For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have been on and off of chlordiazepoxide for about 6-7 years. It has been a lifesaver. My new doctor was reluctant to put me back on it, but decided to give it a shot. The only thing I don't like is the cotton mouth, but hey, I need to drink more water anyway! It really helps with my spastic colon and my anxiety that caused my irritable bowel syndrome episodes. I'm always afraid to get dependent on it, so I stop taking it after a while then begin again when it starts bothering me. My new doctor is monitoring me to make sure he knows every time I refill and contacts me if I keep requesting to make sure I'm okay."

For Peptic Ulcer "I've been taking clidinium for over 20 years to deal with acid stomach and esophagus spasms. When eating, I would have the feeling that food was 'getting stuck' after just a few bites. This is the most wonderful drug to deal with my 'nervous stomach,' so to speak, and also has the side benefit of reducing instances of lower tract issues as well without cramps. CVS Caremark is now giving me a hard time covering this medication, saying the problem is that it's not FDA approved, having gone to market in 1966, preceding the FDA. Actually, the real problem is that it's 'expensive!' They suggested 2 other IBS drugs, which did nothing for my stomach and resulted in abdominal cramps. I'm still fighting but out of room!"

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have diarrhea once a week and cramps. I have nausea, pain in my left abdomen while walking, lost 20 lbs. weight. Different doctors diagnosed me with dysmotility, I was on Mesacol 800 for a year. Then I went to a new doctor, he told me I don't have to take Mesacol and gave me Librax to take at bedtime. I took it and got cramps and diarrhea in the morning for days. Then I stopped taking it. I am confused."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This has been very effective in managing my symptoms of IBS-D. It helps with intestinal burning, gas, bloating, and diarrhea, etc. I do still have to take Imodium at times. Side effects are not bothersome or have worn off. I have been taking it regularly for years, and if I forget to take a dose, my stomach (or intestines) remind me! It used to be very low cost, which was great. Now it is getting more and more expensive. Medicare does not cover it."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "No side effects. Positive results as per reduced IBS problems and subsidence of peptic ulcer pain. Concerned that FDA has removed approval. Anticipate many months of trying other drugs to obtain similar relief from symptoms."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This chlordiazepoxide/clidinium is the only drug combo that 'cured' me. I had struggled with IBS for 2 years before my doctor told me about this drug. At first, it was not available in my state, and I had to order it from another state, but then that state stopped it from being used or manufactured there. By that time, thank goodness, Maryland approved the use of this drug, and I have been taking it since 2004. Now I am being told by all the pharmacies in this area that it is on back order and not readily available. I only have a week's worth left and am waiting to hear from my doctor as to what to do or if there is something similar that I can take. I'm scared because I do not want to go back to the IBS symptoms and all the abdominal pain that goes with it. Why the shortage?"

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I used it for almost 20 years now for the IBS. It is perfect during stressful times. Lately, it helped me a lot with prostate pain, but I notice that it shouldn't be taken with an enlarged prostate. I'm so confused! Anyone can help."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I tried many different medicines for IBS, and then I found Zelnorm, and it worked till they took it off the market. And then I thought there was nothing I could do but put up with the pain. But then I heard about this medicine from a friend, and I am so glad I did. It is very inexpensive and works great. The pain is completely gone."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have been diagnosed with IBS and started taking the generic form of Librax almost 2 months ago. My stomach pain and issues have almost been completely eradicated. This pill definitely improves my quality of life. There are some annoying side effects, including dry mouth, but they are worth it."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have been taking Librax for over 40 years. Most of the time, one at night. Foods make me sick to my stomach. I've noticed no side effects with Librax except do not drink alcohol! I did once. Never again. I had 2 beers and felt like I drank 8 and passed out. Librax does the job. No complaints. Anyway, Librax has gotten so expensive. I called CVS and it is now up to $1,500 for 60 pills! My health insurance will not pay for it. I have taken Donnatol, which helped, but I prefer Librax or the generic version. Actually, I cannot find Librax at any pharmacy near me for many years, just the generic. I am a senior citizen and cannot pay $1,500. I do not understand why it is so expensive."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I will say I am so grateful to be able to get this medicine (Librax). It is the only thing that helps with the abdominal cramping and pain I have in my upper right side. The side effects are minimal. I only take it when needed."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Enterocolitis "I started on Librax in the 60s when I was in my early 20s. It helped me greatly through the years for my stomach spasms, then the doctors didn't want to prescribe it anymore. So for a while, I had to go without it. But I finally convinced my doctor that it helped me so much that he has prescribed it for me. It really works well. I also had terrible anxiety and some depression about a year ago, and I was prescribed Lexapro. I was told not to take Librax with Lexapro. I finally decided to take it anyway because my stomach spasms were coming back. So far, I've had no problem taking both. I take 10 mg of Lexapro daily and Librax as needed."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "According to my physician, he prescribed me Librax 2 times a day for 10 days, which helped a lot for my IBS. But after some days, I had an appointment with my psychiatrist for severe anxiety, to which my psychiatrist prescribed Normaxin for 3 times a day for 10 days and several other anxiety-related tablets. But after the visit to the psychiatrist, I did go to the toilet for 3 continuous days, and on the fourth day (today), I did my work without any issues."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "Librax (chlordiazepoxide/clidinium) is the only med that has helped IBS-D. Diagnosed about 25 years ago. Maintenance of 2 daily works until flare-up, then 4 daily. Anxiety, stress, and some food cause flare-ups. Nothing else has worked! No side effects. Insurance does not cover, use drug cards or coupons. Harder to find either."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This is the ONLY medication that helps for my irritable bowels. I also have acid reflux and anxiety. It is now NOT a controlled substance as it shouldn’t be. I take it before every meal. Bentyl and hyoscamine were way too painful. Librax is gentle to my sensitive system. Yes, I changed my diet and lifestyle too. Ask your doctor, the Valium in it slows the smooth muscle in the colon. Does not get me “high.” Some doctors need to learn more pharmacology. However, you will need prior authorizations because it is not cheap. I fought to get it covered and you should too. I also do not drink alcohol on this medication. So if you cannot stop drinking, this is not for you."

Chlordiazepoxide / clidinium for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was suffering from IBS for almost 8 years and didn't know what it was. I lost the quality of my life for years, having stomach pain, cramps, bloating, constipation followed by non-continuous diarrhea. I was desperate and hopeless when one doctor prescribed me this medicine, it really changed my life. I felt like I had never had any stomach problems. This medicine is amazing. I can't find it now from where I live, which is Cambodia, but I want to give a try to one of these other medicines on the list. Hope they'll work like Librax worked for me. Thanks."
