. Celexa cured my moods of feeling the need to drink and calmed my worries about life. Without Celexa, my life was uncontrollable - eating and sleeping and worrying all the time. With this, I was able to wake up early, get into a workout routine, eat healthily, and go back to school without feeling overwhelmed. My friends and family see this positive change in my life. I noticed after 3 months, I had to up my dosage from 10mg to 20mg. I wish the low dosage would last longer, but as for that, Celexa has helped me in every part of my life!"

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I'm only one week in, and seriously feel better. I'm a mom of two and a lawyer--I've suffered a lot of loss and have been shouldering a lot of stresses. I've always been anxious, but just thought that was who I was. My doctor put me on 10 mg of Celexa. I did have some nausea the first few days and headaches, but other than that nothing. I had so much anxiety about taking the medication, I almost didn't. But one evening my daughter told me that all of the things I worry about turn out fine--and she was right. If you need help, sometimes you can't do it yourself. I exercise, meditate, eat well, sleep well, but I couldn't shake the anxiety. This has helped a ton. I laugh, I feel more relaxed, and I'm gratefully enjoying life again."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "After holding on to the medication for about 3 weeks, I couldn't believe the results after just one day and literally felt the effects hours after I took the medication. I did experience side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness, but I found out after taking it the second day that it was only because I hadn't eaten before Celexa. I really see the difference, I'm no longer stressed and depressed. I do feel the difference, and it's a really great medication. I was so iffy about taking depression anxiety medication, however, I'm so glad that I did."

Citalopram for Depression "I have suffered from depression off and on for years and have taken Zoloft in the past. This time it didn't seem to be working. I also was hit with overwhelming anxiety because of my husband's job difficulties. The doctor prescribed Celexa a couple of months ago. After 3 weeks, I was ready to give up on this because it took longer to kick in than Zoloft. I also had terrible dry mouth and food just didn't taste good. But the doctor bumped me up to 60 mg and that really did the trick. I only have dry mouth when I first wake up in the morning and food tastes good again. My hubby said that on Zoloft I was more 'flat emotioned,' but on the Celexa, I have the normal ups and downs that everyone else has. The only negative is that I am on the tired side, but not terribly bad. It is a lot better than wanting to jump in front of a bus. I urge everyone to give this a try and stick with it. Good luck!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I’ve never realized that I’ve been struggling with anxiety all my life. I always thought that this was my personality to be snappy and reactive, and feeling my heart pound out of my chest was a norm. Fast forward a few years, I had a baby. My anxiety skyrocketed to the point I was not able to sleep. The baby slept through the night, yet I couldn’t, even though I was exhausted. The doctor suggested citalopram. The first week was hard. I experienced every side effect imaginable, however, it started to ease up by the second week. I am now 4 weeks in. Although my sleep is still messed up, I have never felt this “OK” with life. I find myself in situations where I usually would be very frazzled, feeling so at peace now. It’s like someone put a stop on the “fight or flight” mode. I’m writing this as I have spent weeks reading other people's reviews, being petrified of taking an antidepressant. So far so good, I feel like some part of my old self is back. Stick it out, it does get better."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I've been on Celexa for a week at a dose of 10mg, and it has been a huge difference. I feel like a different person. It has helped me with my ADHD symptoms. I used to be so anxious I couldn't do work, I didn't want to leave the house, I was late for everything, and now I can focus better and not obsess about my performance at work. The first night I got so confused and self-conscious, but the next day I woke up earlier with more energy and could function so much better. I am still getting used to it. The way I see it, my brain is relearning how to feel everything. My skin feels weird sometimes, the cold feels different, and my emotions and anxiety (which is still there but manageable) are different. I can still feel things like love, connection, joy, sadness, guilt, and I can. They are just all less intense, making more room for me to feel good most days."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. My Dr. put me on Celexa 5mg, for a week then 10mg and all the way up to 40 in the next weeks. This medicine has made me feel better already from starting it last week of 5mg. This medicine is a lifesaver for me. I switched from Zoloft. It wasn't working for me. I will be on Celexa for the rest of my life. Celexa is awesome for bad anxiety and obsessive thoughts, racing thoughts, worry, panic, PMDD, and etc."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "My anxiety caused me to have to move back in with my parents after 20 years. My guts were always churning, everything I ate would go straight through me, and I would get panic attacks that made me sweat; I had to be signed off from work. The anxiety led to depression and I honestly didn't know how I was going to get through each day. Citalopram has fixed me completely. The first week or so was rough and the symptoms worsened, but I was warned about that and stuck with it. Now I lead a normal life, I work, travel the world, and function well in relationships. I am deeply grateful for the drug. Sometimes I feel bad about being dependent on it - I can't seem to come off without the symptoms returning, but I couldn't have carried on how I was."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I started taking Celexa over a year ago for anxiety and stress. I had some mild side effects the first week, but it has been great since then. I started on 10mg and switched to 20mg after a month and have been at that prescription since. It probably took at least a month before I started noticing a difference. I take it at night and don't have any troubles sleeping or any other side effects. This medicine has completely changed my perspective. I'm much more calm and just happier all around. I used to be very high strung and easily stressed, but not anymore! Highly recommend!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I am a health professional who has suffered from anxiety since 11 years old. I am now 32. I spent most of my life wondering what on earth was up with me as I worried about everything! I couldn't understand why I felt so low. This made me worry more! I could actually spend hours and hours explaining my symptoms, stories, etc. I knew that antidepressants could help my mood and anxiety, but I was petrified of the side effects. 18 months ago, I decided to try Citalopram as I was so ill. I swear this has saved my life! I never thought that I could feel normal again. It's a miracle! I now look back and can't believe how bad my anxiety really was. I must be strong to have put up with it for so long. Anxiety can really ruin your life, act now."

For Anxiety and Stress "I am on 20 mg of citalopram daily. I suffered from anxiety and depression all my life due to childhood experiences. Never wanted medication but eventually, at age 70, needed it. No choice. I was at a very bad place. I took it for a year and thought I could do without it. Mistake. So a few months later, I had to go back on it. But I am okay again and will never come off it again. My reason for writing is to tell anyone who feels a failure, don't, it has changed my life. I am more rational, can sleep properly, no rushing thoughts in my head, no panic attacks, etc., heaven. The bad news... The first few weeks, for me, were awful. Hot flushes, anxiety, felt I had lost control. Out of this world. Very scary. I would feel it come over me, then open the window to get cold air on me or run cold water over my wrists! Do whatever helps, but don't stop. The good news... if you hang on in there, get through that bit, your life will change too. Good luck x"

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I'm 21 years old and relatively inexperienced with my anxiety and taking medications for it. For the last two years, my anxiety started to have a negative effect on my life. It progressively got worse to the point that I had trouble with everyday activities. I finally went to a doctor and he prescribed Celexa. I'm on 10mg a day and it has been wonderful. Slight side effects at first like occasional dizziness and unusual sleeping patterns but these were very minimal. After two weeks of being on the medication, the side effects TOTALLY subsided. I have been taking Celexa now for 9 months and have a great life. School performance improved, relationship with friends and family are better than ever, and most importantly I'm happier than ever."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I had started with Celexa, then changed to citalopram when it became available. (No changes whatsoever, both meds helped me exactly the same. Citalopram was just cheaper.) I had been in a severely bad personal situation, one that included some abuse. I was in a very bad way, and my anxiety level was at times paralyzing. When I started taking Celexa, my anxiety calmed down considerably, and I was able to see my bad situation for what it was, and I was able to actually deal with it. It's now years later, and my life is fine now, though I believe my personal situation damaged me enough to where I'm too stressed if I try to go off the medicine, so I stay on it, and that's fine with me. I believe Celexa quite literally saved my life."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "Works great for my general anxiety. I felt like I was trapped in my own body. Couldn't breathe regularly, fidgety, brain racing nonstop, chest pain, couldn't sleep, had to run up and down stairs to relax. After 2 months, I started to feel a difference. Takes the edge off is all. Doesn't change my mood, doesn't make me sleepy. Only side effect I have is sometimes an hour or so after taking, stomach is a little upset...minor tradeoff for being anxiety-free. Changed my life. If you are living under a constant cloud of anxiety, please consider this medication. It takes a while to really start working, but for me, it has been a savior."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I have been taking Citalopram for years, mostly 20mg. When I first took it, I felt so ill for about a month, mostly nausea, tiredness, and more panicked than usual. Then it was as though a cloud had lifted. I didn’t constantly overthink or worry and could start to enjoy life. A couple of times I’ve increased to 30mg to get through bad stuff in my life but I’m coping. I suffer from emetophobia, social phobias, and anxiety and depression. The best thing that’s ever happened to me. Don’t give up if you feel worse to start with."

Citalopram for Anxiety and Stress "I like Celexa so much better than Zoloft. With Zoloft, I had trouble sleeping, nausea, and it did not help my anxiety and depression symptoms. I have had a great experience with Celexa. So much so that I am uncertain if I would ever want to be taken off of it."

For Anxiety and Stress "At first, I was skeptical. I was really scared to start taking it and thought it might change who I am or alter my personality, make me drowsy, or gain a ton of weight. When I started taking it, my anxiety went up a bit, probably because I was taking a new med and already in a really bad place. I’ve been patient, and I’m now 3 and a half weeks in, and I honestly feel great. I feel much less day-to-day constant anxiety and I feel so much happier throughout the day. My mood has stabilized, and I feel far less worried and upset by the people, things, and situations around me. I have more energy, and I just feel more at ease, if that makes sense. I honestly haven’t noticed any side effects either. I’m really happy I took the leap and started taking citalopram. I didn’t really realize how bad things were until I realized how much better I’m feeling now. I feel like I’m getting my life back, and I’m starting to feel like myself again."
