Butorphanol for Pain "This is my rescue pain medication for really bad migraine headaches. I have killer ones - usually with aura, so I can start pain meds (2x Percocet 10/325) before pain gets out of control. I usually use Stadol if I awaken with a migraine. This medication is a lifesaver - it takes me from suicide due to pain to just being able to sleep. Only downside - it is the only medication that I have ever taken that I want more of once it wears off! Beware of addiction!"

Butorphanol for Pain "My doctor prescribed me this medicine for my migraines. Although it worked great for the pain, it was extremely addictive. I started wanting it all the time, even when I did not have a migraine because it made me feel so good."

Butorphanol for Pain "My husband suffered from migraine headaches throughout his life. He was prescribed Stadol NS. His migraines became more constant as his body craved Stadol. He was going through 5 bottles a week and had a callous on his palm from using it. This was back in 1996-1998. He went through rehab. It did stop his migraine, just to bring them back stronger and more often. Please ask your family if your personality is changing. Please listen to them."

For Pain "So I was administered this medication when I was in early high school. I gave it a 10 because it was great for pain relief, on the other hand, very addicting. A year passed, I used it once. Into year two, I had another stomach attack and had to use the butorphanol once more. I then continued to have pain that entire week and 'had' to use the butorphanol again and again. My point here is this drug is great for pain if you don't have an addictive personality because, like me, I did as an early freshman and ended up in a rehab facility detoxing. No one should have to go through that ever."

Butorphanol for Pain "I was prescribed Stadol at the age of 15 after suffering from migraine headaches that left me holding my head and literally screaming for my parents to help me. Did Stadol work? Oh, absolutely. Unfortunately, it also gave me my first high - my first experience with opioids and years upon years of substance abuse once the nose spray was discontinued. YES, it helps. But I'd NEVER recommend it to anyone. It is highly addictive. I'd love to have the chance to tell that family doc from many years ago how screwed up it was to prescribe this to a young kid."

Butorphanol for Pain "Was very helpful. A doctor prescribed Stadol to me when I was 19. Before I realized it, I was taking it even when I didn't really need it and was quickly addicted. I've been addicted to opiates ever since. It's been a long, rough road, and I'm currently clean, but this was so not worth the pain it helped. Doctors should never prescribe this to anyone to take home and take whenever they want. In a controlled setting only."

Butorphanol for Pain "I have been suffering from migraines all of my life. Before they made Stadol in nasal spray form, I was at the emergency room at least twice a month to get a shot of Stadol combined with Phenergan for the nausea. Finally, they came out with the nasal spray, which was great because not only could I not throw it up, but since it is administered through the nasal passage, it gave me almost immediate relief. I think that Stadol is the best pain medicine that was ever created. However, it is very addictive, and your tolerance gets to be higher and higher. People that suffer from any type of chronic pain, I’m sure, will agree with me."
