Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have had stomach trouble all my life and had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago, and it didn't help. As the years passed, it has steadily gotten worse, and in the last year, my 'episodes' are lasting longer. I have missed so much work, and if I did not work for family, I would have lost my job. Been on Bentyl and Levison, and neither helped much, especially with the gut knotting up and cramping. I have only been on it for three days, but on my third day, it has helped, starting today! I am so hopeful after reading the majority of these posts and how they have helped. Thanks to all for posting, as I thought I was losing my mind and was truly getting suicidal as I could find no relief."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium "I am 63, and Librax was approved by the FDA in 1966. I was 11 at the time. I had severe abdominal cramping at the time, which stopped me in my tracks. The doctor put me on the new drug. I did not know until now that it had benzodiazepine in it. I feel sad that I took it when I was so young, and I do not think there were a lot of studies back then. I wonder now if Librax, for me, was the beginning of addiction in general. I will ever know and did not think of it until I was asked about my youth. I am very happy that it is available and works for many. Who will ever know."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was suffering from IBS for almost 8 years and didn't know what it was. I lost the quality of my life for years, having stomach pain, cramps, bloating, constipation followed by non-continuous diarrhea. I was desperate and hopeless when one doctor prescribed me this medicine, it really changed my life. I felt like I had never had any stomach problems. This medicine is amazing. I can't find it now from where I live, which is Cambodia, but I want to give a try to one of these other medicines on the list. Hope they'll work like Librax worked for me. Thanks."

For Peptic Ulcer "I've been taking clidinium for over 20 years to deal with acid stomach and esophagus spasms. When eating, I would have the feeling that food was 'getting stuck' after just a few bites. This is the most wonderful drug to deal with my 'nervous stomach,' so to speak, and also has the side benefit of reducing instances of lower tract issues as well without cramps. CVS Caremark is now giving me a hard time covering this medication, saying the problem is that it's not FDA approved, having gone to market in 1966, preceding the FDA. Actually, the real problem is that it's 'expensive!' They suggested 2 other IBS drugs, which did nothing for my stomach and resulted in abdominal cramps. I'm still fighting but out of room!"

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have diarrhea once a week and cramps. I have nausea, pain in my left abdomen while walking, lost 20 lbs. weight. Different doctors diagnosed me with dysmotility, I was on Mesacol 800 for a year. Then I went to a new doctor, he told me I don't have to take Mesacol and gave me Librax to take at bedtime. I took it and got cramps and diarrhea in the morning for days. Then I stopped taking it. I am confused."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "With Crohn's and irritable bowel syndrome, trips were out of the question. My MD put me on Librax, and in my opinion, saved my life. I can now enjoy a meal at a restaurant, then take out and eat it at home. The cramps are gone, and now I am enjoying life as never before. Thanks to my doctor for this miracle."
